The hotel provided excellent furnishings and quality products; the suite, in particular, was quite lovely and luxurious. Its location is ideal, situated in the heart of the Medina of Tunis. The dinner we experienced at the restaurant was truly outstanding, and we extend our special thanks to Mohamed in dar el jeld restaurant for his service.

While we would ideally rate our experience a perfect 10 out of 10, we did encounter some areas where the service could be improved. Upon checking in, the attendant was friendly, though her professionalism could have been enhanced. She presented the registration card in French, despite our having indicated that we communicate in Arabic or English, and she did not review the details with us. Furthermore, we had to prompt her to recap our booking information. Our experience with the Hammam and Massage booking was unfortunately quite stressful. The Hammam treatment began at 10:30 a.m., but the steam room was not operational, which made the experience uncomfortably cold. There was a delay in resolving this, and the therapist left us unattended. I had to seek assistance at the reception. When she returned, she seemed rushed, stating, "I have another guest after you; we have to finish the treatment now." The attendant at the Spa reception was very understanding and kindly removed the charges. We initially wished to cancel the massage, scheduled for 3:30 p.m., but she assured us that it would be a positive experience and that extra care would be taken. At 3:00 p.m., we called to inquire about using the steam and spa facilities before our treatment, only to be informed that a bride was using the spa, making it unavailable to us. Consequently, we canceled the treatment at the last minute. It would have been greatly appreciated if this information had been provided earlier, as we had hoped for a relaxing spa day and could have made alternative arrangements outside the hotel. On the day of our departure, while dining on the rooftop, we ordered Rigatoni Pasta but were served Paccheri pasta without prior notification. This was not an issue for me, as the dish was delicious and the waiter was both pleasant and professional. However, when I shared this feedback with the restaurant manager, he seemed unaware of the type of pasta served.

Pedimos una habitación que era más barata y por estar en booking no nos devolvieron la diferencia de precio. Y con mala actitud ,solo lo dijeron al final de la estadía.

L’hôtel est idéalement placé en limite de la médina dans un quartier les plus chic de Tunis . Cette position vous permet d’être directement au cœur des petites ruelles et vous permet également d’avoir une vue exceptionnelle sur toute la ville à partir du rooftop. L’hôtel est agencé et décoré avec beaucoup de goût, il est d’une propreté irréprochable et le personnel est au top. Je le recommande fortement !!!

An exceptional stay, once again. We are returning guests at Dar El Jeld, and there is a reason we keep coming back. The hotel is absolutely stunning, with impeccable attention to detail, beautiful surroundings, and truly outstanding service. During our stay, we encountered a small issue, and the way it was handling only reinforced our appreciation for this hotel. A very special thank you to the manager, Souha, who dealt with everything with remarkable professionalism, kindness, and genuine care. She went above and beyond to make sure we felt completely looked after. Dar El Jeld remains our absolute favorite hotel in Tunisa, and we will most certainly be returning. Highly recommended.

Struttura elegante in una delle strade più belle della Medina. Parti comuni curatissime nei decori e negli arredi. Stanze molto ampie e confortevoli, con bagni in marmo e ogni genere di comfort, compresi frutta e cioccolatini ogni giorno. Bellissimo rooftop con buon ristorante e piacevolissima piscina. Abbiamo provato anche il loro ristorante tipico, sull’altro lato della strada, veramente bellissimo.

You know why everyone loves this place? Because it's BEAUTIFUL! The location on the edge of the medina is ideal. The employees are accommodating and gracious. The suites are huge, impeccably clean, and delightfully appointed. Despite the fairly noisy medina, this hotel is silent at night. Dar El Jeld is one of the top 3 hotels I've ever stayed at...lovely from beginning to end.

Big spacious room with huge living room and multiple bathrooms. Hotels provides delicious fruits. Each room is having unique design. We have booked 3 rooms. Architecture is amazing. Staffs are super helpful and very accommodating. Breakfast is at rooftop and have good view of medina. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone.

Easy to find and accessible for those travelling by vehicle. Very easy access to access sites of interest in the Medina and surrounding area. Reception was very helpful for and gave excellent recommendations.

The hôtel is beautiful and has all the amenities you could ask for. The complementary access to the Hammam is so nice. The staff is friendly and helpful and the roof top restaurant provides a great view of the Medina and the food is reasonably good. A special shout out to Mohammed, an amazing server in the rooftop restaurant and thanks to Ali for a great scrub in the Hammam

Although the breakfast offered lots of choices it seemed expensive. Otherwise,Everything was perfect.

La comida es deliciosa y el rooftop ofrece unas vistas espectaculares que hacen la experiencia aún más memorable. Como único punto mejorable, sería conveniente disponer de más zonas o tumbonas alrededor de la piscina para mayor comodidad de los huéspedes.

Property is exquisite. Location excellent. Service from room staff very hospitable. Restaurant and bar on the rooftop is very good. Breakfast is also very good. Drivers were very courteous and kind. Hamam is great.

A bit more clarity around costs and processes would have been good. Hotel arranged a tour of the antiquities (with a third party) for us and the tour itself was excellent. But the tour cost didn’t cover entry to the sites and that wasn’t communicated to us by the hotel. Guests should have a list of what’s included in tours and, if possible, a profile of the tour guide and different options for tours with price points etc.

It is absolutely beautiful hotel, clean, comfortable, traditional and modern design. Helpful and friendly staff. Gorgeous junior suite. 💖

À deux pas du souk bouillonnant de la Médina Le calme de l’hôtel , son architecture , son confort XXL , son spa , sa terrasse sur le toit où nous pouvons admirer la ville tout en se restaurant ou prendre le petit déjeuner rend cet hôtel EXCEPTIONNEL . A noté aussi toute la gentillesse tunisienne qui accompagne tout le personnel . Un grand grand merci à eux .

Das Hotel ist von der Ausstattung bis zur Lage in Tunis sicherlich eines der Besten. Das Blick von dem Restaurant/Bar Rooftop ist einzigartig in dieser Art. Auch die Ruhe und Entspannung im Ganzen ist sehr schön. Die Räumlichkeiten sind alle sehr geschmackvoll, und das Personal durchweg freundlich und diskret.

Das à la carte Essen auf dem Rooftop ist sehr überteuert und entspricht leider nicht der sonstigen Qualität des Hotels. Ich und meine tunesischen Geschäftspartner waren enttäuscht. Trinken ja - Essen nein. Die Anwendung im Spa Bereich (Pedicure) ist nicht professionell. Konkret: Der Anwendungsraum ist ungemütlich und extrem unaufgeräumt gewesen. Das Fußbad liegend (!) auf einer Liege mit angewinkelten Beinen ist nicht nur unüblich, sondern schlichtweg unbequem.

Je suis tombée follement amoureuse de cet endroit. Une belle porte caché dans la Medina et quelle merveille une fois à l'intèrieur. C'est un endroit avec une beauté et elegance hors normes. Un accueil chaleureux et discrete au calme. Puis la decouverte de la chambre magnifique, spacieux, décoration sublime et une charme de dingue. Puis la cérise sur le gateaux ... le roof top, juste wow. Si vous allez à Tunis, il faut passer au moins une nuit si vous pouvez ici. Vous ne serez pas decu.

Perfect location, and a gorgeous mix of Tunisian architecture with luxurious modern room, located in the heart of Medina, yet close enough to walk to taxi pickup point (5min walk). Room layout and decor is wonderful, very spacious and makes it a very enjoyable, relaxing recovery & recharge home during your stay. Staff, restaurant and food choices are great. Breakfast at rooftop restaurant adds the wow factor with beautiful views of the city. We didnt try rooftop pool, but that looked wonderful also.

Large room, clean, courteous staff, chocolate snacks daily. But this is of course mandatory for a five star hotel and the hotel did not exceed the quality that is expected in this regard and there is room for improvement.

The food was unacceptable quality. We stayed in Tunisia for two weeks, this was the most expensive hotel yet the quality of the food was the worst we experienced- far worse than three and four star hotels. The breakfast was the same every day of our 5-day stay. The prepared food selection was very small, tasted bad, omelettes were the worst of our 2 week stay in Tunisia. The dinners were extremely overpriced and not good. Very loud, western music constantly. I came to Tunisia to listen to Tunisian music, not loud clubbing music. None of the clientele were the type to listen to this type of music anyway, that is really for people in their 20s. None of the good was truly authentic- mostly western and pretentious menu. Even when the food was supposedly Tunisian it was really mild and adjusted to western palates. The accessories were also unacceptably low quality. The shampoo and conditioner were unusable. I would expect high quality, name brand products for $400 / night. Next time I will choose somewhere more authentic and less pretentious. I almost gave up on Tunisian food until I left this hotel and tried other hotels. Even the restaurants nearby are catered to tourists and offer low quality and overpriced food.

Our stay at Dar El Jeld in Tunis was absolutely wonderful. The property itself is stunning—beautifully restored with incredible attention to detail, blending traditional charm with comfort in a truly elegant way. Every corner feels thoughtfully designed, creating a peaceful and authentic atmosphere. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the medina, making it easy to explore the city while still feeling like a quiet retreat once you step inside. Breakfast was a highlight of our stay—delicious, fresh, and with a great variety of options to start the day. A special thank you to Salima, who made each morning even more enjoyable. She was exceptionally kind, attentive, and accommodating, always greeting us with a warm smile and ensuring everything was perfect. The evening service of the room, with complimentary oranges and dates was also a plus! We would highly recommend Dar El Jeld to anyone visiting Tunis and would happily stay here again!

Unfortunately we had a safety issue on our last day. After checking out, we forgot a jacket in the room. We asked for it and no-one could find it. They told us to check our luggage (maybe we forgot it in there???) and they told us maybe we left it somewhere else. We said no, we were sure. They offered us to Watch the security cameras, we said yes and when we also said we were going to call the police, the jacket magically appeared. I know that this is not a reflection of the entire staff, but it was a very unpleasant experience also considering how much we paid for our stay and the safety standard they are supposed to maintain. After the incident, the staff kept apologizing, telling us it was one of cleaning staff who had kept it in the room they use to give it back later. I want believe that was the case, but we won’t be back in this hotel, despite the excellent service we experienced in general.

Location is very convenient, right in Medina and next to the Central Square, so taxis can come really close. The rooftop restaurant has excellent views and plays famous French songs.

Our bathroom was not well cleaned. The toilet had urine spots on the toilet seat. I cleaned it myself but of course a hotel of that ranking should not allow something like that happen. Also, in our suite we had a king size bed and a sofa. I found a blanket and two pillows for the sofa in the closet, but no sheets. (My son was supposed to sleep on the sofa). It seemed strange that they didn't have a sheet and only a comforter.

My wife and I enjoyed a long weekend in Tunis and stayed at Dar El Jeld Hotel & Spa. We loved the location (right in the Medina), the hotel, our room, and the service. The hotel is clearly local and historic, the architecture and design are excellent, and the staff is very professional and helpful. Definitely staying here next time we are back in the region.
