It’s not like l did not like it but maybe it’s something it never came across the team. Leaving some cleaving clothes and sponge in apartment for new guest and if staying many days they can always get something for themselves.

Cold and very tired. The shower in need of grouting - all over. Very basic interior and not well maintained. I don’t know why, but poor accommodation always seem to cover the beds with too many pillows of different sizes. Has anyone else noticed this?

The hand basins were chipped. The tiles on the floor looked dirty, not sure if it was just the design. The windows were dirty this time are, Nico do better. House keeping some how managed to open our door even though it was looked. That was a major safety concern.

Food was over priced and poor quality, I was forced to pay for an item I did not order during breakast. I was basically told that I am lying and did order (big difference between avo and americano...) and I should pay because it was eaten. It is winter and we had to ask for an additional blanket as none was provided. Will not stay there again.

Reviewed Jun 21, 2026The unit was spacious, comfortable and had a lovely corner view over Bedfordview. The bed was comfortable, the bedding was clean, the fridge was great, and I appreciated the Wi-Fi, big TV, comfortable couch and small desk space to work from. The staff were friendly and the unit was cleaned every day, which was a big plus.
I was happy to pay R300 per night to upgrade to the bigger unit, but I was surprised to be charged an additional R300 just to have a washing machine added, which I have never experienced before on Booking.com. The unit also needs some maintenance and attention. The bench at the end of the bed was stained, the bath was stained around the drain, the towels were washed out, not sta-soft soft:( and crispy white, and the coffee table and dining table had water damage with swollen wood. The kitchen was very sparsely equipped, with only two of most items, and I also saw some cockroaches, which I reported. Overall, the space was comfortable and the staff were friendly, but for the extra charges I expected the unit to be better maintained and better equipped.

There was no hot water to shower after 1 person showered for 15 minutes. It was not up to standard. Furniture was damaged and old. Cleaning staff not friendly. Everytime we wanted to order food the kitchen staff advised that the item is not available. Makes you wonder why is it on the menu in the first place. R95 for a chicken and mayo sandwich? Damn. I mean it was okay but for that price it's ridiculous. They had no chicken lasagna and no tramazini. The bathroom had a bad smell when we entered. It was stuffy and there was a smoke smell when using the aircon. There was no table by the Vanity mirror. Not happy with the stay at all. We always stayed at the Nicol since 2020 for holidays but this time will be the last. And this was our anniversary stay. Very disappointed. I would rather spend more to book at a proper hotel like Protea or Emperor's where there are no complaints.
