No Microwave in a ‘luxury’ hotel?
The location was incredibly convenient. I had my reception across the street, and the skyway access made it so convenient that I didn’t have to walk outside. Several other guests attending the event also stayed at the hotel, which made the location even more convenient. The skyway access was absolutely amazing and made getting to and from the event effortless. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The room was fairly cozy and comfortable. While the hotel is somewhat outdated, it provided everything I needed for my event, and the convenience of the location more than made up for it.
The hotel is quite dated, with an almost vintage feel.
We rode by Lyft to the State Fair Grandstand Concert. We were assisted in locating the Lyft driver who had parked around the side of the building by the valet assistant.
Clean and secure
Considerar que el parqueo tiene un costo diario de 40 dólares + taxes. El aire acondicionado no se podía apagar y la distribución del cuarto es un algo incómodo. El precio es regular sin embargo no me encantó.
This would appear to be an Intercontinental in name only. When I checked in, I asked if it would be possible to have a room with a river view. I was told I had a room with a partial river view. I do not have any view of the river but I do have a great view of the roof of the part of the building next to me. Also my room is freezing although the thermostat appears to be set to 85 and cannot be changed apparently. Came down for dinner and tried to follow the sign for the concierge. I found myself at the front desk and when I asked if the woman who approached me if she was the concierge, she said “no” - she worked at the front desk. When I asked for the concierge, she did not seem to know what I was asking and instead told me the hotel had a bellman. She then gave me a list of restaurants that were supposedly nearby.
I spoke with Priceline. They were willing to approve the cancellation and refund my remaining night because of my family emergency. The only thing they needed was approval from the hotel confirming that you would not charge Priceline for the unused night. You declined. So, to be clear, this was not a situation where anyone couldn't issue a refund. Priceline was willing to give up whatever profit or fees it would otherwise have been entitled to. They were willing to make an exception—not because they were legally obligated to, but as an act of goodwill during a genuine family emergency. All they needed from the hotel was an agreement not to charge them for a room I would not be using. The room had already been vacated and housekeeping had cleaned it. It could realistically be made available and potentially sold again tonight. Yet the hotel chose to collect payment for the unused night anyway. That distinction matters. Companies frequently use phrases such as "we can't" or "we're unable to." But in this case, the accurate statement is: "We could make an exception, but we choose not to." I understand that the reservation was subject to a cancellation policy. I am not arguing that you were legally required to refund me. That's precisely the point. Compassion and goodwill only mean something when a person or company chooses to do something they are not required to do. Priceline was willing to do that. Your hotel was not. So please don't tell me that my satisfaction is your highest priority, or offer me hollow expressions of sympathy about my family emergency. Your actions communicated your priorities much more clearly than those words ever could. And to Zane, Kim, or whichever manager ultimately made this decision: someday, when you're frustrated by how impersonal, uncaring, or profit-driven the world has become, I hope you remember this interaction. You were given an opportunity to make a human tragedy slightly easier for someone, at essentially no additional cost beyond surrendering revenue you were contractually entitled to collect. You chose not to. You made an already terrible day a little worse simply because you had the contractual right to do so. That was your choice. Please at least have the integrity to call it what it was.
Very quiet, clean rooms. Very helpful, friendly staff!
The breakfast was awful. The warmers do not keep the food warm enough, and most of it had very little taste. Next time, I would skip the breakfast.
We were there for the music festival and the location was perfect. Staff was friendly!
Our air conditioner leaked the entire time we were there (3 nights) and we let the front know multiple times. Left our room humid and the carpet and ceiling wet.
Good Location, Nice size rooms
Very poor Dinning options
Location to the event l was attending was the best part
It's a small complaint, but a complimentary bottle of water would always be appreciated.
Nothing one of the worst stays in my life
When it started to rain my room was raining with it it damaged my wife’s personal belongings and the ac didn’t work in any room they gave us, and to compensate for it all they did was try to give us free breakfast I wouldn’t recommend it to a homeless person

Nothing
The view of the river is beautiful! The hotel is close to lots of things. Walking around this downtown area feels very safe.
Parking is difficult. Valet parking available but expensive. The skywalk system that connects (maybe) to the venue we were attending was so confusing we ended up a little lost and asking directions on the street.
Hotel is conveniently located near the Grand Casino Arena. You have to use valet parking or walk 3 blocks and pay $25 each time. If you need a luggage cart you have to wait for the bell hop and you don’t stay with your luggage. The bellhop has a private elevator. There’s a quasi-fridge in our room. No microwave. Hotel seems clean but definitely has lots of wear and tear. Overall not impressed other than the location. Will only stay here again if I had to visit the arena again. But would definitely seek out other hotels first.
I liked that the location was extremely close to the venue I was visiting.
My room was mediocre not clean, the fridge was leaking, the windows were full of hand prints the sink and bathtub were both clogged. They did not have complimentary waters the Kruger machine did not work. My complaints to staff was backed up with apologies with no resolve or Plan B.
I am not sure that reviews actually lead to change in hotel practices. But I think it important that managers have some sense of what travelers experience in their hotels. I can say one positive thing about the IHSP: the bed was quite comfortable and the pillows perfect: supportive as well as flexible. Though I increased the room temp to 79 (!), I continued to experience cool to cold air coming through the vent directly facing the bed. In order to read, I needed to get under the bedcovers fully clothed. The telephone did not work. I had to call the hotel with my cellphone and, then, when automatically connected to the front desk, the VM said: "The VM is full and cannot receive any more messages." There was no way to contact the front desk. What would one do in an emergency? Someone convinced the hotel that nothing more than a foot length glass partition was needed in the shower causing much water to spray on to the bathroom floor, soaking the the bathmat and spreading throughout the bathroom floor. Let me note that I am a minimalist shower-taker: not someone who sprays water all over the place. I needed to use a second bathmat and a towel to soak up the water so that I would not slip on the bathroom floor. No hooks in the bathroom on which to hang one's clothing or bathrobe. They had been removed. The bathroom door handle was loose and had to be used carefully. Given the price I paid for a one night stay, I was surprised by the shoddiness of the room, the inability to use the hotel telephone, and a room temperature that was super chilled. Not staying here again.
The room was nice, clean and had everything i needed, except for tea.
That i had to pay an extra deposit up front when I had already spent over £600 for the stay,
Pleasant staff, great location..
Tired hotel, that has seen better days. Not worthy of the Intercontinental brand
Beautiful views, valet was amazing hotel was beautiful.
Outdated, no air conditioning, no air circulation, doors look like your in a prison
I liked that the location was convenient to navigate for the conference I was attending. It was easy to go to see seminars and then take a break in my room if I needed it.
Typically free breakfast is included at hotels this expensive, so that was kind of inconvenient. I wish there was a space for some of those types of things or at the very least vending machines.
Lovely riverfront location. The upgrade to a river view room helped. Excellent service from the front desk, restaurant and housekeeping staff.
Location was excellent. Staff were extremely friendly, but…so disorganized. The view from the room was awesome.
When we arrived there was no T.P. in the room. We called the desk. And waited. And waited. And waited. Finally had to go down to the desk and get some. The valet lost my car keys. And finally found them after some panic under a different tag than what I was given. Also. $40.00/night for parking, with no non-valet option. Hella spendy.
Very comfortable and nice views
Coffee pot did not work and no pool expect a pool
Price of food expensive
Buffet reasonable price and convenient location.
Hotel is under renovation necessary work around.
Satisfactory
Subject: Formal Complaint - Unsafe Room Conditions & Inadequate Management Response Stay Dates: March 14 -15, 2026 Room: 2120 - Executive / Club Member Reservation: 6130946001 Dear IHG Corporate Guest Relations, I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding both the unsafe condition of my room and the unacceptable response I received from hotel management during my recent stay at the InterContinental Saint Paul Riverfront.
Whoever checked me in was so kind and efficient!
Nothing absolutely horrible about the stay.
Location was perfect for events at Grand Casino Arena! Walking distance to bars/ restaurants. If you choose not to valet park, self parking is easy and close(half block away) and also connected to the hotel by skyway if yo don’t want to walk outside. Nice little cost savings as well💰 Room was quiet and bed was perfectly comfortable!
All was great even during a busy concert night
Location is nice. ..valet parking personnel were awesome!
When we entered our room- it was smelly musty and smelled like something was hot/burning.. we noticed a plug in hanging loose from the wall by the curtains and also the lamp on the desk was broken with part the broken sharp pieces still screwed into the shade. There were blood and gross stuff on the back of the curtains (kids saw while we were waiting on hold for the front desk. I didn’t get through to the front desk for 10 -15 mins - finally talked to an operator (who was lovely!) and she told us to come right down to the front. We did that and the front desk person (who checked us in) seemed inattentive and almost like he didn’t recognize that he just checked us in 20 mins ago. He gave us a new room and sent us on our way without seriously acknowledging our concern. I felt unheard and wish I just had of demanded a refund and gone to a different hotel. The new room was ok but this hotel is so outdated and not worth the money.
Never got my refund
Canceled on me and didn’t refund
The hotel is a bit removed from the main street where the restaurant hotspots are, but the area is still very walkable. It offers one of the best river views around, and the service throughout the stay has been consistently helpful. We’re here to watch the Wild play at the Xcel Energy Center, and it’s only about a 15‑minute walk from the hotel.
Everything location staff
Room was freezing
Great location. Staff was very nice. So good ratings there. But our room was very tiny. I have stayed at this facility many many times. And I’ve never had this small of a room. Also, we couldn’t call the front desk using the room phone. There was no cord to plug it into the wall. We had about a half of a roll of toilet paper. We asked for room service and the only thing we received was towels. We had two washcloths for two people for a whole weekend. We asked for a fan twice. Once we called the facility and ones at the front desk. Our room was very warm and the temperature was hard to adjust. As you can imagine, my girlfriend and I are around 60. So we do suffer from some hot flashes! There were a couple of other things too. Usually, we have a good experience at this hotel and stay there at least once or twice a year.
See above.
For one, the hotel canceled my reservation 1 day prior to me arriving! So you can throw out this review.
Location
Room floors dark and not inviting. Needs updating
Location was great and we had a beautiful view of the river from out room. Every employee was very friendly and helpful. Will stay again!
Only thing that would have been great would be free coffee in the lobby!
Area was perfect!
Nothing
Location to River Center was only a 10 min walk
$38/night for parking, expensive breakfast, bed was to soft, pillows are fluffy but flatten in 4 seconds. Probably won't stay there again. Rooms are small.
Staff were rude. Horrible communication and customer service.
There was no breakfast. Rooms were so moist, sheets felt damp.
I requested two rooms next to each other when I booked. The rooms we got weren't even on the same floor. When we checked in, I was told that they couldn't accommodate my request.
Beds were the best I have ever slept in.
The location (near the Mississippi River), the staff, and the room. Access to downtown amenities was mostly convenient, and the downtown area was charming during the week in the morning and afternoon hours
Pay to park at the hotel (a good deal and price, otherwise). The area immediately north of the hotel had some shady characters and a lot of homeless people on the streets; especially during the evening, weekend, and pre-dawn hours.
No breakfast but good location
The safe was broken
The staff were all friendly and helpful. I had a wonderful experience in St Paul.
Nothing
Mold
It was dirty, the sheets didn’t stay on the bed because they were so cheap, so we constantly woke up on an exposed mattress, and the air conditioning didn’t work. Also, they forced you to use valet to park, which was crazy expensive.
I didnt have the breakfast
Ice machines on multiple floors were empty. Everything else exceptional
We stayed in four rooms, for two nights. Check in was fairly smooth. We added credit cards for each room and explained who was paying for what. Front desk stated they completed it correctly. It was NOT. The front desk staff entirely dropped the ball on customer service. Room 1912: no heat, charged the wrong credit card despite having two separate cards authorized for payment and incidental hold. Added valet charges (this was corrected at check out) Room 1917: asked multiple times for crib, took over 6 hours to receive. Refrigerator stopped working, only offered a single glass of milk as compensation. Never had a maintenance staff repair or replace. Though hours after first request, they did offer to come in to swap it out: however it was during two babies nap times. Never offered again. Room 1918: requested crib. Never received Room 1201: blood stain on pillow. Sporadic heat. Almost no water pressure in shower. I have stayed here multiple times and never had this horrible an experience. Staff member Navaeh was very gracious. Shelby assisted in getting at least one crib. Kim was the rudest and most insincere “manager”.
Very nice restaurant - we enjoyed our breakfast.
Can't think of anything I didn't like.
The luxury feel and cleanliness of the rooms
I could hear the people in the adjoining room through the adjoining door
Hotel has pending charges on my card for almost a month now. They it's been released but it never is. The hotel and corporate have been zero help. So I still have $224 pending charges. My only option is to contact a lawyer.
Location, staff, and facilities
The room was dark, dingy, and in desperate need of some updates, paint, and furniture. I felt more comfortable in the bathroom, than the room. Bed was lopsided and well used, paint chips, cracks in walls and window sealing, dark paint and old carpeting. Very disappointing that it didn’t match the pictures as advertised.
The rooms were comfortable and very quiet. It was also within walking distance of the grand casino arena. Very easy access and staff were quite courteous
