Lovely - but not quite as charming as I remembered it from 40 years ago.
The breakfast was superb.
The overhead shower did not work, and only very limited coffee in the room.
Everything is perfect!!!!
Location cleanliness and food
It was old not worth to pay a lot of money for the uncomfortable pilow and TV that is not wotking

A truly outstanding world class luxury hotel .. it felt like stepping back in time to the days of true service and courtesy. The immaculately dressed staff could not have been more professional and attentive. The love music was a delight and the public rooms and art deco style was stunning.
A piece of history architectural design elegant
The room was nice. It met expectations.
They did not have an airport shuttle. They took a deposit for incidentals for the room and other services, and I still had to pay out of pocket at the hotel restaurant instead of charging the dinner to the room. They held a deposit and charged for services without explanation when it was brought to the manager's attention.
Always looking forward to breakfast
Checking in was a hassle since i am a senior and can't stand for a long time
We loved everything about the hotel. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. Everyone was polite and professional as well. It is obvious that they take great pride in the hotel and their jobs there. And lastly, the breakfast buffet was so lovely! We will be staying here many more times!
Nothing. I can’t find a single bad thing to say!
Carpets in rooms were old and filthy / stained around all edges. Certainly not 5 star.

It was July of 2026 when I travelled to Manila for the first time solo. It was for the 48th Annual Scientific Meeting (48th ASM) of the National Academy of Science and Technology of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-NAST). It was also the 50th Anniversary of NAST so it was a momentous experience for me as a scientific poster presenter and an undergraduate student all the way from Mindanao. The walkability from this hotel was indeed walkable distance from the hotel that I'm staying for 3 nights; it was nearby Luneta Park as well so I got to enjoy the tourist destinations before I even went to the actual event. I also really enjoyed the accommodation there; the place is as luxurious as I expected (since I grew up poor, this was a once-in-a-lifetime experience), the food was exotic at best along with the exceptional service, and the rooms and hallways were so clean. And on top of all these things, the atmosphere here is ambient in way, clean, and as well as eye-catching, with not much noise coming from the outside. Overall, for someone who enjoyed all of these with taxpayers' money through DOST-NAST, it was worth the value indeed. Thank you so much to the staff behind The Manila Hotel for making this first-time experience an experience worth remembering! To the people behind NAST, thank you for being part of my journey as a student and as an aspiring researcher!
Everything is very goog
The room and the breakfast were both excellent, but the courtesy and efficiency of the staff were exceptional.
Everything was excellent.
Everything except the one in charge of assigning rooms and preparing things that I asked prior to our arrival.
They did not arrange my preference to put the two rooms adjacent to each other that I asked prior to our check in.
It's THE Manila Hotel! Stayed there overnight because we had a sorority ball at the hotel. It was convenient to check-in, also had hair and makeup done at the hotel salon. Still very classy and comfortable hotel.
Staff and the piano music at night
I asked several months back to put my room and that of my other half of our family in two adjacent room. They did not do it. Whoever was assigming rooms does not know how to accomodate customers for request.

Staff were lovely . Entrance hall and lobby amazing. Breakfast incredible . Room spacious and well equipped
Bath taps not working properly . Toilet seat loose. Pillows a bit hard .

General location but I knew that And I wanted to be there for the history of intramurals And the feel of such a nice old building Yes Mom
My stay at The Manila Hotel exceeded every expectation. The amenities were not merely complete—they were far more generous and refined than one would anticipate, making every moment comfortable and memorable. The price is remarkably reasonable and fully justifiable for the level of luxury, heritage, and service provided. Its location is second to none, placing guests at the heart of Manila's most historic and iconic attractions. The staff delivered superb service with warmth, professionalism, and genuine hospitality. As for the view, calling it "majestic" would be an oversimplification. It is a breathtaking panorama that captures the grandeur of Manila Bay, history, and elegance in a single glance. The Manila Hotel is not simply a place to stay—it is an experience to cherish.
Zeer uitgebreid ontbijt. Zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. Je wordt als koning(in) behandeld. Live muziek tijdens diner.

The staff and food were excellent
Historic charm, the staff were so helpful, and the location was good.
The staff were friendly and attentive, and we got a room with a lovely view. The lobby was grand, and you could truly feel the historical vibe of the place. The breakfast buffet in Café Ilang-Ilang was great! I enjoyed all the food, especially the taho, hot chocolate, pandesal and of course the typical Filipino breakfast~danggit with fried rice.
Overall, we were satisfied with our stay, but I think there’s still some room for improvement in the breakfast area. It was so crowded and noisy. OMG! It felt like we were eating in a canteen, and it was hard to enjoy a peaceful breakfast. They also informed us about the dress code upon check-in, but some guests were not following the rules.
Room very comfortable Breakfast excellent Location great Shuttle service good
Smoking facilities nasty Breakfast finished too early geared to setting up lunch rather than ensuring good breakfast
What a sad shock! We haven't stayed here since 1991 when Mt Pinatubo erupted. At that time the Manila Hotel was charming. In 2026 it seems to have lost it. The lobby is like a railway station, the noise and crowds wielding cameras, have totally destroyed it's previous unique atmosphere. We're not even allowed to sign any consumption to our room. The staff are helpful but they seem to be governed by ridiculous rules. I am so so disappointed. My husband and I have been looking forward to revisiting one of our favourite hotels. Never again. 😪
comfy room
I booked an overnight stay for two at the Manila Hotel in April 2026 because of the Run for Million Trees fun run. Manila Hotel is just a few steps away from the Quirino Grandstand, making it the perfect choice. Since I was with my 83-year old mother, the concierge assigned to us a room with a PWD-friendly bathroom, which we appreciated. The hotel also had a turn down service in which checked-in guests were given sample chocolates. The breakfast buffet has a wide variety of Filipino and international food though it may be difficult to get a table at the Cafe Ilang Ilang during peak hours. The hotel rate per night is reasonably priced and the same goes for the restaurants. The hotel never runs out of events from morning till night so parking is understandably difficult. Valet service can be availed of but expect to wait for at least 15 minutes before your car is handed back to you at the lobby.
The room, the food, the staff- all excellent.
The surrounding area doesnt look safe at night.
Great, staff super pleasant
Worst reception I made two bookings via Klook but one of them suddenly not confirmed. As a consequently, one booking via Manila hotel own website and another one via Klook but the reception lady told none booking received. After twenty some minutes checking, it was told only hotel own website booking found but not another one via KLook, i asked her to call the contact number in the Klook voucher but she refused and said it should be my responsibility to call. She finally called at once when i asked her to write down no Klook booking was found in writing. As a result, she confirmed both bookings located and asked me to come back at noon when room is ready. I returned at 1600hrs to get room but another reception lady told ONLY hotel own website booking was noted. I therefore needed to show my Klook voucher but again told not received. I asked the lady duty Asst Manager to help where she called the agency and confirmed the booking BUT failed to note my SUNRISE SUITE BOOKING indicated on the Klook vouncher. She then called agency again but still not honoured the suite booking clearly indicated in the voucher where they did take a photo of the voucher. As we stood at counter over an hour, i therefore check in the standard room and called Klook where Klook double confirmed with hotel that it should Suite booking around 1730hrs. However, it took five more hours for the Asst manager to write me a note without any apologize to tell it should be Suite booking around 2100hrs. Nevertheless, the breakfast and afternoon tea were good. I wont stay again as the whole reception was a mess nor helpful.
Excellent stay. Tiny criticism, no teaspoons in restaurant. Everytime i ordered or went to the coffee station there are NO teaspoons. How are you supposed to stir the sugar with your finger? As I say, a very small criticism, but my stay was Excellent as always 😊

Classic old fashioned but maintained and elegant
I liked the room very much - it was very comfortable. And the level of service was excellent.
We were here last Christmas and I gave a perfect rating then due to our flawless hotel experience. This time, it was somewhat different. Upon arriving at the drop-off area, the doormen in white were busy looking after the wealthy-looking guests, on-standby and ready to assist them, forgetting that other guests were also arriving in ordinary-looking cars, who may also need their assistance. Check-in was a breeze since we arrived at almost 5pm, and the front desk lady was very friendly. Upon leaving our luggage in the room, we headed straight to the lobby lounge for dinner. We saw a vacant table near the piano, but the staff said that it was already "reserved"... I thought there was no reservation option at the lobby lounge? But we let it pass. We decided to have our dinner at the Tap Room instead since it was quieter at that time. The lady server at the Tap Room looks tired, she never smiled the entire time we were there. She didnt even place our drinks correctly on our table, and I was shocked when she placed the paper straws for our drinks directly on the table that obviously had food stains from previous customers. I did not leave a tip as we didnt feel at least the basic customer service you would expect from The Manila Hotel. We headed to the pool bar around 8pm. We sat on the sunken bar stools and none of the staff looked at us, as if we never existed. One was busy laughing while talking on the landline phone, while the other was also busy arranging stuff at the bar. I noticed that the other pool bar servers were very attentive with foreigners, that they tend to overlook local guests. After a good 10 minutes of waiting for any of the multiple bar staff to finally notice us, someone finally handed us the menu, and it took another perhaps quite a while before I was able to get the attention of another bar staff to take my order. I also didnt leave a tip due to the feeling of being ignored by the bunch of staff at the pool bar. Totally disappointing. The saving grace was the breakfast restaurant Cafe Ilang Ilang. From the very nice lady at the restaurant reception area, to the servers who were helpful and attentive. They reminded me that yes, this is The Manila Hotel where the staff are known to be friendly and helpful. All of the food we had were great. Loved the beef tapa and pancit malabon we ordered at the Tap Room, truffle fries and calamares at the pool bar, and of course, the great selection of breakfast at Cafe Ilang-Ilang. I've read a review here from April 9th, where the "General Manager" replied. The review stated about some staff lacking customer service. I'm not sure how long it should take from reading a customer feedback to actually correcting the staff behavior to make sure that they uphold this hotel's promise of warm Filipino hospitality. It doesnt need a classroom retraining for it to happen, they just need to be firmly reminded that each one of them represent the entire hotel brand. We are not expecting VIP service, just an attentive, warm, and friendly service that we've experience through years of staying in this hotel which made it our favorite hotel in Manila. It is with a heavy heart that I'm giving The Manila Hotel a mid-rating. But I have to do this to remind the management that something needs to be done ASAP. And hoping that on our next stay, we will experience again what The Manila Hotel felt like on our previous stays. Thank you.
Love this Hotel. I had the best massage at the Spa, Cherrel the therapist was fantastic, very polite and professional.
Ambient and location, historical significance. Amazing hotel!
Over March and April 2026 we stayed in this hotel as tourists on five occasions for multiple days. The hotel has multiple convention and event halls where a lot of its guests connect from. It is a historical hotel but doesn't deliver for tourists. It may have once been a great hotel but standards are only 3 stars these days. Staff are quite robotic how they interact with guests and much less engaged than all the other hotels we stayed in throughout Philippines. As an example guests need to step aside in passageways in the breakfast restaurant as staff just walk boldly often quite deliberately. Most staff do not even talk to you and just do the basic tasks. At bars there is a swarm of staff all watching two staff work. I counted 7 in the pool bar with 1 making drinks and the other running tables whilst the other 5 laughed and chatted. Same scenerio in the Tap Room bar. We had a strong discussion with the repairman over our faulty air-conditioner with no attempt to repair it. Another time our room safe wouldn't open and the repairman blamed me for inputting the wrong code. Once reset I demonstrated what I did and it was obvious the number pad had a faulty number 3. The repairman left without fixing it. The most serious was a very noisy elevator which sounded like it had serious issues with loose parts. I have a background in engineering and building so had a reasonable idea what was causing it. From one stay to the next with a 2 week gap I noted the noises were much worse as parts were progressively getting looser. Some staff told me they won't use the lift for fear of it crashing. We also avoided it. I reported it three times but the elevator still had issues and was still being used when we checked out. At the restaurant outside The Tap Room we had spaghetti and meatballs and wife had a beef roll. The meals were so horrible I told two staff the meals were absolutely awful and got no reaction. Clearly they were zapped in a microwave with bun soggy, 3 tiny meatballs dried, wedges dried and horrible and the spaghetti uneven temperature which results from being zapped rather than cooked fresh. Outward appearances of the hotel you would expect high quality meals especially because they are expensive. This hotel is in a grotty area of Manila and on a very busy mulri lane main road that is not easy to cross for pedestrians. On our last day we had paid for a late checkout to 6pm. During the day I received a phone call asking for feedback on our stay so I explained in details some of our issues. We went to the pool and on our return to the room found our room cards cancelled. At the front desk they would allow us access to remove our luggage. After some discussion they agreed to let us stay until 6pm which we had paid in advance although on checkout tried to bill us a second time. I recommend tourists look elsewhere for better accomodation.
Spacious room
Very old furniture
Exceptional staff frony SHEENA thank you
From the entrance to the lobby, everything at TMH feels welcoming and inviting, with staff that truly elevate the experience. Had an amazing stay.
The rooms could be better equipped for tourists, particularly when it comes to accessible electrical sockets.
Multiple visits to this hotel but different experiences, depending on the season. Lobby is stunning but the ease of check in - again - depending on the season. I would agree that rooms are classic yet elegant. Hotel also holds lot of history as they hosted grand personalities. However, last visit during my husband's convention, I felt discriminated. I wanted to eat in the lobby wearing casual (not lounge/homewear) with my daughter, two groups cut the line. The first one was understandable as they were seniors citizens but the second group were group of middle aged wearing suit and tie. I tried to talk to the manager so they can manage the system and he offered me to use other parts of the restaurant which his staff did not offer to me. Nobody said sorry but I let it pass. Maybe I was just hungry. I ate in the Lobby restaurant again the day after, along with my husband and daughter the next day. The usual, I was wearing casual and my husband was wearing suit and tie because of it was his convention. I personally ordered but when the order came, they set up my husband's table and they did not set up mine. This is my first time be treated this way. Not even in other five star hotels. I reported to the manager on duty and saw her jotting down the details and she mentioned she will contact us but she never did. Regardless of status, they should treat everyone with respect. Everyone is paying here, regardless of their social status. Never again. I, a Filipino, discriminated in Manila at THE Manila Hotel by my co-Filipinos.
