Garner Hotel Lincoln by IHG

Very run down and tired hotel. I reported several issues to the staff who just said they are getting regular complaints. Apparently the hotel is due to change hands and awaiting a refurb. However the hotel is still in the hands of ibis which reflects on their standards. Unfortunately the standards are very low for the money paid. I will be contacting the head office for an explanation as to why the standards have slipped so much.

Check in was amazing, and the room was great. Nice and clean, with a comfortable bed and plenty of room.

It was hot! It can't be helped with the weather on the day, but there was no real way of cooling the room.

The Hotel room was clean and the bedding and towels also clean. All the facilities which we needed were available.

The room was so noisy we could not sleep. There were load voices and music inside the Hotel. In the end we got up at 03.30 am and checked out.

Room no air-conditioning although supplied with fan still nights a little uncomfortable In all the price paid for our 6 night stay was responsible would have expected more if we paid a higher price. Location for my stay just right . Regards MP

Sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal. Hundefreundlich, besonders im Frühstücksbereich. Gut erreichbar von der Autobahn aus.

Hotel ist insgesamt sehr in die Jahre gekommen, aber für die Durchfahrt für eine Nacht passabel.

The room was acceptably clean although there was not a bin oin the room, which I find inconvenient. The staff are pleasant and the standard of the breakfast is high.

The location was ideal for our visit and the bed was comfortable.

Nearby traffic was very noisy and there were cars racing in the car park. Some people staying in the hotel were not considerate in voice volume when going to their rooms at 2.45am.

The staff were excellent, room very clean.

On arrival i waited 20mins to speak to a receptionist!!! I pressed the buzzer 4 times!!! In the end I foned the hotel and within 10 seconds 3 people ran from behind a closed door!!!!!!!!!! The shower also had a problem with the cold water tap so the shower was very hot !!! Rm306 lastly no Air-conditioning nor even a fan. Sorry but the last time I will use Ibis !!!

Outdated rooms, smelly carpets in hallways, no soundproofing, coffee machine at breakfast was broken so you had to pay £3.00 for it separately.

Good location and parking for the motorbikes.

The room was dirty, holes in the sheets. Hairdryer was broken. Asked for a hairdryer at 5pm, got it st 10pm and the wiring was dangerous. We struggled to get the light to work, and then it wouldn't switch off.

The noise levels until 1pm. And so much managing. I went to rest and did. It rest at all.

Decor in room was tired, curtains torn. Light switch by the bed was well worn and sometimes difficult to operate.

you need to sort out the fire doors and the room doors as doors banging every few minutes particularly when your room is right next to a corridor door, put me on edge a bit, also room window did not lock on the outside, which again made the room feel a bit insecure, as there was a roof outside the window.

Each Ibis being much the same of another is reassuring as guests know the standards which they will find.

One pillow per person. One towel per person. One tea bag per person. Room spartan, absolutely no frills - not even rubbish bin in bedroom. Not value for money. Bar badly stocked. Cafe talked about in advertising non existent. Banging of doors late at night as revellers returned.

Bed and pillow not comfortable, motorway traffic sounds all through night. No fan provided and nights unbearable hot, even with windows opened and traffic noise from motorway.Bed not comfortable, pilow so old and flat, my neck still aches. Arrived at the hotel to a warm friendly welcome. The hotel is not near the centre of Lincoln but we were able to get off the train in North Hykeham and walk 30 mins or so from the station there. We stayed here as were attending a concert at the castle that night. The hotel is in a quiet location, with a Costa Coffee and KFC nearby. We made our way to our twin room (216)… the room was large enough for the two of us, it was clean and orderly but quite warm. There wasn’t any A/C but we did have a window that opened - the first time in an Ibis that didn’t have A/C… the open window wasn’t quite enough to cool the room down (as it was late June on a very hot day and night). The beds were very comfy but the pillows were not adequate, as far too soft. There was only one spare pillow which I used and it didn’t really make any difference as that was too soft too. The only bin in the room was in the bathroom next to the toilet. The tea tray was ok. The room was generally quiet throughout the night considering it was near to the lift. The breakfast was plentiful and warm. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it.

For the price I paid this was not value for money. My room was spartan and basic. One pillow per person, one towel per person - and one tea bag per person - although I was told more tea bags were available from reception. Absolutely no frills in the room. At the bar - where there was no one else - had a Pinot Grigio - on asking for a second one was told there was no more! The blurb talks about an on site restaurant - no sign of that either, no one eating, the receptionist weakly said that they hadn’t put the menus out yet - at 7.30pm on a Saturday evening? - it clearly wasn’t going to happen (so I went elsewhere for food). The only good thing was the breakfast. All in all not a good experience.

Handy location for Lincoln City. Staff were very efficient and friendly.. Reasonable breakfast for £10.. Room was imo on the expensive side for nearly £100 for 1 night...

No chain hotel should be charging more than £60 a night for a room imo

The only thing I would raise that the rooms have no air conditioning and can get very warm at night everything else room breakfast and bed are excellent.

Room was spacious and beds were comfortable. Free parking is convenient.

Ability of staff to deal with the problems.

Had terrible difficulty with the taps to wash hand basin. On two occasions we were unable to turn off the hot water tap therefore had no cold water to clean our teeth. The staff member did supply us with 2 bottles of cold drinking water until the problem was fixed. The same problem occurred on our final morning . We were in room 203

Stay here Thurs -mon last week , plenty of parking spaces & young man that checked us in was pleasant .they hotel is in need of upgrading & the bedroom was the same , beds were terrible really uncomfortable . Bathroom was fine though the shower really needs a grab handle to hold when you step from shower as the floor of the shower can feel slippy .we reported tv to 3 people & none of them helped until a young male member of staff asked us how we were & we said about the tv & he can writhing 5 mins & got it working , he deserves a mention but we never got his name . We never ate there so no comment on food . People coming in early hours talking & knocking doors were very annoying & night staff must have heard it & really could have came to the first floor & stopped it . If you are coming here can’t expect luxury for what they charge but a comfortable bed is a must

Lovely hotel room spotless staff were there whenever you needed them nothing was to much trouble got us an iron and ironing board we had breakfast in hotel it was excellent everything you needed full English breakfast yogurt cereal toast fruit would definitely go back to this hotel again x

Room wasn’t very clean and was it stuffy and hot. The cold tap leaked and flooded bathroom surfaces when running. Worst of all shower was broken and wouldn’t turn down so was unusable as the water was boiling and far too hot to stand under without getting burnt.

Exactly what I expected. Was clean just old and broken. Hair dryer a massive bonus and the shower was really nice. Bed a bit hard but pillows where lush. Brekky was great and had Adams Family on and then Adams Family 2 the next day!!! Staff where all super nice and chatty.

both bedside lights fell off the wall which was funny at the time but kinda grim. Every door shut with the force of 1000 suns, literally every door, idk why there is no sound dampening or softer door pulls? Somebody got stuck in their bathroom cause their door got stuck and the firemen had to break it down at like 11pm, my bathroom door didn't even close.

I had a terrible experience here, i was stuck in the toilet for an hour, couldn't open the door because the door was so old and it was stuck, the staff tried to open the door but couldn't they had to call the rescue team. luckily i was with my friend at the time and ran to call the staff, imagine if you were in a room and couldn't call anyone how bad it would be. and the staff were uncooperative when i went down to talk to them, it was terrible

No aircon. No fan. Window barely opened. Was like sleeping in a sauna.

The breakfast was very good.

Please don't put Pepper in the mushrooms! Not everyone likes it. You can always add it but you can't take it out of you don't like it!

It does need the decor and carpets refreshing, we’ve been coming in June for a few years.

Room smelled of pee, room got really hot, room was gross, curtain falling off the railing, carpet very worn, very very basic furniture which is super dated.
