I liked the cleanliness and the heated pool.
I didn’t like that the food wasn’t very good, I didn’t like that some restaurants would fill up quick, I didn’t like the lack of good activities and they were very disorganized and I didn’t like the night shows, they were very low effort and nobody would show up.
- Proximity to the airport - The staff was very nice - Showers were nice
- No reservations for restaurants. Instead we needed to register on a wait list. This is a big NO. - Rooms were outdated (AC too loud, beds too hard, furniture regular at best) - Drinks were hit and miss. Clear incossistency. - Chain supply overall (lacking ingredients, staff overworked) This is more like a 4 star hotel fading towards a 3 star. Definitely not going back, not only here but at any Iberostar. Clearly this chain isn't strong on customer experience and cares more on milking the cow (ie : removal of restaurant reservations).
Albercas y restaurantes
The restaurant and housekeeping staff are very polite and helpful.
On one of the days of our stay, my spouse and I were at the pool, where there is a bar. An American guest approached the counter, and the bartender promptly asked, “Would you like another of the same drink?” When the guest said yes, the bartender prepared it. Since the drink was not listed on the menu and this is a five-star all-inclusive hotel, I asked for the same one. At that point, I thought the bartender might not have heard me, so I moved closer to confirm my request. Oddly enough, the bar was empty at that exact moment, yet I was still not served. Shortly afterward, other guests arrived — all of whom appeared to be heterosexual — and the bartender served them promptly, showing particular preference toward the women. When he could no longer continue ignoring me, I said that I would like the same drink he had prepared for the previous guest. The bartender replied that he could only make drinks listed on the menu. When I insisted, he told me that the ingredients for that drink were unavailable. Given the situation, I went to the front desk to file a complaint about what I considered to be a clear act of homophobia. The bar manager was called and came to the area. The bartender was removed for only a short time, but soon returned to work as usual at the same bar. In addition, the manager offered tequila as compensation. Later that day, two shots of tequila were delivered to our room — something we could have requested at any bar in the hotel. In addition to this unfortunate incident, there are many cockroaches around the hotel, including on the decks and in the rooms. This may also explain the large number of iguanas on the property. At night, the walkways are poorly lit, and you may encounter these animals along the way. The hotel does not allow ride-hailing vehicles to enter through the gardens to pick guests up at the hotel entrance. As a result, even with luggage, guests must walk across the gardens to meet their driver.

Buffet was amazing and all the food I ate was good! The room service was also amazing. All the staff were very nice. Our room was great with an excellent view!
Some of the drinks were very diluted, not enough alcohol. The seaweed problem is really bad.
The four of us had a wonderful vacation at Iberostar Cancun and came home with so many great memories! ❤️🌴 We really enjoyed the food, the beautiful pool, the drinks, and our ocean-view room. The room was very comfortable, and the AC worked perfectly—which is definitely important in Cancun! Everyone we met was friendly and welcoming, and we appreciated that the staff spoke English, which made everything very easy for us. A very special thank you to Jorge Jasso for his excellent service around the beautiful white cabanas by the pool. We reserved one of these cabanas, and Jorge really stood out because of his attention to every little detail. When Jorge was working, you could immediately see the difference. Early in the morning he would carefully prepare the cabanas, arrange and fold the towels beautifully, keep everything clean and organized, and make sure the information about renting the cabanas was clearly displayed. Everything looked stylish, inviting, and professionally prepared. This may sound like a small detail, but it makes a big difference. We noticed that many guests didn’t realize the cabanas required a reservation/payment and would sit down, only to leave later when they found out. On other shifts, the rental information wasn’t always displayed clearly. Jorge made sure everything was prepared properly and guests had the information they needed. He was also always nearby and available whenever we had a question or needed something. You can tell when someone simply does their job and when someone genuinely takes pride in doing it well. Jorge is definitely the second kind. Thank you, Jorge Jasso, for making our pool and cabana experience extra special! Iberostar is lucky to have an employee who cares so much about the details and the guest experience. We had a beautiful vacation and would happily return! 🌊☀️🍹❤️
We are a family of 7 ranging from a 17 year old up to a birthday boy 81 year old. Shout out to all the staff and especially Adrian who had made this trip an exceptionally memorable experience for my 81 year old father. Adrian provided an amazing birthday experience with cake by the pool with candles and rounded up a bunch of people to sing happy birthday! The resort is just the right size for us, and the food was very good all around! Rooms are clean and the staff is a lot of fun! We’ve been to 20 plus all inclusives and Iberostar ranks very highly with everyone in our group! Highly recommend!
Customer service was non existent at FRONT DESK! I booked a King Bedroom and we got doubles, no accommodations, no sorry…just fine print retold to us. The beach was never cleared of seaweed. The entertainment was below sub pare. And the FOOD was bland and all meats even at steak house restaurant was fatty. The food was absolutely sorry. At steak house restaurant a sharp wire in chair poked out and scratched my thigh. No apology no concern. And on the last day breakfast, water from ceiling dripped on me. I have been 3 time to Iberostar and extended family over 7 times…it used to be a great 5 star hotel…it’s a 2 star now!

I just checked in. We booked 2 ocean front suites for our family and came with another who also booked an ocean front suite. Upon arrival, we ALL got told they could not give us the suites with King beds. Then they tried to say it’s because we booked through a 3rd party which we did not, we booked straight through Iberostar. They did not offer a solution to the problem they caused. They said the root cause is not enough rooms. We booked this all at the same time. The only offer was to stay in another room and then uproot ourselves and move the next day. This is our 3rd time here. The other family, their 6th time. We can’t believe we were treated this way and o my offered an upgrade if we paid. The hotel itself is in need of a refresh. Poorly paint rooms, lots of water damage, and maintenance tools laying around. This was a waste of 7k.
Location is good. Middle of the strip. Close to airport. Easy transportation to the. Jay area if you like. Buses all the time. 30 min ride even with traffic. Beach: seaweed season but we were able to swim. Morning is better than afternoon. Nice waves. No rocks. Plenty of seats. Pool: terrible pool floor. I have bandaids all over my feet from scratching from the bottom of the pool. Needs tiles or renovations big time. If you participate in the games such as water polo or basketball, be careful. Wear water shoes. I have never such a problem ever in any other resort! Towels as much as you like. Seats at the pool are a problem. Reserve early and they have a stupid policy that you can lose your seat after 30 min of absence. Service at the pool is decent. Hit or miss at the bar. One day they were understaffed. Weekends are busier and service is less. Plus the elevators are a big problem especially on the weekend when it is busy. Ridiculous elevators !!! You can wait 15 min or more. Terrible situation. Food: decent but buffet redundant. No reservations and first come first serve does not work well here. This hotel needs renovations and in fact they are going to do it next year. I can see why. It also lacks luxury. 4 star hotel. Not 5 star as labeled. Shows at night are amateurish. Overall, a lot of positives. Layout of the pool, entertainment team, big theater, ok gym, decent food, nice people, good service, good location, nice AC and nice lobby. Decent size rooms. Nice views, good activities with nice participation. Microphone was banned recently and still entertainment team was able to attract people to participate in pool activities. Good wifi.
Unfortunately cannot recommend this hotel. Very expensive for the quality. The rooms are VERY old and dirty. Looks like they haven't been updated since the 90's. Extremely run down; cracks in tile, warped doors, mold etc. We stayed here 1 night of our 9 day trip and left the following morning. The main issue: the air conditioning DOES. NOT. WORK. like at all. The villa literally felt like a sauna. They offered a different villa, this one on the ground floor but also, zero air conditioning and obstructed ocean view which we paid extra for... The kids pool was closed with no explanation besides "maybe a kid pooped in the pool..." the tables at the outdoor restaurant were visibly dirty and covered with birds. The buffet was ok and sufficient. The manager was professional and understanding about our concerns and they did give us a refund minus the transport fee (we paid round trip and only used half since we switched hotels) and the $200 we paid up select the room number of the villa which was totally run down and not usable with no air conditioning lol. This place needs a complete renovation and then maybe it would be OK but there are wayyy better resorts you can stay at that aren't dirty, old, and broiling lol
Fitness center was small, crowded and too hot.
The hotel was beautiful and breathtaking, the room were spacious and the staff was friendly.
Food selections, some of the restaurants for example the italian restaurants service was slow and food was not that great. More choices need to be available during peak hour like between after lunch and near dinner. Only thing available was the burger joint prior to dinner.
We are Prestige members, and we booked the Rose Gold Villa. We absolutely love the walkout pool overlooking the beach. This was our 11th time coming to this resort, and it truly feels like our second home. One of the reasons we keep coming back is the size of the resort—it’s easy to get around but still has so much to offer. The food is phenomenal! The chefs really pay attention to the variety, and every meal is consistently delicious. La Horma is definitely our favorite restaurant. We were welcomed by the amazing Prestige team led by Alexander B. and Theo. A special thank you to Flor, Alexis, and Fernando, who were always available whenever we needed dinner reservations, wine recommendations, or anything else during our stay. A huge shoutout to Guadalupe, who is the best ambassador! He made our private dinner so much fun and kept us entertained all evening. Our private dinner was outstanding thanks to Chef Abraham, Captain William, and our waiter Moises, who made the entire experience unforgettable. We also want to thank Yaraneli at Café Alma for making the best lattes every morning, Antonio and Roger at the buffet for always taking such great care of us, Nefi at La Horma for the wonderful service, Raul and Chef Mitchell at Hibachi for such a fun and delicious dinner, Alejandro for always being there with the golf cart whenever we needed a ride, Angel for making the best omelets every morning, and Claudia for always making our members’ breakfast such a great experience. The spa is also a must! We were greeted by Ana Ari and had the best massages from Doris, Marisol, and Estela. Their kindness, professionalism, and exceptional hospitality made us feel so relaxed and pampered throughout our stay. Thank you to the entire Iberostar team for another amazing vacation. After 11 visits, you continue to make us feel like family, and we already can’t wait to come back for visit number 12!
So first of all , the staff is very friendly and great for people who have kids. The buffet is not great I will give it a 5/10. The resturants I will give it a 7/ 10. The cleaness I will give it a 7/10 the toliets have black mold growing in them and on the curtains in the room. The alcohol servers at the pool use the same utensils that was use in customers personal cups to make other people's drinks. The air conditioner keep shutting off so I had to call the help desk 2 times. Also a employee named Gasper that works at the Caribbean restaurant next to beach refused to sit us next to the open door because the erestaurant is next to beach with no air conditioning. He said he needed the other tables for other guests but i was nearly empty. It was only 3 other families at 8 pm. I took pictures to show how empty it was.He began to call security because we sat at another table, so we just left. Also if you like a newer resort this is older but it is well maintained.
The food was great and the layout of the pool is fantastic. there are many different pools to swim in, ending with the infinity pool. the layout of the rooms is very good for ocean views. The hotel feels very spacious and lots of seating / lounges to be near the pools.
The seafood restaurant only had one fan working and has glass panels blocking the sea breeze. the menu was great but not many people went there due to the heat. You either need air con or functional ceiling fans in that place. Furthermore we couldnt sit in the outside seats and order. this is one improvement which should be made. The lifts are a little slow, but not a big deal.
Excellent hotel for a family vacation. The service was great . We love the Staff, they were very friendly, attentive, and helpful. We love the prestige area ,as an iberostar member I’m so grateful with the prestige staff ,they took care of me and my family., Flor, Teo, Alexis and Guadalupe did a great job helping me with everything. Big thanks to Macario and Yaranelis , the prestige bar tenders for those amazing cocktails and incredible costumer service and Libia for make us delicious Coffees every morning. The star camp staff are incredible, they took care of my son really good and he had a really great time with them. Big thanks to Veronica Chavez for taking care of me and my family. We really enjoyed our days here , For sure we are going to come back .
Overall good resort. A few things that need to be fixed. There’s not enough chairs at the pool for the number of guests at the resort. It’s so bad that guests put out towels the night before to reserve chairs. I’ve never seen anything like it. Also, the elevators stop at every floor on the way up and down. If they fix those 2 things, then it would be much better.
If you have food allergies and are wondering if Iberostar Selection Cancún is safe, this review is for you! I have severe allergies to peanuts, tree nuts, and shellfish, and I get violently sick if I eat them. I was honestly pretty nervous before coming, but the staff here were absolutely amazing. A huge shoutout to Lis! Every time she saw me at the buffet, she would come find me and walk around with me, telling me exactly what I could and couldn’t eat. If there was any chance of cross-contamination, she would go to the kitchen and bring me a fresh plate from the back. She even recommended different specialties for me to try, which made me feel like I wasn’t missing out. One day she even brought me a dessert from another restaurant because most of the desserts at the buffet contained peanuts or tree nuts. That completely made my day! I honestly felt like I was getting true 5-star service. I never felt like I was a burden—they genuinely cared and wanted me to have a great vacation. Best of all… I had zero allergic reactions the entire trip. One tip for anyone with peanut and tree nut allergies: bring a few safe snacks from home, like bagels or crackers. I found that many of those items at the resort had “may contain peanuts/tree nuts” labels, so it was nice having a couple of safe options. Thank you, Lis, and the whole team for making what is usually the most stressful part of traveling feel so easy. I would absolutely come back!
The food and the service was exceptional! Great fish tacos, soups were great and habanero salsa was so good. Maria our concierge made us feel welcome and right at home!
We have just returned from our vacation at this resort, and what can I say? It was absolutely amazing! From swizerland The food, entertainment team, pools, beach, and all the staff were outstanding. Unfortunately, we were there during the sargassum season, but that’s really down to luck and completely beyond the resort’s control. Another big plus was the resort’s app. It was incredibly convenient, easy to use, and beautifully designed—you can do almost everything directly from it. If I had to mention a small downside (really just a minor detail), we weren’t able to book the Japanese restaurant despite following all the instructions. However, it wasn’t a big deal because the buffet offered such a wide variety of delicious food that we never felt like we were missing out. The only other minor issue was the housekeeping schedule. On a couple of occasions our room wasn’t cleaned, but overall it didn’t affect our experience. Overall, we highly recommend this resort. We had a fantastic vacation and would definitely come back!
This was the worst vacation experience I have ever had. I do not recommend this hotel at all. Do not waste your money coming here just to be treated poorly by the staff. There is a complete lack of professionalism and customer service. In addition, the hotel does not meet basic cleanliness standards. Management needs to properly train its employees to treat guests with respect, kindness, and professionalism. A vacation should be an enjoyable experience, not one where guests feel unwelcome and mistreated.
Facilities and beach place in front of pool bar at Coral. Many restaurants to choose every night. Room at Coral rooftop was amazing
Room service sometimes delays
This resort was amazing for our stay! Upon arrival we had a mishap with our room that the staff quickly resolved with zero complaints. The food was great, waiters were incredibly kind, as well as the bartenders. Omar (waiter) treated us perfectly at the pool and gave above and beyond service. Gabriel and Jimmy on the entertainment team made us feel loved and appreciated during our stay and took the time to get to know us which made a big impact on us! Would recommend definitely!!
Everything was just perfect!
Location was beautiful and amenities were lovely.
Some issues we experienced. 1. Restaurant - booking not allowed (for all restaurants escort the Japanese restaurant where a booking was mandatory) however you could not always get in to all the other restaurants to utilise as they were full. 2. Dress code - issues depending on different staff. The dress codes did not apply equitably to all guests. We were turned away from a restaurant because of this but saw other patrons dressed similarly and were allowed in. 3. Ordered cake and celebratory style balloons for engagement of my son and his fiancée. I organised this the day we arrived and on the day of the restaurant booking I doubled checked to see if it was arranged. I was advised it was. On evening of the restaurant staff had no idea and nothing sorted. 4. Lack of availability for drinks to order (run out of stuff). 5. Check out - no one to process insufficient staffing. 6. It felt like a distinct lack of leadership within the resort. 7. We were accosted for 2 hours regarding ‘time share type partnership’ with the Iberostar. Over the course of the time frames different members of this group tried different strategies to get me to ‘join and pay a significantly large amount of money upfront and then monthly deductions in USD to be a member’. When I finally stayed I was frustrated and couldn’t afford what they were asking I was insulted by the staff member who was apparently the ‘big manager’. Terrible experience. On a positive note the majority do the staff were very friendly and wanted to assist however there was nil visible clear leadership or directional support for the same. Staff spoke wonderful English. The resort itself is beautiful. Even though it is all inclusive it is still expensive.
Had an amazing time on my trip here, 10/10 brought my 8 year old son and we were entertained the entire time The camp was also a great added touch he wanted to go everyday! The staff are all nice, and pools were really clean no complaints
Our stay has had many positive aspects, but we experienced an uncomfortable situation that impacted our vacation. After check-in, we were invited to breakfast the following morning. Upon arriving, we learned that the breakfast also included a membership presentation. We agreed to listen while having breakfast. During the presentation, we explained several times that we were not interested in purchasing a membership and that we needed to return to our room because our one-year-old child was becoming tired and upset. Despite our repeated attempts to end the presentation, the discussion continued. Toward the end, after we again indicated that we were unlikely to be interested and needed to leave, a salesperson made a comment referencing our Indian background. Regardless of the intended meaning, the remark made us feel uncomfortable and singled out based on our ethnicity. As parents traveling with a young child, we would have appreciated more respect for our time and a smoother conclusion once we had clearly declined the offer. We hope management reviews how these presentations are conducted and ensures all guests feel respected and comfortable throughout their stay.
Beach facilities, all inclusive package
Disconnect between hotel and Booking.com in terms of what is being offered. Quality of food in main restaurant could improve. Theatre set up for 2026 SWC not great - bar service was poor, sound and visual quality of the projector not great.
Love the iberostar hotels and this one is no exception. From the moment you step out of the ride from the airport you are welcomed back like family. The staff is kind, courteous and eager to make your stay enjoyable. Every area is impeccably clean. My son and I had an amazing view of the ocean and couldn’t have been happier. There was always something great to eat!
Pool and pools bars were clean and the drinks weren't too watered down at the adult only bars. Entertainment crew was nice and the normal service workers around the adults only bar were great.
The "marketing session" is a weird time share where they want you to buy 9 years of vacations from them starting at $40,000 for the cheapest package. You can say No but everytime you do another person tries to sell you more. It was supposed to be 90 minutes but was 3 hours day 1. Regina the first girl tries to overshare about the tragedies in her life to sympathy bond. The last old guy who is someone higher up in the hotel chain just weirdly tried to insult me to get me to buy. It was a s a very strange interaction. When I didn't want to buy 40k USD package he said, "are you a Jew" which was just odd and random. When I said no im not Jewish he responded with, "oh I thought you were because jews are cheap" he also seemed to make fun. Of their own pricing of the hotel laughing at us that we paid so much to stay there... which... was the normal price they offer. When we didn't want it Regina tried speaking to my gf in Spanish on the side to convince her to get to me saying things like oh you never know how your relationship will go do you want to sign up yourself. Really weird trying to enjoy the location when this starts at 8am on your first day and makes it hard to enjoy the hotel. The food was really bad at the buffets and the service workers within the main resort dont really care about serving you but just clearing your stuff. No one had an issue getting their plates removed when they were leaving. We sat on the other side to a host stand where they had all of their cutlery and when we asked if we could get a fork (when there were not settings at the table the sat us) she responded with, "we needed to ask our waiter" as she continues to go back and forth setting up tables instead of just.... handing us a fork. The ACs in the rooms didn't work well and they say the entire hotel is on a certain temp but only our room was hot. All of the restaurants are on the family side.
Great service, we spent most of our time at Las Perlas pool Bar and Veronica took really good care of us. This is my 2nd time at this resort and I’ll definitely come back. Thanks to all, please take good care of Veronica and her staff. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Amazing views from my room! Staff was very helpful and super friendly. Veronica Chavez our server was superb!!! Very attentive!!
The breakfast was amazing with an endless choice of food. The smell when you walk into the front reception is lovely and all the staff are so friendly, especially the staff in the Pool Bar.
We ate in the Italian restaurant on one of the nights, and it was okay, but not great.
My husband and I got married here on 04.25.2026 and had the biggest wedding yet, consisting of a little over 80 people. We had the most beautiful wedding to ever exist, although the wedding planning could have been a million times better, I learned all inclusive does not include wedding costs. Everything was an additional costs which is crazy considering the people would not have stayed on your property if it wasn’t for us. Additionally, on the wedding day several things were needing to be set up and placed and weren’t. I try not to dwell on what could have been but it is disappointing. My sister did have an allergic reaction at the Caribbean restaurant. The allergy was disclosed prior to being served. The waitress got the dishes mixed up and she ate the food she has an allergy to which was very scary. She did have a reaction and struggled the rest of the trip. I do think the rooms need to be updated, and room service should be available 24/7. Overall, a great resort. The water on property is stunning. Food was good, we found ourselves at the buffet most of the time. I could see myself going back.
The pools, overall appearance although somewhat dated
The food at the restaurants was only mediocre. Morning buffet was the best. The entertainment was below par.
My wife and I have just returned from celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary at Iberostar Selection Cancun, and honestly, this holiday meant more to us than words can fully explain. From the moment we arrived, the hotel exceeded our expectations. The staff were warm, welcoming and genuinely friendly throughout our stay. We were given a high floor room with breathtaking views, and waking up early each morning watching the sunrise over the ocean became one of the most peaceful experiences we’ve had in years. The hotel was beautiful, spotless and relaxing, with excellent food and a lovely atmosphere throughout. Every restaurant we tried was fantastic, especially the steakhouse and hibachi experience. But more than anything, this holiday gave us something we didn’t realise we needed so badly — peace. Life had been stressful for a long time, and while we were here, we truly switched off from the outside world. Sitting quietly together listening to the waves, watching the sunsets and simply enjoying each other’s company created memories we’ll never forget. Thank you to everyone at Iberostar Selection Cancun for making our anniversary so special. We arrived exhausted mentally and left with a piece of our hearts still there. We will treasure this holiday forever.
bonnes prestations, belle plage, personnel très serviable Bel environnement . partie adult only ...
We were at the Iberostar Selection Cancun May 10-14th, 2026. We have been to many Cancun all inclusives. There's a good vibe at the Iberostar from the moment you get dropped off until you head back to the airport. Our only complaint was not the resort, but the Caribbean. This was our first vacation in May in Cancun. The sargassum was an issue. It was on the beach and in varied thickness at the waters edge. Special thanks to Jimmy and the entertainment team, Abisai in the Buffet restaurant, and Dariana at the front check in desk. We will be back but not in sargassum season!
This place was so much fun, I never got bored once the whole time. I was there for five days and enjoyed all the awesome activities that Jimmy and the entertainment crew put together. Such a memorable experience that I’ll never forget. Can’t wait to come back!
Spent 12 nights here and had yet another great stay. The receptionist told us that the hotel was full so couldn’t give us an upgraded room for a couple of days. Checked in to our first room which was in the main building and all was good. Not the biggest room but was what we originally booked and had been happy with. Two days later we were moved to a Star Prestige villa which was a much nicer and larger room and bathroom with use of a private pool reserved for Prestige members. It was away from the main part of the hotel and a lot quieter. As before the food was really good. Apart from the hibachi grill, none of the restaurants take dinner reservations. Saying that, because we made a complaint to Guest Service about a restaurant they reserved a table at the American Grill for us the following evening. The Mexican by the beach is great for lunch but we weren’t keen on the dinner menu. And the Italian didn’t quite hit the spot. But food elsewhere was excellent and to be honest we really enjoyed the vast choice of food in the buffet restaurant. Chef Daniel is the restaurant manager and appeared in all restaurants during our stay and he stopped to interact with most guests and took comments on board. Chef Danay was frequently seen in the buffet and again she interacted and was most helpful. Juan, new Manager in the American Bistro was an absolute star and will be a great asset to the hotel - we met him on his first shift and he was great and made a point of looking out for us after that. We again had access to Star Prestige lounge (assume through Ihg Lounge Pass) which has a bar with top shelf drinks and snacks. We used to head there for a pre dinner drink and canapés. The only downside is the snacks are exactly the same every single evening which lets it down. The ladies behind the bar were great and after a couple of days knew our drinks before we asked for them. There is quite a lot of hard sell for timeshare / shared ownership especially when you arrive. Reception direct you to Guest Service to go through the resort map and restaurant information and this is where they try to lock you in to a breakfast meeting and property tour. After a couple of days though they gave up. Evening entertainment has vastly improved since our previous visit but some of it is still a little amateurish. Once a week they have a rock show but you have to pay extra to watch it (think around £40pp) so we have never bothered. We were walking by when this show was just about to start and a staff member asked if we wanted to see it. We said yes but we didn’t want to pay. He told us to go ahead with no charge. We just walked straight in with several others. The show was excellent. We didn’t leave the hotel - have visited Cancun many times so ticked off all the tourist bits - and it was a great place to relax and unwind. Would highly recommend the hotel and we will return.
Stayed at the adults only resort on the property, Iberostar Selection Coral Cancun, and walked over to this resort a few times during our stay. Huge pool. Beautiful beach. LOTS of kids activities. Beach is handicapped accessible too. Go to the 9th floor and take some pictures from the windows facing the beach and lagoon. Great family friendly resort. Perfect for a family getaway or a destination wedding.
We researched and researched and even had the help of the best Travel Agent, Tari Travels and eventually picked Iberostar Cancun Selection to have our wedding. We are a blended family with five children traveling from Wisconsin. Our wedding at Iberostar was unbelievable! We cannot say enough about Janet, who was our wedding Sales Director. Her professionalism, support and ability to solve any issues that arose exceeded our expectations. Whenever we needed something, she intuitively stepped in and supported us without us even asking. She made sure the wedding set up.and choreography What exactly what we envisioned for our special day. Our children and the adults on the trip all had the best time. The service, food, wedding vendors and amenities during our stay as well as the amazing pools and beach made sure that the adults and the children on the trip had a truly memorable experience. There was even a rainbow over the ocean during the wedding. Thank you Iberostar, Janet and Tari Travels!!!
The resort itself is beautiful, surrounded by jungle and beach, and the employees were very friendly. However, entertainment and the food was disappointing. My kids had a hard time finding things they actually wanted to eat, and they are not picky at all. Mexico has also become extremely expensive compared to the last time I visited. It honestly feels like tourists are treated like walking ATMs. For example, I paid $62 USD for just one sunscreen and one bug spray at the resort, which is absurd. I love Mexico, but at this price point, it’s not worth it. Destinations like Jamaica, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico are just as beautiful and far more enjoyable for the cost.
Staying at the hotel for 3 nights, booked at ihg site. It showed I'll be given 450 points/dollars to use at the hotel. At the time of check-in, got to know i have to attend the dreaded sales song/dance for some vacation package. Dint realize i had bit the bait, i was clearly tricked by the dangling resort credits. I have no complaints about the property, very clean and good amenities. Lots of kids and adult entertainment to enjoy during the stay. Again, want to caution folks with the resort credits/dollars that appear at the time of booking, means you're going to be arm twisted after reaching the resort.
We thankfully upgraded to the Coral Tower which is the VIP side, although still a lot of downfalls. Let me start with the positives, as a Coral member you have access to everything, including the main hotel. The majority of the staff on the Coral side are amazing and helpful. There are a select few that you can tell are just here and don’t want to do anything at all. The main side?! OMG, this is 2026 and if you’re white or light skinned to say it politically correct, they are so rude!! I do not speak Spanish unfortunately so when I tried ordering a drink or food I was met with anger and dirty looks! I ordered a burger from the burger box on 4/29/26 and the woman took my order thankfully because the person next to me told them what I wanted in Spanish, she said okay and walked away and never came back. The other man on the grill never acknowledged anyone standing there waiting to order…turned to me with an attitude asking me what I wanted in Spanish. I used my translator and he was angry and annoyed and basically just threw the most subpar burger at me. I’m a big traveler and this was my first and last time staying at an iberoster. I’m not sure how they are in other countries but I’d never come back to this one, I appreciate and value respect and know it’s not received too well here.
Hey everyone. We just got back from 5 days at the resort. We had a great time, but we wouldn't come back. I'll explain. Hotel was at 65% occupancy when we were there, and the last two days it was 85% occupancy. We stayed in the main hotel, and not on the Coral side, FYI. First things first... The other reviews are correct... If you leave this resort disappointed, there's probably something wrong with you... No resort is perfect on the strip. Trust me, we've been to over a dozen over the last 25 years... We even got married 15 years ago at one of the hotels north of here. Iberostar Cancun does some things great, a lot of things good, but nothing was poor at this resort. The GREAT: FOOD: The food in the restaurants is great for an all-inclusive. We ate at the steakhouse and walked right in at 7:00 p.m., no wait. I was shocked at how good the steak was, All things considered. This isn't a Ruth's Chris steakhouse, but it was very good for a steak in Cancun. The next night we walked right into the Italian restaurant around 6:30. We didn't have to wait at all. It did get a little busy around 8:00 p.m. when we were leaving though. The following night we went to the American restaurant over by the coral side and we also walked right in. This time it was 5:50 p.m. We were definitely worried about the wait at the restaurants, having to get there at 5:00 p.m. and then wait around for an hour to get seated. That didn't happen to us at all. I couldn't imagine wanting anything else in the buffet for breakfast. It had it all. Even piles of bacon lying out, which is not common at these resorts. Usually the omelet guy has the bacon hiding... DRINKS and CAFE: I've been to a bunch of these AI's on the strip, and I've never been to one where you can get a drink at 8:30 in the morning at a lobby bar lol. Usually it's 10:00 or 11:00 at the earliest. It's great if you want a little nip in the morning. The coffee shop is open 24/7. I didn't verify this, but that's unheard of at these resorts. Probably because it's unnecessary, but still. Pretty cool... IMPROVEMENTS NEEDED: Let me preface that I'm only listing these since they are expected, since they are the norm at a lot of the neighboring hotels down the strip. You will still enjoy your stay at Iberostar Cancun, but these are the things that flagged in our heads: Biggest con: SERVICE.... While the staff is very courteous, they are fairly timid and lack any personality, compared to other resorts we've been to. Usually we get five or six photos of different staff members, all of which loved to joke around and show their true personalities. Only one or two of them stood out. Maybe it's a language barrier, and the staff here aren't as proficient in English as others... Speaking of staff, they need more of them outside. Big time! They need at least 5 or 6 servers running around getting drinks for the pool area, and two or three for the beach palapa area. I think I only saw maybe two or three in the whole resort serving. That's unheard of for a resort of this caliber. In 5 days we had one guy named Adrian come up to us by the pool. One guy ... I know they were burnt out from that huge Passover group that came a week prior, but still. They can easily take some of those timeshare people and repurpose them outside. They're usually just sitting around across from the check-in counter. This was also very noticeable at the breakfast buffet. Sometimes there wasn't even a hostess to seat us. Which I'm okay with, but I've never seen that in 25 years. Also the wait staff didn't really hustle around all the tables getting people coffee and drinks like we've seen at basically every resort we've been to. There's usually five or six guys running around like crazy at other resorts, refilling your coffee, refolding your napkin, getting you one of the fruit juices... Whatever you need. This is also a place where we find a lot of funny characters at other resorts. Not here... Just a few other things to note. The rooms in the main hotel are a bit dated. The balcony door was difficult to lock properly, the bathroom area was definitely showing some wear, and there isn't much privacy. They stocked the fridge just fine, but there are no snacks in the room, which is a very common thing. Honestly I didn't really care about any of that since the showers were hot, water pressure was good, and the AC was consistent. Those are hit or miss at almost all the resorts. The lobby / check-in area is a bit chaotic. That's really due to the layout of the hotel since it's a bit narrow in this area and can get really congested when there's a bunch of people checking in. Most hotels on the strip have a really large lobby for you to check in I also wouldn't recommend going here if someone in your family is elderly or has a mobility problem. It's basically a mouse maze of steps to go from the resort to the sand. They don't have paper to-go cups in the cafe for coffee or tea. Just porcelain tea cups and plastic cups. Never seen this before... Most of these resorts are environmentally conscious, but you could always recycle the paper coffee cups. the last thing I would mention is having entertainment at 9:30pm is way too late. Start it at 8:00, especially since a lot of it is targeted towards kids.
We came for a wedding. The were some conditions here that we had not found in other All Inclusive Resorts. I was disappointed at the lack of adult activity options. The swim up bar staff had racist attitudes toward people of color. Go figure... we're in a country of brown people! Staff would ignore a brown person to wait on a white person. AND, refuse to serve black people the high end tequila. At the steak resturant there were options that required additional fees. Entertainment also required a fee. The wedding planner seemed unresponsive to needs even though guests were standing with no where to sit at the reception. Iberostar sent us transport information regarding our transport with Nexus, yet at the resort they were unable yo assist with scheduling. I will not return! I will discourage others from this venue as well.
I’ll start with the good, but this review is specifically for those who want to dive with Dressel Divers - after all it was pitched to us as a “Dive Resort.” If you’re a diver you need to read the “bad,” too. The property is beautiful and well-maintained. The pools are large with lots of options for lounging around in sun or shade and the margaritas are good. The bar tenders are so nice and efficient - just don’t know how they do it! The buffet restaurant was nice and the staff were friendly and responsive. Kudos to all of their sweet staff members. Now the bad: if you are a diver you need to know the following: We did one day of morning dives and switched to afternoons because every single dive operation on the island has their boats out and the diving is like being at Walmart at Christmas. The afternoons were much calmer by comparison- but - we’re just DONE! Yesterday morning, Saturday, April 25, 2026, was our last dive. Should have done two dives yesterday and another two this morning but this dive operation has totally gone bad - only four of our group yesterday were even remotely ready (skills & experience) for that dive and there were a lot of these situations daily. The currents were strong and shifting and the dive deep and all about swim throughs - Palancar Caves, to be specific. I watched a woman “accidentally inflate her bc” from 70+ feet and float uncontrollably to the surface. The dive master, Berta, busted her ass trying to help this woman, but in the end blew out her own ear drums in the attempt. She did deploy her surface marker and the woman did make it back to the boat safely. But it was more luck than anything else. And I’m not exaggerating when I say in Cozumel if you don’t have your surface marker when you surface it’s pure luck if you don’t get run over. Other divers had NO buoyancy control, they were terrified in ripping and changing currents and struggled the entire time just trying to cope. Here’s the really disgusting thing: Only three of their five boats were used. All the same size but of those three, one boat had 6 divers, the second had 14 and the third- our boat - had 27 divers. And skill levels were all over the place. Palancar Caves in shifting currents is no dive for the inexperienced! All divers were dropped on ONE site - a deep site with lots of swim throughs. This happened every single day. Finally, they limit their dive sites - see photos- so expect to dive the same sites over and over.

Veronica at the Lobby Terraza bar is fantastic. We enjoyed our time chatting to her and the service was amazing.
Good food, pools, beach and activities
Our stay was deeply disappointing due to extreme overcrowding and constant noise, making relaxation impossible. Despite advertising 7 restaurants, only 2 were operational, leading to huge queues and limited choices. The atmosphere was chaotic, and the resort failed to manage capacity effectively. Not recommended for a relaxing vacation. The resort was packed beyond capacity, with the adjoining hotels not even accessible to us. A massive disappointment was that only 2 of the 7 advertised restaurants were open. The lack of variety resulted in boring, repetitive meals. The staff seemed overwhelmed and struggled to handle the high volume of guests, leading to slow service and issues not being resolved. Apparently, the same group has booked the majority of the hotel for the past several years on the same dates. It would have been great if the hotel had been upfront about having limited access to everything upon booking. My husband and I felt very deceived. Constant noise from screaming, loud music, and thin walls meant we had almost no sleep. We were looking forward to relaxing, and instead had a full blown carnival outside of our bedroom window that went well past 1:00am. We had previously stayed at the Iberostar in Jamaica and absolutely loved it! Unfortunately, this hotel paled in comparison. I would give it zero stars if I could.
Conclusion: I stayed five nights at Iberostar Cancun Selection, and it was much better than expected. I’ve stayed at similar hotels in Europe before, which were not the best experiences, but this one was different—great food, good cocktails, and amazing service. I will definitely be back. Review: Getting a taxi at Cancun Airport can be a nightmare, which is why I booked a shuttle to the hotel in advance. It was an easy and good choice. Uber is not allowed to pick up passengers at the airport. I arrived at the hotel around noon, so my room wasn’t ready yet, which is understandable. The check-in process was very efficient, and the staff were kind and welcoming. The only downside of the hotel is its location. It’s quite far from everything, but it’s still easy to get around with Uber. However, since Uber is not allowed to pick up directly at the resort, you need to walk to the main road. On the positive side, the hotel is located directly on the beach. I booked a Premium room with a balcony and sea view. The room was spacious, clean, and very nice, with an amazing view of the beach and pool area. The hotel is all-inclusive, which also covers the minibar in the room, although it mainly includes sodas, beer, and juice. The hotel has several restaurants, including Italian, Mexican, and Japanese options, as well as a large buffet restaurant where breakfast is served. All the restaurants offer very good food, and my favorite was the Italian one. Be aware that it can be difficult to get a table during peak hours. The pool area is large and clean, but you need to get up early to secure a sunbed, as many guests reserve them before 8 a.m. There is a pool bar serving good cocktails, and the service is excellent. You’ll also find a bar and a burger spot by the beach.
This was a consistently poor experience - particularly relative to what Iberostar is capable of providing - with the caveat that we are members and have been numerous times to the Riviera Maya complex at Playa Paraiso. That said, this visit failed at any standard. Housekeeping was awful. We had two consecutive days where they did not clean at all - we were out of the room for nearly all of both days. On the first day, someone came by with an apology and offer of towels. He had no glasses for us - more on thst momentarily. One would think that would put us on the -must clean- list for the next day. Nope. The silver lining, I guess , of no housekeeping is that when our room was cleaned, housekeeping removed all glassware for some reason and also removed complimentary wine bottles that had been delivered to us. We had to go down to prestige lounge for glasses. The music is everywhere and crazy loud. Atrium was at times so loud we had to plug our ears to walk through it and our room was too close to the central atrium and also faced the pool area - constant. Even the beach area had music at 7am. The buffet restaurant singer was so loud that you could not have a conversation at dinner. We asked to sit outside on the nearly empty patio and were told no. We complained and they allowed us to sit out there - while making derogatory remarks about us in Spanish. Food was fine but the buffet had little day to day variety and the steak place was basically a poorly maintained buffet. On the monday of our stay, they parked a sewage truck at the entrance to the members beach area to drain the septic tanks - it took several hours, it was loud (a break from the music I guess) and stank to high heaven. Bell stand initially refused to let the driver from our medical clinic come on the property. They claimed it was for our safety, but also said we could walk down to him. I had had surgery the previous day. What they were protecting was cabbie kickbacks - they eventually relented. The iberostar-owned W2M transport basically forgot us and the bell stand coupd not have cared less - same on the inside - until they realized we were members - and then we had a van there in five minutes - but 45 minutes late. Thankfully our flight was also delayed. I could go on. Unacceptable experience. We will not be back.
Loved the room most of all! We want to go back as soon as possible. The foods and drinks were good. The view from the top floor was spectacular.
The hotel and view are beautiful. Activities are so fun and they have so many options. Best place I have stayed in cancun
Great resort, beach was beautiful only got some seaweed on the last day, a la cart was so good it felt like you were in restaurants off the resorts . Highly recommend this resort!!!
Probably the worst accommodation stayed in. Overpriced with terrible customer service.
We would give this resort an 8 out of 10. We liked that it wasn't too spread out - easy to get from our room to everything else. The resort was clean, well maintained - beautiful lobby and beach. Rooms/beds were very comfortable. The food at the buffet was very good - the restaurants were ok/not great, but typical of all inclusives. Same with the shows each night. The staff really tried! Service was great and all staff members were helpful. It was not overly crowded - just right the week of March 15.
It was the third time for us to visit Cancun The hotel is pretty big with large pool. Location: is it far from hotel zone downtown but it is only $1 to commute per trip by bus. Food: the main buffet is perfect,. Many options plus charcoal barbecue everyday. The buffet main options changes from day today, so the menus are not boarding. I la carte optios are not very special. We preferred using buffet to save time.e.the Japanese restaurant gives better vibe but for people coming from richmond area of vancouver, the Japanese restaurant stays in middle. In sum up, the buffet is the highlight of hotel. Service: room service is regular standard. But there are more space to work on room cleaning services. Our room at 8th floor got room cleaning between 2pm to 4 pm which was a little late compared to other hotels. Used towels weren't replaced in most of the days. The hand soap run out. We asked to refilling but it took 1 day to address the request. Rooms need vacuuming every second day since there were hair everywhere even after cleaning. Staff: they are very polite and helpful. The staff always try to help as much as possible. Entertainment: a little boring compared to other hotels like Riu. It was surprising to pay Friday night Entertainment.
I will try to be as balanced about this review as possible. For context, I’ve stayed at multiple all inclusive spots with my wife recently, our all time favourite being the IKOS brand. In comparison to our previous experiences and what we’d expect from a relaxing 5 night break in the sun, our stay at Iberostar Selection was pretty awful. The staff were very rude, especially the salesmen in front of the reception desk that tried to hard sell everything to you. The food wasn’t great either - if you want to eat at the steak restaurant, you need to get there on opening at 5.30pm and you still find a long queue there. Some guests knew how to get on a waiting list but the staff were pretty cagey with that info… unless you spoke Spanish ! The buffet restaurant didn’t require a booking. But the food there was mass produced and very hit and miss. Some days, the veggies weren’t fresh. The freshly made fish wasn’t bad, to be fair. On checking out, I got a massage and it turned out to be pretty stressful as I got shouted at by the lady. All quite comical, if you like tragic comedies. Once again, this goes down to the demeanour of their staff, very rude. To cap it all, not all drinks are free. I ended up having to buy a bottle of alcohol (as they’d run out of the cheap one) but got accused of stealing the bottle later. The final straw that broke the camels back was at the Japanese restaurant, our booking was cancelled as we were 12 minutes late. No one told us the grace period to hold the table was 10 minutes. They weren’t having any explanations and wouldn’t even squeeze us in for an hour. Overall, the place was crowded, noisy, not relaxing and staff were rude. I will never go back again and will stick to IKOS and other better brands in future.
Veronica at Coral Lobby bar was the absolute best hostess.
Veronica was the best server. We had a great time!
Great time. Veronica was the best with her service at the bar.
If you are coming to Mexico with family to hang out in the pool or go to the beach, skip this property. Their pool water is very cold. Beach is dirty. We used to come here regularly because our kids loved the warm pool water, but for the last two visits the water has been cold and kids refuse to get in the water. Everyone is in the tiny hot tub because no one wants to go in the cold pool. So those are crowded. we essentially flew this far just to look at an old property, hang out in a crowded hot tub and get average food. Save your money and go somewhere else. When I spoke with someone they just said they will talk to their superiors. And then crickets.
Great trip! An excellent property with beautiful rooms and landscaping, multiple well-kept pools, quality restaurant and beverage options, and a friendly & professional staff- (Jay from The Club exceptional). Thank you!

The hotel was clean and organized. Check in was a breeze. Shoutout to Jay and Nelson in the lobby. So helpful and accommodating. Luis in American Bistro and Geraldo at buffet stood out amongst them all. Hibachi was fun and other restaurants were not too hard to get into as long as you are ok to eat early or late. Not at 7! The snack bars by the pools were convenient - tacos were a favorite with everyone. We walked to the Cancun sign to the left of the hotel and even to a museum q short walk to the right. Felt very safe around outside. Will come back for sure.
Resort was pretty nice; I would definitely stay at Coral Level. Better pool atmosphere, better food. Stay away from American Bistro restaurant. Gym is small but has the basics. Gets really full in the morning. Smallest gym I experienced at all the Iberostar's. Could use more landscape, More palm trees, flowers. Least landscaped resort we have stayed at. Entertainment crew at the Coral Level was the best so far! built nice relationships with them and they went over and above for accommodating us. Hospitality was A+, Food-B+, Room A+, Entertainment at night C. Stay away from 21$ per person rock show- really bad! We walked out. Entertainment Staff and Pool staff A+++. All other staff A+. Bar staff at Coral Level Pool- A+++ Cheyney Family- Annville, Pa
This was my first all inclusive experience and I was hesitant if I'd enjoy the experience. I can say without a doubt that this resort turned me into a fan of the idea! My friends and I had so much fun at the resorts, pools and beautiful beach. We were there for a wedding and the wedding reception and event was beautiful. We spent a week at the hotel and actually opted out of off resort excursions so we could enjoy on resort activities. We were there during some countries March break and the resort never felt crowded. We could always get a resort chair and the activities always had room for participants. I have allergies and was always able to eat something. Guest Services wrote me a letter explaining my allergies in Spanish, and I carried that around so I could make sure the food was prepared in a way I could eat. The buffet would prepare me food fresh if I needed and I was never sick from eating any food. There are 5 included restaurants and a delicious buffet as well as room service available daily. The staff really made my time. Shout out Nelson at guest services who was super helpful, Chef Daniel at the Buffet and restaurants, and Joel, Raymundo,Fredy Joel and Alejandra at the bars. We had a great time doing activities with Alvarez (aquafit and Zumba) and excellent service from Daniel in the evening entertainment team. We had a premium ocean view with balcony. The views were nice and the rooms always clean. The Iberostar app even notifies you when the staff are done cleaning your room. I will be choosing to stay at an Iberostar property in the future because of the quality of service, and will encourage future friend vacations at this resort.
We paid extra for ocean view and balcony. We were given a room that overlooked pipes and a noisy restaurant back entrance. They changed us without discussion to a better room. It is an elitist hotel catering to South American, European, Japanese, Asian guests. Not very friendly to Canadian seniors. Wait staff in buffet were good. The rooms were very clean. The food was "Mexican " average. This was our tenth visit to Mexico.W
The hotel is beautiful! The rooms are clean, the food is very good, and the beach is amazing! The real asset of this paradise though is it's people! The staff are incredible! Huge shout out to people like Jay and Guadalupe and Fermin making sure that you are comfortable and well cared for... Going above and beyond to provide information to help you make decisions! Israel and Carmen and Armondo and Angela down at the beach making and bringing drinks... So friendly, happy, and welcoming!
We just got back from a week's stay at Iberostar Selection Cancun. We had a private pool villa overlooking the ocean, and it was fantastic. The whole trip was a wonderful experience, and we already want to return next year! I traveled with my husband and 2 teenage daughters, 13 + 15. The resort was safe & fun! Big special shoutout to Fermin, our concierge @ the beach club. His service was outstanding!! Carmen and Israel were outstanding as well!! Overall, a 5-star trip, and we most definitely will be back!!!!
