All the staff were great, there was a really good atmosphere, food was good and the location was good. I especially liked the 'beer flights', I tried all 6 types made on site, 1/3 pint at a time! What more could you ask for?
Nothing much. I suppose the room was a little tired but that was all part of the charm. Parking nearby could be difficult but we found a slot 100 yds away and there is a big car park quite close.
The atmosphere cosy commutable and quaint.
Restricted parking all around the area.
Location and food and drink
Comfortable and clean room in an excellent position in Bury. Great staff and really good breakfast made ours a great stay.
Within easy walking distance of town centre
I have stayed here before and thought that it was possible to park nearby, unfortunately the residents parking has been extended to 8 pm, so parking close by was difficult.
Frokosten var fet og ikke noe særlig. Beliggenheten var ok.
En smal cindeltrapp i stål opp til rommet. Tepper og vegger var ikke så rene.
Great staff, great value for money and great place to stay
Lovely staff, excellent breakfast, really nice location.
Absolutely fantastic stay and great hosts
Parking
Very friendly staff. Very clean and room excellent.
Breakfast was disappointing. Burnt toast, overcooked bacon and mushroom and small portion size.
Very friendly staff, comfortable bed and interesting to find out about the brewing process.
The paint needs sorting around the shower, minor but looks tired
Friendly, clean and comfortable to stay overnight. Good value. Definitely happy to highly recommend.
We didn't manage to have an evening meal as the kitchen had stopped serving by 6pm as it was a Sunday.. .however the menu looked good and breakfast was delicious

Clean and tidy. Comfortable
Lack of parking and nearly parking wasn't really that near when carrying heavy bags
L'accueil, la gentillesse du personnel, et les petits déjeuner copieux
Fantastic atmosphere, great accommodation, rooms not spoiled by modernisation. Staff efficient and friendly. Beer 👍🏻🍻Loved it, will return
Nice outside bar and good food
Parking could be better. Too far to walk
small room but comfortable. Seasonally very hot so uncomfortable at night. Breakfast was satisfactory and welcome!
a cooler night
We have stayed at the Old Cannon Brewery 3 times previously. Checking in was fine and luckily, we parked outside as parking can be an issue! Breakfast was included and was very good! Bed was very comfy and shower was good.
Unfortunately, we were in Room 1 which is street level. The room has cobwebs and shower a bit of mould but the biggest issue is noise as the room has no air con, we had to have the window open and were disturbed through the night by passing revellers!! Unlucky with the room i guess as the previous stays were fine.

What a hidden little gem!!! Only a five minute walk into the main part of B St E. From the moment we arrived to be greeted with a very warm welcome. The pub itself is absolutely charming and immaculate. Outside area is lovely and well laid out as is the inside of the pub. Bar service great! My husband really enjoyed the beer, which is brewed on the premises. Two incredible looking Vats in the pub. Our room (no7) was cosy, the bed extremely comfortable, the ensuite great with good over sink mirror lighting for us girls applying make up. Excellant storage space with wooden hangers (nice touch). You order brekkie the night before, so no long wait. The brekkie itself was prefect. Chap who served us was really good. Great selection. Lady who cleaned our room very friendly and smiley. Whilst the building, facilities and choices there I must say the staff are a real assett 10/10 all round. Thank you for a great stay:-)
Lovely Central location. Nice size double room with good bathroom/shower. Cooked Breakfast was lovely, continental was basic but did the job. Great beer garden to sit in which closed at 11 so didn't affect our sleep
break fast was fantastic and the room was very good size with a nice clean bathroom. Access was available at any time through a coded gate for those late returners
car parking rules have recently changed in street outside where it is mostly permit parking now but found a car park 5 mins walk away
Great location, nicely decorated, large outdoor space
Breakfast basic
Room location to noisy walls very thin heard someone snoor there face off all nite ridiculous not a wink of sleep bar closed early at 730 for some reason dogs fed in pub should be a no no
Old world but with modern amenities and my room was on the ground floor. Friendly staff with clear instructions.
Nothing
Quirky but lovely
Lovely room , very clean and airy (considering the heat) . Breakfast was one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had in an hotel! Amazing…. Thank you
The welcome from staff was outstanding, the pub and outside space fantastic, easy walk into Bury
All very good, our room could have done with a little TLC ,but it was ok.
Staff were really helpful and friendly. Room was pleasant and whilst no air conditioning, fans were provided for the hot weather.
No clear details provided on the website that parking around the venue was based on resident permit or short stays. The nearest long stay car park was a good 10-15 minute walk away. Rooms were pleasant but we weren’t told that these would be accessed via a metal fire escape staircase, which made carrying luggage up and down precarious. We coped but this and the parking were not clearly specified on the Booking.com site.
Just where we needed to be
No car parking

Lovely warm welcome and good food. My husband thought the beer was great!
Zentrumsnähe-Parkgelegenheit vor dem Haus-sehr freundliche Chefin-gutes Frühstück, Gutes Essen
Es gab kein übliches Toastbrot!
The beers and location.
Breakfast was cooked at least an hour before and kept under a headlamp, the black pudding was like a biscuit it was so dried out. Sadly the bacon fat was still translucent and not cooked enough. 2nd breakfast was eggs benedict and that took a lot to be desired, the egg yolk wasn't runny, it was hard boiled and the hollandaise sauce was processed. Disappointed to say the least.
I've been to the Cannon Street many times as a drinker but first time staying as a guest and very happy. The room was large enough, the breakfast was delicious, and the team was good. I stayed for two nights and the room was made up with fresh biscuits, which were appreciated. And of course if you are a beer fan, you can't miss out on trying a couple of flights of their beer.
Nothing really stands out.
Mini brewery on site, excellent beers and great staff.
Only downside was no parking 10 to 15 minutes walk
Breakfast was excellent, staff lovely, quirky
Couldn't find Wi-Fi password. Couldn't open window for ventilation, awkward access via fire escape.
Clean modern room
We ask on arrival re parking and was told we could park in the area at the front of the hotel until 10am. This was also on the wall in the room. We got a parking ticket at 9.25am. Advised hotel but they are not interested Very disappointing

The bedroom was great and very comfortable. The en suite was nice with shower. It was fab staying at a working micro brewery. The staff were so friendly and and the home cooked breakfast with local produce delicious. As were the teas and coffees
Lovely old property with lots of character. The bedroom was very comfortable with a great walk in shower. We didn’t eat there as we had a working supper elsewhere but the food looked good. We did however try the beer brewed on the premises and it was absolutely excellent. The staff were also warm, welcoming and helpful. This was a work trip and we normally stay in Premier Inns, the Old Cannon Brewery was such a refreshing change. Being checked in by a human being who smiled and chatted rather than an irritating touchscreen was absolutely priceless. We would definitely stay there again.
Nothing.
Great place. Pub quiz was fun and it had character. Staff were fab
We stayed at the old canon brewery on a Wednesday evening at the start of our four day Wolf Way cycle tour around Suffolk. The staff were exceptionally friendly and couldn’t do enough to help us. The food was excellent and by chance it was quiz night when we stayed which was great fun to be involved with. The following day I realised that I’d left my AirPods in the room. When I rss as big they had already been collected and put in the lost property, so we could collect them on our return a few days later
Unique place to stay, especially as I worked for a brewery before retiring. Breakfast & evening meal were both excellent. Nice clean room. All staff were very friendly & attentive. Would definitely stay again & recommend to others
Nothing not to like about the property. Only problem is limited restricted parking but long stay car park is a short walk away & only £3.50 per day.
Great location, fabulous restaurant, clean & comfortable room and good selection of beer!
Car park was nearly half-a-mile away.
Booked for Parents, food and overnight stay. Lady who I spoke to was most helpful and my parents were very much impressed.
Nothing to not like
Location
The accommodation on the surface looked clean but on closer examination was quite dusty and needed updating and TL
We have started a few times now,, the location is great,, pleasant staff,, great breakfast included.
In the city, walkable to the centre. Great place to stay, good food and drinks.
It's a bit noisy but it's a pub so not disproportionately bad
Great location with comfortable clean rooms
Staff were friendly and very kind
Very interesting staying in a brewery
All was fine
I've stayed here a few times. Will always be my first choice in Bury St Edmonds. Convenient for the rail station, and a short work into the town (up a quite steep gradient). Brews it's own beers which are aways interesting and pleasant. The rooms are basic but clean and pleasant and the breakfast is hearty. Possibly pricey but I did book on the day. There's a nice covered courtyard that I didn't get to use this time around.
The walk up to the town - but Bury is built on a hill so expect some healthy exercise built into your trip wherever you stay.
Very comfortable bed. Anna was particularly helpful. Good breakfast veggie and meat. Nice atmosphere. Just back from the main shops so best of both world.
We were lucky with parking but could see that it could be a problem.
De ligging, vriendelijk personeel en het ontbijt
Rolgordijnen, luxaflex was fijner geweest. De buitentrap naar de kamer was niet briljant
Great place to stay, full of character. Friendly staff.
Small thing, but not enough toilet roll in room.
Nothing needs to be said. It was just perfect
Nothing negative to say
Hannah is an especially proactive GM. The food and beer are of a particularly high standard and the ‘pub’ has a great atmosphere with very attentive staff.
A recent comment was quite negative about parking; a whole thesis could be written about parking in Bury St Edmunds. Drop off the bags and passengers who cannot walk very far and take the car to the Ram Meadow car park for £10.50 per week, a 10-min walk from the Old Cannon.
Breakfast was excellent-generous and good quality. All the staff were friendly and helpful.
On site parking would have been helpful-we were recommended a car park which was 10 minutes walk away. We weren’t impressed by the access to our room-via an exterior metal staircase which looked quite slippery.
Great location lovely pub and staff
Great location, comfortable bed, friendly staff.
Nothing
We use The Old Canon Brewery quite often .location
The parking situation is not good... we booked well in advance but was given a very small room
Friendly staff. Good breakfast.
This was our second stay, and we had a much bigger and more comfortable room. The pub itself is lively with a great atmosphere. We had an evening meal and breakfast, both of which were excellent.
We knew this, but the very limited on-street parking is an issue, though unavoidable. There are car parks about ten minutes walk away, and there were no complaints in our party of seven.
Room was nice and an excellent bathroom with large fluffy towels.
Breakfast was painful. Only one member of staff on so service very slow and buffet not topped up.
Great food, excellent room and very attentive staff.
Booking.com say there is parking. There is not. Very disappointing.
All was excellent 👌
Nothing all good
The bed was comfortable and the room spacious. The bathroom was very clean. The staff were friendly and the bar and food were very good
The pillows were very flat but other than that everything was great
The Room was very spacious and comfortable. The natural lighting was great!
The stairs to take to the sleeping facilities were narrow.
Staff very friendly and excellent beers
Parking is difficult
Friendly, helpful staff. Good atmosphere. Room very comfy and lovely breakfast. Will definitely stay again.
V friendly staff
No parking! Rooms could do with upgrade!
Great location Breakfast was excellent Comfy spacious rooms
Great beer and atmosphere
It was like staying in a posh hotel....breakfast was superb......
Friendly staff, very comfortable and well-appointed room. Excellent food!
Picky, but a comfortable chair in the bedroom - there's room!
Staff were really lovely, friendly and helpful. The bar area were you eat was just so vibrant and bright, a pleasure to be in.
The bed could have been more comfortable. We stayed in Room 1 and the mattress wasn't flat which did affect my sleep. Maybe a new mattress. Parking is an issue, it wasn't for us because we were totally ok with the 7 minute walk
The room was comfortable and the shower room/toilet was good. The hot chocolate sachet was a welcome addition.
I had a ground floor room. When I arrived the window had been left slightly open. Unfortunately, people were smoking right outside my window, so there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke in the room. For dinner, I ordered the 'five bean burger' and specified that I have an allergy to vinegar. The waitress came to check my dietary requirements, but when the meal arrived, there was a pot of slaw which included mayonnaise - which is made with vinegar. Also, the 'five bean burger' was actually something resembling overcooked felafel - definitely not a 'five bean burger'. Another in my group ordered the same but specified vegan. Again, his meal arrived with the mayonnaise-based slaw. Mayonnaise is made with egg which is not vegan.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were amazing and very filling. Complimentary hot drinks and biscuits in the room. Very close to the station as we were travelling by train and a short walk from town.
Service charge put on the bill for evening food and drinks, although we were asked if we wanted it deducted we would prefer not to have it automatically added. Despite that we did pay it. Our room was directly over the pub which was okay but if you prefer an early night, could be noisy. But to be expected if staying in a pub.
Loved the friendly staff, amazing breakfast included in the price. Who wouldn't want to stay in a brewery, with an added bonus of an Easter beer festival. Loved it.
Staff were friendly and helpful. It's a lovely pub, which sells lovely beer made by their own brewery. Room was lovely and comfortable and had everything we needed. Had a good sleep and a lovely freshly cooked breakfast Would definitely visit again.
Vegetarian sausages would have made my Husband's vegetarian breakfast perfect. He wasn't keen on the smashed advocado.
Kind, friendly, helpful, and welcoming staff. Larger room than expected, clean, with very comfortable bed and hot shower. Excellent location, near to the town centre. Very relaxed pub interior, with superb beer.
Hard to fault. The walls between the rooms are a little thin - noise travels (although, it was still perfectly quiet). No parking outside - but plenty about 10 minutes walk away. Breakfast a little basic, but still very welcome.
Ottima struttura, un vecchio birrificio.. camera spaziosa e accogliente, così pure il bagno. In 5 minuti si arriva in centro . Buona colazione e cena.
Nulla da rilevare
Lovely staff, great food! Bed was very comfortable :) Good location
Front doors need oiling ! If you’re in a ground floor room its to noisy, you can hear people stomping around above you:(
Everything: room, drink & food.
Nothing. I even got lucky with parking outside.
Location is good.
Good value for money. Excellent breakfast
We have visited before and are always made to feel welcome.. Excellent breakfast. Comfortable rooms
Location good food comfortable
Location, room, beer, food, friendly staff!
A fair walk from the car park. Fortunately it was dry.
The warm room.
Bizarre breakfast ordering system and very slow service. The code was badly written and had a passing staff member not intervened at 23.30 we would have been locked out.
Friendly, helpful staff, good value for money. Quiet location a short walk from the heart of Bury.
Location. Good room and very good food
Lovely atmosphere, very relaxed, fabulous room, great food and beer.
Nothing!
Lovely beer, nice atmosphere. Nice big beer garden.
The pub aspect was lovely, the room however was a little disappointing for the price (£130 for the night). We were told the TV didn’t work as we were shown to our room, which although wasn’t the end of the world, was missed just before bed to wind down and drown out the noise from outside. Also would have been nice to have put it on when we woke up. There was no parking- again not a big deal as there’s plenty in town just a 10 minute walk away, but I expected the room and facilities to make up for that. The toilet flush was extremely temperamental. We ordered breakfast the afternoon before (smashed avocado) but they didn’t have any avocado the next morning. Again, small things that could easily be fixed and that you’d expect for £130 per night. Also I was confused about the food they did there because the website menu looked completely different to the ones on display there, so as it’s a little out of town we decided not to risk eating there and found somewhere in town instead.
Ideally located for our needs
Friendly staff. Nice atmosphere
Nothing
The fact that we were staying in a brewery with a lovely pub feeling was fab. Within walking distance of the centre. Staff were very friendly & accommodating. Food & beers are yummy, 😋 room was spacious and comfortable. Great value for money with a fabulous breakfast offering included in the price. Set us up nicely for our onward journey to Calláis. They have a lovely outdoor area that unfortunately we didn’t use due to the temperatures but it looked really nice.
The only thing I could say was the room could have been slightly warmer.
