I loved the fact that we were allowed to bring our dog. The rooms were clean, the property was clean maintained daily. The staff were friendly and welcoming.

Nice and clean

Very private, room was clean, beds were comfortable, very quiet and very close to the beach. Very secure. Staff are very friendly and attentive.

Entry to room is through bathroom no biggie just odd.

The location and the stuff Hugo and Luis they where so nice and so helpful I’ll come back another time for sure

Desde que llegamos nos hicieron sentir como en casa. Muy limpio. Sr Héctor y ayudantes fueron muy amables. Gracias por sus atenciones. Tienen perros pero muy mansitos. Es un lugar tranquilo. Completamente familiar. Muy seguro. Estacionamiento seguro. A escasos metros de la playa. Por supuesto que algún día regresaremos.

Que no había jabón en el lavamanos. Sería bueno que tuvieran Aire acondicionado.

De Alamo Hostel is one of the best hostels I have stayed at during my 3 years of travel. The location was perfect. 1 block from the beach and very close to everything I could have needed (cafes, restaurants, bakeries, Farmacia Guadalajara). Hector is an amazing host. We spent a lot of time talking and getting know each other and sharing our life stories. Hector's dogs are a special treat. They are some of the kindest, most loveable dogs I have met. Highly recommend De Alamo Hostel when you are visiting Rosarito.

The best part of the place is the people! Hector is an amazing host! He made me feel like family the second I came to the property. He is so warm and friendly and even has some good jokes too! He was very knowledgeable about the area and told me delicious places to eat nearby and also when is the best time to return to San Diego to avoid traffic at the boarder. Just an amazing host all around. I will be back!

Breakfast was nice to have but very small and basic. Location was convenient, right off the main tourist drag (even if it's a bit loud there), and the terrace was pretty cool for sunset or to chill out

Housekeeping came in to the room just after 9am to loudly turn over a top bunk bed! unbelievable lack of respect for people trying to sleep. They overcharged me when I extended a night, assuming they'd charge the same price as Booking (without fees for them). That's partly my fault but it's a shady practice

Pretty cool setup and well located 2 blocks from the beach and 2 blocks from Rosarito's main street - Benito Juarez. Tons of eating options and markets within walking distance. The staff is super nice, bunk beds comfy, clean and well-maintained. The gated parking is very secure, never had to worry about my car.

I visited in February, low season and there weren't any other people there besides a few long-term regulars so not much of a hostel vibe though everyone was nice - I think it would have been better in the summer. There was also no heat in any of the rooms and it gets cold in Feb, I was freezing all the time but the owner did lend me a space heater when I got a private room. Biggest problem here is all the dogs, there are several guard dogs living on the property (rottweilers and pit bulls) and they can be very aggressive and scary. I never felt comfortable having them wander around freely all the time, they were aggressive towards me on a few occasions and the big rot always snarls very nastily whenever you come into the front gate, god forbid he mistakes you for an intruder. Also there are A LOT of stray dogs in the streets, this is common around Rosarito and I had to be constantly on guard. When I went to the beach, only a few blocks away one of the strays ran after me and nearly bit me on the beach so I stopped going. The dogs are constantly barking and getting into fights, I felt on edge and like I needed to carry a stick or weapon whenever I was walking in the neighborhood :(

The staff was great. Friendly and put in real effort. I definitely plan on staying again!

Wifi is spotty. Communal areas aren't quite what I'd hope for. Fridges/closest thing to a kitchen left something to be desired.

I gestori del posto sono molto gentili e accoglienti. Promuovono la convivialità. Mi hanno offerto da mangiare e bere, abbiamo festeggiato insieme un compleanno la sera che sono arrivato. Luis e Hector sono super, il posto é tranquillo una piccola oasi.

La struttura non é molto curata ci sono delle parti in costruzione o "abbandonate", ma i gestori fanno tutto il possibile per renderlo un posto accogliente e ci riescono.

Hector and his crew are exceptional hosts, I would go back anytime.

All of the staff was amazing very helpful and friendly. Room was clean no issues. Loved how close i was to the beach and restaurants.

I can't rate the wifi because I don't know if we had any. Even if we had wifi, I never really use it. I really like the friendliness in the hostess. He was polite and very talkative. The property does have parking on site, and it's free!

It was very cold the the days we stayed and the rooms had no heating. The blankets were paper thin, so we all slept with our jackets on. . .but for future reference, it's time to upgrade the rooms with some heaters. 😊

Location is great, just about a block away from the beach. Staff was EXCELLENT. Hector is by far the most nicest and helpful person I have ever encountered in a place that I have stayed at. You can see the love for what he does. He makes you feel at home and is always willing to give you tips on your stay at Rosarito. His dogs are the friendliest. The place is extremely clean and comfortable. This is definitely my go to every time I go back to Rosarito. Thanks for the wonderful experience!

No ocen view but easy access to beach!

Very good location just less than a 5 minute walk from the beach. Really affordable price, and the bunk was comfy with a socket and headlamp. The owner was really nice so was the person working there. It’s a safe hostel for solo female travelers. Highly recommended.

I liked the location and the price. Also nice hammocks.

Sadly the owner was rude, didn´t care about his dogs that were everywhere all the time and scared people, grunted loudly, I stepped in dog poop once and i could see many more poops. The kitchen was nasty with many old things in refrigerator that smelled, and the kitchen is actually a tent with a gasoline stove not a real kitchen. People left food for long times also. Furthermore there were no cold water in th fridge, although clean water was accessible. They have a small gym that doesn´t work, and a pool that is not done but doesn´t seem to be on its way to be done either, (I never saw anyone work on it.) There is no security in the room, they are always open and no locks out to the street. Nice people lived there, but mostly mexicans, so not many like minded people.

I am a female solo traveler and didn’t feel safe when I arrived at this hostel. I don’t really understand the rating. I was alone in a dorm with 2 men much older and decided to stay somewhere else as I didn’t feel safe. I couldn’t find anyone from the hostel to inform them as there is no front desk. The area felt a bit sketchy, no proper lock on the door, a lot of constructions around, the beach nearby is really not nice. I wouldn’t recommend to stay here unless you have no other option.

The rooms are very pleasant, it was cozy and clean. The hotel team has always been friendly, patient and helpful. I had an amazing weekend it’s about a 10 min walk to the beach, they have an Oxxo nearby there’s a restaurant right across the street from the hotel. Everything that you need is close by this hotel.

It's kind of unique, like a compound of several buildings and I was in a single room near a large room with 6-8 beds. There's a separate kitchen area where I prepared my breakfast and lunch and went out most nights. There's an area across the street that has 4 restaurants and a bar, which is incredibly convenient. The property is a short block from the beach, which again is incredibly convenient. I was there for 4-5 days and was included in a couple of meals, which was fun. Overall, I felt like a part of the family by the time I left and can't say enough about how friendly and helpful everyone was. Two thumbs, way up!!

The only negative and it wasn't much of a factor was that there was no closet or place to hang up my clothes. And there wasn't a chair of any kind in the room, but they provided one as soon as I asked. The bathrooms are shared by everyone and weren't always available when needed and were smaller than I expected.

The stuff is extremely friendly and will always help you; it feels more like a community than a hostel as they introduce the guests to each other. I really enjoyed my stay. It's super close to the beach and also the main street with everything you need, but at the same time very quiet.

Hector, Memo and Omer make sure you have everything you need during your stay. Always felt safe as a female solo traveler! And the dogs are really cute :) Also Sharon, the retired lady which life’s on the premises, is a nice dialog partner. It’s better to expect a camping site atmosphere more than a hostel ++ hammock, close to the beach

Rosarito in off-season is kind of sketchy, only one fellow traveller during my stay

Hector, the host was absolutely wonderful! Very nice and accommodating. Very secure place, no one gets by the friendly dogs! Great food right across the street. Quality furnishings! My husband and I were both so tired and felt so relaxed in our comfortable room, we stayed in bed the whole first day! We will definitely stay there again.

Wish there was a refrigerator in the room. There is one to use in the patio area, however.

Arrived at night and it looked a little sketchy as it’s a chain link gate, held together with a wire. It looked a bit abandoned. If a formal gate and fence were added it would look safer. The dorm room is small. You walk into the room and it’s a wall of capsule beds.

The room was clean and very comfortable. The restrooms and showers were also very clean and in good condition. The courtyard was well maintained and had plenty of seating and shade to take in the fresh air and sound of the waves on the beach nearby before you start your day off or if you just want to relax and unwind.

Everything. The host and staff were so great and friendly. Always keen to help and made us feel very welcome. Also, the hostel in itself is very nice! Strongly recommend!

The staff were beyond accommodating and attentive though all male which was slightly challenging for an elderly female though as such I probably had no business being there anyway. T’was a last night on my way back to the U.S. The place was authentic in it’s appearance and layout. They obviously once had a pool and jacuzzi and would do well to get them working again though the ocean is just down the street so perhaps not a necessity. Was surprised by the doggy population of many types and sizes at the property. I think perhaps they are rescue dogs. Luckily I like dogs. The sleeping arrangements were quite well arranged making them quite private and the bed clean and comfy. The hostel is situated right at the beginning of the most popular tourist area. I should add that I was spoilt by my two night stay in a San Diego hostel on my way to Baja which was sparkling, brand spanking new and of a new Swedish design and which was a revelation in hosteling.

I think perhaps the place could do with a face lift.
