There was plenty of parking. The room was very spacious and clean. Any interaction with hotel staff was amazing; they were all very, very kind and helpful.

The location

The room above us were very noisy and made it difficult to sleep which is why we left a day early. The beds were not the best, the sofa bed was very uncomfortable, needs a better mattress. Fridge needs to be on a table or something similar, not ideal on the floor.

I ordered the champagne package for my husbands birthday. It was supposed to be champagne, chocolates, towel art and rose petals for £70. What we got was Prosecco, a small amount of confetti round the ice bucket and 2 small square chocolates. I think it needs to be priced accordingly and maybe add a box of chocolates.

Its hard to say, perhaps the location.

Nothing much. The room was awful, there was no aircon for most of Friday and Friday night so we slept in a cold room with low air ventilation. The room could have been a little cleaner, the dust was visible on the tables. The pillows and quilt were like sleeping in plastic, they were awful and not comfortable at all. We stayed for two nights for a relaxed weekend but ended up tossing and turning and not sleeping because they were uncomfortable. The following morning, the bed was done as the sheets were just tucked and wasn’t neatly made. There was no water to drink so if you wanted tea or coffee you have to use the bathroom tap. The following day bathroom sink and toilet was clean, the shower tray was just rinsed. The hotel receptionist could have been helpful and warmer. Everything was a no, and no solution We ordered a dinner room service, the pasta we ordered was covered in cheese, there was no mention or cheese in the ingredients. I have a dairy allergy so couldn’t eat it at all. The hotel should consider looking at diverse menu, vegans are expected to eat Salad only!!

Excellent choices at breakfast, very comfortable bed and room. Cleaning staff very professional, in both their manner and work. Ease of walking to room and other areas, without always having to negotiate stairways.

Being charged £5.00 per night for parking! Shower fluctuated and pulsed every so often, to almost a 'scald' before returning to the normal set temperature. No mini 'fridge in room. Very poor service at evening meal - on two evenings we sat around waiting for service, whereas on both occasions I had to find/summon someone. Dirty tiles/grouting in the Steam Room and scum in the Hydrotherapy Pool - general dirty feel about the whole pool area. Hotel could do with a complete clean up, new carpeting and a paint job.

Staff were very slow. Evening meal was extremely slow and we had to ask to be served twice. They also forgot our wine order but after we chased it they didn’t hesitate in taking them off the bill. Broccoli was cold. Not as good a meal as last time we stayed.

We arrived a lot later than we had hoped so we didn't get to experience all of the facilities available, however, it is a beautiful hotel, immaculately clean and the staff were fantastic. Would 100% stay again.

Empty tray of food outside our door on arrival, I had to ask for it to be taken away after a couple of hours. Had to ask for non slip shower mat.

Spa

No lifts, not very welcoming staff on reception. Gave us the smallest room in the building. Bathroom was same size as a wardrobe. When we asked for different room then first answer was from staff that we can upgrade for one night but you are staying for three nights. It’s fully booked. After few minutes suddenly she gave us different room. On cleaning no one changed our bedding or towels for three days. No water bottles refilled no coffee tea or sugar been filled for 2 nights. Good 10 min drive to the town. So I won’t stay here again.

A high quality hotel with very comfortable rooms. The bar area and restaurant were very cosy with a good choice of food, and the breakfast was spacious, calm and offered a good buffet. The staff were all friendly and competent. No hesitation in recommending.

I was in room 335 and its opposite a fire door which was always open and smokers gathered there.

Great facilities with the indoor pool being a bonus, the rooms are clean, spacious and well equipped with Air con and a full size iron and ironing board.

Unfortunately, the restaurant ran out of blue cheese for my Burger, other than that the food was really good. Outside seating on the bar terrace was a bit limited

The pool was lovely with the spa bath, sauna and steam room. The gym looked good too with plenty of equipment.

Had a great stay here at the Hilton in Cheltenham. Service was excellent and Room was very comfortable. David who met us for Breakfast was a wonderful host and made us feel very welcome. Thank you David.

Security—doors open to outside, bad restaurant prices vs quality. Must carry your luggage up and down stairs vs lift. No ice. Good parking. Advertising makes it look like it is on a big lake vs small pond, advertising really amps it up vs reality, but it is a medium place. Great yoga class Sunday!!

The staff were friendly. The breakfast room service delivery staff were excellent, as was the waitress who served us in the restaurant. The check in receptionist was friendly also.

The toilet in the room was too high off the ground - hurting my hip when I used it. The bathroom mirrors were too high on the wall to be of use also. On the hottest day of the year the hotel had some kind of plumbing accident, which meant the water was shut off for many hours. We had not yet been able to shower, not could we access any water in our room to wash our hands etc. We requested that someone let us know when the water was on again, but no one ever told us and we simply had to keep checking constantly. It wasnt until after 3 pm when there was enough water (and it was warm enough) for a shower.

Localities was excellent and ease of parking. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Magnificent foyer and staff very friendly and helpful. The spa was excellent for treatments especially the massage.

We were underwhelmed by our room. 119. It was extremely small with very little cupboard storage and there were no proper chairs. In addition a fridge would have been most welcome especially in this heat. Finally, the fittings in the room were somewhat tatty and dated. We felt that the room detracted from our stay and was not good value for money. I all other respects the hotel was very pleasant.

The breakfast buffet was nice and had a large selection of food. The staff were all very attentive and polite. The room we had (king guest room) was spacious. Other communal spaces of the hotel like the reception and bar/restaurant were kept very clean. Despite the front of the hotel being on a main road, it was still a peaceful environment.

The view outside our room window was a brick wall with 3 vents/extractors directly in front (which made a humming noise continuously). We contemplated asking to change rooms as the view was an eyesore and its was very dark since there was barely any natural light, but ultimately decided we were only there for a few nights and wouldn’t be in the room a lot anyways. We appreciate we didn’t book a room with a view but no paying customer should be given something this subpar. Wouldn’t surprise me if the hotel staff get lots of complaints about this room and guests requesting to be moved. The room should be used as something else such as a storage room or staff room - I cannot understand why they think customers will be pleased with staying there after paying lots of money. The TV in the room was also not a smart TV, so streaming sights like Netflix, Prime Video, etc could not be accessed which was a shame. We had dinner in the hotel’s restaurant Herbert’s one night, the service was great but the food was very overpriced for the quality. The overall look of the hotel was slightly worn down and could do with a few upgrades.

Room was good lovely with air conditioning but without lifts we weren’t prepared but were offered help if required. Breakfast was delicious and the welcome cookie was a treat! Staff all very friendly. The pool was a bit disappointing as cramped changing rooms and jaquizzi area but was refreshing having a swim on a very hot evening. Our evening meal was delicious too!

Poor reception staff. Hygiene in the breakfast room was appalling. We booked a king room which turned out to be on the lower ground floor facing a brick wall which made the room dark and sombre looking. Not the best when we were there to celebrate a special event.

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Not What I Expect From Hilton I had an extremely disappointing experience at this hotel. I have stayed at many Hilton properties around the world, and unfortunately, this was by far one of the worst experiences I’ve had. Considering the amount of money I paid, both the service and the room were well below the standard I would expect from Hilton. Even basic amenities were missing from the room — there was no dental kit or even a bathrobe. What upset me most was the birthday package I paid extra for to surprise my husband. I clearly informed reception that we were arriving on the 7th and that his birthday was on the 8th. Despite this, the birthday banner was put up on the 7th, completely ruining the surprise I had planned for him. To make matters worse, the decoration itself was extremely poor. The banner looked cheap and badly wrinkled/shrivelled, and there was barely any decoration at all. The package was also supposed to include a cake platter, but what we received was nothing close to what I expected — just two macarons and one small dessert. There was no actual birthday cake for us to cut. I genuinely do not understand what I paid the extra £15 for. It felt like a complete waste of money. The service at reception did not improve the experience either. The receptionist came across as cold and unwelcoming, with very little friendliness or warmth during our interactions. When you are staying at a Hilton and paying Hilton prices, you expect a certain level of hospitality, and unfortunately that was completely missing here. Overall, the room was below average, the service was below average, and the birthday surprise I paid extra for was handled so poorly that it actually ruined what was supposed to be a special moment. I left feeling extremely disappointed and regretting the money I spent on this stay.

A huge bed!!! Oh my God, it was my dream to spend night sleeping on a huge 180cm width bed!

I liked pretty much everything

All the staff were incredibly polite and friendly. The bed was comfortable and room was lovely with a lake view. We were upgraded which was amazing. Having skipped lunch we loved the warm cookie on arrival. Lovely modern bathroom and spacious shower. The food was also delicious both in the evening and breakfast was a lovely selection.

If I was being really picky, the pillows weren't very comfortable which was a bit disappointing as the bed was lovely. Breakfast was very busy and there were no glasses for juice at one point. There were quite a few sets of stairs to get from reception-restaurant-health suite-room etc. which was a bit challenging for my knees.

The controls for the bath/shower were odd - I had a bath but filled it with the tap and the shower at the same time as I couldn't work out how to separate them. No bother, but not simple to use.

Location just on the outskirts of Cheltenham and lovely views looking out over the terrace. Couldn’t hear road traffic during the day and night.

Horrible cigarette/tobacco smell as soon as you reach the top of the grand staircase. Same along the corridor and in our room. All of our clothes in our suitcase smelt of grotty, despite neither one of us smoking and only staying one night. There were little directions pointing you where to go. Also didn’t like the fact there was no lift, especially as we were located on the top floor and had to walk a steep stairway.

Free cookie was so delicious!!! The views are stunning from the breakfast area and so many small details in the hotel make it exceptional

The breakfast wasn’t great especially if you suffer from allergies. The staff were uneducated and lacked basic knowledge. The pillows on the bed looked great until you put your head on them.

My wife and I booked a luxury spa package at the DoubleTree by Hilton Cheltenham for our wedding anniversary, but the stay was ruined by severe operational failures and complete neglect. Despite purchasing a full package online, we were told prior to arrival that the spa was overbooked, and after hours of poor communication, we were forced to forfeit the central feature of our break. Upon arrival, the hotel's main grounds were blocked off due to an undisclosed private wedding, restricting us to an unkempt terrace littered with full ashtrays, dead plants, and broken sun umbrellas—one of which actually blew over and struck another guest. Faced with spending our anniversary looking over a gravel roof on a dangerous, neglected patio, we chose to leave; while the duty manager, Olivia, was apologetic and processed a full refund, it does not make up for a 2.5-hour drive, wasted time off work, and a completely ruined special occasion.

I met a friend and we stayed overnight in the Hilton. Our room was spotlessly clean, the beds were comfortable and the shower was boiling hot! No complaints. The swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna were great, no issues. The only drawback to our stay was when both my friend and I ordered a chicken dish for our dinner. Although, it came with two sides and a sauce of your choice, it was very disappointing. Unfortunately, I felt as if I had ordered a sparrow, as opposed to a chicken!!Our waiter Ben was amazing, he was very understanding and empathetic. I would like to say a huge thank you to both him and his colleague Bella, who was also very kind and sympathetic! The issue was resolved and it all ended very well. On a positive note, I would definitely recommend the pizza. (Garden one) We are this at lunchtime.

Paying for parking even though there was nothing around to warrant parking charges. No lift had to carry luggage up curving staircase. Bathroom smallest ever been in and not clean - dead moths, dust & mould. Nowhere to put anything in bathroom. TV unwatchable in bed and not on swivel arm to be able to turn it around to watch it.

The hotel had a calm and relaxing atmosphere, and the lobby was beautiful. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice, and the staff at breakfast were all very friendly. The housekeeping staff were also extremely helpful and quickly replaced our duvet when we reported a damp smell.

We were assigned a family room at the very end of the lowest floor. Although the receptionist explained that it was the only family room available, it was by far the furthest room from reception that we’ve ever stayed in. We had to go down two flights of stairs with no lift access, which was very inconvenient, especially for a family. Had we known the room would be located there, we probably wouldn’t have booked this hotel. The room also felt quite damp when we arrived, and the duvet had a musty smell, so we requested a replacement immediately. The bathroom had poor ventilation, and the room had neither a telephone nor a fridge. Housekeeping kindly brought us a fridge after we asked, although we never received the telephone that was promised. In the evening we noticed there was no complimentary bottled water in our room. When we called reception, we were told that the hotel does not provide bottled water and that tap water was sufficient. However, my parents, who were staying in another room at the same hotel, had bottled water, a telephone and everything else already provided. This left us confused, as the information we received did not match our experience.

Good location. 10 mins from central town outside of town location have to pay for parking £5 overnight even if you’re a guest and nothing really around? Staff ok not overly helpful or friendly. No lift. Had to carry luggage up winding staircase. Room ok. Tiniest bathroom I’ve ever stayed in and not very clean mould on tiles top left corner of shower cubicle and dead moths & dirt on outside of shower cubicle in between shower and sink easy to spot. I don’t go looking for it like some reviewers do! Hung wash bag on back of door and hook came out of the door. If you hang anything on the back of the shower room door you can’t open the door up fully. Nowhere to put anything in the bathroom other than on top of toilet where towels are. Can’t watch TV in bed as in corner of the room on opposite wall and not on a pull out wall bracket so can’t see TV at such an angle. Bed comfortable would have preferred options of pillows other than the 1. Wouldn’t stay again. Expensive for what it is. Could do with a refresh and good clean.

The hotel is extremely old, and sometimes the staff wasnt perfectly honest. They wont give free water bottles, you have to pay 4 pounds per bottle. There are no elevators and no one to help with luggage.
