I could park at rear of property

I could not get into room at 4pm he was not on the property Not clean enough Lots of Stains on base of bed I could say a lot more but this is not good enough it’s certainly not a 3 star I asked for key to room he said no key so if I went out i couldn’t lock my door (I could see I could lock myself in but didn’t try as I walked out and did not stay ..

I loved the shower and the hier dryer the owner was doing his best and did well

The place could do with a bit of paint and a little refurbishment but still good

Helpful staff. Good view from top floor. Facilities modern. Great value for money.

Carpet needed deep clean.. stair handrails needed good clean. Tv and WiFi hit and miss.

The staff are lovely and welcoming room was lovely and clean and was to standard. I would choose this hotel again to stay in

There wasn’t really a room big enough to accommodate us even though when I booked it said 6 but when I got there 2 single beds and a double bed so once the kids was in bed they was full so the floor was my option

It was functional but good value for money. Clean, parking, great staff.

Dit was ooit een hotel maar daar is niet veel meer van over. Alles is versleten en wordt zeer matig onderhouden en slecht schoon gemaakt. Hoewel het erg goedkoop was is de prijs/kwaliteit toch slecht. Gelukkig waren we op doorreis en hadden we maar 1 nacht geboekt. Op het moment van deze review zijn we 2 nachten verder en er is nu nog niets te merken, maar ik hoop dat we geen beestjes hebben meegenomen.

It’s not a family room as shown online. The room is too small. Can’t stand up straight due to low ceiling & corners. Too hot & no fan or air condition. Not staying here again & would not recommend it to anyone.

- they had no parking spaces at their site available and on the streets it was just resident parking before 8pm. We were lucky and found one where resident parking was just before 6pm but we were searching quite a while.

Couldn't get a lot of channels on the Telly, I had my car blocked in twice so I had to make other arrangements to get to work, then some cheeky Bastard put a dent in my car

The room was big.

The check in was troublesome. The rooms addressed to us were not according to the reservation and had a weird smell. They was not clean. The shower accumulated water. We had to turn off the shower head in order for the water to drain out enough so we could continue showering. No amenities such as kettle or mini fridge. The parking offered got several cars stuck behind others. Very tight.

The price was good for the area.

Parking is not quite as advertised. There is not free on site parking, or at least, this is a little misleading. There are a few bays around the back of the building down an alleyway that is blocked if anyone parks badly. There are not enough bays for guests and staff. There was no other parking anywhere near the hotel. We ended up driving 4 hours back home as we couldn't leave the car anywhere. The hotel reception closes at 9pm, so you cannot check in late unless your arrange this directly with them. That was simple enough to sort out but should have been communicated when we booked. The area is very rough. Lots of pubs and takeouts and a lot of drunk people hanging around leaving a lot of litter. It's not a clean area and we didn't feel safe leaving our car the 30min walk away we would have had to in order to stay. When we decided to turn around and drive back home, we messaged the owner. That was 2 days ago and we had no acknowledgement nor response. This is why we decided to leave a review. We weren't previously going to.

Bathroom was absolutely awful shower looked like it had never been cleaned ever!!! Food in boxes under the sink. No way of turning the hot water down in the shower 😫 so couldn't have a shower water was screaming hot😡 light fittings hanging of the wall. Plug sockets hanging of the wall..

Reception was friendly and attempted to be helpful

The room could have been cleaner. And less "throw a tin of grey paint at literally everything". It was a depressing space, and the last person's personal waste shouldn't be smeared on the inside of the toilet. Although it was advertised as having parking, the parking was inadequate and I ended up parking roughly a mile away. Everything felt not only done cheaply, but done cheaply decades ago and left to wear with no attention to upkeep. In the end I gave up on the idea of staying overnight despite the room being paid for.

The room was dirty. The shower either scalded or froze. The bathroom light did not work. The smoke alarms were all covered over and the hotel was full of the smell of smoke. Noisy at 2am every night with guests arriving loudly.

There was drunk and people smoking cannabis when we went to arrive. Advertised as hotel but was hostel. Place was dorty and run down and we left and booked another hotel. Really disappointed

Noise. Can hear every room. The drunk man who lives in number 5 keeps taking front door off latch and made us feel uncomfortable. Dirty shower hosepipe. No mnin bathroom light . Dusty TV and bin not emptied under bin bag.

My stay at Swandown Hotel was extremely disappointing. The noise levels were unacceptable – people shouting and making noise until around midnight, making it very difficult to rest. The bed was also uncomfortable, so even when it got quiet, sleep wasn’t great. There was also a noticeable bad smell in parts of the hotel, which made the whole place feel unpleasant and poorly maintained. Yes, the price is relatively low, but that shouldn’t come at the expense of basic comfort and customer care. Overall, not a place I would return to.

To be honest I was not told that I had to reserve a parking place, so I had to park 10 minutes away in an expensive overnight car park. The room was cold and I couldn't turn the heating on. The TV signal was corrupt, I could only see random squares on most channels. There was limited bedding, not sure if it had been cleaned

Found a cockroach trap in the bathroom, shower leaked as the door didn’t shut properly and nearly ended up flooding the shower. Cockroach crawling up the bathroom door. Broken fire alarm hanging out the ceeling and no disrespect to the owners but the property absolutely stank and was not appealing… can understand why it’s so cheap to stay in all honesty… will not be staying again!

big family room with three beds, clean and modern bathroom, a small fridge and free parking, close to the park and high street ( It is wise to give a call to the host if you need to park your car at the back.)

The room is a bit noisy.

Good location for old town, clean bathroom. Power sockets by bed had usb a connectors. There was a kettle (essential) and should you need it, basic coffee powder, tea bags.

Somehow the shower and toilet room smelt of stale smoke. I think it was coming from outside up the extraction fan.. maybe the staff are unaware of this, but other more discerning travellers will take offense at this. Silly little things that could be so easily sorted like providing a few hangers on the clothes rail. None in evidence. A bed lamp usually a standard..none here. £40 a night is okay. I dont expect the luxury but it feels the bare minimum is done to keep this building in working order. the carpet is long overdue a clean.

As soon as I came in very strong smell a cigarette and room was very dirty.

It’s dated. Lots of banging in night. Front door left unlocked. Toilet flush didn’t work. WiFi not great

Bathroom light didn't work, only had the shaving light above the mirror (no window or other source of light) White towels had brown/dark stains Floor was unclean, dusty and grimy in places Where the staff or someone was smoking was just under our window, the room then smelt of cigarette smoke, and were very loud outside of the window. Building looked like it was starting to have work done, but had been given up part way through.

The shower in the room 5 two single beds was scalding . It run cold initially heated up and I could not use it as it was too hot attempts to lower it . Did not work. I could not lower. I ended up using the sink to wash. No TV in the room , no teaspoons and no side lamps .
