room comfortable and spacious. Room temperature good. Great view from the room. Bed gave a comfortable sleep and nice and soft.
Please consider storage in terms of how high the top shelf is. I doubt most people would be able to store items above the clothes hangers. a lot of things to consider technology wise but limited information on how to use. Same for the shower. Had difficulty turning shower off then the hand held would turn on as well. Did not report as only stayed 1 night.
Breakfast, comfortable bed, quiet room, no noise at all.
Nothing.
Location
AC didn’t work, asked twice for it to be sorted. Didn’t happen. We just received a weak apology at the end of our stay. Did not receive everything promised when we upgraded our room. Young bald man on reception lacking in customer skills , blunt to the point of rude on check in not just to me but to others as well needs a customer care skills upgrade (without any bits missing ) UPDATE 1 MONTH LATER Have repeatedly emailed hotel re our issues with lack of promised upgrades and no AC we are essentially being ignored. My wife and I owned and ran an award winning hotel for 20 years we know how customer service works. I am now a lecturer in hospitality at a major College and this experience is now a lesson in how not to do things for my students. Maybe some of the staff and management would like to come and address my students and explain their ethos. I would make them feel welcome and valued.
Great location walking distance to everything in the city centre. Clean, comfortable rooms and a decent breakfast.
N/A
Good location and comfortable stay, but parking is a major concern. The property is conveniently located close to the city centre, mall, and university, all within walking distance. The rooms were clean, the stay was comfortable, and the staff were quite cooperative and helpful.
The main drawback is the parking situation. The hotel does not have its own parking and recommends nearby parking facilities that charge $14 per exit, which I found excessively expensive, particularly for guests staying multiple days and having a car. Another significant issue is the lack of a proper drop-off/loading area for luggage. The designated loading area is almost always occupied, leaving guests with very limited options to unload their luggage safely. This creates the risk of receiving a traffic or parking fine while simply trying to check in or check out.
Nice and clean, comfortable beds. Enjoyed our stay for the night.
The frosted glass in the bathroom door, you can see everything it's not very nice when your sharing a room.
Location, cleanliness, friendly staff
Location
The location was excellent, the room decor was lovely and breakfast food
Our air-con in the room and on our floor was not working and the member of staff who came to look at it was very dismissive and said he would locate a fan for us. This did not appear! We couldn’t freshen up before going out for a pre arranged meal with friends- we were hot and bothered and very disgruntled. Upon arriving back after our evening out. The room was hotter inside than it was outside - very unbearable and not acceptable to sleep in. The night manager moved us to a different floor at 1am in the morning, not sure why this couldn’t have been done when we checked in. Very disappointing.
Very clean , breakfast was good
View from our suite was just huge building site
Staff were extremely pleasant throughout our stay, from Reception through bar and food service and the housekeeping department
Clean
Location
The staff was incredible, really made me feel at home
There was one day where my room wasn't cleaned
The beds are so comfortable. Free bottles of water is splendid.
I had a really good stay at Clayton Hotel Birmingham. From the moment we stepped through the entrance, the service was impeccable. We were offered a really nice room with complimentary snacks which was a nice touch. The restaurant also looked vibrant although we didn't get the opportunity to try it on this occasion. Special thanks to Muskaan at reception for being so welcoming and for making sure we had a comfortable stay. I will be back!
Nothing comes to mind.
Food, staff, hotel facilities are overall very good
The shower stand was broken while I was taking a shower. It was a scary experience. I later reported to the reception and the staff apologized politely and took follow up action. Other than that experience, the whole stay at Clayton was perfect.
Location was fantastic. Hotel is clean and well presented.
The TV and telephone in our room wasn't working. We also asked for additional pillows and towels. We had to ask twice for this and got it resolved.
I thought it was an amazing experiance
I liked everything
The location, the grill and the room
I didn’t appreciate the staff member chapping my door at 10.59 reminding me of 11am check out especially when I’m registers disabled, have cancer and a stoma bag which burst and trying to clean up.
Hotel is nice and clean. Overall peaceful, good location. Aircon worked excellent in our room. Easy access throughout the night, cleaners/housekeeping staff very kind. Good location into the city, felt safe.
Although front of hotel is nice and rooms are okay, this is not a four star hotel. Reception staff not hospitable on arrival, TV only had 3 working channels, not smart tv. The room is okay but nothing that distinguishes it from a standard hotel room. Shower pressure not great. Hotel stated they had a parking agreement set up. We verified our car registration prior to checking out, yet car park said we owed £47.00 spent over 30mins sorting this out at the barriers and by ringing the hotel - very big faff to eventually get sorted to the advertised £14. Reception staff also failed to acknowledge any of our booking notes, so disappointingly not fulfilled or addressed.
room was clean and we enjoyed our stay
Better option for those who don't eat pork meat. turkey rashers or chicken sausages can be an alternative options from pork meat. It don't meet our religious dietary laws
Nothing
Disappointed
The location, the room and faculties, the food and staff.
It took about 10minutes for reception staff to acknowledge my presence and receive me but they did apologise and give us a commentary upgrade.
Loved the relaxing day and the staff were excellent and located great for shops usb and type c charges plenty in room
Had to leave
Comfy bed
Nothing
Location to the City centre was very good. Local shops and coffee shops round the corner. Lovely hotel and bar/ seating area. Best of all meeting running celebrities who were staying in the hotel so we felt at home.
Liked all of it, we didn't eat in the hotel so cannot comment on this.
Everything the staff friendly rooms are comfy
Nothing
I stayed in the suite, it was exceptionally clean. The facilities were high end. Highly recommend.
The only issue is the car parking. The closest car park is Moor St, Bullring & it’s £20.00 for 24 hours.
beds were comfy
fact i paid a lot money stay there it’s 4 star hotel but i have to pay for tooth brushes razors tooth paste it wasn’t about money principle first time ever i had pay for these items in hotel. also had shower issue in my room staff didn’t seem to care not even a sorry about that
Very clean, good location, nice and friendly staff
Everything was good
Property is clean. Value for money.
Zero parking. Small drop off area. Difficult location with all the road work changes, tram lines etc to get too. Offers early check in, which didn’t mind paying for but you can’t do it even days in advance.

Bed and pillows were possibly the most comfortable I've experienced in a hotel - very good
Comfortable bed nice room
The tv hardly any channels worked no smart tv
Clean comfortable room nice breakfast friendly staff good location
Shower lacks power and need more milk sachets in the room
Breakfast was awful
The hotel is beautiful and clean
Air conditioning still not working it is our 3rd stay in the last year and it hasn't worked for any of them.
Everything. Staff were so kind and friendly, very welcoming. The room was very clean, and bed was comfy.
Nothing :)
The “Continental” breakfast was the best. Good selection of cold meats, cheese and different things from around the Mediterranean. Not a stale or dehydrated croissant to be seen as so many others offer as a “Continental” breakfast. The building is modern, clean and comfortable i a perfect location. And all of the staff are brilliant.
Location of the hotel was perfect and the room was impeccable. Staff also very friendly.
The A/C in our room wasn't working when we arrived and we had 1 night where we hardly slept due to the heat. The staff were aware and when we asked brought us 2 fans but they didn't cool the room down. The next day we were moved to another room which was greatly appreciated but there was no reduction in cost etc.
Very friendly staff, clean, good location close to everything and transport
No heating control working in the room, the room was roasting no air at all, very uncomfortable. We asked front desk twice to sort they did bring a fan but it didnt really help the heat on the whole floor was bad, air regulator was Not working we got some excuse about the heat outside being the problem it wasn't, temp control in room and whole floor was gone. One woman was sat outside her room trying to cool off/breath.
Sehr zentral gelegen
Exec King room was very well kitted out, well presented with all facilities you'd expect. Staff were very pleasant to speak with.
Breakfast facilities were the worst I've evert seen at a Clayton - absolute chaos from start to finish. One coffee machine tucked away to cater for everyone, cups kept on tables rather than near machine - causes confusion, queues and delays. No-one allocating or showing guests to tables, leads to a lack of order and, in my case, lone travelers returning from collecting their breakfast and finding other parties have then taken their table. A lack of facilities, poor layout and no established process for seating doesn't make for a relaxed start to the day.
Super clean and large rooms.

Good facilities, nice hotel and friendly staff
It is opposite the HS2 building site and on the fringes of the central business area but in fairness it was well double glazed and on 10-15 mins walk into the city hall / museum area. A bit pricey.

Lovely hotel and great location.

Very nice! Dominic was very kind and accomodating
Cute spot and tasty afternoon tea! Very good service :)
Pillows chunky and quite hard. No alternative choice on request which left me feeling tired as my here was no quality rest.
The hotel is lovely and has amazing staff there. Cannot praise Paulette enough. Wonderful asset to the hotel

From checking in our experience was great! We received a glass of bubbles to enjoy which was lovely. Manie was particularly helpful during our stay! The breakfast was lovely with lots of good options. Manie even popped by to make sure we were all ok! The only downside was the AC could have been better, but it didn’t spoil our enjoyment!
I stay here often with work. Rooms are clean (if just a little dark). Friendly and helpful staff, nice bar area and gym.
Good
Nice and clean and presentable and stylish and secure
Only provided with one key so unable to access the floor.
Modern hallways and reception
Location, no onsite parking so had to pay £27 in parking (pay each time you arrive/leave) 12 minute walk to the recommended car park up hill with suitcases, was put in a connecting room whilst I was staying by myself and could hear everything from the people on the other side of the door

Great location for my visit
Nothing!
spacious rooms
useless air conditioning
Cannot help to store food in the fridge. Not proactively helping us.
Really clean hotel, staff with excellent customer service. Breakfast was a nice selection & the chef were very helpful
When staying with family members if you’re not on the same floor you won’t have access to their floor. Which is great for security but not for being able to nip to each others rooms
Central location in Birmingham with easy access to transport links and Bullring shopping area. Hotel is lovely with beautiful bar and restaurant area. Rooms are spacious and very well furnished. Food was delicious and a special mention for Paulette who looked after us with evening meal and drinks, she had the kindest persona and engaged well with a great sense of humour - she made our evening really good. Thank you.
We attended the Clayton on 06/08/2026 for dinner to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary. It was absolutely lovely. Our waitress Paulette was very helpful, polite and attentive. Certainly a credit to your team. Lovely evening.
It was a nice place a couple minutes walk to the bullring shopping centre, nice staff and clean hotel service/rooms.
Parking
Fabulous night at the clayton. Special thanks to Manei for looking after us so well, because of this we will be back. Manei an asset to the hotel.
Paulette was really very good
Amazing service - loved Paulette :)
The room size and location of the hotel were just right! An early check-in was possible upon early arrival without planning for it or paying extra for it. The room I got was spacious and clean.
Even though not requested I was given a room equipped with a wheelchair accessible shower and toilet (room #522). It was not a problem for me and I did just stay for a night so I did not complain about it. However it was not communicated by the staff that the bathroom would be slightly differently equipped. I would wish for better communication by the staff.
Bed was comfortable
Breakfast was scrumptious and had good variety. Room was large, clean and bed was comfortable.
The view from the room.
Had a great stay here, very clean and comfortable with friendly staff
Location was good
I would not class it as a 4* hotel cheap toilet rolls, no spare pillows having to ask for towels daily and T-bags problem with tv, safe and rolling beds! Only one member of staff was lovely Charlotte
Great location. Don’t think this is a 4star hotel On arrival we were greeted by Charlotte, she was amazing! We got our room and it was extremely small for 3 people, no storage for luggage or drawers for clothes. We had a problem with the beds, they were rolling around while sat on them watching TV! Problem with safe and phone was working. TV had interference. Leaky shower Cheap toilet rolls No shower caps Cheap body wash caused a rash. We stayed for 7 nights and it was really embarrassing having to ask for towels, mugs and T-bags most days bar the last day! They didn’t seem to replace them when housekeeping. The room was very dark with very little sunlight. Our last night was interrupted by a screaming woman who was really shouting, it calmed down but she started up again! Reception staff not friendly when passing in and out. Wouldn’t want to stay there again.
Good central location, room nice and comfortable
Nothing it was perfect
Everything the staff are so lovely and the beds so comfy I slept so well. Breakfast was amazing free wifi is the cherry on top
Nothing it was perfect
We've had a great experience staying in this hotel, lovely staff, Dominic, Oli and Patoo were really helpful and with a perfect combination skills. Thanks everyone
Our server Jordan was very helpful and accommodating, he went above and beyond to make us feel appreciated. We sorry we didn't get to leave a tip for him this time but next time we come we surely will. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was good.
Very comfortable rooms, staff were friendly. Close proximity to the station and city center. Great place to relax on work trip with all the amenities needed! Very good iced coffee!
I had a great experience with Nitish at Clayton hotel and he was professional, friendly, and handled every guest with a positive attitude. His drink recommendations were excellent, service was quick, and he created a welcoming atmosphere. He is hardworking, attentive, and a valuable member of the team. Keep up the great work!
My friend and I visited for some beers and snacks, and we had an amazing time. The atmosphere was relaxed, the food was delicious, and everything was served promptly. One of the best parts of our visit was playing Jenga while enjoying our drinks—it made the experience even more fun and memorable. A special shoutout to Nitish, who looked after us throughout our visit. His service was exceptional—he was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. His warm hospitality really made our evening special. Overall, it's a fantastic place to relax, enjoy good food and drinks, play games with friends, and have a great time. We'll definitely be back. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Excellent service, friendly attitude, and amazing drink recommendations. Professional, attentive, and made the experience enjoyable. Highly recommended!
I was served by the wonderful Marcin at the front desk who very kindly upgraded me! Made my week.
I am very dissapointed, I have been Clayton’s on two occasions one in Birmigham and one in Manchester. When I went previously I had no issue and really enjoyed the hotel and how the rooms looked. Hence why I rebooked for the third time. This time was completly different the rooms were completly outdated, the interior being completly different and the smell was awful it smelled like smoke and mold and it was freezing. I was confused as to why it looked completly different to the previous time, So I asked the hotel staff at reception saying that the room is completly different and outdated. Come to find out only half the hotel is renovated, and as the hotel was fully booked they couldn’t change us to a different room. My friends also booked a room on the same day and there room was the newer refurbished room and I was shocked how different the two were, even the soaps they had was rituals branded, whereas ours was the cheaper version, they also had a smart TV whereas ours was just a very old tv with the standard channels . I think for me it’s the principal we both paid near enough the same price and got two different experiences, and as I have been before I was expecting it to be the same/similar experience. I booked this room for my birthday and it was awful. The outdated version of the room doesn’t even have the pictures on booking.com, therefore they are clearly advertising the rooms as the newer version rather than the older version which is pretty much false advertising. If your booking just be aware you may get the outdated version off a room even though you pay the same/similar price and further the room not being advertised. Be cautious! If I knew my room was going to look like that I would have never booked that room.
I had a wonderful experience at this hotel, and Muskaan (reception manager) made my stay even better. She was warm, professional, friendly, and welcoming from the moment I arrived. Check-in was quick and smooth, and she was always happy to answer my questions and assist with anything I needed. We have had best food and service at the restaurant, Rosetta provides excellent customer service, the food are super delicious. All in all, they made me feel valued throughout my stay. I would happily stay here again.
Rooms were good and comfortable and clean .
No fridge in the room . No parking
It was clean
The ac did not work and shower needed maintenance
Only complaint would be we were woke up 4 times during the night by people in the corridor returning to their rooms. Probably to be expected on a Saturday night

What guests love
Areas to consider
Cleanliness
9.4/10Multiple reviews note rooms are "clean and fresh", "really clean" and "presentable" — cleanliness is consistently praised across stays.
Service
9.8/10Service is a standout: numerous mentions of helpful, attentive staff (notably Paulette and Manei/Manie), excellent customer service and personalised care during stays.
Location
9.2/10Frequently described as centrally located with easy access to transport and the Bullring shopping area; some negative notes about lack of onsite parking and a walk/uphill to recommended car parks.
Room Quality
8.2/10Rooms are often described as spacious and well furnished, but several guests reported issues: dark rooms, ineffective air conditioning, connecting-room noise and some decoration concerns.
Amenities
8.8/10Good bar/restaurant, gym and breakfast offerings are noted positively; some operational issues (only one key supplied, floor-access restrictions, inability to store food in fridge) reduce the score slightly.
Value for Money
8/10Generally positive for the experience, but value is pulled down by extra costs and inconveniences (notably £27 parking charges and parking logistics).
Food and Beverage
9.3/10Breakfast receives praise as a "lovely" and well-selected offering; restaurant and meal experiences are described as delicious with attentive service.
Overall Experience
9.3/10Overall sentiment is highly positive — many "perfect", "wonderful" and celebratory stays — with a few operational annoyances that did not spoil guests' enjoyment.
