Peaceful location away from the town, still only 10 mins on a bike (which they rent) Robert, the owner is a personable and helpful guy willing to go above and beyond. Really made our experience special We booked for one night and ended up staying 4 nights (including one night camping on a nearby remote island using a tent Robert lent us, and he helped us catch a fishing boat across) Brekky is tasty, proper pancakes. And they sell cold beers which is a nice compliment to the view... which although I mention it last, might be the best part

The view hotel is worth staying in Padang alone for. Location is perfect, service is excellent and above all the staff is simply fantastic. Robert the owner goes out of his way to accomodate all your needs. This means not just providing you with solid info but driving you around to introduce the best spots around this cool city. Recommended!

Was very clean, good view, nice staff. Especially Robert, he was fantastic and instrumental in getting us ferry tickets and getting to the ferry for a cheap price and on board. His first language is English so that was helpful for us. They also got us a good free Brekky before we left early. Bathrooms and comfort exceptional. Tea coffee hot and cold water available

Was a bit high class for me and a fair walk from the little town where’d I’d rather be instead of feeling so separate from the locals who were super friendly. The beach and food options also much nicer at the town then what is near the view

The family was very kind although we didn’t meet Robert. The guys were so nice because I forgot my AirPods and they came to the ferry to me to bring them. You wouldn’t experience that in Germany ;)

Our stay here was amazing, Robert, Adam and another staff (forgot to ask his name) were so nice and friendly and it makes us feel like home.

We stayed at The View Padang for one night after a long flight and had a wonderful experience. The place really lives up to its name — the view is amazing! The owner was incredibly friendly and even helped us book our ferry tickets to the Mentawai Islands. Everyone working at the hotel was so kind and welcoming — they picked us up from the airport and made us feel right at home. We had lots of fun with them and truly appreciated their warm hospitality. Highly recommended!

- Friendly staff on site - Comfortable bed - Good A/C - Incredible view from the communal area - The queen room with balcony which we upgraded to the second night was much better with beautiful view from the balcony - Lots of useful services such as ability to rent motorbike from hostel, booking ferry tickets to Mentawai islands, taxi service into town (although the taxi service was excessively expensive!!! We were told it would cost 50k rupiah one way to town and shared the car with another group of 3 tourists (so 10k per person), however both groups were charged 50k so taxi = 100k!!). After that we used grab taxi service and paid around 30k each time.

- We were a little disappointed as we had read amazing reviews about the view re: helpfulness of staff in terms of getting information about activities Padang and onward travel however unfortunately Robert the owner was on holiday in Europe when we stayed so we had to liaise with him via WhatsApp rather than face to face contact which we really dislike (although has been the norm throughout our trip in Sumatra). The staff on site were unable to offer any advice and advised us to text Robert whenever we needed anything. Robert did send us a very detailed and helpful text message with information but we missed the face to face interaction. - The shared bathroom was dirty and there were ants all over the sink constantly - The whole place feels a little run down and was generally a little dirty - Our first bedroom did not have any windows - We upgraded to a better room for our second night however it was not clean and ready for us to use until 6pm (despite us being the only guests in the hotel that day and the previous occupants checking out at 6am!) - We used the hostel laundry service however the laundry was not put on until the evening before we left and so was still damp when we got it back (even though we had given them our clothes over 24 hours before that and the weather had been beautiful all day!) - Breakfast was not great Overall it was a fairly pleasant stay and staff were really friendly and genuinely appeared to want to spend time chatting with us which was really nice, however, we felt that our experience did not match what we had read in previous reviews which was disappointing.

Staff really friendly, robert sort me out with trasnport and ferry (which was great) and the view is great!

The toilets very dirty, they don't provide soap (I asked for one). The Matress was really bad and sheets were stained. The english of the staff is very very limited although they are great guys. Breakfast is more than basic, just toast with a bit of eggs.

Nous avions pris une chambre avec une sdb privative finalement nous la partagions avec d'autres. Et pour la chambre aucune évacuation d'air, seulement une climatisation mais 0 vmc donc une odeur de champignons etait très présente à cause de l'humidité. Nous ne recommandons pas.

Pobyt w the view Padang był bardzo dobrym pomysłem! Robert okazał się niezwykle pomocnym gospodarzem – dał nam wiele cennych rad i kontaktów, a także pomógł zorganizować transport do kolejnego miejsca. Dzięki temu nasza podróż była o wiele łatwiejsza i przyjemniejsza. Pokoje były czyste i wygodne, a łazienki zadbane i dobrze utrzymane. Piękny widok z tarasu na ocean. Zdecydowanie polecam to miejsce każdemu, kto szuka przyjaznej atmosfery i wsparcia podczas podróży.

Basic room, but comfy beds. Our bathroom was across the floor. sadly our room had no window, cause the view is great. Robert and his staff are most helpful, we can really recommend to stay here. Breakfast is simple but ok, if you only stay a few days. There are amazing jungles walks nearby. The hotel can arrange anything, from airport pick up, to ferry tickets. Best place to stay before going to the Mentawais

Although you were able to walk into the village to eat or pick up basic supplies, Padang itself was a taxi ride in.

De Engelse eigenaar woont lange tijd hier en is erg leuk om via hem wat meer te begrijpen van de gewoonten hier. Uutzicht prachtig. Lopen naar strand is 20 minuten. Interessant te zien hoe de mensen er wonen. Verwacht geen wit zandstrand. We konden bij eb lopend naar het eilandje.

I liked it so much I extended my stay. Robert and Azi were so helpful. They arranged transport to and from the airport and planned excursions. The air con is cold. The shower is hot and the view is incredible. My favorite stay in Sumatra.

The excellent service started even before we arrived. The View helped us book our Ferry and picked us up at the airport for a really good price. Then when we arrived we were blown away by the view. They do have ice cold beers. The staff took time to give us amazing recommendations and we even shared a magical dinner together. Thereaf the next time they took us to our ferry. Stopped for ATMS. The full package. We highly recommend this place. And thank you View!

The staff are extremely friendly and very helpful. The location is wonderful, being so close to Padang and the Mentawai Ferry, although the beach is not recommendable. Everything is kept quite clean.

The beaches nearby are NOT recommended.

Excellent service, we were picked up from the airport with surfboards and driven to the accommodation. Beautiful location and view, we had a shared bathroom with hot water showers. Service was excellent, and we had an early breakfast prepared for us before we were driven to the fast ferry to the Mentawai islands.

The guys that run this are very nice and trustworthy and can arrange anything you need.

The staff (Zi, Jett and Fares) are so friendly and helpful, organising transport to and from the airport as well as storing a bag for us as we traveled to the Mentawai Islands for a week. The view over the sea is beautiful and the dog Rocky is so sweet as well

Lovely stay with the best view in Padang! Robert our host was just a really nice guy and helped us out where he could, he picked us up at the ferry port and brought us to the airport. Little Walk/ Hike Downtown to be very honest, it's not a sort of 10-20 minutes walk downtown, you really do need local transport down and up to Panang City... but the prices are more than affordable, and very often the owner is going downtown. SCOOTER: 12.000 - 15.000 CAR: 25.000 - 40.000 HITCHHIKING: 0 - 10.000

We loved staying at the view, its beautifully situated on the hill and the family that owns it is so kind and helpful!

Very beautiful and tranquil spot just outside of Padang city. The view here is unbeatable and the staff is hands down amazing. Rooms are standard but very try comfortable and clean. Owner and staff are very friendly and happy to accommodate you with all your needs. They will give to advise on places to go and see around Padang or help you to organise your trip. Best thing is to have a nice cold beer after a long day and enjoy the stunning sunset.

A warm welcome from Azi who also took me on a quick tour of the town to see some old buildings and eat sate. The accommodation was basic but clean and of course the view is amazing.

Rob and his staff were very helpful and informative, vital when staying somewhere for your first time. Room was simple, yet clean, comfortable and quiet. A great value stay with the most helpful hosts.

The property is a bit remote from town which can make access a little more difficult. But it makes it very quiet which is nice.

The view was great, it's a very nice place to relax. Robert was helpful with advice and information for the local area.

It's a bit out of town and getting a cab could be challenging. Local staff did not explain breakfast options well.

Amazing sea view

Robert and his team were all very welcoming and helpful, providing advice on what to do in the local area and making us delicious pancakes every morning, including at 5am on the day of our departure. The room we were in had the most comfortable mattress and pillows, and the quietest air con. Both our room and the shared spaces were very clean, and importantly there was a water dispenser, with both cold and hot water available. The whole guesthouse had a lovely homely vibe and an excellent outdoor seating area with the best views to the ocean and the sound of birds and monkeys. It’s pretty much surrounded by a jungle. We spent 3 days just chilling on the shared terrace. Vegetarian options for lunch and dinner were limited in the local area, but Robert gave us a list of recommended restaurants from which we were able to order food to the guesthouse. The transfer to the airport was safe and convenient.

Excellent location about 10 minutes away from Padang. After spending some time in the traffic of Padang, it is refreshing to get there and admire the ocean from the terrace. The family running the business is lovely and willing to help with anything needed. The price is very honest. 5 minutes walk from the property there's a nice bar with a restaurant.

With the the View you get loads of information from Robert. Calm, relaxed and quiet would be pro's compared to the city options
