Stylish with great pub on site

High bath
Very comfy bed - quiet location and ideally placed for our singing weekend 10 minutes away.

The room with two small single beds when booking.com had confirmed an extra large double bed.
Fantastic Breakfast included in the price Great location ,free parking ,VERY GOOD pub restaurant attached to hotel ,nice friendly staff, been there many times will be going back.
some things are a bit worn due to a lot of people staying .
What an excellent find , excellent base for hiking or cycling. Good choice of food in restaurant.

Fijne kamer met groot bed. Personeel was erg vriendelijk
Lovely cooked breakfast, nice looking room, average bed comfort, spa bath
Great location in lovely village with biking on the doorstep. Bike in Bike out !! Staff were friendly and helpful. Food at breakfast, & evening in the pub was hearty & good.
Was a little tired in places pick your room as our first one was not the best but we were moved with no fuss.
We loved breakfast in the restaurant and local beer at the pub. There were lots of options for the food and all the staff were friendly. I would like to stay the Hurtwood Hotel again. It was truly a great experience.
A lovely quiet hotel in a picturesque village . Staff are very welcoming. My room was very clean and spacious with a very comfortable bed. Hospitality tray well stocked and fresh milk available. Decent size towels provided and a very nice breakfast.
Location is beautiful. Bed was very large and extremely comfortable.
Several lights in the room didn't work. Breakfast wasn't great.
Booked for 2 nights. The room was clean and roomy. The hotel had an excellent freshly cooked breakfast selection and catered for individual food selections/modifications. Evening pizzas selection was good and ‘proper’ cooked pizza base (Hurtwood special pizza a must). Excellent stay.
Nothing really to dislike.
breakfast
Stayed here for a family wedding at nearby Coverwood Lake. Fantastic hotel. Rooms were spotless and tastefully furnished. We ate twice at the restaurant and food was delicious and reasonably priced. Breakfasts were amazing! Staff lovely - would recommend and stay again in a heartbeat.
Nothing.
Comfortable and warm.
very good everything
comfort, quite,brakfast included
I live within 10mins so easy to get to for a local ‘getaway’ escape within the Surrey Hills National park area………food was good with a lovely breakfast included with good options.
Nothing disappointed me, so all good for me & great value for overnight stay price paid.
The stay was excellent and as we expected
The only complaint could be the breakfast, which was not the most tasty or good quality
Location
The plumbing wasn’t great, had to hold the sink plug for the water to drain and the shower drain took ages to empty so it overflowed.
Mooie locatie
Properheid viel wat tegen
Great location for discovering the Surrey hills. Staff were very friendly and helpful, beds were comfortable great tea and coffee facilities and breakfast was excellent
The property needs a bit of TLC, we had some broken floor tiles in the bathroom and a broken window. The garden area could do with some tlc as it’s a great size and lovely area.
The Hurtwood Hotel is a marvellous place in a splendid location, the swarms of mountain bikers buzzing around outside make it even more special. The people that work here enhance this specialness even more, some of this lovely crew are Joe, Astrid, Freya, Fraser, Eileen and Lucy. The food is very good, most notably Michal’s steak and ale pie - a talented Polish pastry chef! I met people from many parts of Great Britain during my stay - Rob and Marcia from Cardiff (Rob had come to drive terribly fast at Dunsfold), George a former tight head prop forward from Edinburgh who taught us the pronunciation of whisky in Scots Gaelic and its meaning (“the water of life”) and Mark a Grimsby Town supporter who was at Brundell Park when they beat Manchester United on penalties in the League Cup last season).
Towards the end of a hilly walk with Stanley, my cockerpoo (who adored everyone he encountered and was adored by them all), I really fancied a cheese and pickle sandwich to go with my Surrey Hills Shere Drop - they don’t do sandwiches of a weekend 😢I had to make do with pork scratchings 😂
Leuke lokatie
Lovely hotel, couldn't be more British. Lovely staff who welcomed us very enthusiastic. Breakfast was perfect. We travel with a dog and she was very welcome. The hotel is located very close to a forest so perfect for walking
The room was very warm.
Great place in lovely surrounds. Wonderful staff and very comfy beds and pillows. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves
No biggie, we were close to the kitchen vent which now and then made us a bit hungry.
The friendliness of the staff was incredible. The choices of the breakfast were excellent. The room was very quiet which made it great for a good night sleep.
Lovely place in the Surrey hills

Location
Food in the restaurant extremely poor Unfortunately the guest in the next room was up all night with the TV on loud
Shout out to the lovely girl at reception who organised a sausage baguette for me to have at 6;30am before heading off for bridemaid duties. Breakfast was lovely as was the staff.
room was small for 3 of us to get ready in for a wedding but we managed :)
Travelled from the USA to visit English family in area - found this hotel. Beautiful old pub/hotel in very attractive countryside for walking / driving. Rooms were very comfortable, staff were helpful and friendly - would recommend strongly.
None
Beautiful location, lovely evening meal too. The only negative was the water was so hot, it was difficult to enjoy the shower
Nothing
Village was lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Bed was really comfortable.
Shower very slow.
Staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Room 4 - deluxe room had a bashed hole in main wooden bedroom door which was on the side of door facing into room ( door had probably banged against bed in past) . One window pane was missing and was taped up with black duct tape. Shower gel dispenser not good and was distorted, so hard to dispense. Gel seemed to be very watery . I did report this issue at end of stay as had own Shower gel. Thought to report so that next guest would not be affected. For a three star rating, would have expected a higher standard, hence this review. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Second to none location. One night ... two great hikes.
Smuk engelsk landsby og ægte kro-stemning.
Would not choose to eat in the restaurant. It was OK, but not as good as other pubs we have visited on our trio.
Lovely location, room (and bathroom) was big with a beautiful beamed ceiling. Bed was firm and comfortable. Towels were big and fluffy. Good lighting options in the room and plenty of wardrobe and drawers for storage. The included breakfast was fine, although the continental was limited to toast and cereal. The buttermilk pancakes were definitely crepes rather than the usual thick and fluffy type, there was no maple syrup so mine came with fruit instead of the requested bacon but we were in a rush so this was okay.
The shower head was a large rainfall one but only half the holes worked so it was more of a sporadic drizzle and the water was very hot. The WiFi was unreliable, to the point that the TV was unwatchable - but this meant we got better sleep and read a book instead so could be a plus rather than a minus!
Lovely location in pretty village. Good cooked breakfast served by lovely staff. Restaurant in Inn attached had delicious food.
Bathroom needed attention, shower not very good for what was described as a boutique hotel.
Friendly staff, nice meal
No fridge in room , poor water pressure
Beautiful setting. Breakfast was really good. Bed was super comfortable. All staff were lovely except for the barman!
Barman was rude and just didn't seem bothered to help!! Hotel could do with a bit of an update, window broken in our room and cracked tiles on bathroom. We had to go downstairs to get milk from the room which wasn't practical as it was so hot, it would have gone off by morning. Maybe milk sachets would be better?
Nice room, comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast choices. Friendly staff.
Cute little hotel in a pretty village. Friendly helpful staff and nice breakfast.
The location was beautiful, with lovely walks available in close vicinity to the hotel. We did a short walk that was advertised at reception on the Paeaslake.org website. The food was lovely, and well cooked and the staff we all extremely friendly and helpful. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend this hotel to anyone.
The only downside was that although a fan was provided, there wasn't an easily accessible plug socket to use it in. This wasn't a huge issue and wouldn't prevent me from booking here again.
A charming place with comfortable rooms in the beautiful Surrey countryside. Loved it!
Overall, I liked the location and of course the accommodation. The Staff were friendly and very helpful, what more could one ask for?
The one thing that disappointed me was the shower as it would have been great to have shower that could 'wake you up' especially after those warmer nights during summer.
lovely village, quiet, friendly
Location
Being with my Scrooge husband, who hates everything and moans and thinks the prices of drinks are the same as 2010. Other than that amazing 🤩
Location
It was a heat wave but rooms were super hot, no fans etc
Lovely hotel, my room was amazing
Great location and atmosphere.
The hotel is super tired - one of the window frames was totally rotten and painted over. The bedside table was wonky…..phone kept sliding off, bathroom tired.
Very warm, friendly staff. Great room, clean, comfortable & quiet. Decent breakfast.
Charming hotel in a beautiful village. Good pub downstairs. Clean and quiet.. Easy parking. Nice cooked breakfast.
The desk in my room was more of a design piece than a desk suitable for work.
Great location clean comfortable and friendly staff.Very good breakfast and pub food available
Mooi gelegen, heel vriendelijk en gastvrij
The second time we have stayed here and it is a wonderful place. The hotel is really comfortable. Our room was very spacious. They welcome your dog, there are beautiful places to walk and you can eat a great meal in the pub.
Nothing
The position and its was comfortable

The hotel has a really lovely, cosy feel to it. The staff were very welcoming and the room was lovely! Just what we had imagined in the Surrey Hills! Breakfast was delicious. Even better was the fact that it is attached to The Hurtwood Inn. Perfect to pop downstairs for a drink and fantastic food.
Nothing! It was all perfect!
Staff were lovely, room was good and breakfast was good. Amazing rural location.
There was a lot of mould in the bathroom. The TV reception was so poor in our room that it was unwatchable.
Eigenlijk was alles goed.
Mooie ruime, schone kamer. Hele leuke plek met gezellig pub/restaurant beneden. Prachtige omgeving.

Stunning location. The room was big and clean and lovely. Coffee machine etc was excellent and had everything we needed. Great nights sleep. It was lovely and quiet.
The full English breakfast was a little dissapointing. Could have done with cooking a bit longer (not saying it was raw though!)
Great place to stay. Beautiful little village. The room was spacious and I had a great nights sleep in the comfortable bed. We had a fantastic meal in the pub restaurant.
Hurtwood Hotel, was in my opinion, one of those rare places that simply out performed the scoring rate by a mile. 10/10 and some... Warm friendly atmosphere where everyone, and I mean everyone that walked through the door was made to feel welcome even the more challenging of clients I personally witnessed treated with the up most respect, the staff were truly outstanding, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The food was amazing we stopped three nights and ate like Kings every evening. While the venue was busy, it managed to maintain a level of tranquility in its setting, which I personally enjoyed. Its a venue I do wish to return to some time soon. Thank you to all the team.....
Handy location for my visit
I liked the property
Excellent place to get away from busy city life
Breakfast options were great. Rooms were comfortable (power shower excellent)
Staff at the restaurant/bar could have been quicker/more helpful - it really seemed like they didn’t want to be there.

Great location , lovely staff.
The hotel is a little tired , it needs to be updated decorated. The cleaning needs to be improved.the food at the pub needs improvement.
Beautiful scenic area. plenty to do around the hotel. lovely restaurant. very friendly staff
Okay positives the staff are super friendly, the Pizza was amazing and they have local beer which was great. The bed was very comfortable.
First off this is a strange one, There was lots to like but it was all overshadowed by the bits that let it down. if you look at my past reviews, I generally give glowing reviews, I value feedback in my business and always try to look on the good. I was in room 16 and the hotel has funky door locks, which worked well to unlock, but I couldnt figure out how to lock it again, and every time I tried it said battery low - its no big deal to me and I didnt mention it as I dont ever leave anything valuable in my room anyway and it just meant that I didnt need to use. the lock again. The shower was at best a tiny diribble and I mean that, just a dribble, the room is at the top and end of the hotel. It was almost to the point I didnt bother showering and just washed. The kettle is in a strange place with the worlds shortest lead, every time I lifted the kettle off the stand it dropped under the table. The TV only gets BBC1 with a clear signal, EVERY other channel is glitchy and just unwatchable. The breakfast (only had it the first day) was terrible, the bacon was barey cooked, the mushrooms, tinned were luke warm at best, the toast was limp, great bread but just not toasted. The strangest one for me is the milk situation, I was up 2 flights of stairs, along 2 hallways etc, the milk is fresh and stored in a fridge in the dining room which doubles up as reception, I just couldnt be bothered or had the capacity to carry the little bottles to the room - I know this bit is not the hotels problem but I recently had a hip replacment so with my bags, laptop etc, it was all just too much.
The location.
Cleanliness, repairs needed in room (rotten skirting board, big crack in ceiling above shower, paint flaking off walls in bathroom), breakfast looked good but not nice (mushrooms out of a tin, too much bacon and some of it was grey in colour, felt like it needed to be used so they gave us extra) very noisy on one night in particular as our room was above the bar and thumping music didn't stop until 11.15 pm. Watr hadn't been emptied out of the kettle or coffee machine from previous occupants and the binbag in the bathroom had been changed so still had rubbish in. Only a small amount of shower gel in bottle which was watery and the top of the pump of the conditioner bottle had broken so when I took it off to use the conditioner, there was mold around the top of the bottle.
I got treated to breakfast by a friend. Delicious.
Nothing That comes to mind.
Everything was as it should be. Staff were welcoming, and showed us to our room, which was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good and was plentiful. Lovely village location
The location was a pleasant surprise, surrounded by wonderful woodland on a picturesque village setting. Easy parking too! The breakfast was fabulous, with an extensive menu selection and locally sourced food, well presented and tasty. Continental and cooked breakfast included in the price.
There were some signs of damp in the older window unit in the room, and a small patch of black mould on the ceiling. However overall the room was clean and everything worked. Appreciated that the issue was likely one of ventilation where windows were not opened. It was not clear where the reception was to check in so some clearer signage would be useful.

Location
9.4/10Consistently praised: excellent spot for Surrey Hills, close to forest and walking routes — a standout feature for many guests.

9/10Guests explicitly mentioned great value for the overnight price and generally felt the stay offered good return for cost.

8.2/10Many guests enjoyed the food and breakfasts with good choices (notable praise for some dishes), though a few found breakfast quality or taste less impressive and weekend sandwich options limited.
Overall Experience
9.2/10Overall very positive stays: marvellous location, friendly staff and enjoyable atmosphere for most guests, despite some maintenance and cleanliness drawbacks.
