A most beautiful hotel which has kept its charm Lovely rooms Comfortable beds Bar area and lounge peaceful and relaxing Bar tender very attentive and helpful

Absolutely nothing

Very convenient from the train station and near all the amenities. Our room was extremely spacious, bathroom as well.

The only thing for me personally was the hairdryer but that’s minor

It’s a fine old hotel in a great location and appears well looked after with sufficient staff. The bed was comfortable and the facilities adequate. Big rooms and bathroom with a bath and a separate shower cubicle with good water flow.

The bathroom sink didn’t have a plug hole guard and my toothpaste tub top rolled in to the drain. I could see a few other things in the drain hole so I was not the first and it might have been something more important that I needed to get back. The room has moths which is likely to be widespread and I think they need to get in pest control. This last fact will stop me going back.

Had no sleep, as it’s next to Birmingham New Street station all I heard was trains, train announcements, a fight in the street - there was no noise reduction at all through the windows, checked out at 6am as couldn’t sleep so disappointed. Guys on reception when left didn’t ask me how my stay was, so I told him the challenges I had and he didn’t say sorry and tried to provide any solution.

Excellant location. Right in the heart of the city centre. A few minutes walk from the station, local theatres, and good choice restaurants and bars. We didnt use the hotel bar or restaurant in the evening as we were going to the theatre. For breakfast there was a good choice of cereals, bread, fruit, yogurt, pastries which you helped yourself to. Tea and coffee was also self service from a machine. Cooked breakfast was cooked to order

They had run out of orange juice from the machine and didnt have any hash browns. Not good for that class of hotel (there's a supermarket over the road for emergencies) no other problems. Would stay again

We had a really good stay in Birmingham and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. I would especially like to give credit to Mini for her exceptional help and support. She was incredibly friendly, kind, and supportive throughout our stay. She kindly helped us with our luggage and also gave us some useful guidance and recommendations about the city.

A little bit of noise from the train station opposite, but it’s a great central location. The hotel had earplugs available. The in room dining wasn’t great.

I had the large breakfast on the first day because I wanted the black pudding for 6 pounds extra. On the second day, I had the regular breakfast (no surcharg) and, apart from one slice of black pudding, was exactly like the large breakfast. I assumed the large breakfast was a larger portion overall

The hotel looked very nice on arrival, although in places including the room itself it looked dated. The room was large. the bed was very comfortable The reception staff member on our second day was very pleasant.

The reception staff on arrival hardly acknowledged us, we had booked in for our wedding anniversary, not even a Hello by the first two reception staff, No welcome at all, no explaining breakfast location or anything else, the man actually one even got stroppy with me when asked about the charges on the bill. The air conditioning was not working correctly in the room, there are no room phones to contact reception instead you click a QR code which gives an outside number to call ! I sent a message via booking.com instead, you would expect this at a budget hotel Next morning we spoke to reception and was told they have no maintenance staff at the weekend, The TV remote didn't work, the towel rail in the bathroom didn't work, and the sink in the bathroom has a long crack. No toilet brush, ironing board is very stiff to open. Breakfast on the first morning, no orange juice, no hash browns, very bland potato cake, no plates to carry toast back to the table. The lift doors need attention as they do not open smoothly and shut far too quickly when entering, if someone is getting out before you enter the doors close on you, timing needs adjusting. For the price we paid for two nights at a four star hotel in a suite you would expect the room issues to be picked up by housekeeping before our arrival. As for the unwelcoming reception staff that is down to poor management and customer service training. We stopped at the Easyhotel the night before and the reception staff were so professional and friendly, maybe your staff should spend a night there. We would not return to the hotel.

Great location just opposite New Street Station. The place is full of character, making it feel very special. Very comfortable bed and practical bathroom with plenty of room for toiletry bags.

It was a shame that there was no view from the room, with the lower part of the window being covered in what looked like frosted plastic. The lift up from ground level on the station side was dirty and smelt bad. I know this is not part of the hotel, but it didn't give the best impression on arrival. Better to walk round and use the main arcade entrance from New Street

The location is perfect for city centre rail travel.

Lunch menu a little meat heavy and limited in choice. This meant we went elsewhere.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The ensuite room was a good size and in a very convenient location, close to Birmingham New Street station.

The kettle had remnants of egg in it where a guest had used it presumably to cook inside. I did not wish to use it so I had to go down early for breakfast to have coffee.

The room was too cold. The UK had just had a major heatwave and the airconditioning level was probably fine for a UK resident, but not for a California resident. The temperature could not be adjusted. The only was of cutting off the airconditioning was to remove the key card.

THE WINDOWS - unfortunately the external windows are in desperate need of a clean, it was actually off putting- also a section of the bar was being repainted (windows in prime season) was off putting and it stopped me dining in the bar

Excellent location for train station, which is why I booked. I had an early flight and a 1 minutes walk to the station is fantastic. But it's also right in the centre of Birmingham so great for that too. The hotel is a lovely old Victorian building, the room was good, bed very comfy and shower good.. I liked the 24 how reception; especially getting up at 5.30 to leave. it was nice that they're was someone there .Everyone very helpful and friendly..

The only thing I didn't appreciate was that you can't change the AC setting. It was set at 20 and I was freezing but then it was too warm just to have it turned off. So i kept alternating between off and on:. Not great at all especially in the night!

Dated property. Rooms updated but showing signs of wear or rushed update. Breakfast was part self service continental and cooked. Irritating that basic breakfast and add ons for certain items- ludicrous just price the breakfast properly let the guest decide. Whoever serviced the room left a window open and the covered it with the curtain so it was not seen. Spent the night serenaded by the drumming noise of the hotel plumbing/ air condition as we could not close the window physically. Reported it on check out, receptionist tried to put the onus on us for not noticing it. (I wish I could see through black out curtains )and as we could not close it we should have called the reception through the complicated access process( no direct phone in the room) at 1am in the morning? Not going to happen.

The rooms were large and comfortable, including the bathroom, the staff were professional and easy to talk to, nothing was to much trouble.

You could hear the trains at times, however it wasn't too noisy.

Beautiful old hotel full of character and charm. The front of house staff were welcoming and informative. Everywhere was clean and breakfast was tasty.

The lower steps to the hotel entrance opposite the train Station stunk of urine but that was of no fault of the hotel, just its location

The location was great, just a very short walk from the Bull Ring and New Street Station. The hotel staff were friendly and the room was a nice size.

The air conditioning did not work. We had just had an extremely hot heatwave and this resulted in the room feeling like a sauna. The hotel provided a fan, but this was not adequate. It was far too hot to sleep comfortably and I would definitely not stay at this hotel again during the summer months.

Rooms were a good size.

Noise levels from the street outside led to a bad night's sleep, as we were there two nights we got moved to another room and complaint was dealt with quickly. Very small amounts of milk, tea and coffee supplied, which considering the room price and standard of hotel was disappointing

I was given an upgrade offer for a deluxe room with 2 beds and paid a total of 125 pounds for the 5 nights I stayed in, but the reality did not reflect that as I was provided only 1 bed instead of what was shown in the picture, I wish to ask for a refund for the 125 pounds I paid for the upgrade

Hotel ze stylowym wnętrzem. Bardzo dobre śniadania. Świetna lokalizacja blisko centrum i stacji kolejowej. Bardzo miła i pomocna obsługa.

Vorrei segnalare alcuni aspetti che, purtroppo, hanno influito negativamente sul comfort durante il mio soggiorno. L’aria condizionata in camera non funzionava e, al momento del check-in, questo problema non mi è stato comunicato dalla reception. Come soluzione alternativa mi è stato fornito un ventilatore, che tuttavia non poteva compensare adeguatamente l’assenza dell’aria condizionata. Inoltre, lo scarico del WC non funzionava correttamente e non aveva una potenza sufficiente, rendendo necessario utilizzarlo più volte per ottenere uno scarico completo. Un ulteriore disagio è stato causato dalla presenza di numerosi piccioni proprio vicino alla finestra della camera. Il rumore era praticamente continuo e la sporcizia lasciata dagli animali provocava anche un odore sgradevole. Comprendo che possano verificarsi degli inconvenienti, tuttavia ritengo che questi aspetti dovrebbero essere verificati e risolti per garantire agli ospiti un livello di comfort adeguato.

Das Hotel ist sehr zentral gelegen. Man kann eigentlich alles zu Fuss machen oder hat Tram, Zug und Bus in unmittelbarer Nähe! Auch vom Flughafen in nur gut 30 Min. erreichbar, was mit dem Taxi (im Abendverkehr) länger wäre…

Es wäre schön, wenn das Bett grösser wäre. Nicht nur französisches Doppelbett.

Vanhahtava mutta tyylikäs sviitti. Iso ja mukavaa sänky. Ottaen huomioon missä ollaan, hyvä aamiainen. Tosin turhauttavaa jonottaa yhdelle ainoalle hitaalle kahvikoneelle.

Ilmastointi ei toiminut, ulkona 30-35°. Neuvottelu tästä henkilökunnan kanssa ei mennyt ihan toivotusti mutta lopputulos kuitenkin aika hyvä.

We were told that there was no alternative on the 1st night but were provided alternative on the second night. 1st night experience was very unsatisfactory in particular when we had paid £523 (without breakfast) for 2 nights.

Very central being just opposite New Street Station. Enjoyed a historic hotel made ready for 21 st century. Comfortable, sizeable room.

On arrival the male member of staff on reception was very unfriendly and not at all welcoming. I noticed straight away that the glass on the entry doors was very dirty with fingerprints. The building is tired and in need of some redecorating. The room was very stuffy and decorative top cover on the bed was stained. For a 4 star hotel it lacked things like complimentary water in the room phone charging points and body lotion and air conditioning . The safe was faulty and the maintenance team was required. There was a queue at breakfast which took a while to obtain a table and an ordering service for cooked items which took around 15 minutes to arrive the member of staff serving did not communicate in any way just put the plate down and walked off. I wanted to request condiments which were not readily available. Worst of all this was a senior staff member. I do not think this hotel is a 4 star rating and not value for money

The room was extremely hot and the aircon didn't work The bed and mattress were lumpy The door to my room didn't shut properly - thankfully there was a chain on the door. The whole place is very tired and the common areas looked very shabby and looked dirty. My gluten free toast for breakfast was stale

The room was excessively noisy and I could hear trains and announcements late into the night and early morning. I also feel that providing a bible in the room, old testimant and all, makes many people, including me, deeply uncomfortable and not welcome at this hotel.

Excellent location right beside the train station. Walking distance to the bull ring shopping centre. !5 min train ride from Cadbury world.

Minnie was extremely helpful as we had a birthday so did up the room very quick and was lovely. The upgraded room was perfect too and worth the £25

The only thing I wasn't mad on was the breakfast for £18 pp - for that price we expected a buffet or more options. But it was a menu with 4 of the few options had a £5 extra charge.
