Clean throughout and all that you require for a pleasant stay.
Excellent location for the event we had attended earlier in the evening. very good check-in during the afternoon. Surprisingly quiet when we got back but very good bar staff. Great Breakfast. All round a lovely stay.
Droning noise - possibly from kitchens below room.
The breakfast and evening meal were excellent. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The accommodation was very good value. I would definitely stay there again.
Good food, clean accommodation and the staff were really helpful and accommodating.
Struggled connecting to the WiFi initially but the bar staff lady was really helpful and once connected it was fine.
Lovely location, warm welcome and perfect accommodation. Breakfast was freshly cooked and very good quality. A real find and we will stay again.
Good location, plenty of parking, excellent facilities and friendly staff
The staff were all amazing. They treated you almost like a member of the family, especially the lovely lady who served breakfast each day. The room was clean and cosy. The towels were soft and the bed was comfy. The food was good and the menu, whilst small, had plenty of variety. The trout in particular was beautifully cooked.
The room was rather hot and the bed had a winter duvet on it in August. It would have been great in the winter but it was so warm a sheet, or a summer duvet would have worked better.
Location, friendly atmosphere
Chef didn't turn up to make breakfast. Although I was able to have a continental breakfast instead, however I did want a cooked Breakfast which was the deal I paid for.
The breakfast was very good, cooked fresh for each diner. The staff were friendly and helpful
Nothing. Everything was fine.
Very friendly staff, nice room and a good breakfast.
Terrible selection of whisky in the pub. No single malts at all. The beer was good though.
Convenient location for our needs Food was good and plenty of parking.
We had a room on the front overing looking a crossroad. Traffic very close and it felt like the lorry drivers could see straight into the room.
Everyone has been super nice and friendly, dinner at the restaurant was convenient and the food was great.
The rooms next to the road were a bit noisy. The ventilator in the bathroom was quite loud.
Staff fantastic, food fantastic, location great, beer great, price - fantastic.
Very quiet location, excellent breakfast with plenty of choice. Plenty of parking, room was clean & comfortable.
The friendly family atmosphere and the beautifully restored building was a great get-away and highly recommended.

Excellent value for money, friendly staff, especially the owner/manager, good breakfast. A perfect stop off location between visiting family in Somerset and my home in Yorkshire. Also convenient for visiting Hanbury Hall.
No food available in the evening due to staff shortage (the bar staff did apologise about this though). No milk in the room with the tea making facilities.
Lack of air conditioning in very warm summer, but understand the limitations with the building being Grade2 listed
The staff were very friendly and really welcoming.
The food options were a little limited for me, also kitchen closed at 8.30 which I thought was early for a Saturday.
Wonderful pub, restaurant and hotel. Room was fantastic, staff very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Food in the evening was great, breakfast was fabulous.
It was perfect.
The staff were wonderful; friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good. And there was plenty of Parkin and even though the rooms are above a pub it wasn’t loud in the room at all.
Great location and great staff

Lovely room and great breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Excellent
nice place with nice pub and good food
the room are looking to the main road.
An excellent hotel, bar and restaurant located 10 minutes from M5 in a delightful village. The staff and the locals were fantastic during our stay and we ate a great meal in the restaurant where we also had an exceptional breakfast. The rooms were very comfortable and the shower was just a pleasure to use. Ample Free car parking outside the hotel capped off a great stay. I will be back !
I cant think of anything adverse really it was a great stay, which broke up our travel from Plymouth to North East England. So pleased I chose this place.
Popular and well attended Pub at the weekend.
External noise from cooling systems outside my room.
Friendly staff, nice roo clean room and lovely shower and very decent breakfast
In the twin-bed room the bed was just too firm.
lovely but one morning chef locked out so had to go without breakfast but was offered evening meal foc
sit of problems on fifa match handled well by boss. had to carry suite case up stairs bit difficult being disabbled
Excellent breakfast and plenty of it too. Member of staff, providing breakfast was very attentive, making separate cups of tea for both my wife and I. Also provided a slice each of wonderful toast. This staff member certainly went above and beyond to make our breakfast a success.
Nothing.
It was a very hot night, and there was no way of cooling the room (e.g. the windows could not be opened.
Character, cleanliness , friendly staff and a good menu with choices well cooked and very tasty.
Nothing in particular.

Stayed only one night but the room and the place was great. Close to our destination, room was very good and clean. We travelled in the middle of a heatwave so it was a little uncomfortable to sleep but we were provided with a fan which helped a lot. Pub downstairs with cold drinks and great food was perfect and the meal well cooked and tasty. Friendly staff. Great English breakfast in the morning. Ease check in and out.
Nothing, everything was perfect.
Very Good breakfast in a countryside location
I was happy with everything
Website showed breakfast from 7, on arrival told not until 7:30, I had a meeting at 8 half an hour away. So no breakfast, the reason we had booked it. Small menu for dinner, tea and coffee in the room NO spoons... generally not impressed
See above
Excellent helpful and friendly staff.
Great ambience
Extremely hot and no provision made to make sure we are OK no drinking water provided
Friendly staff, clean room, nice pub. I love staying here.
My stay was during an extreme heatwave. Bearing in mind that they can't have double glazed windows, an electric fan should've been provided / available.
The team was very helpful. They accommodated my motorcycle in their back yard, in a supervised area. Had the Hawkstone (Clarkson's) beer on tap.
In front of my room window were the external AC units and the noise was strong.
We arrived, two hours after our planned time, and were warmly welcomed. The hottest day of 2026, meant that the chef had reduced the menu...what we got was lovely. The bar ambience was friendly, and we chatted to lovely locals. Breakfast was very nice, and freshly cooked, and we were welcomed warmly. Thankyou.
Nothing, all excellent.
Very friendly staff who did all they could to welcome me and my wife and to make us comfortable. There is ample parking, the rooms were comfortable and breakfast was very good
Nothing to add
Location and friendly staff.
Rooms really hot, due to a very sunny day, but a lack of fans or being able to open windows, was a problem.
Friendly staff
Traffic noise. Breakfast was well intentioned but lacked any finesse
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Accommodation was very good ..Breakfast was excellent
The evening meal was the worst l have experienced
Great place. Convenient facilities.
Was a little warm the day we visited and was a little difficult to cool down using the fan in the room, but glad there was a fan.
Friendly staff
Limited menu
Nice staff
Good value for the money. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff.
Humming noise from a fan outside the window but not very loud.
No view, However fantastic price and very friendly staff. Breakfast was brilliant. Definitely book again
No view from window looked out onto courtyard.
High standard of decor throughout the building. Very comfortable bed. Great location with large carpark.Generous breakfast included All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. They were extremely helpful when I discovered a fault with my car. I had no mobile reception, so they allowed me to use their landline to contact my breakdown service.
Teaspoons or stirrers with the tea and coffee making facilities would be nice, but not essential
Room was clean and comfortable, staff were very friendly and helpful - food was very good and the pub area had a genuine country pub feel
Nothing
Friendly staff, room was basic but comfortable.
Breakfast service finished at 9am, a later service would have been nice. Light snack menu available in the evening would have been a good option.
All ok very good

This is an excellent venue. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful. The breakfast was superb Beds were very comfortable
The pub is on a busy junction and it’s quite noisy in the bedroom - windows were open as it was a hot night. It’s a beautiful listed building and so double glazing is out of the question. Possibly the only drawback we encountered
Lovely country side location.
Nothing
The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful- we can’t thank them enough
Location, relaxed atmosphere. Staff were incredible. Restaurant excellent

Quiet hotel with a comfortable bed and nice, friendly staff. Dinner in the evening was lovely.
The emergency light in the room emitted a bright green light, which wouldn’t suit people that like a dark room. Breakfast was nice, but seemed a bit disorganised. There weren’t enough glasses for fruit juice, or cups for tea/coffee at one stage, despite the small number of guests.
Helpful and attentive staff
Noisy chiller unit outside my hotel room window kept me awake all night.
Staff was very nice, helpful
Cobwebs around corners, windows in not a good shape, wind blowing through (assume outside windows very old due to being a historic building) but 2nd row of windows inside not great
Quality refurbishment yet still managed to keep the original beams, bedroom upto current standards Magnificent breakfast
Dinner menu whilst solid and homely needs the occasional signature dish
Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Food is delicious and the room was so cosy
Nothing
I had to leave earlier before breakfast, so the staff prepared me a bag of breakfast for take away! Met the owner too, and also allow me to warm up my own food. Big, clean and free car park 👌
Wonderful stay at The Vernon, friendly, knowledgeable staff , warm welcome from Annie on arrival, loved the history of the building & how it's been lovingly restored into a vibrant place to drink, eat & stay. The rooms are very comfortable, the food on offer was delicious, fabulous breakfast & evening meals . Thank you
Quiet county area. Easy access to main roads.
All the staff were brilliant attentive and helpful. The choice of evening meals was good and the food ordered well presented and tasty
Very friendly staff. Good food.
Spotless, wonderful staff, gorgeous food and excellent parking

Great hotel, second stay (for work). Comfy, and good food too. Staff all friendly and helpful.

Improve get new quilt and new net curtain window curtain need cleaning
Very friendly staff, who were keen to help even though they were busy. Excellent breakfast, with another lovely member of staff. She even arranged some scrambled egg and toast for our baby!
Comfy stay. Lovely staff and excellent breakfast
The staff were absolutely brilliant. Many thanks to Josh, Kim and the lovely lady who sets up the breakfast and lots of other stuff
It's a little out in the sticks but not an issue for me.
Great Staff, Bar and Food A nice place to stay for a fair price 😎👍
Room was very hot with no heating on at all. There was a lot of noise from kitchen extractors however this got shut down around 9:30ish so all quiet after that
Interesting mix of modern gastro pub with modern rooms in a quirky old coaching inn building. Excellent evening meal in the Bar - Best steak pie in a longtime
Been a very old property the floor in the bedroom was very uneven and the sound proofing a bit poor- but fine for a short stopover
Absolutely everything beautiful building and surroundings
Loved everything
Great facility , bar was cozy , restaurant was great . Both staffed with really friendly waiters / waitresses. Food was great too
The morning chef had left , so could only get a continental breakfast. It was fine though
Good location, nice place. Really friendly staff and great breakfast
Not much to moan about but it looked a lot tired in places
Modern colourful public spaces
Tired room - carpet and sanitary ware
Breakfast was excellent. Was goodvalue
Nothing
The large spacious bedroom with an amazing bath ( much needed after a day walking). The whole establishment was tastefully decorated and wonderfully refurbished. The food choice in the restaurant was very good and the food was excellent. Breakfast was very large and enjoyable. The cost of a stay was very good considering a lot of properties charging way over the odds for sub-standard accommodation. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Couldn't fault the place.
