Room was vert good staff are very friendly .
Nothinh
Bardzo dobrze czuliśmy się w tym hotelu. Ładny widok na rzekę z okna pokoju
Quiet and with a lovely view of the river
Room was very tired. Bathroom like an old swimming pool and the door didn’t shut properly. Dividing door also had a handle that was coming off so we stuck a chair underneath it as felt a little insecure.
The beds were comfy, bed board looked a little tired, room was clean and had all things we needed. The breakfast was great and although there was 2 coach trips there the buffets were kept well stocked, all the hot breakfast items were fresh.
The parking wasn't great and the nearby carpark was highly priced. The hotel advised us to park down the road on single yellows which was good. However had to be up and out by 8 to avoid ticket.
Position of hotel. Close enough to town centre just across the foot bridge. Staff were friendly.
I thought the bed was good but my wife thought it was too firm.
Position on the river
Tolles Frühstücksbüffet.
Das Hotel hat seine besten Tage hinter sich, alles ist etwas abgeschossen.
It was modern and well kept
Rooms could have been cleaned a bit better for the cost. Instructions to get to the hotel could also be better as I had to google them myself, which is no big deal but wasn’t confident until I got there.
Great location. Secure, reasonably priced parking.
Breakfast choices limited and not refreshed during service unless you asked
Staff were great
The bedroom and bathroom were dirty and dated for example at the side of the bed it look like someone had wiped their nose down the wall, other walls were also dirty and stained.
Blisko deptaku nad rzeką
Słaba komunikacja, daleko do stacji metra. Bardzo małe pokoje, trudo się obrócić. Wszystko jest vintage
Comfortable , melenium river view , clean
No water in the room
Good variety of food
Beds were too hard Dining room was occupied every night by a coach party tour Bar area was draughty from air conditioning
Location was great for the conference I was attending
Rooms and public areas are showing signs of wear and tear and in need of modernisation
Location was good
Stayed three days and asked multiple times to access car parl refused even when was space. Rooms in poor condition, poor repairs and run down. Cleaning standards where poor, bar closed 11pm. Staff on reception either werent available or not welcoming interactions from customers.
We really liked the breakfast and the size of the room and that there was a bath in the bathroom, really helped to soothe muscles after walking the city all day. Staff were very helpful and friendly and everything was very clean.
The only issue we had was that one of the lifts didn't go to our floor but both were summoned when you pressed the button, made it a bit difficult to actually get the lift but usually just meant waiting an extra minute or two.
location was excellent .
It wasn’t fridge inside the room.
Very good
No evening meal except for coach tours
Nice bed!
Unfortunately, no parking spots were available.
Clean, friendly, close to facilities
Carpark was full, however we found a carpark nearby that wasn’t far to walk with our heavy bags
Modern, clean, comfortable quiet hotel located overlooking river Tyne along side The Baltic museum and The Glasshouse venue away from city centre
Fabulous location Clean and comfortable room
Terrible air conditioning - not good in height of summer. Bar closed to guests after 11pm! That's rubbish!
The hotel is a little off the beaten in Gateshead but our room was lovely with views directly across the river and close to a bridge for Newcastle's very busy night scene. Breakfast was very functional with almost everything self service so minimal staff which was very clinical. We arrived back at the hotel intentionally to order some room service and watch the England match only to be told that the kitchen was closed because the chef was finished and he locks up all the fridges etc so we missed on our food and the hotel lost revenue. The price was right and it was clean but service was lacking
Room Service available until the time advertised or a note on arrival to say it would not be available so we could make other arrangements.
The location is ideal
Nothing
Good location on bank of river Tyne. Good value for money
Dirty rooms, scuff marks, hairs in bed, rude receptionist
The staff were great and made us feel very welcome.
The window trickle vents had no internal covers so external noise was an issue. Particularly when kids were outside on the pedestrian boardwalk at nighttime with motorbikes.
Staff members friendly room comfortable clean and everything u need
Breakfast could have a bit more variety
Good location across the river from Newcastle city centre. Very comfy beds
Rooms a little tired
Location good. Reception and restaurant clean and light
Toilet area smelled of wee. Also left side of bed smelled of wee. Window didnt open at all Staff not cert friendly on check in as very busy but better on check out
Comfortable bed
Location versus places to walk to locally. Own fault in not booking preferred location
Good quality friendly service on arrival.rooms comfortable.
Slight walk from. Gateshead interchange but buses do run past hotel regularly
Good location
Beds are very comfortable. Room was refreshed during 2 night stay. Great value breakfast - full english, cereal, croissants and jams! Very comfortable temperature/ac in room. Fabulous.
Expensive but was GNR weekend!
Location, very clean and comfortable beds.
Na
Bathroom was old and tired. No biscuits with tea and coffee and no fridge in room. Despite paying for a full breakfast there was only toast and cereal as chef didn't come in
Good location, near to the city
Not good value for money. Prices for the rooms were high due to the Great North Run. Seemed to be running out of food for breakfast on the Sunday morning of the GNR
Location.
Dated room, needed repairs. Price - extortionate for GNR weekend with no breakfast included. Lack of breakfast provision when arrived at 9am - no bacon, no pastries left, no coffee in machine. Waitress had no rush in her prioritising things that didn’t need replenishing like orange juice.
Great location, easy access to Newcastle Via the footbridge
It was great although we found a n old chip on the floor - cleaning could be better
Very nice room. But did have as river view one. Parking in limited and NOT included so there is an additional charge per day to park next to the hotel. Depending on your point of view you may consider food and drink options in the hotel to be expensive.
Decor is a little tired in places. A lick of paint would make a world of difference. But clean and tidy. But beds and the important stuff all good.
The bed was ok that was it
The bar , the breakfast was poor , not value for money
Location was very good
Nothing
Quiet location Staff super friendly and accommodating
Little bit of a further walk from city centre but actually liked this as it was quiet on a Saturday evening
The Staff were friendly
Bathroom was in poor condition, mirror stained water damage and what looks like mould behind the toilet, bathroom was in urgent need of a referb.
Tolle Lage, direkt am Fluss und in City-Lauf-Nähe. Personal super freundlich und hilfsbereit.
Hotel in on the Tyne and a stones throw from metro and some good restaurants
Breakfast was shame full, very sparse and took ages to replenish , hotel was at near capacity I believe as it was the weekend of the great north run. Lots of people moaning that they couldn't and didn't get food. Added to which the hotel hiked the price £460 instead of the normal £170, and I believe £16.50 is for the breakfast,,,,,,, its not worth a £5. Staff were extremely disorganised in the kitchen restaurant. We ended up one day clearing, cleaning and taking cutlery from other tables. We found ourselves on a trip to tesco to purchase toilet paper and the stuff provided is worse than useless, some of the cheapest available. Re the bathroom, the door had swollen or dropped and couldn't be closed without slamming or using quite a lot of force. The bath I suspect had leaked at some point and had metal filler which was unfinished and rough, this was around the plug hole and where I had my foot to shower, The skirting at the end of the bath was swollen and had residue of black mould as did the sealant around the taps. Make sure you get an external room, we faced the courtyard, and could frequently hear a member of the kitchen staff, in kitchen whites whilst having a cigarette , coughing his lungs up. We also had a bin/refuse lorry arrive at very early hours, with beeping reversing signal and then empty what we believe was recycling into the lorry seemed to go on for at least 10 mins, and by early I mean still pitch black outside. The building in my humble opinion doesn't warrant 4 stars On a positive the reception staff were extremely helpful. My advice stay elsewhere
Great location, quiet and with car parking
Comfy beds
Had to get room key cards reset 4 times in two days
We stayed as my husband was running the great north run. The morning of the run the hotel supplied water gels and fruit for the runners. What a lovely touch.
Location
Parking! Spaces are few.
- Quiet waterside location. - About 10mins walk to Gateshead centre/ station, and 15mins walk to Newcastle Central station - Very close to start line of Great North 5K - Good breakfast - Polite & friendly staff - Good sized room with both Air conditioning and an openable window. - Good water pressure in the shower
- Whilst a good size, the bed wasnt very comfortable. - Room door did need to be shut firmly for locking mechanism to kick in. Not ideal for trying to avoid disturbing other guests - This is a fairly new-build hotel, and yet the electricians/ Architects chose not to put any charging sockets at the Bedside cabinets (I am an Architect and I was putting sockets next to bedsides in first year Uni in the 1990s!). The closest was on the bathroom wall roughly in line with the centre of the bed. All other sockets were next to the TV. If you want yer phone on yer bedside table to yer bed make sure you pack your extra long cables
River view was lovely and the bed was comfy. We stayed here due to running the Great North Run and it was a lovely touch from the hotel to put out free water, running gels and sweets on the morning of the race!
Room was tired and needed re-decorating and the bathroom needed refreshing. Windows were also filthy on the outside.
Location, good decor throughout
Nothing
Clean and friendly, helpful staff. Excellent breakfast
Nothing
Comfortable and fair price
Parking was a pain
Great parking and location
Uncomfortable bed bedding was clean but bad fitting some staff very in friendly bathroom was very tired and not very clean
Location was nice and close to city and river walks.
Attentiveness of staff wasn’t always good. I arrived and noticed staff chatting to other guests in lounge. She noticed me, but when finished chatting she walked away … picked up a pen from the floor … took it out the back … went to the restaurant area and eventually returned to reception and asked me if she could help. Car park is too small for the hotel and the alternative locations are either inconvenient or expensive.
Location was ok staff were pleasant
Hotel needs updating bathrooms were old definitely needed doing paying extra for car parking
Ruhige, jedoch zentral die Lage und fantastischer Ausblick auf die Millennium Gateshead Bridge
Für uns war alles okay während des Aufenthalt
We liked the location next to the river and a short walk to the centre of town. Loved the strong water flow of the shower.
Not much really… a small fridge would have been great
Perfect location. Nice staff
The rooms have paper-thin walls. The couple next door were having ridiculously loud sex and left the TV on until 3 in the morning.
Very helpful staff Clean rooms Nice and dark at night . Had the best nights sleep . Big car park .
Nothing , it was fantastic.
Staff were friendly. Bed was pleasant enough
Air con did not work properly at all, so was too hot The trickle vents in the windows let in a lot of noise, luckily the road was closed outside Curtains weren't great at blocking light, very light overlap. Very basic feel hotel, surprised leonardo would put their name on this.
Room with good view
Nothing
The rooms where comfortable and clean
The parking there is not enough spaces
Very nice and clean room. Very close to quayside area.
Small parking lot for all the guests cars. We had to park by the road as suggested by receptionist.
Location in particular
Nothing
Great location, very comfortable. Room was spacious.
Nothing.
Mooi gelegen op Wandelafstand van centrum maar in een rustige wijk - heel vriendelijk personeel
Onvoldoende parkeerruimte bij hotel - en dure parking ernaast waardoor je de auto verder weg moet zetten
Had room only and everything met our expectations
Location and price
The bed was comfy and there was little to no noise disturbance.
A truly good hotel in Gateshead would help you forget you're in Gateshead. Unfortunately this hotel fell short. The room felt like it needed a good refurbishment, especially in the bathroom, the walls had nothing on them and were bare. Carpet was dirty and the bathroom was hardly spotless. Did not feel at all like a four star hotel. More like a 2.
My room was really spacious, and had a lovely view of the river.
Reception felt quite understaffed, you had to wait a while if you wanted to speak to anyone. But when you got to them the staff were very friendly.
All very nice and friendly
Nothing
Clean and tidy
Lack of parking. I had to park out on the road. No USB sockets in room.
Staff at reception were nice and helpful, and the room was okay for the price.
Location but the was my own fault I didn’t realise it was on the Gateshead side of the Quayside
Great breakfast. Clean comfortable room.
Great location with friendly staff
Nothing
Good Rooms at a reasonable price. Breakfast great too.
Nothing
clean quiet and good breakfast
nothing
Friendly staff, comfy bed, great location and view, came for our anniversary and they gave us a free room upgrade and 2 free drinks. Food all tasted nice.
Price and selection of the breakfast wasn't the best
We had a family room even though we were just a couple, massive room situated on the corner of the building
Unfortunately we prefer a harder mattress, so a few aches and pains when we got up
Location. Price . Comfy bed
Chair in my room was sliding down. All appliances been pat tested 4 years ago Limited parking space
The position and the cleanliness
Nothing everything was excellent
It's was good value for money and the breakfast was good. The room had everything we needed.
The room was quite tired and could do with updating. The hotel could do with some updating also.
Room was acceptable and bed comfortable.
Parking facilities awful. Bathroom old and badly needing refurbished. Staff ok but not overly helpful
I got a good deal with discount through booking.com
Paying to park the car in the hotel car park
Great location. Good breakfast.
-
Good location with parking
Fire Alarm went off at 2 am
Habitación muy limpia y personal muy amable
Armario pequeño y no había frigorífico
Convenient, comfortable location at a good price
Bathroom was looking very tired and rather worn
Jess the staff on front desk immediately put me and my partner at ease by fixing my error with the dates of my booking. saved me 100 pound from booking.com and made it so seamless and hassle free. Super polite and helpful staff through the 3 days we stayed and loved the room for the value. clean and comfortable. the pillows are a little harder side for me but apart from that excellent and will stay again soon.
pillows were a little on the harder side.
Location was good for what we wanted to do. Breakfast was good and staff were friendly and helpful.
I asked for extra pillows for the room and was given four extra pillowcases. When I asked again for extra pillows I was told there was none available due to hotel being full. What hotel does not have extra pillows for hotel guests. Unbelievable!!!
Everything was excellent!
I have stayed here numerous times before and it my go to place when staying in Newcastle. Its comfortable, decent to very good value to stay depending on how busy. Its close to Quayside and City centre (10 mins walk to Tyne Bridge) so close walking distance to attractions but very nice and quiet. Great views if you get river carpark view. Consistently friendly helpful staff.
Only downside is it can be hard to get onsite parking. Need to be early or lucky. Is on street parking close but need to mave car by 8am. Parking next door for night in the Baltic cap park can prove expensive.
For the price we paid, we thought the hotel was perfect. Lovely clean rooms, clean bathroom, hairdryer. Comfortable bed, spacious room, iron etc, kettle. Staff were all so lovely.
If I had to be super critical, could do with more plug sockets, however I always travel with an extension lead so didn’t effect me.
Location and common areas well Maintained
Bedrooms a bit tired. Disabled access bathroom not suitable for wheelchair users
I liked the cleaness
On checkout we had to wait few minutes before the staff at reception even realised we were there. We said a big loud 'Good morning' they just ignored us for minutes... that was quite rude.

What guests love
Areas to consider
Cleanliness
5.5/10Mixed reports: several guests praised clean/tidy rooms, but multiple serious cleanliness complaints (mouldy bathroom, stained towels, used condoms behind bed, possible bed-bug bites) reduce the score.
Service
9/10Generally very positive: staff repeatedly described as friendly, helpful, attentive (early check-in, breakfast staff prompt); a few check-in prioritisation issues noted but overall strong service sentiment.
Location
9.5/10Consistently praised: excellent quayside/river location, great for walking into the city and scenic views — a standout positive across reviews.
Room Quality
7.5/10Mixed: several guests enjoyed generous, comfortable rooms with good finishes and river views, but some rooms described as tired or having maintenance issues (bath falling apart, broken locks, keys not working).
Amenities
7/10Mixed to slightly negative: good in-room tea/coffee provisions and on-site parking (limited), but complaints about overpriced bar drinks, charged/missing fridge and limited/ misleading parking information.
Value for Money
7.5/10Mixed: some guests felt they got a good deal (especially with online breakfast booking or Sunday rates), while others called out poor value (extra charges for amenities, pricey breakfast/bar).
Food and Beverage
8/10Mostly positive for breakfast (several comments calling it excellent), but some mention that breakfast and bar drinks are pricey and the bar experience was not great for all guests.
Overall Experience
10/10Overall sentiment leans positive: many guests said they would stay again, praised location and staff, and described enjoyable stays despite notable isolated cleanliness/maintenance issues — overall stays were frequently described as very good.
