I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The hotel is very well maintained, clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly, welcoming and always happy to help. The breakfast was good, with a nice selection of options to start the day. The rooftop is absolutely beautiful and offers a lovely atmosphere and wonderful views, making it a great place to relax. Overall, a lovely hotel with great service and a very pleasant atmosphere. I would definitely recommend staying here!

Alexandra es muy simpática amable y servicial! El hotel tiene una terraza desde donde las vistas son maravillosas de toda la ciudad antigua. El desayuno muy completo. La verdad es que el personal estuvo atento en todo momento.

El alojamiento afirmaba tener parking en las inmediaciones. No era cierto puesto que se encuentra en una zona donde no se puede acceder con el coche. Además, aparcar es complicado y siempre de pago.

The service from the staff was impeciable. Always willing to help and be flexiable were possible. Room was cleaned so well. It was nice and quiet at night. Location was amazing, right by the harbour and a historic traditional building.

The single room was way too small and frigde was tiny. Can only fit drinks. The window is small so it felt a little boxed in. I would defo go back but choose a different room. Breakfast could be better but does the job. Loved the location but for those who want door to door drop offs, cars cant enter the old town.

If you dream of waking up to the beautiful views of Chania, this is definitely the right place to stay. Our room was very comfortable, spotlessly clean, and made us feel completely at ease throughout our stay. Even if your room doesn’t have a sea view, the hotel has a lovely terrace for guests where you can enjoy the same wonderful scenery overlooking Chania and the sea. A special thank you to our host, Vasilis, for his kindness, warm hospitality, and for making our stay even more enjoyable. We truly had a lovely experience and would happily stay here again!

The property was charming and beautifully presented. The location was really good - being in the heart of the old town. The staff were very friendly, and went out of their way to advise of good restaurants and great places to visit. The breakfast was delicious and the room service each day was excellent. The balcony area was really nice, where you can sit comfortably to enjoy the spectacular views. We would thoroughly recommend staying here.

The bathroom and main room are quite small, making it difficult to move around with luggage on the floor. There are steep internal steps to the room we were staying in. This wasn’t a problem for us, but could be for others.

Εξαιρετική εμπειρία! Το κατάλυμα βρίσκεται σε τέλεια τοποθεσία, ακριβώς στο κέντρο της πόλης, είναι πεντακάθαρο, μικρό, παραδοσιακό και πραγματικά πανέμορφο. Το πρωινό ήταν υπέροχο, αλλά το αγαπημένο μου σημείο ήταν χωρίς αμφιβολία η όμορφη αυλή και το rooftop. Και φυσικά, ένα μεγάλο ευχαριστώ για την υπέροχη εξυπηρέτηση της Αλεξάνδρας και του Βασίλη! La struttura è ottimamente posizionata nell'affascinante centro storico di Chania, facilmente raggiungibile a piedi e con affaccio diretto sul porto veneziano. Il giovane Vasilis, il titolare, ama l'Italia ed è gentile, disponibile e garbato. Non lesina consigli, suggerimenti e fa di tutto per rendere confortevole il soggiorno dei suoi clienti. La camera che ci è stata assegnata è molto spaziosa ed è dotata di tutti i comforts.

Parcheggiare nei pressi del centro storico di Chania, specie in alta stagione, è problematico. Arrivati il 2.7, abbiamo trovato già moltissimi turisti. Tuttavia la situazione, in generale (ristoranti, spiagge ecc.), non è ancora congestionata. Sembra che il periodo migliore per andare a Creta e viverla con maggiore tranquillità sia tra il 20.9 e il 20.10.

This hotel has everything you need for the perfect holiday. Nice location, the best staff, breakfast included and the most charming building. The hotel owner Vasilis was always available and helped me with everything. I was a solo traveller and he made me feel so safe and Welcome! Would recommend 10/10 times for both solo travellers and couples/friend groups.

Der var sparret på kvaliteten af morgenmad. Appelsinerne, som blev anvendt til juice, var blege og smagte af ingenting. Vi troede først at saften blev fortyndet med vand., men så at det blev den ikke. Det blev til gengæld kaffen. Når der blev taget et par kopper af kaffekanden, så blev kanden fyldt op med kogende vand. Så først til mølle, hvis du ikke ville have en tynd kop kaffe.

Posizione eccellente. Stanza con vista mozzafiato sul porto vecchio. Personale gentilissimo. Vasilis mi ha anche assistito in una mia disavventura con la polizia greca (occhio!), anche dopo la mia partenza.

It was exceptional from every angle. The room is in the heart of Chania, within walking distance of everything, and it was an absolute pleasure staying in this beautiful house. It’s an antique property, incredibly well looked after, almost like a listed building. In fact, the whole of Chania feels like a listed city. The room itself, despite not being huge, is thoughtfully designed. Air conditioning, a comfortable bed, lovely pillows, beautiful windows, a terrace, and a fridge stocked with drinks everything you could need. The bathroom is a modern walk in wet room, and even things we didn’t need, like a hairdryer, were there nevertheless. It is fully equipped and impossible to fault. Everything is done with great attention to detail. High-quality china, beautifully white sheets with no stains, and impeccable cleanliness throughout. It genuinely feels like a five star hotel. We chose the room with the terrace, and it was an excellent decision. If you can book that room, it is definitely worth it. I saw many properties with much larger rooms, but sacrificing a little indoor space is absolutely worth it for that balcony. The view of the harbour is simply to die for. We also had the pleasure of meeting Alexandra, who works in the breakfast area. The breakfast is lovely. They cook fresh eggs exactly how you like them and serve delicious local cheese and Greek yoghurt. They also serve an apricot jam made by the owner’s grandmother, which was absolutely delicious. It became something I looked forward to every morning with my yoghurt. Airport transfers were effortless. They booked our taxi at the standard local rate, with no overcharging. The driver was polite, punctual, and professional. One thing to note is that cars are not allowed directly next to the hotel because it is located within the historic old town. However, the walk to the nearest area accessible by car is only about three minutes, so it never caused us any inconvenience with taxis.

As for the negatives, we really had to look hard to find one. Early in the morning, the cute electric recycling lorry comes to collect the glass bottles from the nearby bars and restaurants, so if, like us, you sleep with the windows wide open, you might hear clinking. We suspect that if we’d closed the windows, it wouldn’t have been an issue at all, as the room itself seemed very well soundproofed. In a funny way, we actually liked it. It reminded us how clean and organised the city is and how seriously they take recycling. You may also hear the gentle hum of people enjoying themselves late into the night, but this is the old harbour in one of the most touristic towns in Greece. It never felt intrusive to us. if anything, it became a sort of pleasant white noise. It also says something lovely about Crete.. young people can enjoy themselves until the early hours, and the atmosphere still feels completely safe and relaxed. If you require absolute silence and expect to hear nothing but a pin dropping, perhaps staying in the heart of Chania’s old town isn’t for you.. or perhaps simply close the windows! For us, it added to the charm and never interrupted our sleep

Breakfast was nice and it is in a great location.

The mini bar was so packed with sodas, beers and wine that we had a difficult time trying to chill our own beverages.

Te kleine kamer en badkamer (zelfs geen tegels vloer, noch wanden) Ontbijt: heel pover, weinig keuze. Lawaai glascontainers ophalen 6u. Bed : slechte matras ondersteund door losse planken van10cm breedte. Helemaal geen lattenbodem.

Perfectly placed, great sea view! It is a beautiful property & the owner is ver knowledgable. There is a fridge in room which is stocked & refilled with soft & alcoholic drinks. Great selection at breakfast from granola, Greek yoghurt, pastries from a local bakery, toast, fresh coffee & eggs of your choice!

Balcony access was via a ground floor spiral staircase & past two there guests bedroom windows! With such a beautiful view it would be great to sit out there at night. A door is needed!

The location of the hotel could not have been better; we were close to everything, specifically in Old Town Chania! The owner was great and extremely accommodating. One of the main reasons we chose Captain Vasilis was because of breakfast being included in the deal, and it did not disappoint. They also really stayed on top of cleanliness. Would recommend for travellers who want a more local and relaxed experience!

What could have been better was the size and comfort of the rooms. The bed wasn't super comfortable, and the location of my room was close to reception so it was a bit noisy in the early and late hours. It wasn't a deal breaker for me though!

Vasilis ist Ausserordentlich hilfsbereit und nett. DZ Deluxe mit Terrasse und Meerblick, tolle Aussicht.

Chania hat offenbar hohes Preisniveau. 4 Stern ist nicht vergleichbar mit Nordeuropa Ansprüche.

Die Lage direkt am Hafen und der Blick vom Balkon auf den Hafen ist einzigartig. Das Service Personal ist sehr aufmerksam und freundlich.

From the moment we stepped into the Captain Vasilis Hotel, our host was welcoming, and it soon became clear that we had booked one of those rare hotels right in the heart of Chania, not only within the beautiful old town itself, but also as part of its history. We later discovered that our host was in fact the grandson of the real and famous Captain Vasilis, who once lived in this very house before it was converted into a hotel. Step outside and you are surrounded by excellent restaurants, narrow old passageways and the beautiful old port. We booked the double room with a private terrace, Room 4, which had a stunning view overlooking the old port. Day or night, it was a feast for the eyes. Definitely recommended.

One point to be aware of, although this is no fault of the hotel: cars are not permitted in the old town itself, so there is a short walk of around 3 minutes from the nearest accessible point. Parking can be a little difficult if you have a hire car, as the town recently introduced paid parking in the nearby streets and car parks. At the time of our visit, parking was limited to a maximum of 4 hours, with free parking between 9:00pm and 7:00am. However, if you are happy to park slightly outside the immediate old town area, you should be able to find free street parking.

Excellent stay for a few days. Spectacular harbor view, romantic rooms in a 14c building, so cool! Totally charming and very walkable area. Nice breakfast and lovely proprietors; we felt like family. Book it and be done. First class.

La chambre (6), annoncée avec terrasse, ne présente un accès à cette terrasse qu': -en passant par la fenêtre!!! ou -en descendant par un escalier à l'étage inférieur, puis en remontant par un escalier extérieur en colimaçon, puis en traversant la terrasse de la chambre voisine en franchissant ses limites privatives!!!

La sedicente camera matrimoniale standard di 15 mq corrispondeva a una camera lillipuziana di 9mq + 2,5mq del bagno, dove mancavano gli spazi essenziali per ogni manovra. Inoltre il tutto non era all'altezza di un 4 stelle. Materasso sfondato, malgrado il topping cosmetico. Ci siamo dovute arrangiare chiedendo un filo volante aggiuntivo per potere ricaricare i telefoni perché non c'erano prese in camera, salvo quelle già occupate dalle luci dei comodini. Bagno microscopico cieco senza un sistema di areazione. Tutte le mattine alle 5 il fragore delle bottiglie di vetro buttate dai numerosi ristoranti attorno.

Der Blick auf den Hafen ist traumhaft, sowohl aus dem Zimmer als auch von der Terrasse, die unser Lieblingsplatz war. Die Lage ist ideal. Direkt am Hafen und in der Altstadt, zum Strand und zum Supermarkt zu Fuß maximal 15 Minuten. Alles ist sehr privat und familiär. Konstantina war sehr freundlich, sie und Vasilis haben uns viele Tipps gegeben und sich rührend um uns gekümmert. Zum Frühstück auf Wunsch verschiedenste Eierspeisen, frisch gepresster, Orangensaft und diverse Kaffees, auch griechischer. Zimmer und WC wurden immer gründlich gereinigt. Wichtig zu wissen für die, die gern bei offenem Fenster schlafen: Obwohl wir die erste Oktoberhälfte dort waren, herrschte im Hafen Trubel bis weit in die Nacht. Vasilis stellt gern Ohrstöpsel zur Verfügung. Die Zimmer haben allerdings auch Klimaanlage...

Der Vorteil ist gleichzeitig der Nachteil: Die Lage direkt am venezianischen Hafen. Nur 6 Zimmer, in einem 400 Jahre alten Haus, ordentlich ausgestattet, auch mit neuer Klimaanlage. Eine tolle Aussicht, tolle Atmosphäre, von der Dachterrasse eine tolle Atmosphäre. Das bedeutet aber auch: Zugang durch die engen Gassen der Altstadt, keine Zufahrt mit dem Auto. Parken im öffentlichen Raum/an Straßen, so dass man mit dem Gepäck unter Umständen relativ weit zu Fuß laufen muss. Nachts ist es, zumindest im Sommer, von dem Treiben am gut besuchten Hafen, ziemlich geräuschvoll. Die Holz-Schlagläden dämpfen zwar etwas, man darf aber nicht empfindlich sein, unbedingt mit offenem Fenster schlafen wollen, - oder man feiert einfach mit. Kann aber bis 3 Uhr in der Nacht gehen… Das Personal ist sehr freundlich, gibt gute Tipps für Restaurants und Ausflüge in und um Chania! Das Frühstück ist „klein“, aber vollständig: verschiedene Kaffee oder Tee, frisch gepresster Orangensaft, diverse frisch zubereitete Eier, Brot, Wurst, Käse, Joghurt, frisches Obst, Cerejalien…. Alles da. Besonderen Dank an Konstantina, die leider nur vorübergehend (als Studentin in den Ferien) dort arbeitet.

Der Service war unschlagbar. Es handelt sich um ein Familienhotel.

The location couldn’t be more perfect. The view of the port from the window is gorgeous! The room was cleaned every day and it was superb. The staff is amazing and very helpful.

We got the double standard room with sea view, and it was an awesome experience. The room itself had such cute furniture and spectacular views of the harbor. We had private patio in front of our room (when booking we thought it was a common area, but thankfully it was not!). There were no doors to the patio, but there were a pair of chairs and a small coffee table in the patio which we were allowed to use by jumping from the window. The staff was very friendly. Overall a great experience, would definitely recommend staying at captain Vasilis hotel.

My room was small and compact but had everything I needed and was refreshed by housekeeping everyday.

We liked the location, the cleanliness(good job, Maria!), and Constantina(the girl at the reception and the one who served us breakfast) - a wonderful, truly professional person, someone who is dedicated and loves what she does. A hotel that offers a magnificent view. It was worth it!

We had a fantastic stay at Captain Vasilis Hotel, a small and charming traditional hotel perfectly located right in the center of the old Venetian Harbour. The location couldn't have been better—everything in the Old Town was just a short and easy walk away, yet the hotel still felt peaceful and welcoming. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and beautifully equipped with all the modern comforts we could ask for—an excellent air conditioning system, a well-stocked minibar, a Nespresso machine, and , a modern bathroom with a great shower. The real highlight, though, was the stunning view over the harbour—absolutely magical at sunrise and sunset. Each morning, we enjoyed a traditional breakfast served with warm hospitality. The local yogurt was especially delicious—fresh, creamy, and the perfect way to start the day. Housekeeping kept the room immaculate with daily cleaning, which we really appreciated. Captain Vasilis Hotel truly blends traditional charm with modern comfort, and the friendly atmosphere made us feel right at home.
