We’d paid in full with a upgrade offered , the room was nice enough but don’t think we got the upgrade as it was a basic room, no slippers as promised , no coffee machine unless they were referring to the kettle and small room at top of the hotel , reception working solo so didn’t answer phone when we called to ask about not being able to connect to wifi so hubby went down to speak to reception.. we got ready for dinner in hotel we Were told opened at 6 and menu showed good vegan options across all courses and an extensive choice of foods , when we got downstairs the girl on duty in restaurant said it’s not open until 6.30 so we waited half hour only to find out no vegan options as it was a buffet service (Saturday evening) and limited choices, one of the main reasons we booked was the food ! Lastly even although we’d paid in full beforehand we had to give a credit card and sign agreement incase of any damages to room during our Stay, I feel this should be mentioned during the booking process .

The location was wonderful.

There are many things I didn’t like hotel. Most importantly, there is very limited elevator service. There’s a flight of about 39 stairs to reach the reception desk k. The elevator from reception to our room was very small and in huge demand due to the large tour groups. In the room, the bathroom was incredibly small, with barely room to stand between the toilet and sink. The rug was worn and curling on a couple of edges. Some tiles on what seemed like new flooring were loose.

Great location, spacious and beautiful apartment.

It was all great for us.

Comfortable enough hotel in a very central location close to the town centre. Good value for money and more than satisfactory for an overnight stay.

As with most Muthu Hotels, the decor is a little dated. But this is reflected in the price paid.

The outside of the property was a bit shabby and dirty looking - steps area etc Glass of wine was pretty expensive

Bedrooms were spotless, spacious and very comfortable. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Front and reception a bit tired and dated. Limited parking, steps at front not disabled friendly. Outside hotel very slippery when wet.

We were in the marina suite, it was outstanding. It was so large and luxurious with an outstanding view. It well and truly exceeded expectations. Great venue that we will definitely recommend.

Staff were very pleasant and obliging bed was very comfortable liked the style of decor good location for shops and bars hotel was nice and clean plenty towels in bathroom nice warm shower suitable price for weekend stay .

Hotel looked tired from the outside possibly a protected building judging by the style maybe not allowed to change too much outside limited parking due to position of hotel oban in general lacks parking none of this would put me off staying again .

NO, NO, NO !!! ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING For a company that markets themselves to provide luxury hotel accommodations, let me just say they must be delusional. Sadly, if you read the reviews here and the sister properties in Oban, it appears to be a them. When mgmt does respond, it is nothing but lip service. First, we booked a suite at $400 night. I would love to know how they define suites because the room had NO AC, and they offered a fan. The rug was matted and full of dirt. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. *Please see pictures. The entrance into the hotel had trash in the parking lot, the drain had plants growing out of it. The lobby was hot and smelled. The carpets in the halls were stained and unswept my entire stay. The shower drains were very slow to drain so I had to turn the water off and on to prevent it from flooding. A problem previous guest had and it obviously wasn't resolved. I encourage you to look at the photos I took of the way the make repairs to the hotel. In my opinion, this hotel needs a multi million dollar repair by a reputable construction company and a interior designer who can actually decorate. If you stay at this or the sister property, don't expect luxury or even mediocre accommodations.

My room had a good view

Low standard for upkeep; leak in hall with buckets catching the water, mold on carpet in hall, trim work shotty, touch up paint not matching. Charge way too much money for the old, run down facility.

The position and within walking distance of railway station. Room was clean, big bed, nice shower and friendly staff. Inside the building was in total contact to first impressions from the outside!

The first appearance, the outside of the building could do with upgrading and painting. No seat in room to relax in the room.

I had particularly emailed to ask if the bed was made up of two singles or a full double after seeing a previous review post. They said it was a full double. It wasn't. Comfortable and fine for sleeping separately, but not if you want to actually sleep side by side across the middle as there is a ridge....so not the most comfortable for our wedding anniversary stay

The rooms are very small and the hotel in general needs upgraded & a refresh on the outside. No air conditioning either.

Rooms were refurbished and clean staff helpful, great location next to pier. Good value for money - cheaper than the Premier Inn. We didn't try the restaurant, but wished we had because nearby cafés etc were not great TBH

Don't be put off by the exterior appearance - it looks tired and in need of a makeover

Location was very good; outside of hotel a bit dated - particulalry at the back. By far the best bit was the exceptional receptionist who moved me from an airless room into one with a functioning window. No questions, no bother - just polite, efficient and helpful.

The back of the hotel needs a lot of work to smarten it up.

awful experience, hotel not clean, asked for a fan for room and the dust blowing about the room was disgusting, food cleanliness is an issue, complained and told couldn't move rooms as in a family room, then on leaving hotel told get refund, still not received and emailed and contacted company numerous times, no refund and manager rude

Room 221 , outside in the alley was the constant hum of a extractor throughout the night and also there must have been a broken pipe externally where the constant noise of what sounded like a waterfall went on non stop. Couldn't say wether this was attached to the hotel or the building opposite, either way it made for lack of sleep throughout the night .

WiFi didn’t work for TV it kept buffering only one bedside cabinet. Outside at entrance wooden decking tiles very slippy and dangerous on stairs and entrance , it was well signed being slippery but an accident waiting to happen more so if you are carrying luggage.

I think the outside of the hotel could do with a paint. Parking was terrible until you knew where the long stay car park is

The frontage is very off putting and the parking VERY limited. The parking opposite on the pier is by meter. Parking in Oban is very difficult with no free carparks. When we arrived at the property I was disappointed by the outside, however the room and corridor where we were housed had been refurbished.

The room was absolutely stunning, Very clean, and high-end. Complementary mini bar drinks and snacks was also a pleasant surprise.

The exterior of the building is showing its age and may under-sell the quality within. Further, some substantial structural repairs will be needed to keep this beautiful historic building alive and in use for the future.

First time staying in this hotel and first impressions were really good when walking in, lovely reception area and also had a lift which was brilliant.

Only thing I didn’t like was the outside area when you walked in and left, there are seats there and found the smell of cigarette smoke unpleasant.

The outside of this hotel is shabby but it's better inside. The room was clean, except above the wardrobe, the en suite has been upgraded and is fine. The hotel is central although there is virtually no parking. Steps leading up to hotel so no good for disabled. The room was not big but acceptable for the price we paid. Please get rid of the shabby rug in the room which looks unclean. We did not eat in the hotel as he seemed unsure about gf. We did love Oban.

Very helpful and friendly staff. My wife is a wheelchair user and the receptionist helped us to access the hotel via the service entrance. The lift from the basement level avoids the stairs at front of the hotel. We had dinner in the Saltburn restaurant and the food was very good, as was the breakfast. The view from the hotel over the harbour is great.

Prices for wine from bar was very expensive but beer (bottled and draught) was reasonably priced. Some paint finishes in room and shower room were a bit rough but everywhere was clean.

The bed was huge! Gorgeous sea view from the room, which was very clean.

The front of the building needs a refresh. My heart sank when I saw it! Thankfully, the quality of the room was much better than the outside suggested, but first impressions count!

Limited parking. There is a public carpark about 5 minutes walk away that is about £5 overnight.

Staff not interested in negotiating a good deal. Would rather have an empty room than lower price to compete with other hotels When checking in reception staff answered phone and kept me waiting. I should have taken priority over an incoming phone call

Location was very handy to everything. View was great, overlooking the boats & sunsets.

Exterior leaves a lot to be desired, but as the saying go: don't judge it from the exterior. The reception area was not expected, tidy & comfortable. One lift & a very wide staircase if you didn't want to use the lift. We were upgraded to a room with a view. Floor was very slippery but it was better than expected. Bathroom was tiny but tidy. Some things could do with fixing. Tap loose as was the toilet roll holder. Otherwise shower was nice. Would we stay again? Yes.
