Staff were very friendly, nothing was to much trouble. Food was excellent. Location ideal.

We were in room 211. The bed/mattress in that room is getting a little tired and "wobbles" side to side as you turn over in bed.

We have stayed in Betws-y-coed many times,this was the first time at the Royal Oak Hotel and it was lovely.The room was very spacious and clean.The staff were so accommodating, nothing was too much trouble, they really worked hard ! We ate in the restaurant in the evening-the atmosphere was great,and the food was delicious, and competively priced. We will definitely be back!

Our twin room was very comfortable. We had a problem with the safe that the staff resolved very quickly for us. Staff were very helpful, parking was easy and we enjoyed a great dinner in the bar and breakfast in the restaurant.

My heart sank when I saw the carpet and wallpaper on the way to our room. They were very old, well worn and smelt stale but our room was better. It is a three star hotel at best.

Location was great and the staff very welcoming. We opted for a suite that was very nice but a small issue with poor lighting (dim) and a few cobwebs in bathroom and also dirty windows that could be improved but really didn’t spoil our stay.

Needs a good clean to make it really really good. Stairs only to our room but OK as hotel has character.

The location was very central and easy walking distance to shops and restaurants.

Reception area was a awkward walk along the narrow sidewalk by the busy main street. Would be nice to know about the validated parking before checking in. Initially paid for parking before checking on.

Vasca da bagno con soffione solo a muro senza doccetta: acqua che usciva dalla doccia perché c’era solo la tenda (nel 2026 poco igienica, bisognerebbe mettere almeno una parte di lastra di cristallo per non far e uscire l’acqua). Bagno senza finestra e con ventola aerazione non sufficiente (rimanere tutto il vapore e l’unica era tenere la porta aperta sulla camera da letto). Unica luce del bagno a soffitto (terribile per truccarsi). In camera da letto funzionava solo il tasto d’accensione che accendeva tutte le luci più forti (le applique accanto a letto non si accendevano ma solo una piccola da lettura (in teoria) ma che era insufficiente

The location was really convenient as it just few minutes from the train station and if you are looking to take public transport to go other places then the location was even more convenient as the bus stop was right besides the hotel

Cleanliness on the ceiling was neglected. I understand the nature and reasons of keeping the window open but there was a spider web in the toilet which was cleaned during housekeeping the other day.

Breakfast was expensive for the small portion

It is a prime location. The bar is nice and is the most well presented area. The breakfast is good if u are more about the cooked food. The bed pillows were so flat and hard you really didnt feel you even had a pillow.

But the room decor us a bit tired and dated and the stains in the chair covers showed things were well used. The quality of the furniture was also quite basic. If you like cheese and meats or fruit with your continental breakfast or a pain au chocolate they dont do this.

Good breakfast at extra cost. The staff very polite and helpful. Location is good for exploring natural trust, but you need a car to commute to the main attractions which are 30 min to 1 hour drive.

Breakfast was delicious. Tables by windows were taken which would have made it even better. But best part was the bed, bedding and mattress. Absolutely superb.

Literally only the location

The property was very rundown and had a horrible smell throughout, especially in the room. We got upgraded to another room because our room was so filthy and the next room wasn’t much better. I have lots of pictures as evidence. The Hotel gave me a full refund and we ended up leaving and moving to a nice establishment on the second night would really not recommend

Am exceptional establishment! We couldn't fault a single thing during our stay. The room was gorgeous, the king size bed was comfortable, everything was spotless and we had a view of the river. Dinner in The Grill Room was superb. Check in and out was quick and easy and the free parking right across the street was an added huge plus! Highly recommended 🙌🏼👌🏼

There was absolutely nothing not to like!

Fantastic central location used as a base to explore. Near to the train stn and shops. Wonderful surroundings. Food delicious room immaculate and breakfast fab.

We stayed in The Royal Oak during very hot summer days. The room was very warm, with no airconditioning and windows that could hardly be opened. A small fan was provided which made it 'ok'.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Had 1 evening meal and after explaining my dietary needs they allowed me to choose a children's meal. I'm gluten free and they adapted the way they cooked the mushrooms for me at breakfast too.

Would have liked an option of gluten free cereal at breakfast but that's a minor criticism.

Room was very spacious and comfortable, we had a road side view, but it was very quiet. Breakfast was really good, quality and quantity, with a full breakfast option and a buffet. I'd recommend the restaurant, excellent food and atmosphere.

Bathroom is a bit tired, just needs a refresh.

Оплаченные завтраки заканчиваются в 9.45, мы пришли в 9.55 и нас хотели оставить голодными, но быстро решили вопрос. Стойка ресепшен находится рядом с баром и девушка на баре обслуживает и то и то и когда мы приехали с дороги уставшие, пришлось ждать, пока она обслужит посетителя бара.

It was exceptionally hot which is nobody's fault and we could have done with a better and quieter fan in the bedroom.

Restaurant food was delicious, and reasonably priced. Staff were all incredibly friendly, and the live music in the evening was a huge bonus (with nice wine)

A beautiful 'botique hotel' in a wonderful location. A warm and helpful welcome from the staff and excellent customer services all the way through my stay, which was too short. I met friends for dinner and had lunch and breakfast at the hotel and all were excellent and very good value for money.

Betws-y-Coed is a major tourist attraction and very busy. The day I arrived there was an exhibition on in the town so parking was challenging, even as a hotel guest. I am disabled so this was a little problematic.

A minor gripe. The controls for the shower (room 209) were outside of the shower cubicle meaning you had to stand outside of the shower holding the shower head whilst trying to find a comfortable water temperaure. Water pressure very low resulting a weak trickle of water in the shower

A lovely hotel really central but tucked away from the busier areas. Spacious rooms, clean and comfortable. Staff at reception were friendly, we didn’t eat at the pub but given how busy it was I think it must be good! Great place to stay whilst visiting Betws y coed.

One the nicest, friendliest, accommodating and comfortable hotels I have stayed at for a very long time. The hotel is situated right in the centre of Betws-y-Coed so all shops, cafes, bars and walks are all on your doorstep. I booked a twin room for myself and my son and it was really comfortable and clean with a nice en suite. The restaurant was excellent and the staff were so helpful and cheerful. I strongly recommend the freshly cooked Full Welsh Breakfast. When I was late for my reservation one night the manager called me back and let me pre-order meals even though the restaurant had stopped serving and the dinner was waiting on our arrival. Oh, and on the last day I was late checking out and the room was needed for a new arrival. The housekeeping staff were so good humoured and patient whist I ran around like a whirling dervish trying to pack, even offering help to carry the bags to the car. Oh, and there is plenty of free parking. I cannot recall ever bothering to write a review for a hotel but the Royal Oak Hotel in Betws-y-Coed definitely deserves a great one. I will return next year.

We had a beautiful dinner here at the end of our first day in Betsw Y Coed. We had the burger and salmon grill poke bowl. Both were great. Very friendly waitress service. Would return.

The Royal Oak is an exceptional hotel situated in a beautiful environment that provides excellent amenities and excellent food. The staff are warm and welcoming, and i cannot praise this hotel enough.

We stayed in the lodge which was nice and the most comfortable bed I've slept in, we had the breakfast which was 1st class with plenty of selection.

I sent back the evening meal which was inedible. It was our 40th wedding anniversary celebration and this was such a disappointing event. I felt that the cooked breakfast was scant and unappealing as did my wife and the second day I just took cereal and yoghurt. Fire alarms went off at least 3 times during the night..so sleep was very disrupted.

The breakfast was very nice. Girl at desk helped us with our luggage coming and going. Very nice staff.

Our room was close to the exit door for the garbage bins. Door was left open and our hall did not smell good. The bathrooms were very nice. Comfortable bed. Pictures looked more charming than reality.

The perfect location for exploring the local area

Unfortunately the care in cooking the food could have been better.

Finding the rooms can be a little confusing at first, as the layout beyond the reception area feels a bit like a maze. However, the hallways are decorated with some really interesting artwork and displays, which makes exploring them more enjoyable. The bathroom was spacious, clean, and well-presented. I did notice a small amount of mould on some of the sealant around the caulking, but aside from that it was in excellent condition. Breakfast was very good overall, with a nice selection of items. There was one breakfast item that wasn't to my taste, but the rest of the meal was enjoyable. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the large TV was a welcome feature, especially with its Android screen mirroring support. This proved particularly useful because none of the standard TV channels appeared to have a signal during my stay.

The rooms would really benefit from having air conditioning. Considering it's 2026 and we've just experienced one of the hottest heatwaves in years, I was surprised this wasn't available. A small desk fan was provided, which helped a little, but it wasn't enough to keep the room comfortable. Thankfully, both the bathroom and bedroom windows could be opened to create some airflow. Unfortunately, this also meant dealing with insects during the night, and I ended up being bitten several times. The breakfast was good overall, but the sausage was a major disappointment. On my very first bite, I crunched down on a piece of bone. Assuming it was just bad luck, I tried another bite, only to find another piece of bone of a similar size. The menu proudly advertises it as a Welsh sausage, and as a Welshman, I was particularly disappointed. I ended up leaving it and not finishing it. Another issue was the television. None of the TV channels had a signal throughout my stay, although the built-in Android screen mirroring worked well and was a useful alternative.
