was very disappointed - there was nothing to like
stairs and entrance were not clean. the room was so small you couldn't swing a cat! there was no TV
location
sitting veranda had yellow taped off area
Rustic
Room was ready before check in time. Appliances worked good. There was a welcome message with a tea party and cake.
The floor above squeaked all hours of the night from the guests right above us.
Great location
A bit run down, basic facilities
The proximity to town central
The room was very aged. No lamps for any of the beds in the bedrooms. The noise from the other tenants was easily heard throughout the walls, especially the room above. Footsteps were heard as if in the same room. Bathroom was small. No AC.
Beautiful king bedroom with a jacuzzi tub in the bedroom and a nice shower tub combo in the bathroom. We don’t use the jacuzzi but was impressed and surprised it was there! The hand carved bed was beautiful as was the quilt and bedding. We appreciate the coffee, tea, and homemade cookies! Quiet and centrally located in town.
The bathroom sink area was dated compared to the beautiful bedroom. The old office area could use an update.
Bed comfortable. Plenty of towels. Over all look of the room. Dust free...
Large Potato chip crumbs on the carpet. Fan in the room did it's best to keep the room cool....could use an upgrade. Had to keep fixing the fan's cover from falling off.
Waterton and the street the hotel is located in is a super location.
general state of dilapidation of terraces, stairs, unhygienic carpets, bathrooms with mold on the tubs. Poorly or superficial cleaning of the rooms. During our 3 day stay nobody attended the rooms to make up to make up beds, cleaning the room or refreshing of towels etc. No telephone, no TV in the rooms. No staff available (we were redirected to the hotel lobby of another hotel across the road). Smelly corridors where other guests cook strong curries in their rooms.
Close to everything.
Security light shining through windows at night, could hear people in next room talking all night.
All was good
nothing
no TV, narrow stairs to the room.
The room was clean and newly renovated. In a great location that u could walk to anything
The furniture was really perfect for the room. The bed was comfortable and made of beautiful carved wood. The jacuzzi tub was clean. The restaurant at the hotel across the street was great value and great tasting.
Niet gedaan.
Gevaarlijk
nice location
It was in a beautiful place and so easy to get to. The room was large and comfortable.
Tiny and too warm to sleep.
Perfekte Lage im Waterton Park
Wir waren eine Gruppe von vier Leuten und hatten ein passendes Appartement gemietet. Es war sehr beengt.
Clean room. Only a small heater in the bathroom. Room is virtually no heat in a subzero temperatures outside!
Nice accommodations that could use some updating.
Easy check in
Definitely run down without care of improvement. Not worth the cost.
The room is very small, and no tv , no AC . Very poor condition. Some people live in the first floor.. I will not stay there again..
Clean rooms, friendly staff
Beautiful location, close yo shipping and restaurants. Very quiet!
My name is Elke; not Warren he is my husband this is my story, Here is an answer that you probably don't expect. 71 years ago at the age of 15 I worked as a housekeeper at the Crandell Lodge. It was on my bucket list to return some day and stay as a guest. My wish came true even though the building was different the surroundings were the same. I used to climb the Bear-hump on days off, but sadly to say am unable to do that at my age now. The experience was great, and the restaurant across the road was excellent with the meal and service.
It would have been nice to have a bucket for ice in our room as well as real water glasses rather then paper cups.
We booked a superior suite on expedia, on arrival received a standard double room. We spoke with Reception and later the manager. They told us they could not move us, as the hotel was fully booked however we could move to the suite the next night ("at no extra cost", even though we had already paid a deposit for the superior suite) but had to check out and then recheck in, taking all belongings with us. The manager stated that this was the fault of expedia as well as my fault for using expedia, stating that the booking information was unclear and would not refund any portion of the room price. She told us that we had to take the complaint/refund request to expedia. She also blamed upper management for not addressing these issues with expedia stating they have had several booking complaints in the past. At no time was even an apology offered. We had to use the hidabed to accommodate us all. Other negatives - no extra bedding or coffee, dusty behind hidebed, no tea towels, no TV. Floor boards gapping. Expedia dealt with our complaint very well offering an apology and compensation. We were very happy with Expedia's response but appalled by the extremey poor customer service from the Hotel Manager. Even after expedia called the hotel, they would not compensate us or apologise. I have worked in the Hotel industry and rest assured this is not a frivolous complaint. I have never encountered such poor customer service.
Easy parking, cute interior, walkable to main part of Waterton.
Had to wash the dishes that came with the room, broken blinds, dirty floor, poor lighting. Would like to see more lights, maybe a lamp. Questionable sanitization in the shower, wall paper peeling off, door was already unlocked before putting the key in, outside deck structure was iffy at best, outside of the cabinets werent cleaned either nor were the lights. You pay good to money to stay, i understand that it is an old building which I am fine with, but I feel it's basic upkeep. My son works for a cleaning company and he said his boss would be appalled with the state of our room.
The place was very nice and the staff too we really enjoyed our stay

Location
No mirrors in room
Room prices were decent, but the look of the outside of the building(including the convenient) front deck, definitely didn’t have curb appeal. Room was humid, and a shame that the nice gas fireplaces that are still there no longer function. 2 person table would be great in front of the bed, instead of attached to the wall blocking the small counter and in front of the microwave. Check in was across the road at the Kilmorey Hotel and we were told we wouldn’t get in until the exact check-in at 4pm or shortly after. Which is fine and we were told we could hangout in the lounge or the restaurant. Went to the lounge, but it wasn’t open until 4pm as well. We went to the restaurant and were seated at probably the only table that was being used that afternoon(only1 other couple in there). The table and chairs were filthy and so was the carpet in the restaurant. We were curious as to why it could be so dirty in there when it wasn’t busy. The gal serving us liked to talk to herself a lot and fix her hair in the mirror. Apparently didn’t know the beer menu as well(what was stocked and what wasn’t-was told my beer wasn’t available, but then came back with the one I ordered, but told my wife they didn’t have hers). I was brought a dirty glass for my beer as well. Wiped my beer can down and drank from the can. Definitely didn’t want to eat there after that. Even with a 10% off1 breakfast(we stayed 2 nights). Kudos to the 2-3 young ladies that had to work their butts off to clean rooms.
Beautiful location, helpful staff, and clean rooms.
Had a fall visit for a couple days. Beautiful scenery, decent food options, excellent service everywhere and an interesting town. The room was older, but had the historical lodge feeling. Plan to attend again regularly.
Everything was good except I did not realise we had to request the room be cleaned so that was not done. However on request we got clean cups etc.
the room was not that good - we are both over 70 years old and got a 2nd floor room - stairs were really steep - service was not good either. room was super small
We enjoyed our visit. The room was rustic and charming.
Great, basic property for a welcoming stay in Waterton. Easy to walk into town and close to all the activities! Very comfortable bed, has everything you need!
It was okay,
close to west entrance
Very happy with our stay here. Exceeded all expectations.
The beds were clean and comfortable. The kitchenette was a bonus and reasonably stocked, although missing a dish towel for drying. Good pressure and temperature for the shower. The only faults were that the bathroom was narrow and only accessible through one of the bedrooms, more a surprise than a problem.
The Crandall Lodge is quaint, clean and comfortable. There were actually dishes, dish soap and kitchen rags in the kitchen, and an ample fridge, making simple meals doable. The bath products were lovely and the towels were ample and soft. The deck needs to be fixed and stained, and the door locks were funky. Our first key was actually bent and didn’t work. The desk clerk was missing for 15 minutes at check in and didn’t apologize, explain, or seem very friendly. The breakfast waitress at the hotel was crabby and loudly complaining. Our dinner waiter on Friday evening was one of the best we’ve ever had, and dinner was exceptional. Other than those things, we had a lovely stay.
Place was bery old, exterior needs a paint job, bbut clean, close to restos, bars, etc
We really enjoyed the location and friendly staff. Areas of improvement: In need of a deep clean (layer of dust on ceiling fan, fuzz growth on frying pan handle, no tea towels or paper towel supplied) This is an older building with extremely creaky floors above you (if you’re on the ground floor).
The front door displays an excessive number of spider webs, and the couch in the sitting area appears to be in poor condition, with noticeable stains on the upholstery.
Disappointed. Happy to be inside the park but for the price i paid -highly disappointed! Not enough towels, no coffee supplies or cups for the coffee that was there, lamp beside the bed with nowhere to plug it, very very loud. Neighbors yelling and you could hear every conversation. Stains all over the entry...just run down other than the room itself.
Excellent room with fireplace, unique bed frame and in room whirlpool
Exterior of the property is in bad need of renovation. Deck boards rotting & paint peeling. Carpets inside lobby & stairs very dirty. Room was tiny for 2 beds. Bathroom was upgraded in room which was good. Floors creaked every time you walked & bed had noisey springs that squeaked with slightest movement. I would not stay here again.
Dated but Clean .Rustic but had comfortable bed. The place needs a face lift esp. for the price we paid per night. We had to Check-in by going across the street in another hotel to get our key.
Place is old, rundown.. owners clearly have put little/ no money in it.
We had a very good stay at CML. The room was comfortable and bathroom updated. Loved it had a Keuring in the room. Great location in Waterton as well.
Good budget option in Waterton. Clean unit and friendly staff. Close to all amenities within town. Property is older with some small reno’s in unit, but lack of attention to details such as huge gaps in vinyl plank flooring and overall noisy conditions (ie. lack of sound buffer between units) makes me rate this property as average.
Within 10 mins walking distance of the main part of town, 5 mins walk to the lake. Peaceful area.
VERY creaky floorboards and constant noise from upstairs people moving about. Beds are not very comfortable and very dark in the main living area. Bathroom location is odd, being within one of the rooms it’s impossible to use at night without waking the occupants. Cockroach ran over my dad’s face as he slept on the sofa bed.
The cleaning people around the property were lovely, as was the young check in person. The location was great.
when I booked on boooking.com- I was told I had a 3 bedrroom. After I bookoed - it said "you have 3 beds". It never said in the description that we would have one double bed in one room with a bathroom, and 2 single beds in another room. THis means that the ladies in the 2 single beds had to come INTO the bedroom to use the bathroom. What is that? During the night, trips to the bathroom wakes up the person in the double room. I found it false advertising. It should be stated clearly that there is no privacy nor comfort in this room The room should have cost much less because of this.
At first glance, Crandell Mountain Lodge looks a bit sad. The deck needs painting, and the entry areas need refurbishing, however, the rooms we saw have been renovated. I didn't realize when I made my booking that the bathroom can only be accessed through the bedroom (this is the case in every Unit) We were a group of 2 couples, and this lay-out did not work for us, so one couple had to pay for an additional room. We were in Unit 7, which had 2 bedrooms, but the queen bedroom attached to the bathroom was so small it was a tight squeeze for an average size adult to get around the foot and side of the bed - that room was really only suitable for one adult or child. When we expressed our disappointment to the Management that the descriptions of their rooms don't indicate that the bathrooms are all en-suite, they obviously cared about our experience and wanted to make it right.
Don’t book here! We were excited to spend a couple of days there. So disappointed when we arrived upstairs to our room. No tv, no air conditioning, could not open window for cross ventilation, very small and claustrophobic room. We asked to upgrade, the staff was unsympathetic and said they would not help us as we booked through a third party. We decided that we could not stay, so we checked out right away. No refunds! Lost our money for 2 days. Ruined our trip, as we returned home. So disappointed!
Pictures did not reveal that in order to get to the bathroom you had to go through one of the bedrooms. Felt like I was going downhill when going into the bathroom. The outside was dirty and had pain chipping and wood rotting. Also, the inside was not clean. Found a wad of hair next to couch. For the price some snacks or something would have been nice. And wash our dishes....really. Who knows how the last person washed. Gross.
No tv or breakfast. Very old and creaky.
Lovely beds, large shower with mountain views, truly classic mountain air atmosphere, lovely working fireplace.
An older establishment with character! Very clean, conveniently located within walking distance to everything in the townsite.
Location and comfortable bed and great fan
The key would get stuck in the lock
We had a very comfortable room. It was cool despite no A/C and extremely quiet yet we were meters from a main thoroughfare. The checkin clerk was pleasant and professional. The location is outstanding.
Smell of sewage in the bathroom. Bathroom sink is chipped and worn. Windows are dirty. Rubble on walkway entrance makes it difficult for seniors to walk safely.
Great place
Everything is perfect. Would definitely stay again!
This was an excellent spot in Waterton! We had the room with the bear and jacuzzi. The bed was solid and comfortable. We enjoyed the jacuzzi nightly after spending the day hiking nearby trails. Would definitely stay here again!
A great place to stay
Good pricing for high season.
Nice quiet place to stay on a Sunday night.
Comfortable room with kitchenette.
Beds were very comfortable
Food was excellent and in generous proportions. King size bed was firm and comfortable. Downside was no heating in the room even though there was a thermostat..
It was a nice stay.
Property could use some upkeep.
👍
Room was great! Nice and cozy atmosphere. A little pricey without breakfast included.
bed was comfortable staff friendly
lack of housekeeping mousetraps in room lack of television request for ground floor room confirmed on check in sheet, but had to climb to second floor with luggage anyway, a problem for a senior female with two bad hips wifi poor
The location was very good
The lodge is showing its age and in need of maintenance. The rugs need cleaning (or replacing) and the deck has rotting. Which could be a hazard.
The room is clean and comfortable
The entrance and stairs need be updated.
