Location is brilliant for me
Nice and clean very friendly staff
Great location, very large clean and comfortable room, dinner and breakfast excellent.
There was a wedding celebration on in a separate room but the noise coming from the room made for very uncomfortable experience in residents lounge. Need to separate in some way and to close off door from lounge into wedding venue.
Restaurant und Bad rochen muffig.
location
not in main hotel
We have been staying at The Higher Trapp for on & off for over 10 years and the welcome we get is second to none, this time we were greeted on reception by Ash who was so informative, helpful & could not do enough to ensure we had everything we needed, thanks Ash. We ate in Fitzy's Restaurant for both our evening meals & breakfasts over our 4 night stay the food was very nice the only comment I can make is on the Haddock I thought it was of child like portions with 12 chips added and a spoonful of mushy peas, I did send a picture back to the Chef who came back with it is a standard size portion. This is the second time I have had to send a comment back about the fish size it is a good job I had bread & butter to fill me or I would have left hungary. The waiting staff at both breakfast and dinner were outstanding, thanks to Joe, Dillon, Toby, Mia, Claire, Alex & a big thank you to Chris for Sunday nights meal it was outstanding & Cook for a couple of very nice breakfasts. We hope to see you all again but not for a fish dinner. Ken & Marie Room 20.
The location and grounds.
The cleanliness of our bedroom. [ room 21] Food at dinner was very greasy and over priced . Decor shabby.
• Old outdated hotel • Small bed • Mattress was sagging on one side • Could hear every movement above us • Extractor fan in bathroom spat out dirt
Hotel is in a beautiful setting. The bathroom had had a recent makeover which was good. Restaurant waiting staff were excellent. The house has a lot of potential (which is not being used).
My room was cramped & the mattress uncomfortable. My room was NOT serviced on the Sunday which is bad. Breakfast was standard. It would help if there was a "cheaper" option. I am not a big eater and £12.99 for 2 pieces of toast and a cup of tea is expensive. The croissants were tough. Fresher produce - not sure how "local" everything was. The emphasis on being a wedding venue (2 weddings in the 3 days I was there) made me feel like an intruder. It was not wise to put my room right above the disco that played loudly until 11.30pm either. The hotel corridors and glass need better cleaning. Things were dusty and smeared. The empty shelves in furniture that lined the corridors could be filled with second hand books etc. The pictures on the wall should be of local scenes (which can be bought inexpensively). And whilst I appreciate and am very used to the friendliness of Northerners (I have been coming to the area for 45 years) I was a bit surprised to be addressed as "love" and "darling" by the reception staff.
Arrived a bit early and no one on reception. Hunted around and found someone multi tasking serving behind the bar. When someone eventually turned up we were greeted enthusiastically and allowed to check in our room early. The room was spacious and comfortable but to say was tired would be an understatement. Carpets dirty, paint work also dirty and stripping off, bathroom grubby with limited towels and toilet paper, all in all disappointing. However on a plus point on turning right from reception the lounge area, bar and restaurant were more presentable although the tables were clearly never moved when hovering as crumbs etc on the floor. On an all inclusive deal which have pluses and negatives. The food and service both at dinner and breakfast was first class but the drinks menu was very restrictive with a local clause that all sprits have to include a mixer which was frustrating although you could have as much as you wanted. As my wife was struggling with the stairs and our overall disappointment we left a day early but must thank Claire on reception for sorting out a credit for the all inclusive part. Needles to say we won’t be returning and suggest that the family look to spruce the place up a bit to attract other than locals who clearly only go there only for the all inclusive package.
It’s in lovely grounds and the food was good lovely hotel if you stay in it!
We stayed in the lodge’s which is a walk away from the hotel itself and it’s down a slope (not good in the rain with heels and alcohol!)It was cold in our room there was a heater that was provided but it took hours to warm up the room it also had a strange smell in the room and no hot water in the morning. The tv wasn’t a smart tv.
The location was beautiful.
The hotel is very dirty and very tired,
Just got back from this hotel absolutely disgusting we stayed in the lodge as they call it room 31 as we had difficult with stairs I have stayed in many hotels and this one was absolutely disgusting we went to meet up with are friends for her birthday what a let down her hubby ask if they could make it special for her nothing as they had a wedding on our room stank off mould and damp and when we lifted the door blind it was covered in damp and mould health hazard or what the room was filthy the carpet was stained with what looked like blood and the room was covered in dog hairs and so very dated spiders webs everywhere we went to speak to reception and showed them the photos off the room and they were shocked we paid for the all inclusive package just short off 300 pound the restraunt and bar were we ate and had a drink was very noisy the meal was good the first night the second night portion size was cut down and wasnt as good as night before they had people who just walked in and they were very loud you couldn't hear yourself speak they moved are room into hotel which was a nice room but so hot as water pipe runs through it they gave us a pathetic £50 as an apology and said the in an email that the room was unacceptable we definatly would not go again they obviously do a good wedding package but dont care about there other guest or the cleaners off there rooms or the guest as my partner suffers from copd he has not stopped coughing and wheezing since he got back as damp and mould does not his chest any good
Rotton door held together by a metal bar , green slim and mold on door blind , stains in the toilet, blood stain in the carpet , 5 spiders webs behind door, no toilet paper , chair coveredin dog hairs
Met up with friends for a two night stay 16/17 August 2026. After requesting not to be put in a lodge, we were put in a lodge. Having previous stayed in one we knew how noisy these could be at night, and this time was no different, horrendous, doors slamming, people shouting into the early hours. The tiles in the bathroom on the floor were cracked, leading to a cut on big toe. The mattress was like something I had never slept on - seemed to have a bar across the middle which was awful - very bruised leg now, I cannot believe they were not aware of this. There are no phones in the rooms for us to let reception know and once in nightwear it is not appealing to have to walk up approximately 100y outside to reception in the rain to inform them. That was night one - no sleep whatsoever. Night two we managed to be transferred to the main hotel accommodation, and although better was very warm/hot so very uncomfortable in the night, this was due to hot water pipes. Opened the window as far as we could (a few inches) and this was absolutely filthy (tried to upload a photo but having difficulty on here, although did send to the hotel). There had been a wedding when we arrived, and the carpet was not cleared of the debris from this in the corridors during our stay. The food on the first night was nice, but ordering exactly the same on the second night the portions were half the size! A gentleman on the table next to us had his drink knocked all over him by a waitress, and then the table behind had the same thing happen by another waitress, by now we thought we had inadvertently booked a 'Fawlty Towers' weekend, at least then it would have been funny. The hotel have awarded us £50 as a goodwill gesture, but considering the two nights cost us just short of £300 and we got no sleep whatsoever on night one and very little on night two I think this is a bit of an insult. Oh, and I had emailed ahead to inform the hotel it was my wife's birthday so a little gesture would have been nice, but although they replied to the email and said they would make a note, they did absolutely nothing, I have never known a hotel completely dismiss requests, etc., as this one did. All in all, I think this hotel focuses on weddings and regulars, we did hear a few people complaining, in fact we had to wait at reception to complain whilst the people in front finished their complaint. For the money we had paid for this stay, what we received was very very below par, we at least expect to be able to sleep when in a hotel, but this was definitely not the case on night one of our stay, and very limited on night two.
Well equipped room
Many of the buffet breakfast choices had run out by 9.00am. Wasn't aware that 2 flights of stairs for room access.
Cheap deals bringing in locals just to drink and be loud and dirty mouthed all the time. People going to view for future weddings walked out and so did we. Pull your selves together head office. The area doesn't need this type of clientele.
Nothing
Dirty hotel and rooms absolutely horrific
surroundings were excellent
No hot water in my room
Just got married here on the 8th August.... what can I say it was so amazing the staff are absolutely brilliant food was amazing and would like to give a big shout out to Avril.. she was a super star she made sure everything went smooth she was fab
Lovely gardens and views, the room was comfortable and clean.
We loved our wedding at Higher Trapp on 7 Aug 2026. The grounds are beautiful and the staff exceptional. Special thanks go to Georgia who looked after us on our wedding day - her professionalism, organisation and customer care were exemplary and she was kind and considerate throughout. The food was excellent too. Thank you. Shirls & Matt 🥰
Nice hotel in a great location. I'd like to especially thank Sheila and Georgia in the restaurant. Made the evening entertaining for my colleague and me. First time in Lancashire, and they made my visit welcoming and down-to-earth (the warmth of the people from Lancashire was a welcome change - coming from the South!). The food was cooked well, and the portion size was ideal for me. All in all, a pleasant stay.
Went for a 2 day deluxe all inclusive on 4/8/26 Food and alcohol really nice and staff very helpful Stayed in the lodge which could do with updating, carpets all worn on the stairs and rooms could do with quite a revamp On our booking it said they had leisure facilities which included a sauna and swimming pool but didn’t have either therefore didn’t have much to do in the day Staff could not do enough for you which made the experience much better
Just come back after a couple of nights stay at this hotel! I received the “ all inclusive “ package for Christmas, and what a great gift it was! The hotel is lovely, the staff are very friendly and the package is well worth it! You can upgrade at any time! Would definitely stay again and will be definitely recommending this to friends and family
This is my 2nd visit here. This time for a friends birthday treat.unfortunately we weren’t treated or greeted!. Arrived and there was a wedding in progress. Not a problem at all. Waited in the bar area for staff. None. Went to reception to ask. Oh it’s me I’ll be with you shortly I’m doing reception, there was no one there but me… later again waiting in the bar area, went to reception “you’ll have to wait, I’m on reception and I don’t know where the staff are”… went to the room, clothes left from a previous visitor in the drawers… told reception however they were still there on the morning that we checked out. No milk portions in the room to make a drink… food was absolutely 💯 1st class. Well done chef. Such a shame the front of house let it down . We may have been on an all inclusive deal, but…. Every guest is as I important as the next. If you only want wedding guests when you have a wedding don’t open the hotel to others. Very dissatisfied 😒
Friendly and attentive staff! Fabulous meal and beautiful grounds. Perfect for a special getaway.
Set in a nice area ,nice gardens for a wedding
Annex in serious need of an update , both body wash, shampoo bottles for guests to use completely empty. Cup holder for tooth brush fixed to tiles but no glass in it. dressing table scratched and worn. Paving slabs outside the room not fixed down and moving
clean and lovely views
a little dated
We were there for a wedding, everyone was fabulous
Nothing
Reception staff were friendly and helpful. The food at breakfast was good, although a greater variety of fruit was expected.
The breakfast was a bit disappointing. There were 2 young people running the restaurant. I don't think that they had had enough training. The table wasn't cleared even though it was quite full before we had finished. We had to request cutlery, cups, cereal bowls and butter. No one was checking that supplies of these things were available.
Stayed on a Saturday night with friends for the deluxe all inclusive deal….no issues with the quality of drinks…just the availability. Not enough staff on the bar, abundance of glasses on the bar unwashed. Bar staff were lovely and doing their best but there just wasn’t enough of them. Special mention to Grace who was fantastic and went out of her way to ensure we always had drinks. The food was great and the rooms were ok. We were in the annex building and the rooms were quite spacious. Breakfast was ok but again, due to not enough staff there were no cups, no bread…all sorted when we asked but it shouldn’t be like that. All in all we had a great time as the weather was lovely so we could sit outside. However I feel if it’d been rain and a bit dull, we’d of had a different experience
The room was cool considering the heatwave. Large car park.
Food was not great. I had thai green curry, tasty but a thick layer of oil coated it all so sauce didn't even stick to the chicken
The views are beautiful the staff was friendly and accomadating.
The fact i disnt stay longer
This hotel has the potential to be lovely but needs alot of work and staff training. The hotel is in beautiful grounds. We arrived to find an empty reception and waited for a lovely lady to come. The poor girl was alone running reception, The bar and serving meals. The same lady changed our room for us which was fantastic as the one we had been given was so small with a small double bed ,The Evening meal was good but the Bar service needed work. The breakfast was Shambolic with one lad serving who to be fair did well. NO cereal bowls,No glasses for juice and no cutlery on the table. The breakfast was poor, pached eggs swimming in water.
Bed Can not sleep
Traditional mansion house with lots of character and amazing views. However, room had everything i needed including iron table and iron, nice desk.
Room I stayed in was bit small. Double bed.
Lovely hotel, beautiful gardens and local area, staff above and beyond
WOW!!!! several weeks before we were due to stay, we received an email, informing us there would be a wedding taking place on one of the nights of our two night stay, just so we were aware, and not surprised. This was the beginning of the EXCELLENT customer service! 3 days before arriving, a lovely email came from "Georgia" asking us if we had any preferred times for eating our evening meal, and if so , she would book us a slot in advance! Again, never had this type of communication from the big chains. On arrival the hotel was basking in evening sun and the welcome on the front desk was lovely. There were several dogs staying at the hotel, but not one bark was made the whole time! The other reviews mention the tired rooms, and yes, I have to agree, although clean and suited our needs, I would like to think there were plans underfoot to renovate in the next 18 months or so. HOWEVER, if we move on to talk about the quality of the food...... I simply can't tell you how EXCELLENT it was. I honestly couldn't tell you the last time I have been served food that HOT! It was like being a child again, when your told to blow on your food to cool it down! The quality of the produce they use was extremely good and the taste was incredible. The cooked breakfast also came out piping hot!! The staff in all departments, including the young women cleaning the rooms were polite and chatty, and when I asked her to leave me some extra biscuits, because even they were gorgeous ("Ringtons ginger snaps", I even took a picture of the packaging to order some when we got home!) she kindly did. Oh, by the way, the wedding was absolutely beautiful, the hotel staff seemed to be beside them for every want and need, and when it came to the music and celebrations you honestly couldn't hear a thing. Big chains might have the money to bombard us with flash social media hits and fancy websites, but this is an honest to goodness hotel, run and care for by local staff and its just nice to get that feeling back that so many hotels have lost or replaced with "Swishness". If you go "up north" then be prepared to be "Up north" ! We will definitely be booking to go back and we have been telling a lot of people about the amazing inclusive deal on offer.....with food of the standard we got on both nights, I would pay double!!
Excellent breakfast and the setting is stunning, the hotel is perfect for a short break
nothing
Terrace was nice and so was the bar. The breakfast was ok but the room in a separate house was quite poor and really outdated.
The room was way below the standard of everything else at the hotel
We booked a family room at the Higher crapp Hotel over six months in advance. This stay was crucial for us, as our daughter’s wedding was taking place the next day at a nearby venue. When we arrived on Friday, we noticed the hotel was hosting weddings. We had absolutely no issue with that, until we got to our family room and realized it was located directly above the disco. The music was unbearably loud—so loud that the bass was literally shaking our room. This was an absolute nightmare because my 13-year-old daughter was a bridesmaid and had to be up at 6:00 AM to be transported to the wedding venue. I went downstairs to request that the music be turned down. While they lowered it slightly, the booming bass continued to blast until 12:30 AM. Once the music finally stopped, the chaos didn't. Drunk wedding guests were allowed to freely roam the corridors, screaming loudly and having sing-alongs. People were evenurinating on the hotel grounds. To top it off, the guests in the room next door decided to keep the party going inside their room. As a result of the total lack of control or security by the hotel staff, we did not get to sleep until 3:00 AM. To put a family in a room directly over a booming night venue and then completely fail to manage the antisocial behavior of drunk guests in the corridors afterward—is a total and utter disgrace. We woke up exhausted and stressed on what should have been one of the happiest days of our lives. If you value your sleep or have an important event the next day, stay far away from this place.
Food was good room was comfortable and clean
Some staff seemed slightly unaware of products
Good - location of the hotel is amazing! Stunning views and hotel grounds. The staff are generally very good - polite, helpful. Special mention to Georgia on reception who was fabulous this morning when my husband fell getting out of the shower and badly injured himself. Bad- Poor quality room (even though I upgraded) Bathroom & bedroom not the best cleanliness-wise. Everything tired and dated. My husband was so shocked at the price I paid for 1 night all inclusive (basic) which included afternoon tea (passable but definitely not great), 45 mins in the hot tub & £25 each towards evening meal & drinks between 6pm-11pm. And that was embarrassing at check in when I was told how much I owed in front of him. He was even more upset when after we’d paid for a couple of drinks during the afternoon - the quality of lager in the all inclusive was awful! He therefore requested an amaretto with ice, only to be told he HAD to have a mixer with his amaretto - they weren’t allowed to serve them straight. It seemed ridiculous that my 66 year old husband cannot have the drink he wanted on his birthday treat!!?? He’s never had a mixer with amaretto and tried it with soda to discover it’s undrinkable. He didn’t take advantage of any more drinks after 2 extremely disappointing options. Dinner was passable but £8.50 for 3 scoops of cheap ice cream is extortionate! Breakfast this morning wasn’t good and I didn’t realise coffee machines contain gluten ingredients in them (assuming it was that as I specifically asked for gluten free breakfast) I was very ill straight after breakfast having had a very bad gluten reaction to something. Then to top the night away off, my husband slipped getting out of the shower (which is over the bath) this morning. The towelling bath mat slid across the tiled floor as he got out of the shower and he injured all his back. Needless to say he never wants to return and I felt bad recommending it after staying in February with my friend.
All ov it nice place
The decor was Beautiful, very comfortable. Nice location.
The receptionist on Sunday morning was well moody. Breakfast didn’t have many options. Very limited. Chicken or beef sausage option would be nice for someone who doesn’t eat pork. Also only one poor lady serving breakfast
The bed linen and towels were clean, the staff were friendly and helpful.
The hallways smelt foisty, the bedroom and bathroom needed a full refurb - they are tired and dated. The bath was creaky and felt like the bottom was going to cave in, the hot water didn't say hot. Overall, a little disappointed for the amount we paid.
Location
Lodge location wasn’t really part of the hotel in my opinion- too far from restaurant.
Lack of public transport Lack of toiletries Very small bathroom Lots of noise between rooms Room not cleaned properly
Family member wedding. Excellent organisation by the wedding team.Good room .Nice grounds .Food and evening entertainment was very good.
all good
nothing
Beautiful scenery beautiful hotel... Great value. Staff were amazing Was very clean. Food was on point... Easy check in and easy check out.
Lovely outlook
Room a little small, but we could have upgraded
Was here for wedding had a mint time amber who was the manager was very helpful as well as Joe on the bar was very good and had excellent customer service and attention to detail Avril was very helpful as well as Alex who was working nights.
Location good breakfast ok
Didn't think that the premium room was as good as it looked in the photos dirty marks on walls and carpets no complimentary snacks poor tea coffee selection
The peace and quiet. Food was good lovely views and friendly helpful staff
My key card having to be sorted twice but not to much of a problem for the lovely reception staff.
Fantastic views lovely part of the world.
Nothing at all, everything was great.
Myself and my wife had the pleasure of having our wedding at the Higher Trap on good Friday. Overall the entire experience was superb and we would recommend this venue to host your special day. Location - The hotel and surrounding grounds are stunning, we had hoped for an outdoor ceremony but due to the unfavourable weather we instead had an indoor one, despite this the room itself was spacious and wonderfully presented, despite the semi-segregated layout of the Pendle suite the area still feels spacious and it well maintained. Staff - Prior to our wedding all communication with the hotel was quick and easy, our original master of ceremonies left for a new role a couple of months before our wedding, despite the change in staff we had no issues with getting responses or support as needed in preparation for the event. On the day, the staff accredited themselves excellently, special mentions to Shelia and Georgia who made everything run smoothly, the waiting staff was a young team but courteous and hard working. The DJ provided by the venue was also excellent, he was happy to use our playlist with his own additions to fill the gaps and did an excellent job keep the evening atmosphere positive. The only small issue we had was with the "magic mirror" provided in the package, the mirror itself was not working properly and constantly crashed and needed rebooting, a lot of attempts to take pictures sadly did not work, the young man who arrived to disassemble this towards the end of the night was abrupt and rude to myself accusing me of "breaking" the mirror despite the fact myself/nobody was interacting with it at the time, or the fact we reported the issue it was not working properly immediately at the beginning of the evening. Food - The venue served food was good and enjoyed by all the guests, we had 50+ in attendance and received no complaints at all, the tomato soup for starters was particularly good! The venue also accommodated dietary requirements with no issues, a small hiccup with a vegan dessert not arriving was quickly rectified. The venue allowed us to provide our own evening treats such as brownies and crisps alongside the pizza, chips and salad provided by the venue, again the food was well received and we even had spare pizza to take home the following day. We also enjoyed a cooked breakfast at Fitzys the following morning which was warm and tasty. Rooms - We of course had the honeymoon suite, and a number of guests also stayed within the main building and annex further to the side of the hotel, overall the rooms are dated in areas but clean and well provisioned, the contrast with areas which have been modernised such as reception is apparent, but overall the rooms are certainly acceptable. Location - 10/10 Staff - 9/10 Food - 9/10 Rooms - 7/10
Location was fine although access road is not the best although that’s no fault of the hotel
Just the roadway
Everything good
Nothing it was all good
Arrived on the Friday ready for a lovely weekend. Checked in and given wristband but not told where bar/rest etc was, had to ask. Then found out we weren't actually staying in the hotel but in a lodge down a lane and up flight of stairs. Evening meal ordered fish and chips and side order of onion rings as did my husband. Chips were horrible wedges, fish soggy battervand cold mushy peas. Only one portion of onion rings arrived, asked waitress and off she popped then came back to say "it's a double portion ". Rubbish! _ 6 onion rings for £10! Drinks ordered then discovered we'd been given wrong wristband as I'd paid extra to have premium package. Barman had to go sort it out even though I'd previously asked at reception if it was correct as the list of drinks didn't show prosecco etc. Ordered breakfast to the room for following morning which was tasty and lots of choice after a good night's sleep in a comfy bed. Tried to order for our second morning but night porter didn't collect the orders so a mad scramble to get to the restaurant where there was no bread , pastries or juice left. Afternoon tea on the Sunday was nice but the room it was in was far too hot so had to leave before the bingo. Checked out, paid for extras we'd had and left. Just about to drive off to get a phone call saying we hadn't paid, we paid on arrival. Husband had to go kn and show receipt but she said it was pending and we'd have to pay again which we did. Obviously something wrong with their payment system as the extras I paid for on a different bank account wasn't taken from me but my husband today. There were a couple of other issues but suffice to say I won't be returning. Staff are friendly but not entirely competent. Oh and you should inform your customer you have a wedding booked before it's past the time we can cancel.
The view from our room .
Rooms were outdated and felt very old .
Stayed at the hotel for one (Friday) night. Check-in went okay, although we were not informed there was no lift to first floor or where breakfast would be. It was clear a wedding was taken place but we were not advised of this. Loud music prevented any sleep till it finished at 0030, as we could gear every word of each song. Severe black mould in bedroom which we weren't aware of until the morning. Room decor very dated, scratched, and in need of an update. Bathroom taps were both broken and hard to turn off. Shower pressure very low. Cobwebs all over the room. Breakfast was okay, although no fresh fruit or yoghurt. Checked out and when we got to car park, broken glass surrounded our car, so we had to move this or face damaging our tyres. We paid £127 for one nights stay and it wasn't worth half that price. Terrible experience.
Plenty of room in the bedroom and bathroom and location
Couple of minor cleaning and maintenance issues
Room size and bathroom were fine, just a little maintenance needed, clean but the towel rail needs bleeding and a clean
Nothing comes to mind
It’s rural location garden and views Good restaurant facility and choice
Room was small corner room It was a cold night and radiators were not hottest electric convection heater didn’t work
We stayed 2 nights in a executive room. All inclusive ultra food and drink a plenty. Room was lovely in a beautiful setting, staff were friendly, attentive and polite. Holly, Georgia and Amber worked very hard and nothing was too much trouble for them, they are all assets to the team. We had a lovely time in the wild wood hot tub. We will definitely be returning again. Thank you for a lovely stay.
This is a hotel where you either don't care about potholes, or you have a 4x4 in order to get there. Not the fault of the hotel, but be warned! We booked, having seen an advert for a £99 deal for Dinner, Bed & Breakfast online. The deal included a £25 allowance for the evening meal and a bottle of wine. However, we noticed there was a chance to join their free membership club, which gave a £35 meal allowance and a free gift upon arrival. Sorted; we'll join! So, we parked up and made our way into a well lit, open and inviting reception. Sorry, the receptionist claimed, but you only get the £25 allowance. To get the £35 deal, we needed to pay £139 for the stay and we don't get the bottle of wine! After having taken 20min to navigate the website in the first place, is it any wonder that everything was in a muddle?! As a compromise, we were told we could still have the free gift. Anyway, we were told how to get to our room (the annex at the other end of the car park). The room itself was spacious, with plenty of space for clothes storage. There was a well-stocked tray with a kettle, cups and drinking glasses. In the bathroom, there was a bath with a shower attachment, sink, toilet and a heated towel rail - all good so far. But then we start to go downhill. The evening meal was nice but very pricey. We had to wait 20min after having our plates cleared before we were able to get the attention of one of the waiting staff to order dessert. After heading back to our room, the door key didn't work, so I had to return to reception to get it sorted. My husband visited the bathroom but burned his knee on the heated towel rail. We had pulled the blind down at the door, but it is so far away from the door that light came through all night, not helped by having a mirror by the door which reflected the light! Because there was no grab rail on either the wall or on the bath, my limited-mobility husband wasn't able to have a shower. When we checked out, we still did not receive our free gift! Oh, I forgot breakfast. The waitress, Debbie, deserves special mention. She had the buffet laid out, took our orders and served us quickly and efficiently. She brought us ketchup and brown sauce without any fuss or bother and she seems genuinely pleased to be at work. The restaurant looked over the garden area. Obviously this didn't look at its best in February, but I'm sure in the summer months this would be stunning. Sorry, Higher Trapp, but you did not provide a very good service. There was no place on your website in order to ask for a room that is suitable for those with mobility issues.
This is the Black sheep of Lavender hotels. If this had been my first visit to a lavender hotel it would have been my last and I will not return to Higher Trapp. On arrival we were told we were in an annexed. This should have been shown when booking but was not. We had to pay more to stay in the main hotel. The service was awful from ordering food to its arrival was 1 hour and 10 minutes not what you expect from a restaurant with half the tables empty. On booking you are promised a free gift at check in but the staff know nothing about this. I have used all the Lavender hotels and this one is clearly bottom of the list.
Food was good ,loved the location. Liked the seates area outside the restaurant
I am going to be honest. The walls between the rooms at the innkeepers lodge are so thin. I was awoken at 1am by two ladies nextdoor shouting and having an intimate❤️ 1/2hr shall I call it. Not a normal girls night out.! They kept the tv for another 1/2hr after and carried on talking loudly. and giggling. Enjoyed the stay and only criticism
On Saturday 31st January my daughter married at the Higher Trapp Pendle Suite Absolutely perfect day from the start to finish. Hannah Amber Sheila Emily and Joe looked after us so professional everything ran smoothly totally committed to making the whole day special nothing too much trouble. Amazing location beautiful grounds and venue you will not be disappointed.
Rather poor bedside lighting. Too limited a choice of evening meals but what I chose was fine.
Location service food all v good.
Ate at Fitzys restaurant, great service from Sheila, Donna, and Mia. Food was delicious, and I couldn't fault it. Will definitely come again
Room was comfy and warm and ample car parking. Location was beautiful and enjoyed being outside of the town. Breakfast was Ok and the welcome was warm. Would definitely use again.
Nothing
Location and view.
Little bit tired but loved in nonetheless.
Everything everyone very friendly our room was lovely the grounds were beautiful.
Could do with a little fridge in the bridal suite as we ordered bottles and Prosecco and they was warm
Lovely building set in great location
Room was dirty. Heating was not sufficient and radiator did not work in bathroom. Bathroom tired and in need of refurbishment
The staff were all lovely and very helpful.
Stayed in “the lodge”. The entrance hall and stair carpet were very tired and pretty filthy. The room was a non smoking room however it smelt as if it had been a smoking room or vaping perhaps (you could smell the room from the corridor). Luckily we only had one night.
The location, grounds fantastic staff went above and beyond to make you feel welcome.
Nothing
The location
Little run down, our bed room was cold and very dusty , lots of hairs on the bathroom floor and in the bath 😕
Low cost stay for business ,,,, £70 ? [ no breakfast ] room was decent / part refurbished ,,, but still a little dated ! good / safe parking ,,, nice view food / evening menu was poor ... so eat else where !!
stairs carpet to room was worn threadbare ,,,very / easily cheaply replaced ! food menu was poor ... had super food up the road at fence gate !!
Fabulous surroundings, friendly staff, comfortable rooms.
Lovely location and staff
We enjoyed our stay . The food and accommodation was good . There was an issue with the hotel running out of the advertised non alcoholic drinks which put a dampener on our stay and could have easily been rectified by the hotel sending out someone to obtain some . It’s the little things that are important and a simple solution could have resolved it. I would probably book again but would hope that they not only listen but take steps to improve from customer feedback
The Hotel was quite dated, the check in was ok. The Room was large but really cold. We went down for the evening meal and drinks expecting the room to have warmed up on our return. Unfortunately it was uncomfortably Cold,no heating at all in the bathroom and a Luke warm one in the bedroom. We looked for the Duty Manager but was unable to locate one.The food was fine and the drink was ok except the Guest Beer wasn't available. We had a couple of £s knocked off the final bill as a result of the lack of heating. This being said we won't be returning and think a better Hotel is the Answer. The Breakfast was probably the highlight, but overall would not recommend a stay 😔
Great location and value for money for a family room
The beds weren't that comfy but we only stayed one night so it was fine
Location fantastic restaurant Very nice food and service excellent room nice and warm and clean
We booked in on NYD for an overnight stay with dinner, all Inc bar & brekkie included. 3 couples made up our group, our rooms were spacious, comfy, clean & well equipped. Staff throughout are friendly, so helpful, love going back here. Plenty of free parking at the hotel. Good choice on the evening menu, food was great, delicious, well presented. Good choice of drinks too, bar staff excellent. Full English for breakfast was very good, excellent service to your table. Hotel is not brand new so expect a few creaking floorboards, part of the character. We will be back for a short break very soon, lovely hotel with great views & superb staff, thanks for a great stay x
We had our wedding day at the higher Trapp on the 28th. 23 of us stayed the night before and had a meal in fitzys. We all enjoyed our meal, no complaints whatsoever. The morning of the wedding couldn’t have been anymore chilled, myself and my bridesmaids had chance to relax, have our hair and makeup done and with the help of Hannah the wedding planner arrange the room without any hiccups. Some of the bedrooms are in need of some new furniture and some money spending on them but we knew this upon booking so it wasn’t a surprise or issue. The day went without any problems and everything from the ceremony, food and evening party went just as we could have hoped. For the time of the year we were very lucky with the weather, cold and dry, perfect for some outside pictures. Thank you also to Megan for helping us with any questions prior to the wedding. The DJ that the higher Trapp arranged (Barry) was fantastic and played everything we or our guests asked for. Leona & Anthony Taylor
the venue is very pretty.
The hotel room wasn't very clean, the food although mass produced was a little on the poor side. I have been to bigger venues and the food was impecable. The sheet on the pull out bed moved in the night and the mattress was stained really bad - with a not so pleasant brown colour, there was a lot of dust in the room. although rooms were booked together they were not - one was inside the hotel one was in the annex building so made it harder work to be social.
Location, food & staff
Rooms are a little outdated, curtain fell off when drawn ; sink pug didn't work properly
A massive thanks to Hanna and all the staff at the higher trapp hotel. We had the most amazing time with you this Xmas. Yes a few tweaks are required but as you've only been there several months and this was your first Xmas you did amazing. Thanks again. Sharon Gary and the 2 doggys. We made great friends there and already started a WhatsApp group to come fir 3 days next Xmas.
Convenient
Some areas looking tired.
Staff were lovely very friendly and helpful. Staff helped out with any requests. Excellent location for family to stay for a family funeral.
Toilet seat in bathroom, not fixed properly and moved when you sat. Shower screen seal broken so water escaped onto the floor. These are minor points and easily fixed.
We'd booked a group of 12 for a christmas gathering. Arrived at 7pm, to be seated at 7.30pm.not many drinks were bought due to the pricing! Once seated in the extremely wobbly, unsafe seats, we came across the recyclable crackers, no bang! To say we were unimpressed by the main is a definate understatement, for the £32 paid, we expected a bit more on our plates! We aren't move on our chairs in case they collapsed, very creaky and wobbly! The entertainment left a lot to be desired, 2 gentlemen over a certain age, didn't fill us with excitement We all left before 10pm, We just don't think we got our monies worth. Very disappointed!
Location was wonderful. We did not have breakfast,
It would have been good to have room service which was offered re: advertisement, However, when requested we were advised that the hotel was too busy with private function...
