The staff were friendly and welcoming, the food was good, and despite the hotel building itself being a little dated it was well maintained and clean.

Despite having a reasonably large double room, the bed itself was far too small. My partner and I are 5'3 and 5'7 and neither of us are particularly big-boned, yet we were very cramped and struggled not to bump each other awake by accident.

The building was lovely, the staff were very helpful. We'd only paid £90 for the night and weren't sure what to expect but was very pleasantly surprised. The evening dinner was excellent.

Choice of beer was limited but ok

Ein schönes Hotel in Chiseldon bei Swindon. Es liegt abseits vom Trubel und wir hatten zwei großzügige Zimmer mit geräumigem Bad. Das Personal war sehr freundlich, das Frühstück gut und das Abendessen hervorragend. Abends kann man noch einen Absacker an der Bar einnehmen. Allerdings sind Bar und Frühstücksraum eine Einheit, was nicht so gemütlich ist. Ausreichend Parkplätze sind vorhanden.

Windows were very stiff to open. We would have liked to have the price for one course at dinner.

Beautiful old mansion. Room was big, stylish and comfortable. Staff was super friendly. Plenty of parking spaces. Restaurant was very good. When in England we want to feel that we're in England and it did.

There was a tv with a Netflix button on the remote control It is a smart tv. But no internet and the wifi is set in such a way that the tv cannot be connected to the wifi. So no streaming either. Since there is nothing else to do in the hotel in the evening we would have loved to watch a movie.

Lots of stairs, though it adds to the charm of the place.

Good breakfast but could do with some berries to go with cereals and yogurt. Could do with tissues in the bedroom. Would be better if smoking was not allowed near and on the patio at the front: the smell of smoke is very off-putting. If people must smoke even after decades of health warnings, they should do so away from other people. Perhaps a small area at the rear of the hotel for smokers or just ban it completely?

La gentillesse et l'amabilité des femmes que nous avons rencontrés lors de notre arrivée et au petit déjeuner. Merveilleux environnement.Nous avons passé un très bon séjour. Chambre très propre avec des petites attentions.

Wunderschönes Hause abseits der Hauptstrassen, auf denen man dennoch in drei Minuten ist. Großes Zimmer, pittoresk eingerichtet. Großer Flatscreen.

Frühstück ist eben englisch, das weiß man aber. Genauso wie die zwei Wasserhähne…

Food and drink in the evening in the restaurant

The breakfast, dangerous tiles in the bathroom, dangerous electric socket next to bed, bed head not attached to bed base. Window closures not secure. The room was unbearably hot. No milk for tea in room. Generally poor accommodation.

Prima hotel. Bedden waren goed, we hadden om een extra groot bed gevraagd (we zijn niet de kleinsten en vaak zijn de Engelse bedden twijfelaars) en die hebben we gekregen. Ontbijt goed verzorgd, maar wel echt Engels: bacon and eggs en (slappe) filterkoffie... dus daar moet je van houden. Personeel super vriendelijk. Het restaurant is goed. Niet heel gezellig, maar na een reisdag was het fijn dat we daar even wat konden eten.

Het hotel is wat gedateerd en mag wel een lik verf hier en daar. Kamers en badkamer zo goed als schoon, maar wel stof in de hoeken en veel kalkaanslag op de douchestang en kraan. Niet nodig lijkt mij, dus wat beter poetsen zou veel oplossen. Daarom ook mijn lagere beoordeling voor hygiene.

Lovely quiet Hotel in a beautiful setting, Thus Hotel has the grandeur of a much more costly stay. Large room, large en-suite, comfortable bed, excellent breakfast, Friendly helpful staff - what more could you ask for.

Very tired B&B. Unclean, no eating facilities for the evening meal.

Staff was very nice and did all they could for anything you asked, we had bed and breakfast, and could not fault it. There was plenty of choice at breakfast and a choice of drinks cold or hot, also nice and clean, the rooms were done every day.

A lift would be a very good idea, it was very hard for me to get up the stairs, also bathrooms need an update, blue water stains in the bath.

It felt like being at an Italian villa. The staff were personable and helpful.

Van buiten ziet het er geweldig uit, wat een prachtig gebouw. Personeel is heel vriendelijk en ontbijt is goed. De kamer was giga groot, in oude stijl. Ik voelde me bijna in een Hercule Poirot aflevering.

Geen airco, dus de kamer was zeer warm. Één bruikbaar stopcontact, 2 wanneer je de tv uitplugd en 3 wanneer je het bureau van de muur trekt en daar is er een voor een lamp. Badkamervloer is van smoezelig pvc.

The setting was beautiful, and created a great first impression, albeit the room was fairly 'standard'. Exceptionally good value with a great breakfast being included in our price. Special shout out to the staff member who was doing reception and managing breakfast - professional, friendly, helpful and efficient.

Some of the furniture in the room was a little 'utilitarian'.

Super nettes, wunderschönes kleines Hotel. Mit Ventilator ausgestattet, was bei der Hitze sehr angenehm war. Das Frühstück war spitze (nur Hashbrowns haben wir vermisst). Sehr zu empfehlen!

Very attractive country house hotel. Excellent, friendly service from Amanda. Well decorated and comfortable rooms. Perfect location in a rural setting but minutes from the M4. The food was delicious and very well presented.

Some of the tiles in the bathroom were cracked. They need more staff. The one lady on duty when we arrived and a different lady for breakfast the next day, simply had too many positions to cover (receptionist, barperson, waiter and telephonist).

Great stay. We had one night en route to Plymouth. We arrived late were greeted by the night manager. My partner worked the next morning and was given a huge room to use.

This elegant building had large rooms. A wall mounted flat screen TV, an ensuite bathroom, with a BIDET! I've not seen one of those in years... Staff were friendly, helpful and professional. Food was fresh, tasty and plentiful, and I enjoyed my dinner...the buffet style breakfast offered so much choice. Well presented, and although a cooked breakfast is not my choice, it proved popular with the other guests. I enjoyed fresh croissants, coffee, yoghurt and fresh pineapple and watermelon. The rooms and especially the bed linens were spotlessly clean, and the bed comfortable. The view over the gardens was lovely.

Furniture and decorations very much reflected the 1980s...a little tired, a little dated, the plumbing could be quite noisy. A bit of a time capsule! The public areas were elegant and well cared for, the sash windows were from anther era.

Room felt dated and not executive standard for the price we paid. The last Room we stayed in that was executive was much bigger and had a newly appointed bathroom. The bathroom in this room was dated and the shower was not great! The room was boiling hot when we arrived with the windows shut during a heatwave! Not great thinking! There are better places to stay for £140 near Swindon!

Although the room was spacious, spotlessly clean, the decor felt a little dated and in need of a bit of TLC. Not enough spare electrical sockets.

Paid £96 for a double room & charged £25 for our little dog with nothing extra provided in the room. Dirty toilet sink plughole with a dirty toilet bowl plus under toilet rimm both brown stained. Breakfast was poor with limited options of food that had obviously been laid out a while

Period property with history in a quiet setting just outside Swindon. Friendly staff and well kept gardens.

A lack of plug sockets in our rooms for charging phones, using hair straighteners and somewhere to plug in the Iron.

Lovely building with beautiful gardens in a peaceful location, yet very close to the M4

Restaurant closed for hot food at 7pm without any notice due to the hot weather and kitchen getting too hot after 7pm! We ended up ordering pizza delivery and eating in the garden. We’d chosen the hotel based on its reviews for meal options, so really disappointed that we’d been charged for the room before being given the option to look elsewhere 😔

It was lovely. Friendly welcome, bike storage shed, cool room in the heat, biscuit in the room, the garden and amazing trees, dog friendly, the food was delicious and the portions are very generous, breakfast included and all that for a very reasonable price.

It was all really good. I would have preferred a different soap perfume, less flowery. Also maybe the option to have smaller portions (as I hate wasting food)

Bed was only a double whereas a queen would have fitted. It was very hot. Reception should have informed us that there was a fan in the cupboard because we didn’t find it until the morning!

Building looks neglected and is in dire need of maintenance and upgrading. Outside furniture and cushions covered in bird droppings. Room: Drew back the room window curtains to find dead moths falling to the floor. Window frames rotting and it was difficult to get any sort of airflow even with them open; there is no AC, though there was an electric fan available (but then you are just moving hot air around). Food: Evening meal was fine. Breakfast was pretty basic in terms of range and choice of products. I had a full English breakfast and the bacon was inedible as it was a tough as leather. Options for anything cooked, other than the Full English, incurred a surcharge which seems like penny pinching.

The Chiseldon house hotel is a lovely old mansion. Big room, big bathroom, comfy bed, breakfast was good. And the packed lunch was great, the staff were very accommodating, offered me a bucket of ice for my feet after an 18 mile hike in the heat wave.

Unfortunately the bathroom blind has black mould on it (I imagine it doesn't get closed very often and has gone unnoticed), behide the headboard was dusty, and one of the windows was broken so it wouldn't close fully.
