Really liked this hotel. The customer service was beautiful. I can’t remember the last time I stayed in a hotel which such good customer service, and I stay in a lot of hotels. Room was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Nice ambience in the bar area and a lovely spa. Excellent hotel gym.
Very helpful and pleasant staff
We often come to this venue for our wedding anniversary as we did again on this occasion and as usual the everything, food, service, hospitality, the grounds exceptional that’s why we come here. This time we even had a surprise sat on our bed in the form of a card and miniature bottle gin to welcome us Boringdon Hall ticks all the boxes time after time
An odd mix. Must have spent huge amounts of capital on restoration and a wonderful spa. I can only imagine the financing needed. To make it work they are cutting serious corners with the spa not the hotel being the focus. Great food in restaurants, great spa, lovely to walk around. Breakfast solid. Service was very spotty. A lot of staff saying ‘I think’, ‘it might be’, ‘I dunno’. Seemed very very young, obviously not trained. Really not a 5 star hotel in any sense. The room - stayed in a suite. Was ok. Very small ‘king bed’. Black hairs on bath. Room service - a joke. Could only order a cheese or ham sandwich after 9.30. Had to persuade the gentleman on reception to do it. He was also clearing the bar, answering phone and making food. Said he needed to ‘rustle around’ for some ham. £14 each, could have bought better at a Tesco express. Charging - be careful. People in gas cars park in the charging spots. Only 3. Staff shrugged. Had to wait 24 hours to get a spot. The biggest issue was health and safety. Bit of a death trap. Entered our room, walked outside and the step collapsed. Previous reviewers have said the same. I fell flat. Stairs outside room have low ceiling with no mind your head sign. Smack almost knocked myself out. Told staff three times to put up a sign. Was still not there on departure. Again, spa fantastic, hotel nothing of note,
Stunning country castle style hotel. Rooms finished to a very high standard. Staff were wonderfully attentive, seemed genuinely pleased to help and proud of their establishment. Packed with history and a real oasis of peace and comfort. Afternoon tea and breakfast were delicious with a wide choice of options. I felt that the dinner option I had was a bit “nouveau cuisine”, lots on the plate but not much there. But what was there was very well prepared. Spa was very pleasant, although a bit of a shame that the steam room was out of order, as well as the lift to the spa. Will be staying again, it’s not cheap, but you pay for what you get.
Absolutely beautiful, the spa is incredible
Beautiful, quite, relaxing getaway
Spa is amazing. Rooms are okay.
Very helpful staff.
Lovely stay great place to unwind and relax and enjoy the hotel’s facilities
Excellent hotel, very attentive staff and a fantastic spa.
Beautiful hotel and Spa, very friendly staff, but let down by cold food
A nice property with an attractive spa facilities.
A wonderful hotel with very high standards. Excellent restaurants and attached spa. A peaceful retreat
The moment you walk through the front entrance you feel immediately relaxed and greeted by all staff which is really reassuring. Excellent front of house. Exceptional service.
Beautiful hotel and spar. Fantastic staff, gorgeous food.
A first class hotel and spa in a lovely location. It is wonderful to see a beautiful old building being made use of as a luxury hotel.
Lovely setting.
What a beautiful setting 😁 would definitely stay again
A very good experience just needed more time to fully appreciate the facilites.
Went to celebrate our engagement and the hotel staff were amazing. Made us feel extra special, we’re super kind and helpful. The hotel was stunning. Lots about the history and the modern upgrades (spa, facilities, etc) were well entangled.
We spent a lovley relaxing couple of days for our anniversary. Very pleasant and the spar was lovely
The hotel is top notch, service is perfection, only took away one star as the twin beds werent as comfortable as i expected, otherwise it was amazing, the spa is unreal
No table for diner available at all. Had to make a reservation for breakfast….. when they wanted me to have breakfast, not when I needed to have breakfast as I had an appointment to go to. Poor service, as a guest I had to work around the hotel…. At £600 per night…. It should be the other way around…
Not quite sure it meets 5 star standard. Room space is lovely, plush and beds super comfy. Bathroom quite basic but shampoo etc provided. Spa ok but could with refurb now as facilities dated. One if the steam rooms out of order. Large glass door smashed and awaiting repair. Loungers by pool were soggy and stank. Lifts up to the spa all out of order Breakfast was the highlight. Ok hotel but nothing special.
Great service from staff and great facilities. We especially enjoyed the spa and our very comfortable stable room on the upper floor of the hotel with lovely courtyard view. It was my birthday treat and Borringdon even had a card and miniature bottle of gin as a welcome gesture, which was much appreciated.
An another amazing stay!
Gorgeous hotel and spa
Beautiful spa and lovely surroundings. Only problem was buying a glass of wine cost £17 for a large glass of ordinary wine. I think these prices are significantly beyond what should be charged.
Amazing hotel and service
An exceptional place to stay. Well worth visiting.
The hotel is exceptionally clean and the rooms are very sepecious and furnished with top of the range furniture and high quality bath products. All the staff are hospital from the reception to house keeping.I have nothing to fault the staff and the hotel.
Spa was very lovely, our bed wasn’t the best for us but room was cozy. Unfortunately the afternoon tea gave me an upset tummy which wasn’t great but staff were very apologetic and gave a goodwill gesture which was appreciated. I would stay again for the spa and customer service.
Lovely hotel in a nice quiet location. Shame I wasn't there long enough to enjoy more of the facilities.
Beautiful place to stay with great staff
Great place to visit, lovely hotel and spa. Gave a 2 star rating as had an awful experience on last day. I have Coeliac disease and on my last day my supposedly gluten free breakfast was not. 2hrs into driving home had to stop off and throw up in a garden centre’s public loos. I’m still recovering from the event. Hotel comms post this has been poor, emailed them twice but did not even receive a response. Not what I would expect from a 5 star hotel.
We enjoyed a lovely quick stay over and a relaxing spa evening
Can’t fault it at all. Lexi was great
Room.was great, really spacious for a family, comfortable and fantastic bathroom products. Our issue was we were in ground floor room and an active family above us with bouncing feet into the early hours rattling the light fittings...resulting in a restless night sleep. Think about changing the light fittings or putting rubber gromits on fixing to reduce the rattling due to people above.
Superb Tudor Manor House with sympathetically added, good quality spa facilities.
I was there unfortunately because my husband was in Derriford hospital and had knew I would feel comfortable eating swimming etc.. on my own and very convenient for the hospital. The room was very nice, although a standard room very comfortable spacious and generous bathroom. The staff were outstanding, I couldn’t book dinner as I didn’t know when I would be back but was told they would hold a table until 8.45pm then I could have room service. I had to cancel breakfast 10mins before my booking as had to dash to the hospital and was told that it wasn’t a problem & was give a cup of tea to go. So considerate & understanding. Although I had been before for a spare break and enjoyed all the facilities and restaurants it was still nice to be somewhere that was friendly & comfortable for a very fraught visit.
Wonderful spa experience. Great welcome immaculate facilities and welcoming staff.
This is a very good hotel with excellent service, bedrooms, public rooms and dining
Amazing stay facilities excellent and staff also amazing
Excellent overnight stay with spa.
The hotel is a stunning building. Even the public areas feel luxurious and comfortable. The room was spacious and clean. Our dog had been provided with everything he needed and could be included in everything except the spa. The food was excellent and so was the service. The one negative was how busy the pool area was in the spa. There were far fewer loungers than guests making the experience not as enjoyable as it could have been. The drinks service at the pool was extremely slow which was surprising as all other service in the hotel was spot on.
A wonderful relaxing stay was had by my wife and I, celebrating her birthday
This was an unexpected and unique gem of a hotel Beautiful setting , comfortable rooms, exceptional dining and spa facilities and staff Nice place to stop between Cornwall and London Would love to go back if I ever get a chance!
Stunning!!!! Incredible history. Fabulous spa Lovely bar Impressive room
Very nice hotel with very comfortable room. Excellent spa facilities. Very relaxing stsy.
Staff incrediable spa very luxurious and modern well worth a visit
Lovely stay at Boringdon. Good value, especially for the excellent facilities.
Fantastic Spa and Bar - service at the spa was excellent. Couldn’t have wished for a better spa experience. Reception team were welcoming and helpful. The little luxuries in our room were much appreciated - excellent Voyager coffee, robes, flip flops etc I loved the Gaia hand and body lotion - smelled incredible
Extremely good service from all the staff. Tom was especially helpful when my wife lost a bracelet after her spa treatment. Completely took ownership and went above and beyond. We stay away in hotels 10-20 times a year and Tom's response was the best I have ever encountered.
The hotel is beautiful and service was brilliant. Our room was lovely and spacious. The spa is lovely and sauna and steam room are great, we stayed on a Friday in January and it was quite busy - couldn’t get a sun lounger at times. The prices for food and drinks are quite expensive but what you expect nowadays. We did have a pizza for £19 (which wasn’t that great but rectified by a member of staff). The breakfast was really nice. Will definitely be back.
The stunning view as you arrive. It has beautiful rooms, excellent food, amazing staff and fantastic facilities. A five star experience. We will be visiting again. 😊
Lovely hotel with loads of history. The staff were very friendly, the restaurant was lovely and Dimitri was really helpful. The facilities in the hotel was good.
Lovely building. Check-in was easy and nice to have mulled wine whilst sorting the admin. Clean beautiful modern room (luxury room booked). There was a group of us staying and we had slightly mixed room cleaning - one couple in next door room had chocolate gifts left on the pillow, we did not. Turn down service didn't close curtains. Just small things that would be easy to improve upon. They also print out a A5 card with the weather for the next 24hrs and some other information. To do this every day for every room seems very environmentally unfriendly and a waste of paper and ink. Lovely staff and food. Gym excellent with peleton bikes.
Great hotel, great spa & staff extremely professional and helpful.
On the first night we got stuck in the lift , it ruined our holiday , the room got messed up to and tried put us in another room and charged us alot more , I’m now suffering from stress and anxiety , the fire brigade had to come out , the m looking at taking legal action
It’s a 10 from me! Lovely big room and great spa. I did avoid the very expensive breakfast however
This was a last minute booking as a stopover before our ferry the next morning. We found the place on Hotels.com and were very pleased with the accomodation on our arrival. A beautiful historic hotel, quiet and relaxing. We travelled with our two dogs and were given a courtyard room that allow dogs. Room was very clean and comfortable. Dogs were provided with beds, bowls and some foodie treats. Hotel Restaurant food very good and the spa / pool area also good.
friendly helpful staff. Good restaurant
A beautiful hotel that is very well looked after!
The dining experience at Acleaf was exceptional.
Overall we enjoyed our stay but there were certainly a few things that made us feel like it didn't quite it the mark in terms of the 5* hotel experience that you might expect from a place like this where little details do matter, especially as we were celebrating our anniversary. Nothing was above and beyond in our opinion, we didn't get a feeling like it would be a special experience despite the occasion, so I'm not sure I'd recommend the hotel if you're looking to celebrate a notable occasion.
The suite was superb, the hotel was lovely. However, the general running of the hotel needs work. There were several things that were not great during our stay, and were not remedied. A few things broken/not working in the room. Room amenities listed a mini bar - this had nothing in it, and a safe - this was not working. This is a lovely hotel but does not live up to the 5 stars and for the cost of a suite, I would expect better service. With more care & attention, and more thought, it could be amazing.
Absolutely gorgeous stay, such a lovely building and setting. Spa facilities were really good and child free is a bonus for us! Would definitely recommend and stay again.
Loved this hotel - food, service and facilities all top notch. Will definitely return
Just class from first to last.
Everything was superb the spa is amazing the staff are really on the ball and care about your experience
Beautiful hotel in a wonderful setting with fantastic facilities and a top class spa. Nonetheless, for a hotel of this specification it is unusual not to have air conditioning in the rooms. During the backend of a heatwave, this does make sleeping uncomfortable. Also, the shower door in the room had been misfitted meaning that water flowed freely from under the shower door and onto the bathroom floor, a clear hazard. Finally, the extractor fan in the bathroom was very dusty and at one point when I turned on the light the extractor fan dropped all the dust all over my toiletries and the towels which was unpleasant. These issues are small points but I wouldn’t expect them from a 5 star hotel. On the whole, this is an excellent hotel. Service is wonderful, the restaurant is brilliant and the pool/leisure facilities are top class. Staff go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable, and I would definitely recommend this hotel and will stay again.
Thought that the hotel and the staff were fantastic. Beautiful mixture of historic and modern architecture, great facilities, loved the secret lounge and the staff couldn't have been more helpful.
Poor meal facilities. Had to eat a low quality meal in our room. Didn't chance a breakfast, won't be returning.
Services was amazing and the 9 course taster menu was one of the best things I've ever eaten. Great wine list too
Excellent experience all round
Amazing hotel with excellent food
Fabulous weekend away. Used the spa (lovely but quite busy). Good to be able to charge my EV. We ate at Acleaf - superb. A complete experience you won’t forget.
The perfect experience from the customer service to the facilities.
Super duper like a pooper scooper
Ok lets start with it being a really great hotel, staff were welcoming and room was huge clean and comfortable. However given the price point there is better value out there locally. Felt disappointed with the evening meal, portion sizes werent great and a 40 min wait on desert from order to table...the room we had must have been nezt to the watwr tank for the adjacent rooms as we had what sounded like a water feature from 7am...loud enough to wake a heavy sleeper... But as i started off, a truly great hotel and have been drawing comparison to some other Spa hitels in Devon.
Super hotel! Really lovely staff, excellent location and very nice hotel!
An amazing history about a fabulous place with wonderful facilities
Will go again, great place to stay and relax
Well worth the five star rating. The Spa is amazing.
staff were great, nice spa, and some nice touches ..
Great staff, great historical building, good quality They need to add more to their menu for evening meals Big car park Easy check in Attentive and well trained staff
Enjoyed everything about the hotel. Lovely building and room. Food was great, breakfast every morning was lovely. Spa facilities amazing and staff friendly
Absolutely stunning. Looks like a castle when you arrive. The staff are so friendly and lovely and the bar and restaurant realty nice. Very good food for vegetarians too
This was a one day stop over on our way to Cornwall. The room was well equipped but there were maintenance issues in the bathroom. The room itself was quite dark and small but the bed was comfortable. We stayed for two meals and the service was a little disappointing albeit polite. We chose the place from the list of hotels that have EV charging points. This hotel has two Tesla destination chargers (usable by most recent EVs). Unfortunately, one was not functional. It seems maintenance of facilities is done by reaction rather than pro-action! There are some nice walks in a forest just north of the hotel but access to these requires a hike along roads as there is a golf course in the way!
Five star service throughout the whole stayCannot wait to return for another celebration
this is probably the best hotel in the UK if not the World !! Fantastic spa and evening a secret room that shows any live football...... Staff are the best in the Business. highly recommend !
Convenient, historic, loved the breakfast, and dinner was excellent too.
Very uncomfortable beds and pillows
Amazing stay at a beautiful place. Only let down was service at breakfast on the last day and a mistake with our bill.Amazing spa and wonderful old building
We very much enjoyed an overnight stay at Boringdon hall, the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, the small touches such as welcome drinks, fudge with turn down service and drinks and biscuits on departure were a nice touch. The spa was lovely and relaxing exactly what we needed! However we was disappointed that we could not use the outdoor hot tubs, having been informed these can only be used if privately rented at an additional cost something that is not specified on the advertisement when booking and something we was looking forward to.
This is the best hotel I have stayed in for years. And I stay in about 100 or more a year. The rooms and buildings a great but the spa is fantastic. Out of this world. I couldn’t spend enough time enjoying the various pools and rooms. The staff a amazing, such attention to detail, such helpfulness, great knowledge of the hotel itself but also of the art of hospitality and all combined with appropriate respectfulness and discretion. Truly worth every one of its 5 stars and the. Some. Don’t even consider another hotel in or around Plymouth.
Beautiful old Elizabethan mansion that presents immaculately and gives you a real sense of history. Fantastic service - nothing is too much for all the staff. I will be returning.
Beautiful place, Spa is absolutely stunning, however changing rooms were not very tidy, towels everywhere, could do with checking regularly. Food in Mayflower was only average as my burger was extremely salty. However could of been unfortunate on this occasion. Would definitely give it another go as the staff are very friendly and place is stunning
We had an amazing stay at Borington a one night spa break with another couple. staff are extremely attentive friendly and very well-trained without being robotic, The evening meal was outstanding, We were lucky enough to be there when a new menu was being introduced so we had lots of delicious extras. My only complaint would be the breakfast was very disappointing avocado and eggs on toast the avocado was grey and not at all fresh and shouldn’t have been served. but on balance I wonderful experience at Borrington.
