Beautiful hotel! Close to venues so you can just leave your car and walk. All the staff were very nice.
Proximity to the venue we were attending. The fact that your hotel was dog-friendly.
Quality de la chambre très bien propreté confort personnel irréprochable très bel hôtel

The hotel is Good! Staff is excellent! Julie, front desk, was amazing! Location is very good! What went wrong…noise! The floor below the room was thin as a cardboard! I begged to stay in an upper floor, but if I needed a bathtub, the only option was the 2nd floor. Sometimes I could assure that I felt the floor of the room moving! Other rooms doors were so close of each other, that we could hear the slamming doors of the other rooms as if they were mine! If you care for a good night sleeping, this isnt your place!
Location
No complementary breakfast and small restaurant with super limited choices.
Lovely hotel. Beautiful room. Quiet.
Nothing
I stayed at the Hilton Pennywell for a weekend for my friend's wedding. It's a short walking distance from the Gateway Arch National Park. My room was clean and cozy, and bathroom was very clean. The staff members were very friendly and helpful. I did not get to use all of the amenities in the hotel, but I visited the bar / lounge in the main lobby before the elevators. I recommend the Hilton Pennywell for those who are traveling to St Louis for a quick stay.
Location. Great historic building. Comfortable.
2 king beds and great location.
No complaints
We really enjoyed our stay here. The building is stunning, comfortable room, everything looks clean. Nice people at the reception desk, and the bar (especially Mary), they also have affordable parking. I think that the buffet breakfast should be included for this price, though. Other hotels way cheaper than this one and with better buffet breakfast don’t charge extra for this.
Jalen and Charlie were a tremendous help getting up parked and unpacked! They were also very friendly and accommodating. I would recommend them at any time!
We had such a wonderful experience. We were greeted as soon as we arrived and all needs were taken care of without any trouble. Jaylen and Charlie were great.
Excellent check in, especially with Maliki the parking Valet who went out of his way to be helpful & was delightful, friendly & kind! One could not ask for better customer service. 5 stars for him.
Loved Jalen! Such a nice gentleman. Took care of our car and experience at the hotel. Great man!
Jalen was great at valet he took real good care of us.
Jalen S was great, he offered good laughs and recommendations for the city for food and night life. My stay at the Hilton was nothing short of amazing.
Jalen was very helpful kind and communication. Had a great time with him
Lobby is beautiful. Staff is friendly. Room was clean. No conditioner in the shower. Asked to have it filled and it never was. Very thin towels. One of two elevators out the whole time, so long waits. Pot smell in hallways. Very average hotel overall.
This place was down the street from where we were staying and thought we'd give it a try. Well, it was an adventure. Service was slow, all the way around. Slow to get menus, water glasses had to be asked to be filled, 30 mins to meals.... bit wasn't busy and orders were wrong. SMH. Ever have a kid that is a plain Jane? So went you order a burger ketchup only and it comes with onions and some other sauce, ot has to go back. That was another 22 minute wait. Everyone else was done waiting for that meal. The chicken added to the Caesars salad might as well be left over as it was terribly dry, overcooked. And one of us asked of we could do seafood pasta with just shrimp (no mussels/clams. Was told yes, but then just ended with the grilled shrimp appetizer. I don't know how much more could go wrong on such simple orders.
Front desk was was helpful when we checked in the early morning hours (2:00) am. Markiki was extremely helpful with our oversized luggage and bags. He was a friendly face in the morning and gave good suggestions on where we should go.
Both the valet workers and the front desk were very friendly and willing to help! Especially Markiki!
Beautiful decor and the staff was very friendly.
I liked that you had to use the key card to use the elevator. Keeps the floor safe.
I didnt like there was nasty toilet tissue behind the bin in the bathroom.
Proximity to Gateway Arch and Busch Stadium. The hotel was clean.
Our air conditioning went out around 9pm and it was 78 in our room. Maintenance could not fix it. There were no other rooms available. We slept with a fan.
Super Hotel, sehr schöne Atmosphäre, tolle Zimmer, nettes Personal
Alles bestens
When we entered our first room, the air conditioning wasn't working. Talked with front desk & maintenance tried to fix it when we were gone for dinner. Upon our return, front desk clerk(can't remember her name) told us that the air conditioning was not fixable, so they gave us another room. She also gave us complimentary coupons for free breakfast for my family and I for the next morning, which I thought was very nice. Breakfast is $20-$25 per person for the buffet. The rest of the stay went well. Great location to Arch & Busch Stadium.
Confortable beds, big room and bathroom. Excellent location and historic building
Very cool hotel! Lobby sets the tone. Rooms are clean and nicely done. Front desk team were great! Only complaint is I wish they had a coffee service in lobby without going to restaurant. One tip is maps drops you off on the wrong side of hotel so it is a little loop to get back to valet drop However the location to Arch is perfect and short walk to Busch Stadium
Beautiful lobby and equally beautiful rooms. Clean and modern looking. Parking was a bit tricky since it’s in the city, but it was overall a very comfortable stay!
La localización y el “valor histórico” del hotel
Las instalaciones requieren mayor mantenimiento El destino se sirve a la carta y atiende muy poca gente para la cantidad de huéspedes
We chose this hotel based on it's location to The Arch and the baseball field. We did book the night before, and when we got into STL early check-in and room choice was offered on the app. We chose an upgraded room in the hopes we would have a view of The Arch at night. We were notified that our room was ready, so we checked in. At check in we were told that our room that we chose was not ready and hadn't been cleaned yet. We were told we needed to pick a different room. Once in our room we noted it was very warm (78 degrees), so we adjusted the air. After we visited The Arch and returned to the room it was still very warm. The hotel sent an engineer up to look at the air conditioning, and hour later it still was not cooler (still 78). We were offered a room change, and that room was much cooler. The hotel was very nice, and clean. The staff were also very kind and helpful! There were some minor things coupled with the other hiccups that made our stay less enjoyable. - One elevator was not working. - Restaurant was closed for a private event without warning/notification (we were offered a menu, but asked to sit in the lobby and read the menu as we could not even be in the restaurant/bat at all.) - Ice machine was not working **NOT on the hotel- but there was a lot of construction on the street and made parking in the parking ramp a little challenging, it took about 20 minutes with traffic to get out of the ramp and back in-front of the hotel to pick up our bags.**
People are great. Location is excellent - walked to baseball stadium, Archway, museusms. But you hear every noise next door and on the street, can see light all the way around the door to the room, never brought new towels or emptied the trash. But it was clean and I cannot say I would never recommend this place - just know what you are getting.
While the accommodations at the Pennywell could use a little TLC, the customer service is what will keep me coming back every time I'm in St. Louis. From Stephanie behind the bar crafting customized Old Fashioneds, to Charlie and the entire valet team making every arrival and departure effortless, the people here truly made the difference. Their professionalism, hospitality, and genuine care turned a good stay into a memorable one. If I were rating the team alone, they'd earn 5 stars without hesitation. Thank you all for taking such great care of me during my stay. You are a shining example of what great customer service looks like.
Great location and staff.
No bathtub.
This hotel is located perfectly in the downtown area in walking distance of the Arch, Busch Stadium, restaurants and convenient stores. If you take the train its less than 10 minutes away by car. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful. I will recommend this hotel to friends and family.
The staff was very polite and helpful. The room was clean and well kept. Markiki was very helpful and attentive to all guests and made sure to assist with luggage and questions. It was a great experience.
Convenient to ballpark and arch
The room wasn’t ready when we got there and we had to wait for an hour and a half to get the room. They said check in was at 4pm and we got in the room at 5:45 pm. We booked it for a ballgame that started at 6:10 pm. Needless to say we were late for the start of the game. The parking garage was across the street and not connected to the property.
Hotel is in a great location, nice & very clean. Staff is fantastic. Markiki makes the valet service stand out above 99% of places I stay for work, guy is fantastic.
When we got here our room that we had paid for wasn’t available, but the hotel staff more than made up for our frustration. Robert was so kind to get us another room and Markiki was super warm and friendly to help with any questions we had. It made up for the hotel.
Markiki was absolutely fantastic!! He also was working by himself doing valet, and you couldn’t even tell he was moving so fast!!! He made the experience great!!
I have stayed several times at the Hilton hotels in St. Louis. The Penny well is centrally located with nice rooms and a friendly staff. Thank you to Markiki for the help with my bags as I was urgently heading out.
Excellent. Restored downtown bank.
It was very clean and the beds were comfortable.
That you had to pay for parking
Location
The hotel was very dirty. The bedroom carpet was wet in spots and there was stains on the beds. The curtains were filthy on the bottoms. We went down for breakfast and after we used the restroom located in the lobby. The restroom was disgusting. There was stuff all over the floors to where ur shoes were sticky after u walked out of the restroom. I was very disappointed in my stay at this facility. I love to stay with Hilton but this facility was not up to Hilton standards.
Hotel was great and Ritzky our server was Awesome!!! He worked every day we were there and his customer service was the best!
Markiki is an amazing friendly host. He treated us well and took interest in our bike sport that we shared with him.
Great stay. Also Markiki Ĥicks was a great front door attendant.
The valet attendant Markiki Hicks and Kam were awesome..made solo feel like I was home! Great hospitality.
Great service, any little issues resolved with ease, Markiki and the other folks were great!!
Markiki Hicks is a very good car attendant…
Disgusting service, a black woman who calls herself a manager can be so disrespectful to people in the Hilton Hotel for the first time.👎
👍
I chose the Pennywell for a recent overnight trip to St. Louis due to its price and location; though I have loyalty status with Hilton, it was actually the cheapest property of any of the major chains in the area. The location of the Pennywell is excellent, as it’s just a block from Gateway Arch and about a 10 minute walk to Busch Stadium. I am a ~30 y.o. female traveling solo and while I only walked around the area during the daytime into early evening, I didn’t have any safety concerns during these times. The building has a lot of old school charm both in its facade and the art-deco lobby, complete with the bank’s vault turned into a shop for sundries. The front desk kindly held my luggage while I went to a 1pm Cardinals game, and I was able to retrieve it easily when I returned. Valet was very low-key; I was the only vehicle there when I dropped off and picked up. All the staff members I interacted with were friendly and polite. I booked a Superior Room and was surprised by how large the space was; between the room and the bathroom with a huge tub separate from the shower, it felt like a mini-suite. The room had nice, classic furnishings, including a couch and desk area, though some fixtures in the room and bathroom were starting to show wear and tear from age. There were also some minor housekeeping things, like small crumbs and dust, that reflected the property could be better maintained. Nonetheless, I had a good stay at the Pennywell and it was more than I needed for my trip. I would recommend the property to others due to its value and location.
I had to start a dispute with my bank because this hotel doesn't answer my email. I have a receipt from booking.com which says breakfast is included, and I talked to two people at the hotel and they said breakfast was included, then I got charged $110 extra for breakfast on top of the breakfast package. I will update my review after the hotel returns the overcharge.
Not up to date for the amount spent. Chipped paint on doors and walls. Rooms are really small. Furniture had holes in it.
everything
Took 3/5 days to get our room made and they left us with the same holey ill fitted sheets that came off the bed every night. Angry maintenance staff banging on the door to address what should have been a housekeeping job during the day rounded out the 1 & done experience.
Front of house staff were excellent! I arrived after 11pm and the front reception (Brie?) was super lovely and helpful. My other accommodation had fallen through and they made my stay here super comfortable. Large room, comfy bed and dark curtains for a sleep in. Thank you :)
Staff was helpful and knowledgeable. Explained self park vs valet, breakfast and area. Room was clean and stocked with coffee and tea. Bed was so comfy with great pillows. Breakfast was eggs, pancakes, cereal, fruit, yogurt, muffins, bacon sausage, biscuits/gravy and more. Price was great. Perfect! Highly recommend!
Not a thing.
Couple of little things couple of small things
Great location in close proximity to the Arch
Below is my original review. Less than 24 hours after leaving this review the manager reached out to me! Impressive!! She was very kind and genuinely wanted to know how they could improve. It was a very nice discussion and I was truly blown away by her commitment to service. I wouldn't even say my original review was terribly negative, and she wanted to make it better. As I said in the original review the bed was super comfy, the location is fantastic. I will be staying at the Pennywell again. Not only because of the location, but more for the service provided by the manager. My original review stands, and I believe my stay at the end of this month will be even better. Thank you Hilton Pennywell!!! More to come :-) Original Review: MEH It’s fine. Here for work and on the company dime. Staff is nice enough. Charles, the valet, is fantastic and really seems to enjoy his job, people and helping them. The location is very convenient. Self parking is difficult as the spaces are very narrow. Valet is expensive but we are downtown. The room is nice. I can kind of see the arch, and a rooftop. Housekeeping failed to replenish coffee, empty trash, or clean the coffee maker. But they did make the bed and give me towels. The bed is VERY comfy. So, overall meh
The hotel is in an old federal reserve. Really cool decor and just a few steps from the Arch. Rooms were very clean and loved the fact they offered a space with two king beds.
Location
Being locked out of room due to battery going out with lock. Toilet had issues that wouldn’t flush and overflowed. Both issues were fixed but not something I was expecting. Also the amount I paid for room included breakfast but according to employee serving breakfast it wasn’t. It got straightened out at front desk but not something I should have to worry with. The air conditioning was loud and wouldn’t cool down till early morning.
everything:)
They tried to charge me more than what I paid on Booking. I ended up paying the right amount only after insisting for a while. First hotel in years of traveling that tried to do this to me...
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean. The breakfast buffet was delicious. We were in walking distance to the Arch and Busch Stadium.
nothing....
In a town where the local labor pool has little desire to work, I know that I can rely on the staff at this hotel to come through. Front Desk Agents are always smiling - big plus! I can rely on V, Juli and Rana to be ready with their smiles whenever I walk through the lobby. Sarah is always helpful, too. Breakfast is always a delight as Kayla, the hardest working server, is on it with her politeness and courteous way of taking the care of the Guest. Her colleague Nia is always smiling, too. I'm at the tail end of a 6-week work trip and am really enjoying the hotel. I like seeing the Housekeeping team always keeping that lobby looking good. I usually avoid them coming into my room, but a on long stay I'll remove the DND sign about once a week. I come back and the room is fresh and clean - love it. The neighborhood may not be the greatest - especially after dark - but if you plan your day correctly, and as daylight savings has happened you can figure out the few eateries around here. The hotel is a revitalized bank with historic significance for St. Louis. Walk around the lobby and appreciate the details in the ceiling and around the vault doors. Around the corner is the Gateway Arch - a view that never gets old! Every other morning I'll grab my Starbucks from across the street, sit in the park and enjoy the view. The Mississippi River is just behind. The museum down below is free and tells an excellent story of St. Louis and it's significance in America. You'll see numerous well preserved artifacts from the old days - really cool! Note that there a few specific rooms that have stunning views of the Arch and others of the Eads bridge - the first steel bridge - the Martin Luther King Jr. bridge, the mighty Mississippi and Illinois all together. At night and all lit up is truly an amazing view. I like room 727. Management has done a very nice job running a good hotel. This is a good choice for holding your corporate events and local sports centers.
Beautiful hotel with nice amenities. Beds were super comfortable.
Convenient location and very clean. Staff was friendly.
The main issue was that our TV didn't work. I made sure it was plugged in, the remote lit up when I pressed power button, indicating the batteries worked, but it would never turn on. I called for help but it was too late for maintenance. Also, the beds weren't the worst, but weren't the best either. Also, the room seemed really cold, even when I adjusted the thermostat.
The location was great and the hotel itself was nice the lobby and outside. Breakfast was good.
Out room was dirty plan flat out dirty. I went down to ask about it and desk at guest service was gone. I couldn't wait for them because I had reservations. The table beside the bed was sticky and had drinks spilled on it it clearly wasnt cleaned the bathroom was dirty and even had trash from the last guest on the floor under the sink there was hair all over the bathroom floor and the door.. I have pictures of this. I only stayed one night and always travel with disinfectant wipes so I cleaned the necessities myself.
Very helpful and courteous. Conner went above and beyond at the valet
Excellent. An vi at the front desk was fabulous. Very welcoming and accommodating to all of our needs. Best service we have ever had from front desk. Conner cave from valet was amazing. Helped with our luggage and extremely helpful with assisting in our checkout. Will be staying again at the pennywell for the staff alone.
Had a great stay! Jameer and Connor in valet were very polite and helpful. There was an issue with my room on arrival but it was handled quickly and efficiently by the staff.
JALEN— BEST GUEST SERVICE MANAGER EVER! As a diamond member I was extremely impressed. He didn’t even know my status and continued to go above and beyond to ensure my stay was great. The hotel was booked and busy and he gave everyone amazing care. THANK YOU JALEN
Hotel was very nice and convenient downtown. Rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable compared to many other Hilton Hotels. Only complaint was my jacuzzi tub in my room did not work. Staff were super friendly, especially Cade Jackson the valet did a great job.
The location is great
I was charged a smoking fee of more than 300 dollars because they said the smoke detector went off for a time when we weren’t even in the room 😅
location
bed was worn out, toilet ran 10 plus minutes after flushing, shower drainage issues
Very nice large room with comfortable bed and pillow
I was surprised my room was not straightened each day. Restaurant is very open and cold. Breakfast was dreadful. Micro-wave sausage and roast potatoes , so dried up they could not be pierced with a fork
room accommodation was great breakfast was reasonably priced and very good had a buffet
there was an electrical outlet by the TV that was broken Informed staff 2 times but was not fixed during our stay
Breakfast buffet was great, along with the service. We had two vehicles in tge valet parking overnight. We had no issues retrieving the vehicles in a timely manner.
There was no ice in the ice machine. We don't know if it was broken, or if all the ice was used.
The bed and pillows were comfortable
There was a beer bottle and beer spilled outside the elevator. It was there hours before I finally said something. There was also beer spilled outside the elevator in the lobby that no one seemed to notice. The cream in my room was rotten. I called and asked for more cream and coffee they brought only cream so only 1 of us had any coffee. The fire alarm on my floor was broken out of the box. My shower had 2 shower gels and no shampoo so I couldn't wash my hair.
Incredible experience and stay. As soon as I walked in I was greeted and welcomed by Jalen who was super friendly and outgoing. He definitely made my stay much better. I highly recommend staying here.
午前中に到着したのですが、アーリーチェックインに対応して頂きました。
ルームクリーニングが3日目にやっと入ったので、どのタイミングで掃除して頂けるのかわからなかった
Its an impressive physical property (a former bank) and my room was enormous. No complaints about the staff, who were pleasant and helpful. its located a block and a half from the arch/courthouse right downtown. but the room itself needs a serious upgrade. toilet, shower--all worn. the blanket had a thin sheet/duvet on it that barely stayed on. the heat (very necessary) was effective but made a racket whenever it was on, turned it off to sleep. and i wasnt wild about paying $40/night to park my car in a freezing cold, dark and unattended parking garage across the street (that you must pay the hotel to use, because otherwise you get locked out at 8pm for the night).
Location
Didn’t feel as clean as anticipated, specifically the bathroom.
Everything was great. My room was spotless every day, staff were very attentive and helped with anything necessary. The lobby is beautiful, a pleasure to walk in to. Iron available in the room, coffee, fridge, big bathroom. Super easy talk to the convention center.
The room key card didn't always work quickly, the fridge & ice machine made a humming sound but that could often be ignored.
I was on 5 day business trip and stay in Hilton Penywell hotel. My room was on 3rd floor facing quiet street and was clean, gloomy and not appealing. Bed was ok. The biggest disappointment came from sudden loud noise (started at third night) caused by some equipment inside the hotel. Thus I cannot recommend this hotel despite of its great location.
Room was very clean and comfy
when we checked the staff member was kinda confusing and lack some info . Later we observed her giving water to other guest but not to us when we checked in.
