I stayed here before, and it was a great experience, so this time I booked again. Was upstairs, with a dog, wasn't brilliant, as people walked past our window all evening. However, the grounds are dog friendly, so we could just pop out easily. Staff were very helpful and accommodating for both meals. Food was very tasty, a good dining experience. The shower room was very nicely fitted out, good shower. Bed comfortable.
Being upstairs with a dog
Nice clean room, breakfast was good.
Mattress was too soft for me, but that's my persona preference.l
Clean and well maintained. Staff polite and very helpful. Nothing too much trouble
Authentic without being grubby and looking tired. The owner had kept its charm but made upgrades inkling with the property. Just class surroundings
Clean and well presented, great value for money.

Nice, comfortable and clean rooms
The venue was exactly what we needed as a group of us were staying. It had a lounge area that we could all mix in. The bar was great and the dining facilities excellent. Food was incredibly good. Staff were amazing, especially the receptionist and lily the bar manager who managed to sort out a booking error on my part without fuss and extremely satisfactorily.
Nothing not to like
Decent hotel to stay at. Comfy bed and plenty of parking
There was a distinct dog smell in our room. Perhaps they could separate the rooms that allow dogs from those that don’t. After all, not everyone enjoys the smell of dogs.
The location was great very welcoming and pleasant staff. The room was very nice and very clean and spacious. Breakfast was lovely and hot.
There was nothing to dislike.
Really located for the nearby wedding venue that we were attending.
Some things that we take for granted in most other hotels were either not there or not fully operational. For example, there were no bottles of water in the room and no internal/room-to-room phone system. One ironing board and iron seemed to have to cater for the whole site. WiFi was weak (we were in a courtyard room). The in-bath shower unit could have done with wall-mounted rails for safety, along with a non-slip mat to stand on. None of these items were potential deal breakers, but took the edge off our overall enjoyment. On the plus side, all staff members we dealt with were very welcoming and courteous; we had a mix-up at one of our breakfasts, but when this was brought to their attention, it was handled swiftly and efficiently. The place was clean, the hot water was hot and the shower was of reasonable pressure. On the whole, it was good value for money for a stay of a couple of days or so.
Location
Not very organised
Clean and well prepared,
Bathroom access was a little restricted internally, but clean and it was great to see a bath that filled quickly
Great location just outside Scaborough
Nothing
Lovely building, staff great, very friendly.
Enjoyed our stay location to Scarbprpugh excellant food very good
No soundproofing children crying from 3.30am in next room
Lovely location .friendly staff. Lovely room
Good location for visiting Scarborough. Good parking facilities.
Room 1 noisy. Pillows were not comfortable. Ordered 2 different meals at dinner from the menu. Neither were available.
It was in a good location for us visiting friends who live in Scarborough

Clean and comfortable, and peaceful
Having to go home !
Nice location with easy access to main roads. Good size rooms and excellent breakfast options
Not the property fault but noisy kids in neighbouring rooms
In a quiet location, great bar and restaurant, clean and staff very friendly, shop and pub in the village and short drive to Scarborough as well as good walks locally, great steak pie and breakfast!
Breakfast ever so slightly over priced for what you get
Clean room and friendly staff

Very friendly owner and staff, Lovely clean and comfortable room. Good value for money
Easy access, car parking close by, not far from Scarborough itself, staff so helpful and friendly
Everything was great. The food was exceptional and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Very comfortable room which was easy to access. The young man who showed me to my room was very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful property and grounds, lovely location, excellent breakfast, staff couldn’t do enough for you

Beautiful location and absolutely gorgeous rooms! The breakfast was also amazing.
Friendly staff in all areas. Comfortable public areas. Dinner was good & so was breakfast.
Whilst the room in general terms was acceptable the bathroom is now looking tired. The bathroom floor area needs a proper clean, particularly in the corners beside the vanity unit & behind the toilet. Mattresses are now rather tired & very soft, offering little support.
It tranquil location and friendly staff and how clean it was nothing was too much trouble
There wasn't anything I disliked
Ok
Everything it was gorgeous location, fantastic service and the room was beautiful. We will return such a gorgeous place.

I loved the location, the old world charm the outdoor spaces were just beautiful. The spaces around the bar was open and spacious. The room had everything I needed for my stay, very clean and tidy thoughout this was in the room and Corridors. The staff were very polite and welcoming and nothing wasn't a problem for them. Me and my friend had breakfast there too and it was wonderful good selection of Continental and cooked breakfast options.
Nothing to write here.
Great room on ground floor, Good breakfast, Friendly staff.
No problems.
Very friendly, clean and lovely area. Nice beer garden, plenty of room for the children to play and the entertainment in the conservatory was lovely.
Breakfast was fine for everyone apart from my Grandson who has coeliac disease. I asked before booking breakfast what was available and safe for him to eat. However at breakfast he was given a frozen loaf of GF bread with no means to defrost it. I asked for a couple of slices to be defrosted which they did but it took about 15 mins. The bacon (GF)and sausage (not GF) were in the same tray although separated there was only one set of tongs for both items They did make him a lovely hot chocolate which he loved but served it with a biscuit containing gluten on the side. The staff were lovely and tried their best but there was a very distinct lack of allergen awareness.
In a quiet spot but handy for Scarborough
Nothing
The staff was lovely and the location was perfect for what we wanted. There was extra entertainment in the village as it was the scarecrow festival. So lots to see.
Was not told about the fob key and we thought we were locked out. Breakfast at the weekend is a shambles in my opinion. Constantly waiting for items of food to be replaced, no signage where plates are. Food was cold and the coffee machine leaked constantly.
Close to Scarbourgh easy car journey into town lovely setting everything around you would need Nice quiet location plenty of parking on site accessible from all directions and well signposted easy to find
Very squeaky floor boards inside the property, depending on what room you get - no air con no fans, couldn’t open window only tiny top one, on a v hot night. Evening food don’t que up at the wait here for a table sign as you will be there all night, as I was/ that’s for breakfast only ! Get a menu order at the bar !
Breakfast was very good.
The evening meal was disappointing, and the beds were too old, and the springs twanged in the night. The mattresses need updating.
The lodge is set in a nice location. The style was very nice and very clean. We had a late lunch and found it to be very good with nice portions. The room was clean and well set out. We liked that breakfast was offered to be booked at check in and support in getting an iron and board actioned quickly. We liked the snug tho didn't see this until we left this morning. Helpful information regarding taxis to Scarborough.
We arrived 30mins earlier than the check in at 15:00 and though we understood that we may not be able to check in we weren't advised of facilities so had to work this out ourselves. Breakfast staff had signs to advise to 'wait to be seated' but no one was manning the area so this felt like a long time. Then when someone did they just said to sit wherever you wanted. Which at 9am was limited due to used tables or over sized tables. The tables for four in the first room were too close to each other so you could only use one side of the table feeling restricted. We did try to resolve this but couldn't due to other guests. The main issue really was that Room 27 has an issue with the flooring from the room on the first floor above it. Every step is heard with a loud creek of the floor boards. This repeatedly woke us up due to simple movements of someone above us. We did speak to a house keeper about it and they advised them to 'tip toe' in the room so as not to wake anyone below and it has been mentioned. This wouldn't stop me booking again but I would request an upper floor if this is a known issue.
Had lunch it was fabulous. Steak & Ale pie with mash carrots & peas, Superb. Bed super comfy had a good night sleep!
Lovely hotel - ideal for open air theatre. Visited for a gig and only a short uber away. Beautiful setting, lovely staff and spacious room
The building has a lot of character and is lovely. Great size bedroom with four poster bed, which was very comfortable! Food in restaurant was excellent. Friendly staff. Would definitely stay again 🙂
Floors are very creaky, but you’d expect that from an old building! Toilet lid needs replacing (room 11), room door handle loose….
We loved the location of the hotel. It was set in lovely grounds and there was a big area at the front of the hotel where you could sit out and a terrace area. Our family room was perfect, a good size and we had a double bed and two single beds which was perfect. My little dog was made to feel very welcome by all the staff and that was very nice.
nothing
Location ideal for Open Air Theatre in Scarborough only 10-15 taxi ride. Staff great - very helpful and friendly. Breakfast lovely. Rooms and en suite were very clean and bed comfortable.
26 degrees outside and the bedroom was like a sweat box. The radiator in the bathroom appeared to be on a timer so was on and off all the time. Just a transome window to open in the bedroom which was very ineffective. Which lead to a very uncomfortable nights sleep.
Appearance, cleanliness, location
A mini fridge would have been beneficial but it didn’t put me off the property
It was central to what we needed and the rooms were catered to what we needed for our party great value for money very clean staff friendly
All was good
arriva breakfast for the money very poor ..tinned fruit cocktail with Cherry's !!!!!l
staff.......shocking ..at the end of the night they all sat in the bar bad mouthing the night manager. and drinking shots .......
Clean, spacious, parking, friendly staff.
Room has poor noise insulation so you can be disturbed by others if you’re unlucky with your neighbours!
Amazing. Beautiful setting grounds where lovely
Not a thing wrong with it
Well located for the area. Clean &spacious. Staff were very friendly.
Rooms have very thin walls so can be noisy depending on who’s nearby & what time they get up/go to bed. WiFi didn’t work in our room - too far from router.
Had a warm welcome from staff. Room was lovely and bed was very comfortable. We didn't have the breakfast (which could be paid for on arrival) as we had an early start. We had a meal in the bar though - some good options. Food was hot and tasty. There was parking available at the hotel.
Great family room clean and spacious
We had prior knowledge of intermittent WiFi in our room (room 24) as the room was in the courtyard away from the main part of the hotel but in fact there was no internet at all so the tv was a little redundant. Also, you could hear anyone in the room above walking across the floor making quite a loud creaking which in our case was 6am. But despite this we still enjoyed our stay
Looks beautiful, gorgeous room, staff amazing

The young staff were great
Bedroom walls a little thin
Baby Guinness and the staff
East Ayton Lodge is a very comfortable and spotlessly clean hotel. We have stayed here 3 times now and enjoyed every time.
Location great staff wonderful very friendly
Quiet
Mattress could do with changing very uncomfortable. Tv wasn’t working had factory settings on the screen making it difficult to watch.
Very friendly and full of character

Friendly welcome, quiet location. This was my second stay and I had no issue with the cleanliness of my room this time. It is good that the rooms in the main house are dog free. Pets are only welcome (for a fee) in the courtyard rooms. People like me with pet allergies need to have confidence they are really getting a pet free room.
In hotter weather a medium thickness duvet is really too much. This hotel is not alone in this, so I have learnt and bring my own very thin summer duvet!

Very friendly staff, clean room
Lovely quite location
Room very dusty, had 4 poster bed and the permit is thick with dust and all services were think in dust, not just a little Dated and needs a revamp Didn’t have any towels in the bathroom Walls not very sound proof heard everyone in the next rooms and when walking down corridors heard people in the rooms It appeared to be lots of young people running it, which is not a problem if they have a leader giving guidance but none seemed present? They were pleasant and polite enough just needed direction
The location, the easy access with plenty of parking space.
We were in a downstairs lodge room and any movement in the lodge above sounded like a herd of elephants. This disturbed our sleep in the night. After looking at the menu in the room, we decided to eat at the Lodge. We booked a table and were disappointed with; the new menu, the lack of menu choices especially for people with dietary requirements, poor quality of food, and not even hot when eventually brought to the table. Luckily we didn't book a breakfast if the evening fayre was anything to go by. The shower gel was empty during our stay, luckily we had taken our own. We brought our grievances to the staff at check out, which was received with very little interest, or enthusiasm. Just an "oh sorry"- "goodbye". We were expecting a bit of old world charm, as the main building was quite grand. But overall a disappointing stay.
Staff were lovely
Bedroom clean but a bit dated
Location was beautiful. Lovely woodland walks. Peaceful and tranquil. A lovely stay.
Really clean and comfortable. Felt secure at night and the breakfast was gorgeous. Xx
Lovely location friendly staff Room was fantastic bed great . Bathroom met all expectations and towels were loverly.
Lack of WiFi could not connect so spoiled a perfect stay
Lovely place to stay. Good facilities. Excellent reception staff
We have stayed here twice before in the main hotel. The outdoor space is very well kept and the garden area is lovely.
Nothing to dislike but wouldn’t choose to stay in the courtyard rooms again. The guests upstairs and adjacent were incredibly noisy and inconsiderate. The noise disturbed us on both nights which was frustrating.
Absolutely Everything
Absolutely nothing
3rd stay here, we love the quirky feel of the courtyard rooms. Not a standard hotel and you can open the door for fresh air, not just a corridor. Staff are friendly and helpful, Rob on two out of 3 occasions of us staying her has spoken to us, asked us about our stay etc and spoke to us about why we were visiting etc.
I do have a few of grumbles, not massive complaints. But, I have made the suggestion of a fan in each room, we’ve stayed 3 times and had to ask for one each time, and are usually met with ‘if we have one spare’ (they always have had). This stay, I thought the parking situation was not great, and staff on reception actually advised us to ‘park on the street it’s free parking’, I don’t leave my cars on the street at home, let alone somewhere I don’t know. Also on this stay, we found that the breakfast was nowhere near as nice as our previous 2 visits. Buffet service this time rather than a served breakfast, and was disappointing. The rooms could do with some TLC, some new TV’s (always a faff to get them working properly) and the bathrooms could do with some attention (grouting etc).
Ruhig gelegen, sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter. Wir hatten ein Zweibettzimmer mit Hund, was sehr geräumig war. Vielfältiges und leckeres Frühstück. Tolle Außenanlagen (Garten usw)
Staff were friendly.
Housekeeping very poor - for £185 per night bed was not made at all during our 4 night visit, nor were the waste bins emptied. We had to go to reception to ask for toilet rolls. First day of breakfast was a disaster as bacon, sausage and black pudding was so hard it was inedible. We stuck with scrambled egg for the rest of our stay because of this and had we not paid for four nights in advance would have eaten elsewhere. Twice asked for fried egg which did not materialise. Mattress on bed was like a ploughed field and we had to ask reception for assistance.
The food in the restaurant in the evening was verry good plenty of choices.
The room stank very strongly of dogs carpets need shampooing
Lovely hotel. Great facilitkes
EV charger was available but the same car was Parkes there throughout my stay without charging in the morning. Which was frustrating
Lovely stay. Poor breakfast which we paid an additional charge for. Selection of cereals and juices as well as toast. However the hot food was in Bain Marie’s covered over with foil for us to help ourselves but these were cold. I had to ask the kitchen to poach me an egg. Very disappointing. Lovely place to stay and very clean. We would stay again but definitely would not order breakfast.
Lovely outdoor space in the gardens
Beautiful period property in a lovely peaceful village location but in easy reach of all Scarborough’s attractions. Tge hotel is set in a beautiful garden and has tge feel of an old English country manor. The decor is in keeping with the period and of the property which is really clean and tidy.
Slight hum from a boiler or electrical instalment disturbed my partners sleep ( but not mine )
Comfortable bedroom
Fantastic hotel just a little to far away from Scarborough
Slight problem with the room having a double bed when I had booked a twin room but all sorted very promptly
It’s locations lovely food in the restaurant a peaceful place to stay
The place was beautiful and a lovely location. The rooms were very comfortable and clean.
I think the beds could be up dated.
Very pleasant, friendly staff
Wobbly bed?
location was fantastic nice and quiet gorgeous room
we only stayed one night will return for a longer period.
The grounds around the hotel, big grass area to sit in the sun. The big 4 poster bed! Staff were very friendly and helpful!
There was nothing not to like. Very pleased with our stay.
Lovely location, welcoming staff
I ordered scampi and chips and it came with salt and vinegar on, which I don't like. I wasn't asked, and it ruined the meal for me.
Clean, comfortable and very welcoming.
Property was lovely and bed was very comfortable

Perfect quiet location
Poor continental breakfast selection & not available at time assured it would be
Had a room in the courtyard which was really nice . Very comfy and very clean
Would have liked the bar to be open later . Came back at 11 and it was closed .
The grounds and location was beautiful
The bed was uncomfortable and the room was a bit dated
Great location for a concert we were attending in Scarborough, 11 Minute drive
Very narrow bath so shower curtain stuck to you when showering and shower gel provided was just about empty
Lovely building

Good location, nice setting, polite staff, spacious room.
The beds were hard, lots of dust on top of the hairdryer and hairdryer stand
Good location & reasonable price
In need of some TLC, first room had significant mould in bathroom. Paid for continental breakfast after checking availability for 7:30am due to scheduled departure for train. By 8am still no croissants ready despite chasing up several times ! Fresh fruit wasn’t even prepared, very poor selection even of cereals & unable to obtain refund when requested. Expensive for toast & cheap yoghurt. Wouldn’t stay again
Fruit bij het ontbijt was niet heel vers
