An exceptional hotel Clean, efficient and friendly Right on the front to the beach over the road
Car parking at a premium
Locatie was leuk
Hele kleine kamer en een nog kleiner bed en was erg warm in de kamer. Erg gehorig en er werd al rond 7.00 stof gezogen.
La ubicación
Es un hotel viejo y necesita mejor mantenimiento
Very friendly staff. Good breakfast & good location
Great breakfast, pleasant and very helpful team
Nil great food, reasonably priced with very attentive and helpful staff
Location good but busy , the breakfast very good and served quickly by attentative staff, good talking to staff members very helpfull, carpet very worn and needs a good clean
Parking a big problem , no idea where carpark for hotel was no direction went round block twice had to pay 15 pound for 24 hour parking 200 yards from hotel
Very central
It was a cute hotel room which looked like it was recently renovated. It was a very conveniently located too. The staff were exceptional. I was visiting family so did not eat here even though I paid for breakfast. It smelled amazing.
I loved the property. However my friends room was a little outdated. Very clean though but he felt it needed some modernising.
Great location.
Evening meal not that great.
Right on the seafront with parking available behind the hotel. Very nice room with beautiful outlook. Comfortable and quiet. Staff all very pleasant and welcoming.
Reception desk was not always staffed.

de kamer was veel te klein, 5de verdieping zonder lift.
Leaving today after a 4 night coach holiday , very pleased with the hotel , bedroom was spacious with a massive bedroom, including a bath & walk in shower . Food was lovely, I ve attached a sample dinner menu , breakfast was freshly cooked with a great choice The wi fi was good in our room but no signal in the restaurant which suited us. The most outstanding thing about this hotel was the wonderful staff , everyone was so helpful, efficient attentive & friendly. I need a plug beside my bed for a medical device , I rang before hand to check one would be available, the lady on the phone checked what room we were in & went to check , she said no but housekeeping would put an extension lead in the room & when we arrived indeed it was waiting, great service! The hotel is in a perfect location on the Esplanade
All the staff i came into contact with were professional and helpful.
Parking was a bit tight but well managed and appreciated.
This was the third time we have stayed with our little dog Fifi at The Kingswood Hotel. Almost everything was as great as usual. Our chosen room on the ground floor was as great as was the breakfast was great and Fifi especially enjoyed the sausage that was provided each day especially for her. Our one big problem however was the fact that we were unable to connect to the Wi-fi with the exception of spasmodically in the small reception area. I asked for help every day for the first six days of our stay and spoke to a few of the guests who were also experiencing difficulties. I also asked to speak to someone who could specifically help with this problem and he confirmed as we spoke that his phone could not connect beyond the reception area. As the floor Manager he promised to ask for maintenance to look into it and said they would come back to me but didn't. We have friends who live locally who tried to call or send us texts on several occasions but were unable to do so. I have a few health issues and monitor these with apps on my phone but of course was unable to access these whilst at the hotel and in addition a security system at home with a camera which we couldn't access either. We would be reluctant to go there again as they seem unwilling or unable to resolve the issue.

Excellent location. Easy for swimming in the sea. Car park when available is big plus. Right age range of guests for us.
No parking on the first day.
A very comfortable stay and welcoming staff who go above and beyond to ensure you experience an enjoyable a memorable stay. I only ate breakfast but it was very varied, tasty and filling.

Breakfast. Clean.
Unsecured WiFI
Location excellent. Food good, staff helpful. There is some parking but not for everyone and must be booked. It was folk week so very full and we had a small back room. I was pleased it was not hot at night because, despite a fan, it would have been stifling as room (118) looks out on an inner roof. Otherwise very comfortable and clean. Can sit out front and watch the seafront. Breakfast very good.
A bit expensive for the size of room but it was high season and less than other comparable hotels.
Friendly helpful staff, lovely breakfast. Located on the seafront, even has a working lift.
Not the hotels fault but nesting seagulls kept us awake all night.
Location, modern and clean room
The man serving in the restaurant or on the door was rude and unhelpful.
It was a very friendly hotel. Excellent staff and very comfortable.
It was all good.
Great location, very well maintained, friendly staff.
Sea view and excellent breakfast
All good
Very basic room for price. Very small bathroom. TV had only 4 channels. Internet sporadic. Room on stairway, so heard every passing conversation. Breakfast was lukewarm . Room was clean , but tatty.
Went on a coach holiday with parents for 5 days to the Kingswood Hotel. As soon as you walked through the door the staff made us feel really welcome and comfortable. The room we had was small but comfortable and well equipped ( fan in room great in this weather) Good shower aswell. All the food we had from breakfast to dinner was absolutely fantastic, good choice for everyone and served hot and good quality ingredients. Would definitely recommend to friends and family as we had a lovely holiday
My partner came here fo the end. We we warmly greeted. I have been here 6 times. The hotel is magnificent so comfy lounge mini bar. The food is wholesome and well prepared. Extensive menu. Room very cosy with various MOD CONS. If you want a break come to SIDMOUTH DEVON. You wont be disappointed. SIDMOUTH has much to offer. The anchor inn a great PUB great food and drink. I will come back again and again WELL DONE REGGIE FERN and your wonderful staff
Location & the clean furnishings
No garden area for the dogs
Location and breakfast were good. Staff helpful.
When I arrived i sent a message about where to park but then was advised no space and car park full. After parking elsewhere I complained and said it was on the description Booking .com They found me a space later in the afternoon. Thanks because that was a main reason for choosing this hotel.
We stayed here as a family for a weekend break. This hotel has a specific clientele which they cater very well for but it’s not a family hotel. It caters to the needs of the elderly and this generation of people aren’t accommodating to children. The man on reception was very helpful and pleasant however the rest of the staff were not. They were very functional but lacked in friendliness. The hotel itself could do with a good clean as the carpet in the shared areas and our room has stains. Ironically our dog had an accident which we were swiftly fined for the ‘clean up’ however I do wonder what this was given the pre existing marks already there. I booked a room for 2 adults, 2 kids and a dog and the sleeping arrangements for our children were unsuitable. There was a very small sofa bed to share which did not give adequate space for them. The rest of the room was pleasant with a fridge and hot drink making facilities. The bathroom was spacious and modern and you couldn’t hear anything from the other rooms. We were above the kitchen though which meant there was a constant smell of food. The breakfast was ok but again it is appealing to an elderly generation who enjoy things simple. The portion sizes were inconsistent with ordering scrambled eggs both days and one day it was two slices of toast and the following day it was one slice. The location of this hotel is fabulous, on the seafront, in the middle of town. Overall, this hotel served a purpose and because the weather was beautiful we were outside for most of the weekend. But I wouldn’t stay here again as for the price we did not get a welcoming family hotel. It was a hotel set up for elderly residents and staff who didn’t want the hassle of kids and dogs.
Lovely room with a balcony and sea view . Excellent customer service at reception and in restaurant.
Rooms are not very big but very clean and bathroom modern.
Lovely sea view, clean and comfy room, friendly staff
Great location - close to the town & the beach . Staff were excellent & Razeem in particular. He was SO helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for him. From carrying bags to the car, finding me a fan for my room, being so kind when I wasn’t feeling well. Thank you Razeem
My room being at the top was very warm & initially no fan was available…until Razeem ‘borrowed’ the manager’s office fan. I think it should be mandatory for all rooms to have a fan
Location was superb and the staff were very helpful.
We were in a room at the rear of the building and the internet was not available there.
The location and the rooms
The breakfast was poor and if you are trying to leave Sidmouth on a Sunday staff could be more helpful. The man on reception went all out in his assistance but the hotel needs to be able to call taxis for people. Signal is very poor in Sidmouth and we felt stranded. Our breakfast order wasn’t sent to the kitchen and when it did arrive it was not very well cooked. It ultimately made us start our day very late and left us very restricted in terms of what bus we had to get back to Honiton. While the hotel was lovely with these factors considered it feels a bit steep in cost.
The location is excellent. I have stayed at the Kingswood a few times previously. The food, cleanliness and staff are very good. I had a single room which was very small, so be aware of this when booking.
The size of my single room. However the sea view and small balcony made up for it.
The location was right by the beach. The breakfast was great and the staff were all friendly
We had lunch on the seafront last Thursday which proved to be disappointing. A Caesar salad historically includes a crisp green salad with romaine lettuce its dressing would normally be constructed with olive oil, lemon juice, egg yolk, Worcester sauce & anchovies. My serving which included dry pre cooked chicken bore little resemblance to what might have been expected. Flat lettuce accompanied by a meagre amount of anchovies and Parmesan. A very mean lean portion assembled without passion or pride. Feeling undernourished I then ordered a crab sandwich which was even worse. Almost a brown crab paste with an absence of white meat that was parsimonious in content to the extent of being mean. Bread should be the vehicle for the content not the other way around. However the Madri beer was excellent!
The staff were very competent and mostly friendly. All rooms are different sizes , but my single one was small and very warm.
Very hot in the top bedroom.
Beautiful view from my room , very helpful staff
My breakfast wasn’t great, but partly due to my being vegetarian and not fancying any of the options
The location is great. Near the town and on the beach. My single room overlooking the sea was great!
I was originally given room 116a. I would not recommend this room in the heat of summer as it was quite small, stuffy and looking over the back of the kitchen so noisy too. I was moved to a nicer room with no questions so felt heard and was very happy with the alternative offered.
Its location on the esplanade and the very friendly and helpful staff. The food in the restaurant was good with a different menu for each of the 2 nights we stayed.
There was nothing I didn’t like
Very set in ways - eg. had to pre order dinner which I did not know but eventually they accomodated. Breakfast start at 8 is not great - plus they were ready at 7.45 with a queue outside but still did not open doors, all a bit jobsworth.
Location and friendliness of staff. Lovely breakfast . Comfortable lounges and sitting areas
My room was extremely small although quite comfortable. Bathroom was nearly as big
Excellent location, on-site parking, welcoming to dogs, good choice of hot food for breakfast. Dogs are allowed to stay with you for meals, but not in the restaurant.

Location Staff friendly and helpful Food in restaurant was reasonably good, Room was clean and pleasant
Very little Carpet on staircase very dusty
We stayed here for one night for my fiancée's birthday. The staff were brilliant and the manager really went the extra mile. Our sea view room was fabulous. Being able to hear the waves at night was wonderful. Location is right on the sea front. We enjoyed a drink from the bar and sat on the terrace outside watching the world go by. The breakfast was very tasty too. Parking was well organised too. We'd definitely come back!
Lovey location, great breakfast.
The seagulls were terribly noisy!!
My room was perfect. I had a lovely relaxing weekend by the ocean
Good location Good communication
Very good and quality facilities. The property is in really good condition and lovely amenities. Good staff and really nice food.

We stayed at the Kingswood hotel for our choir tour, so there were 42 of us staying for 3 nights. The staff organized our luggage when we arrived and all bags ended up in the correct rooms! Well done! We had a good variety of options for breakfast and the food was hot, on hot plates. We had one evening meal which was delicious. All the staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for us. I would personally stay there again in a heartbeat!! The rooms were spacious with modern bathrooms and very comfortable beds. Spotlessly clean. Thank you very much for making our weekend extra special. 😎🍦👏🌞
Not much the staff were ok
The room was not as advertised also it. Was very noisy we went to give my wife a rest as she is supporting me in recovery after hart surgery we would have been better staying in a premier Inn at least we would have been reimbursed
Great location and comfortable atmosphere
Charming hotel in an excellent location. Everything was spotless, and the staff were consistently warm and friendly throughout our stay. Our room was fantastic; quiet, very comfortable beds, and an excellent shower with great water pressure. Would happily stay again.
Excellent breakfast and dinner. Unexpected entertainment on the first night with a female singer. Friendly staff.
Seagulls pooping all over my car. Hotel provided a hosepipe to to flush it off. Terrible weather, but can't blame the hotel for that.
Very welcoming for pets.
Room was very hot, and close to air con or something that started up at 0630

My wife and I stayed for 4 days to celebrate our Ruby wedding anniversary. Having trawled the internet for a late booking we took a punt on the Kingswood Hotel. It proved to be an excellent choice. Our large double room on the 3rd floor overlooked the sea. The finishings were as good as new and the room was immaculately clean. The smaller windows allowed us to sleep with the sound of the waves crashing below, which was beautiful. Service was excellent throughout – the whole team made us (and our dog) feel so welcome. We were on a dinner-bed & breakfast package and all the food was superb. A wide choice at breakfast and perfectly cooked, high-quality produce. The dinner menu was always varied and changed every night. Every course we chose was really, really good. Fab presentation, great taste and good portion size – and main courses and cooked breakfasts always served on a very hot plate (a personal bugbear). Cannot fault them. It was one of the best short breaks we have had. Thoroughly recommended. (and if you do take your dog, they will also be spoilt!)
I had a fantastic 3-night stay as a solo traveller and felt genuinely welcomed and safe throughout. My room was tucked away at the back on the third floor, so it was incredibly quiet, perfect for a great night’s sleep. The highlight was the window facing the shore; falling asleep to the sound of the waves was simply magical. The service was outstanding, with a special mention to Akish, who went above and beyond and was both professional and genuinely friendly. The room was spacious, newly refurbished, and spotless. I’d happily return and highly recommend it!
If I had to suggest one small improvement, it would be a wider selection of teas (especially herbal) in the room. There was plenty downstairs and I was able to bring chamomile up from reception, but having it already in the room would have been a lovely added touch.
Location and generous room. Super polite and friendly staff

Right on seafront - central for the shops - onsite parking.
Bed was not that comfortable. Too hard. Bathroom very cramped
A comfortable hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely setting right on the beach front. Good breakfast.
Evening meal very limited choices. Eat out at local restaurants.
Our walking group of 37 members booked the Kingswood Hotel for 3 nights in March 26. The hotel was spotless and obviously recently redecorated throughout. The rooms were lovely as were the public areas. We had a diner B&B package and had an excellent 3-course meal every night. Nice choices on the menu and all beautifully cooked. The staff were friendly and helpful with Steve doing his best to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Mirshad & Rajeen were managing behind the scenes ensuring a smooth service. Finally my thanks for Catherine and Liz on reception who were particually helpful in setting up the whole experience for such a large group. I'm sure most of us will be back to the Kingswood.
The situation couldn’t be faulted, all the staff were friendly and thoughtful. Bar man remembered the 2nd night what we’d ordered the night before and was very thoughtful and chatty

There was plenty of choice and flexibility for breakfast. The staff, particularly Rajeen, were so incredibly accommodating, allowing me to decorate the room for my partners birthday, getting him a gift and putting balloons in the breakfast room, giving us cake and extra towels if we asked and answering any questions, even bringing us a fan late at night before the staff finished to make sure we were cool enough. Honestly any questions or requests I had were consistently met with kindness, a desire to please and a clear great level of detail and care. The room was absolutely perfect, wonderful view and loved the sound of the sea, the shower was so hot and lovely, the room was nice and clean and when asked, we got extra biscuits on room cleaning. It’s in the small details. Honestly such a magical first holiday for us I couldn’t be happier !
The double duvet were two single duvets zipped up the middle which at times was a little scratchy but outside of that, everything was just amazing.
Breakfast and staff were lovely Only disappointment was the fact that we were on the top floor
Breakfast, double bedroom
I stayed in a single breadroom which was tough, especially in the hot weather. The double room was great!
Relaxed clean and pleasant atmosphere good food. Young people also appreciated it.
Noisy gulls at the back constantly
We stayed in the town house which was better than expected parking outside the door fully equipped with everything and quite good communication with hotel easy booking in and out
One thing a hand rail for the steps leading into the property
The staff were so friendly and helpful, it felt like nothing was too much to ask. We went for my husbands birthday and our first wedding anniversary and we were given a free upgrade when we arrived. The room was lovely, really comfy bed, nice soap in the bathroom. The balcony was perfect to sit and take in the view. Breakfast was delicious, all good quality food, and the staff were also very friendly and hospitable at breakfast. We didn’t have to book a time slot which we liked as we wanted to see how we felt in the morning. We would have loved to have been able to stay longer!!
Would have been a nice touch to have a fridge in the bedroom for fresh milk for the hot drinks!
Heel fijn.
Niets buiten de koffie kwaliteit.
Comfortable rooms, and general spaces, friendly staff, great location

15 members of our local pétanque club had their Christmas meal at The Kingswood this evening. Our table was nicely decorated and the food was hot and tasty. In particular, the service provided by Mirshad and his colleagues was excellent. Everyone agreed it was a delightful evening.
Lovely hotel right beside the sea. Great arrangement of residents’ facilities including longe and dining room. The problem for me is that the bedroom was tiny with no room for suitcases and the en-suite was minute. The sink was far too small to shave in comfortably- about the size of a tea cup!

Sea front
Myself son and me spent a memorable two here and it was truely magnificent. In everyway from the moment you came through the door to going to.your room which was lovely. The staff were brilliant and made you feel at home with nothing too much trouble catering your never need always with a smile. The food was superb and evening a wonderful experience. I WILL DEFINITELY come again.THANKYOU
very clean and well kept staff very friendly and helpful location excellent as was the parking provided
the lift did not go to the top floor so this entailed two sets of stairs. mattress was very warm
Well maintained and location
Signage to rooms quite tricky
Very happy with breakfast selection. Hotel in a lovely location
The non view from bedroom window. Very dirty outlook.
The staff were friendly, good food, especially breakfast. It was in a really good position, both for the beach, and the shops.
The price was much higher than that charged to others by the hotel itself. The room had a very small bathroom (actually no bath).
Very well appointed with good quality items.
The location
I was given a room no bigger than a cupboard and could not see out of the high opaque window. Friends had a balcony and larger room for the same price. Poached eggs way overcooked. The waiter did change them but couldn’t eat at the same time as friend.
The staff and the relaxed atmosphere. The cleanliness and the sea front location..
Nothing
I had a rear room with no outlook and a frosted window (but I knew this ) but it was a bit noisy as the extractor for the kitchen started up quite early in the morning. Excellent breakfast and dinner choices and the drinks were reasonably priced but I was rather surprised to pay £4 for a small glass of peanuts!! Next time I’ll bring my own!!
The location and the decor
Although the breakfast was fine, the dining experience was poor. On our first evening I wasn’t feeling very well so just ordered soup while my husband ordered the fish pie. No sooner had our order reached the kitchen and the food was on its way to our table so it had obviously been pre-prepared and this showed in its taste which was lacklustre.Very disappointing for our hotel for which we had paid over £200 a night. We would not stay here again.
