Hotel was lovely, guy in the bar was very welcoming on our arrival, room was amazing with views over the water, and everything clean. All staff at breakfast and in the resturant were helpfull and polite.
Nothing
The situation of Pystet Inn. Staff were ver friendly and helpful. The evening meal and breakfast were excellent.
Overnight stayvon way to Mull. Excellent food, first class service.
Room looked a little tired...in need of redecoration.
Location
Very disappointing stay – not what we expected from a 4-star hotel My partner and I stayed at the Oyster Inn in Connel for one night. Given that it is advertised as a 4-star hotel, in a very popular tourist area on Scotland’s west coast, we expected a considerably better standard of accommodation and, at the very least, a decent night’s sleep. Unfortunately, the room itself was disappointing from the moment we entered. There was an unpleasant smell which we can only describe as being like old or wet feet. The general condition of the room also fell well below what we would expect. There were numerous stains and marks on the carpet, scuffs and marks on the walls, chipped and peeling paint/plaster, staining and marks in the bathroom, and areas around the shower that appeared to need further cleaning and maintenance. We took photographs showing a number of these issues. We had intended to raise some of our concerns about the room earlier in the day and tried to speak to someone at reception, but there was nobody there. Later, we went downstairs for dinner, which we had booked, only to discover that the restaurant was closed. We had received no prior notification that the restaurant itself would be closed. As there was again nobody at reception, we went into the bar and spoke to a female member of staff. She confirmed that the restaurant was closed but told us that we could sit in the bar and eat our meal there that evening. Our biggest problem, however, was the noise and the disturbance to our sleep. At approximately 11:15pm, the music coming from downstairs became noticeably louder. The volume appeared to vary between tracks — louder during one track and quieter during another — but it continued while we were trying to sleep. I checked on my phone what time the bar was shown as closing and it stated 11pm. As it was approaching 11:40pm and the music was still disturbing us, my partner went downstairs to ask for it to be turned down.
Beautiful hotel in an excellent location, the room was lovely with a fantastic view, the staff were wonderful and the food was lovely.
The one small downside is that the restaurant and bar are one and the same and as the place is very popular ( rightly so, it's lovely ), there isn't anywhere you can sit and just have a drink before or after your meal.
The Hotel staff and management were were very attentive to guests. Were helpful when asked about tourist places.
Friendly staff and the other guests were too.
The food was very good and the staff very friendly.
Our room which was 16 was a bit tired and would benefit from an update.
Location Friendly Staff Break fast
I would have liked my room to be but more modern like the lake view rooms
Location. Restaurant. Sea view. Great staff. Very helpful and friendly. Comfortable bed.
No shelves in bathroom or hooks to hang towels. . Slight odour in bathroom. Sound proofing inadequate.
Lovely room with great views across the bay. The en-suite bathroom was excellent with a walk-in shower.
The room could do with nets across the windows as it was on street level and anyone passing can look in unless the blackout curtains are drawn.
Amazing hotel with one of the best viens ever!
Breakfast staff were really good, breakfast itself hit the spot
Room was dated and needed a little refurbishment
Charming location, lovely loch view, delightful room, helpful staff
Tolles Frühstück!Daher insgesamt die Ednote etwas angehoben! Im Haus befindet sich ein schöner Pub.
Location excellent. We We were upgraded to a sea view room which was lovely. Handy for Oban. Good parking. Food good.
Signage for finding our room.
Food excellent and room size much better than the last time we stayed. Staff friendly and attentive
Nothing really as it was only a one night stay
Great overnight stay. Comfortable refurbished rooms. The bar downstairs was really cozy and staff welcoming. Really enjoyed our dinner.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Brilliant place to see the Falls of Lora.
Downstairs front rooms on side of the road. Best room 1st floor with a lovely sea view
The view of the Och
Being so close to the road
We had a lovely room with balcony overlooking the bay.
There was nothing to dislike
Staff were friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and comfortable, shower was excellent. Breakfast was very good and evening meal was excellent 😋. Really good hotel with stunning views 👌
Nothing all fantastic
Okay lacked a selection of tinned fruit for breakfast.
Carpets on stair were pretty dirty a little bit of TLC Required
zimmer mit wunderbarer aussicht aufs wasser
We enjoyed breakfast everyday. Hot breakfasts as well as continental was offered. Friendly seating and cosy surroundings.
My husband asked for porridge one morning which they didn’t have. There seemed to be some issue with the porridge delivery.
Location
Lack of any attention to detail. Room had full glass frontage to afford westerly views, which is great. However, no net curtains so everyone walking past can look in. Also, balcony immediately adjacent to busy main road
We had an upgrade to a balcony room which was nice This was a second visit here for us. We returned because it was excellent! This time it wasn't.
I had three twin rooms booked, two with disabled access. The booking they said they had was for three doubles all upstairs. Despite showing them my booking on booking.com, they still disagreed. I was given a downstairs room with balcony. It had three , very large floor to ceiling windows but no voiles like all the other ground floor rooms had. Facing onto the road with the pavement directly outside this wasn't ideal and I had to spend the entirety of the stay with the curtains drawn and the light on in the room. We had to make do with what was available. It wasn't great Our first visit, in 2026 was excellent. The staff were fabulous; very friendly and welcoming. With the exception of Evie who dealt with our booking mix up and the tall young man behind the bar, every member of staff seemed unhappy and lacking in conversational skills It just absolutely spoiled our trip. The food wasn't as good either. If this had been our first visit we wouldn't have returned. We won't be returning again now.
Good location, very comfortable beds and the best shower. Decent breakfast. Friendly staff.
We stayed in room 16 for which accessibility is poor through numerous stairs and lots of doors. Due to the location of the room (very rear over looking carpark) the Internet was terrible.
Location was good although the balcony was pointless due to the busy road
Arrival we were greeted very well and given our key and pointed in the direction of our room. We booked restaurant for evening meal .. haddock and chips, steak pie chips n veg. The presentation was lovely however the chips were overcooked and still skinned, the cabbage was raw and the batter was very thick. Just all overpriced for expectation ... stayed in better for less money
Our stay at the Oyster Inn was OK but not much more. The walls were not very sound proof, our room had one tiny velux window so no view and the room was small and not well furnished. We didn't have a cooked breakfast and the options for the buffet were poor. Though if you're hungry the cooked breakfast did smell good. Overall it was a very average stay for the amount that it cost for our family to spend a night there.
The views from our room over Loch Etive were fantastic. Great location for an overnight stay. Room was a good size too.
Carpets in rooms need a bit of a clean but it does say dog friendly so stains prob from them.
Breakfast was very nice ans all hotel staff were very pleasant
Dinner was fantastic
Smell in bathroom
Great staff, tidy room, and delicious food. See you next year!
Lovely friendly staff, clean rooms and excellent food
Persoonlijk was super vriendelijk en behulpzaam!
Great location and the room had brilliant views of the loch
Think the Inn was a bit short staffed , staff seemed to be a bit harassed but still provided good service
Breakfast hot and full Scottish best ever
Tv not working not a issue
Location… Connel is very picturesque. The hotel has a bar/ restaurant too so catering for evenings. Breakfast was both buffet and a cooked breakfast which was delicious. The room was spacious, clean with a comfy bed. Tea and coffee with a kettle in the room. En-suite too. The power shower was lovely and warm with fluffy towels to dry yourself. The room was quiet although the pub was still open. There is off street parking too. Staff are all polite and genuinely very helpful.
To fill the kettle, you use the water from the sink. I personally would have preferred bottled water for this. ( I know it is a silly thing but I genuinely do not like using water from the bathroom).
I loved the friendly staff, clean room, great location, excellent food and service.
Dog in the restaurant
Rooms very large and clean. Even though they were short staffed the staff were brilliant. Only downsize tv was roo small for room.
Room with a sea view was wonderful.
Disappointed in the evening menu.
Fantastic location good rooms
Nothing at all
The area of Connel is very handy for oban and sightseeing.
The bed in room 12 was extremely uncomfortable, the hard springs were poking out, it was a cheap bed but I would recommend spending a bit of money to get a decent mattress, I slept with the duvet folded over on top of the mattress plus the little quilt thing that sits on the end if the bed under that and I could still feel the springs. It was also extremely hot so good job we brought our own fan. Fairly noisy up and down the corridor and loud music from the kitchen on occasion however it did stop when I finally called reception.
The location, food and staff were amazing.
Due to having a Chronic illness I found it exhausting going up and done the stairs to our room.
There was an very good choice of foods and drinks for breakfast and a restaurant on site for those who don't want to travel. The staff were all professional and friendly. The Hotel was about 7 minutes from Oban by car and can be reached easily, buses with time table and taxis, which we were advised can be expensive. We had a room on the first floor overlooking the Loch. The views were stunning.
We went during a heat wave and we found the room hot. When we left the patio door open the traffic was a little loud. If climate remains as it is air conditioning may be required in the future.
Great staff and service
Excellent location, very nice and clean room, bathroom spotless, big and tasty breakfast and exceptional service
Too short stay
Very pleasant staff. Our room was very clean. The hotel was situated in a lovely spot. So accommodating as we had Teddi my dog with us. The food was beautifully presented. No faults what so ever.
Overall a great place no issues
Hotel was spotlessly clean. Rooms were modern. We had a balcony and sitting outdoors to watch the sunset was truly amazing. Dinner was wonderful. Mussels and then Steak pie with mash and vegetables. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Breakfast was very good with various choices 😋 . It arrived quickly and was very tasty. Tea and coffee were plentiful. We are already planning a return trip, only checked out this morning and I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. Its on another level. Not .
Not a thing.
Size of the room and the view
It’s a great location - stunning views from the bar. Really handy for so many beautiful places (Lismore, Kererra, Ben Cruachan etc). The room was simple but very clean and comfortable. The bar is cosy with a really nice atmosphere, food was really good. Staff were excellent - friendly and efficient, felt like everyone knew what they were doing (not always the case!). Would definitely go back.
Only one thing - instant coffee at breakfast! Think they should invest in some decent ground coffee
Excellent breakfast Lovely location
Room was very small, overbed lamp not well fixed to the wall, previous occupant had left a present in the toilet
Great views and excellent breakfast
No outside seating to overlook the bay
Location was excellent, staff were friendly and welcoming. Food (breakfast and dinner)was great! Room was modern, clean and comfortable
Nothing
The breakfast was first class and so was the service.
Lovely wee hotel , clean and had a great view over the bay. Staff were attentive and very friendly. Food was exceptional, breakfast and dinner were lovely in a very nice atmosphere.
The location was great, just near Connel Bridge and our room looked straight out over the water. The bed was comfy, shower was a good size and the bathroom was very clean. Dinner in the Glue Pot bar was really good and there were plenty of people there, so a nice atmosphere too. Breakfast the morning after was plentiful and delicious. Cereals/yoghurts and fruits with pastries to help yourself to and cooked items made to order. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, we really enjoyed our stay and would return if we are in that area again.
The only thing that was an issue was the room was very warm. We were able to open the patio doors to cool the room down though, so not a problem.
Comfortable room and a very good breakfast
The bar area was not very cosy or welcoming
The location was spot on. Nice pub with tasty food. Breakfast was well cooked and tasty. Room was ok, should have checked my booking as it was supposed to be a ground floor king and we were in room 16 upstairs. Room was lovely but not what I booked. Nice shower with good pressure.
Upstairs and not a ground floor as booked.
Location. Food was really nice. Big comfortable room. Dog friendly.
Nothing
Comfortable room and a great breakfast.
It is such a lovely location We had a nice dinner and helpful staff serving us- the atmosphere in pub restaurant was nice. Staff took care of us well and we enjoyed it
Our bedroom 9 was tiny with a small velux window in a roasting hot space. The towel rail was on full v hot and no ability to turn off. The shower doors didn’t close fully so water everywhere. The bed was very uncomfortable shaking at every movement in the bed. Small thing but in addition - The towels not great quality and didn’t dry well. I was refused a hot breakfast more than ten mins after ordering it - I was told it was because I came down ‘on 9:30am’ and the kitchen started clearing up breakfast before 9:30am. However the person at reception when I ask where I take breakfast mentioned nothing re the timing. We had a late check in around 11pm and weren’t told breakfast times. It seemed poor customer service.
Food was good Service was good and staff were very friendly and helpful. Great view from our room.
Bit noisy from other rooms
the hotel needs a little TLC in places
Good location, friendly staff, great breakfast.
The rooms were extremely hot when we arrived. It was 7 pm and outside temp of about 65F/18C, but rooms were about 82F/28C. We lived in Europe for 10 years and understand there is no AC. But something should be done to ventilate the rooms and cool them down. And some of the windows would barely open.
The staff were soundly and helpful. Our room whilst small was comfy and well equipped as was the bathroom with walking shower Room overlooked the loch and despite being right on the road was quiet Dinner was good and the coconut & chilli margarita hit the spot Breakfast offered a god choice and the full Scottish set one yo for the day An excellent stop for 1or2 nights a few minutes drive from Oban but also not too far from Fort William Well recommended
Everything the pub was great so was our evening meal left early for ferry to tiree so we didnt have breakfast
All good
Convenient location, free parking, modern facilities, good restaurant on-site, friendly staff
Nothing
Great location, lovely room with a balcony and view over the bay. Restaurant on site for evening meal and great breakfast.
Location
Rooms were low rent high cost. No where near premiere inn standard
Sehr schönes modernes Zimmer; Essen im Pub empfehlenswert, sehr nette angenehme Mitarbeiter
Instantkaffee zum Frühstück, dear Host—-you have a big coffee machine—— why it’s not used for the breakfast
Good location, convenient to Oban. Room was clean and tidy. Free parking on site. Nice breakfast.
Carpeted stairwell could need a good clean, bad smell.
Excellent location, friendly helpful staff and lovely evening meal. We had to leave before breakfast but a hot breakfast roll was arranged for 7 am.
Nothing.
Great on site bar and restaurant and friendly staff.
I loved my stay at the Oyster Inn Connel! The room was fantastic—clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The staff were super friendly and incredibly helpful throughout my visit. The Gluepot Bar looks great and has a wonderful atmosphere, and the food they cook is excellent (I suggest to make a reservation if you want to have a dinner there).
None—it was a wonderful experience!

The breakfast waiter was not very welcoming nor accommodating. I walked in and asked for a flat white and he quite bluntly said ( we do not do those kind of coffee here, we only only have black coffee or black tea and milk is on the table!) mind you he was standing right next to the espresso machine and I had a flat white the day before! I paid £200 a night and he’s ruined it with his attitude.
Breakfast was very good and served very quickly
The location and the food and the staff were very friendly and helpful
Not a big problem but the room was very warm
Parking available Fan available as room was hot Spacious room
All floorboards creaked Toilet brush - disgusting
Very nice room in a perfectly lovely location. The views are stunning just over the road, of the Connel Bridge and the Falls of Lora. The shower was good. The food on offer was delicious and the staff friendly. We really enjoyed our stay.
Nothing to dislike at all.
The exceptionally helpful and friendly staff The quality of food View
Nice rooms. Great location.
Not much interaction with staff.
The varied menu came as large helpings, good quality and very tasty.
The coffee jug was only small so we needed refills.
Loved the location and the view. Staff were lovely. great vibe in the pub. Spotlessly clean.
The floor in the room was not level. Pedestal and bed were a bit lob sided. Hotel needs some TLC
All fine
The electric window blind needs instructions on how to use and battery checks in ocean view rooms
Location, view, good staff and great shower.
It needed a comfortable chair in the room.
Leuke pup, fijne kamer
Lively bar and restaurant Good views from the hotel
Friendly and helpful staff. Location with view stunning.
Comfortable bed, good shower, delicious breakfast - and very helpful & co-operative about late arrival (due to ferry delay)
Table a bit squashed for breakfast, but appreciate your space in the bar is limited.
