Didn’t have breakfast as my flight left too early. I didn’t have a problem with the parking
Beautifully renovated home. Short walk to shops and restaurants. Organized tidy kitchen for breakfast (included) and for guests to make meals.
Gower Manor is well located on a quiet street in the heart of downtown St John's. The premises are very clean and perfectly curated with an array of antiques.
Very friendly owner, house was always clean and comfortable. Food options were great! Issue we ran into was St John’s was in a heat wave and there was no air conditioning. Not usually an issue for this area but made for a couple sleepless nights.
This is a must stay in St. John’s! It was such an interesting place and felt very homey. The owner, Bill, is very approachable and kind. The building has a very interesting history. It was so cool to stay in this Victorian styled home! It is walking distance to downtown, the rooms, and Signal Hill! Great location. Would 100% recommend this to people seeking to stay in a place with historic significance and homey feel!
Clean, beautiful home, large bedroom
A charming place to stay. Very quiet. A gorgeous home.
The owner was very genuine and welcoming, I enjoyed the sailor motif and collected items in the room I stayed. There was not air conditioning but a fan was enough to keep me comfortable there even in the summer.
Wonderful host!
House was interesting with lots of antiques. Bed a bit small, but great mattress. Parking very convenient. Location great. Thanks.
The host was friendly and the place was very interesting and beautifully maintained. Excellent location.
Owner was present and over bearing. Did not spend the night there. Left at 11:00pm and checked into the Courtyard Marriott.
We loved this Victorian Jellybean row house! The house was full of antiques and memorabilia from all years! It was very unique! The location was amazing (even if there are hills!) We would stay again next time we visit St. John’s
Everything is perfect. Great breakfast.
It was so unique. So many fascinating items from the past. Unbelievable collection of antiques- was like sleeping in a museum. Incredible opportunity to sleep in a structure buildt in 1893. Great experiences!
Exceptional property and stay. Convenient walking to downtown. Highly recommend.
I really enjoyed my stay here. I felt very comfortable and Bill was a great host. Theres so much to look at, I didnt want to leave the house!
Friendly owner, beautiful and interesting home. I’d recommend this place to anyone!
wonderful, colorful manor, with a history. just ask bill...
I loved my stay at the Gower Manor so much when I first arrived that I booked it again before my return home. The Manor is charming, full of treasures and impeccably clean. Bill is full of information and stories. Highly recommend.
The property is right downtown but it is very quiet. It is a large unique home with interesting collectibles everywhere you look.
Liked the location. Disliked cleaner being there before checkout time.
The atmosphere including Bill’s collections made our stay enjoyable.
we loved it. great spot to start our walks from. the whole 'home' experience was great
A step back in time. Part museum. Part cozy home. Peace and quiet and lovely options for breakfast.
Thank you for a unique experience in this historical place. Lovely decor. Great host. Clean. Comfortable. Loved it!
.
An unbelievably unique and cozy place. Antique lovers paradise!!
A beautiful house filled with interesting antiques. Bill, the proprietor, is very friendly and helpful.
Very comfy place to stay
Phantastic location to stay.
It was a short over night stay, I would have loved to have been able to stay longer. Bill was a very accommodating host.
Beautiful rooms and a comfortable bed to sleep in. Right downtown, everything was in walking distance. This is my second stay and I will be back again.
Wonderful stay! Honestly no bad things to say about this place at all. The decor was beautiful, the host was friendly, kind, and gave helpful advice, there was wonderful continental breakfast, place was very quiet, walkable to anywhere you'd want to go. Would 10/10 stay here again
For me, the authenticity of the house and rooms. However, the stairs were an issue.....and lack of bathroom(s) I didn't see that on the B&B details
Fascinating collection of artifacts
Very enjoyable stay
Loved it!
A charming, comfortable place near the heart of St John's
What impressed me the most was how beautiful the house is. It was like stepping into the past. Even the location was serene among all the old colourful homes. The staff was very friendly and helpful. When I return to St. John's, I'm definitely coming back here.
Excellent!
Great location with very classical atmosphere
Absolutely stunning restored period house. Very comfortable room. Wonderful host.
What a find! Our host Bill has done a remarkable job over the years of filling the home with interesting memorabilia. More like a museum than a bed and breakfast. Bill is very well organized and greeted us with a free parking pass and a full tour of the house. Never had trouble finding street parking right outside the door. Many restaurants and bars are within 3 or 4 blocks and the hills give you a workout to wear off the food.
Beautiful property in the heart of my favourite part of St. John's. Walking distance to anywhere I'd be interested in going.
Wonderful experience. The owner appreciates history and the house is filled with antiques.
Interior furnishing are museum worthy. Host is very helpful & welcoming. Proximity to restaurants, parks, & museums, making nearby attractions walkable
This is an absolute gem of a place if you can get in! beautifully restored property that is museum level! Bill is a great host. would definitely come back here
A pretty blue historical home in a row of colourful clapboard houses, Gower Manor is a friendly and convenient place to stay in downtown St. John's. Bill shares his home, which is filled with antiques and collectables. He enjoys meeting the people who come to stay with him. I had the room at the top of the home with a comfortable twin bed, a useful antique oak desk, an antique dresser, an antique chair, and a glassfront antique bookcase. There was also an array of interesting artifacts. Breakfast was continental: coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juice, hot or cold cereal, toast, yogurt. It is available "any time before lunch," to quote Bill. I would highly recommend staying at Gower Manor, as long as you don't mind sharing bathrooms.
It would days to fully take everything in, as the the house is full of treasures. Also, I had the best, hottest bath in years. Perfect location to walking up Signal Hill and the coast.
Very good location, beautiful B&B, very kind owner!
Everything was great. Lovely house, good location, friendly host. I gave it a 4 because the breakfast was not what I usually expect for a bed and breakfast -- cold, serve yourself. On the other hand, we were free to eat when we wanted..... I would stay there again.
Excellent and personal host, clean and well maintained accommodation
Beautifully kept B&B-interesting decor and lovely antiques. The host was helpful and very informative about this unique place to visit. It is centrally located to most places in the area and about 15 minutes from the airport.
Me and my wife loved staying at Gower Manor! Bill gave us a splendid tour of the historic building and was very helpful throughout our stay. Loved perusing through Bill's collection of old books. Hope to come back!
Beautiful, full of antiques and treasures, maticulously cared for. Could be a museum!!
The house is a beautiful old home with an eclectic decor of antiques. Bill certainly has an eye for interior design. Central to downtown SJ near restaurants, bars and the harbour. It is a short drive to Signal Hill and other attractions. A bit hot with no AC on a sweaty summer night but definitely a cool place to stay.
Beautiful historic home full of antiques and memorabilia. Close to downtown and harbou
Bill was kind, helpful, and an excellent host.
This was a wonderful stay in a beautiful house. Bill was a fabulous host!
This is just the loveliest place to stay. If you are thinking to book, don't hesitate. It's a museum and a BNB in one, amazing host, great location. Just book it.
Great restoration! Kind host!
old world charm, very clean and quiet, host was very personable, had a lot of knowledge of the area, loved our stay.
Lovely bed and breakfast
Beautiful historic B & B, makes you feel like you’re in a different time period. The place is so well taken care off. It also has a nice social room to meet other guests and a large kitchen where you could prepare some of your own meals. Nice and quick breakfast options to get you started for the day.
Great location and very friendly host
Very friendly owner
Bill is the attentive and very helpful host of this clean, very well maintained, centrally located heritage house with lots of character.
Had a lovely stay at Bill's bnb! It was all clean and well organized, i felt very welcomed and safe! 10/10 would stay again and recommend!
I love the closeness too cityscape and the downtown accessibility. The old renovated beautiful was extraordinary. Old antiques placed in wonderful locations EVERYWHERE. I had a wonderful experience.
My 3-night stay in "Harry's Room" at the Gower Manor was fantastic. The beautifully restored house and the antique items were the highlight of the visit - just sitting in my bedroom or one of the sitting rooms, or walking down the stairs to go out the door, revealed interesting new details to enjoy. In terms of amenities, my room was spacious and clean, and the bed was comfortable. Little touches like a basket to carry my toiletries to the bathroom showed a great deal of attention to guests' comfort and convenience. There were plenty of supplies for a simple breakfast (coffee, toast, cereal, muffins, etc.) every morning, and guests also had access to the kitchen and fridge to store and prepare their own food/drinks, which was appreciated. Finally, Bill was a great host - he was friendly and available to answer questions, and it was lovely to chat with him about the house, things to do in St. John's, and restoring antiques. If you're seeking a comfortable bed and breakfast experience with unique character, I would recommend the Gower Manor!
Close to downtown, friendly staff
The house is tastefully decorated with beautiful antiques and collectibles. Very cozy and quiet atmosphere.
I had a nice stay! This B&B looks like a museum.
Beautifully restored historical house with a huge collection of memorabilia, spacious room and shared bathroom. Spotlessly clean. Breakfast is self-service and a bit meagre. Would have been nice to have some fresh fruit, eggs, or some bagels.
Staying in a museum is a fascinating experience. Even more so were the demonstrations of how some of the house and music worked. Every room is picture worthy and Bill is a very accommodating and entertaining host.
Gower Manor was an interesting historical property but having said so it did not have a/c nor could we open the window to get some airflow. It happened to be 29C and hot. It was convenient to have access to kitchen and self serve breakfast but I do appreciate the comfort of someones home and enjoy being served the breakfast as well as having chat around the table
Staying at the Gower Manor is like staying in a museum! It's unique. Every day I discovered new details. Every part of the property is filled with collectibles and antiques. It's quite the trip to walk around it and take in souvenirs of royal occasions, gramophone records, old soda bottles... There was even a musket above my bed! If you haven't stayed in a REAL bed and breakfast for a while, then this is truly a trip down memory lane to a time when all seaside hotels were like this. I'm from England and it is just a reminder of how life used to be. Bill, your host, is a charming man who makes time to help with any questions or concerns. He took time out of his day to help me find a walk I was having trouble locating, and recommended places to eat. My bed was more comfortable than I'd expected it to be; the room was very clean and full of restored furniture as well as memorabilia. There were glasses and plates in the cupboard. Breakfast is basic, but plentiful, with flexible times rather than the old standard of "sleep in and tough luck", and there is space in the kitchen fridge for guests to store their own food. This place won't be for everybody. It's an old house, so there is no air conditioning, though a fan was in my bedroom and helped to cool me down. Some will find the museum vibe overwhelming rather than charming. If you've spent a lot of time in modern hotels, then a communal bathroom takes some getting used to. If you Embrace Gower Manor, it's unforgettable.
Wonderful host. Great location. Exceeded all expectations. I would love to return on my next visit to st johns
Very well located unique property. Lots of historic artifacts. Bill was very attentive and hospitable
This place is like stepping back in time. What an awesome experience. Bill, the owner, is very friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend this place though by doing so I might not get a room. I cannot say enough how much I loved it
