Location was excellent. Bar and lounge good. Restaurant nicely spaced out and not too big. Staff helpful, especially Hannah at breakfast.
Small issue in room with bathroom light switch not working properly, soon rectified though.
All good.
All good.
Breakfast was excellent
Nothing
Everything. Location, facilities, comfort, peace and quiet, and most of all the staff!!
Nothing
The location was excellent, hotel was quirky and interesting. Rooms a good size and breakfast was good.
The only thing was that the shower was fixed head only, really to avoid getting hair wet it needs a flexible head as well.
Fantastically helpful reception manager Neil really we t above and beyond. Made such a difference. Thank you
Location and parking
Room was a little small compared to both my friends rooms
Stunning location - and we had 5th floor bridge view rooms - worth the extra we thought, to have the view of the mesmerising bridge at night! Huge, very comfortable rooms, quirky modern decor, - well-served by nearby lifts. Quiet and well sound- proofed. Dining room a little lacking style and atmosphere; evening meal just satisfactory (3 main items off the menu by 7pm) - it was convenient after a long day but would make the effort to go elsewhere if staying again. Parking was just opposite back entrance and very convenient and generous but see below (Free with disabled badge for over 24 hrs of an overnight stay). Dog-friendly.
Staff friendly enough but...when did we stop offering not just customer service but basic consideration for others?! I told them I had an 85 yr old, an 80 year old, a dog and all baggage to manage - was simply advised to drive around to the front where there are no steps, then I could "take my time" over carrying everything in + up to the 5th floor via the lifts...👀...before driving back round to the carpark... Lack of light and atmosphere in lobby, which has a somewhat grubby carpet. Back entrance facing carparking, has set of steep stairs, no lift. Not convenient for the disabled/less mobile. Not the same sense of opulence as demonstrated at other Malmaison establishments.
Teesie in the breakfast room her service was excellent!
Breakfast food on the second morning was only warm whereas on the first morning it was excellent
Friendly helpful staff and lovely surroundings.

The breakfast was excellent and the room had a lovely view.
The bed was a little wobbly, but other than that everything else was excellent
Great location and amazing views. Comfortable bed and lovely room. Breakfast and evening Meal very good

Clean and tidy room, excellent to be a on top floor
Common areas could use a little decorative updating
Great hotel and beautiful room
Leaving!
Our room was beautifully decorated and the bed was very comfortable. Air conditioning worked perfectly.
The lighting was not good enough for putting on make-up. The bathroom is dark and then there is no bright place to put on makeup or to style your hair in the room. Also - the bathroom REALLY needs an exhaust fan!!!!
Location style comfy and pure romance free coffee and Ferraro rocher
Bath needed a bit of a spruce for a luxury suite but nothing
I chose this hotel as a place to stay on my birthday because I wanted something really special. And boy did it deliver. Waking up each day to a view of the Baltic Flour Mills, the Glasshouse, and the Gateshead Millennium bridge is so special. The building has a very forward and frisky design, from its art nouveau entryways to its Newcastle themed carpet. The staff are the absolute highest level of professionalism: warm without being cloying, efficient without being soulless. We ate at the restaurant (Chez Mal) which was flawless, drank at the bar - which has a splendid, decadent layout - and drank coffee at the downstairs café, where a lot of local professionals sat with laptops or just had a chat. What can I say? This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. The bed is comfortable, the bathtub fills quickly, the shower pressure is divine, the toiletries are fragrant. Congratulations to the whole team who made this magnificent hotel a reality. It didn't even break the bank: the Malmaison put to shame its London counterparts at the same price point, and well above that price point too.
I didn't like leaving!!!
Was decorated well I guess just dirty
Dirty , smelt weird opened windows and could hear fighting very loud
Excellent service from staff

Location and service of the staff
Breakfast was pretty average for the money and a bit annoying we had to pay for child’s breakfast despite them been on the booking plus wasn’t actually informed of this until checkout
Beautiful hotel in a premium spot. The staff are very friendly and professional. Rooms are well appointed. We managed to get one on the 6th floor directly in front of the Millennium bridge, what a grand view. Big shout out to the young lady on reception who went looking for a pair of sunglasses I’d misplaced the night before, she offered to look upstairs in the bar and to my surprise she came down with them. Going above and beyond the call of duty. We will defo stay again. Wish we’d stayed an extra night,
Nothing.
The decor is really fab, the room was spacious (321) with a great view of Millennium Bridge, Sage and Baltic etc. The staff are, as always, fantastic, hard to find better.
It isn’t the property itself, it is the noise that comes from the Pitcher and Piano pub which sits below the hotel. Irritating, especially when it is a lovely hotel and in a great location, other than this!
Good location and good interior decor. Very large room and comfortable.
Not really any atmosphere.

Een mooi hotel, vriendelijk personeel en ruime kamer! Heerlijk bed. En er lag een welkomstpakket voor onze hond klaar. Locatie goed en op loopafstand van het centrum. Parkeren gemakkelijk in garage aan de overkant.

All was really good..
The shower in the suite could have been better but it was still good.
Friendly, helpful staff. Room was very comfortable and clean. Facilities were excellent.

Gorgeous spacious upgraded room overlooking the millennium bridge. The bed was large and extremely comfortable The room was very clean Staff were very friendly from check in , restaurant staff at breakfast and then check out
The price of the breakfast is overpriced
Its location
The dinner food was bland and overpriced, breakfast OK but continental choice a bit underwhelming
Absolutely fab stay as always, staff are always friendly, it is a short walk to everything and always get a river view.
Location was excellent,as was dinner and breakfast.
Aircon was a bit dodgy. Fridge didn't work.
Very close to restaurants pubs etc, staff extremely helpful and friendly 🙂

The room was a bit tatty and dated
Very clean and very good location

Love the room and the property it was easy to access everywhere you needed to be
The only issue I had was at the bar on the evening of 25/08/2026 the bar server made a snotty comment about I should know what is in my drink as I ordered it I thought there was no need for that kind of comment.
The location on the river front was so lovely, and very convenient for visiting sights in the city too. Our river view room was gorgeous, with stunning décor, really luxurious bed and everything provided to make our stay special. The breakfast was delicious, catering for every taste, and the staff were so approachable and accommodating.

Extrem große und geräumige Zimmer. Von Nachbarn hat man garnichts gehört. Sehr sauber.
Das Frühstück war mittelmäßig. Das Personal war sehr freundlich, aber das Essen mittelmäßig
No breakfast
I did not get an invoice on leaving the property, now I have to chase it up as they said it would be emailed and I do not have it
La douche se mettait à couler régulièrement la nuit et nous réveillait. La rue est bruyante.
Friendly, attentive and incredible views
Clean, friendly and attentive
Location was great for access to shops and water side walks and drinks
Nothing
Great location on the quayside
Could hear everything going on the room next door on first night but I called them and asked them to keep it down, and it kind of worked.
Location is excellent, staff are very nice
Very dark, and a bit dated.
Location by the river was lovely. Great breakfast, room was amazing.
Location, the room was lovely
Paix for a bridge view but it was blocked by trees
Location, beautiful building, views of the river & bridge from our room - staff welcoming & helpful signposting inc. parking - bar staff friendly & nice cocktails - large comfortable & very clean room, bed, bathroom - nice quality bedding. Great blackout curtains - water in the room & good selection of coffee/tea etc. plus 2 welcome chocolates & biscuits
Nothing to note
Luxurious stylish well situated and perfect in every way ! Lovely staff!
Nothing
Location great & lovely staff
Food in restaurant really limited Cleanliness in en suite was poor
Brilliant location for a city break
Trivial maybe, but the combination of ceiling/ambient lighting just did not work with the light switch combination, for example could not switch off the overhead light in the lounge part of the suite without also switching off the side light so you either had darkness or full light
The bed was extremely comfy! Staff were lovely and attentive - dinner was lovely and breakfast 🥞
Nothing
Beautiful room and good food and friendly staff
Nothing!
Location is excellent. Great views from the seventh floor. Comfortable bed so good sleep ensured. Plenty of room in the suite. Great choice on the breakfast menu. The bar is comfortable and offers a comprehensive drinks menu. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, especially on reception and a big nod to Tessie, your Belfast mammy, at breakfast. The hotel meets the standards expected of the brand.
The basin and stand in the Illustrious suite are too big for the space. The subsequent placement of the toilet is poorly thought out. If you were a large individual, you might not actually fit as it is cramped. It also looks weird. The lighting isn't the most functional. The spider-like bedside lights are on or off. When they are on, they are wondrously bright (think floodlight).I couldn't seem to dim them, which would have been helpful. A boring choice of beers available in the bar. There's no need to have mainstream beer brands when you have the option to use the numerous local breweries.
Good location on the River Bank . Safe parking nearby Large comfortable Beds Room large Good breakfast included
Dark Decor. No hand shower attachment. Bathroom Small
It was clean, comfortable and the location is excellent. A lovely friendly welcome from Dave.
My wife was surprised that there was no conditioner or body lotion but otherwise liked the toiletries.
Excellent location on the river in the centre of Newcastle. Parking available for small fee. Excellent breakfast and good restaurant and bar. Staff very helpful.
Depending on the room location, can be noisy on Saturday night. Room a bit drab and shower is in the bath.
Right on quayside, great view! Easy and safe car parking over the road Room design and decor very comfortable and modern Complimentary bottle of water in fridge really welcome touch
Breakfast was a bit pricey - even with an offer of £20 I thought that was a lot- would be good to have a continental only price
Good central location, close parking. Typical Malmaison style rooms which were comfortable and well equipped. Bed was comfortable, temperature was good, shower was hot with good pressure.
Retain all proof of parking especially if paying at the hotel. Currently in dispute with UKPA parking.
Agreed to not have daily cleaning which was fine but had to ask twice to receive daily water and milk cartons
Location and hotel were amazing. Very comfy bed and had all that was required. Food was lovely and staff were so friendly and attentive.
The berry crumble was too much fruit and a tiny bit of oat crumble sprinkled on the top. The big dish of berries ended up giving my mum an upset tummy. Don’t think that amount of berries are good for anyone in one serving
Apart from location - i cannot really sing praises about this hotel
We are being charged if we want to use toothbrushes or toothpaste .. This hotel is quite dark and gloomy and the sofa in the lounge is really not comfortable to sit on ..
Location
We both found long hair in our breakfast
Location..hotel is on the waterfront. Is nice and central for exploring Newcastle The shower gel smelled nice.
The list is long. This hotel is VERY expensive for what is provided. I stayed in a mid range double room. This room was on par with a travelodge but was much more expensive. The wallpaper is nicer than a travelodge. The bed is smaller. No dressing gown. The room is underwhelming. One whole side of the hotel faces an office block so no benefit of the location for my room. The hotel staff are very stressed. The breakfast area is very dirty with stained tablecloths in the service area that are not changed and on display for dinner service. Breakfast orders are wrong , the wait staff we had did not use an iPad or pencil so got my order wrong and had to keep asking guests what they had ordered to assist her memory. A discarded cup of. Tea remained on the counter for the whole hour that I was at breakfast. Dinner service was worse. We arrived at our booked time. Waited in the door way while staff did not seat us. Got bored so went to the bar. We were ignored by a male member of staff and the female was making drinks for others. Without acknowledging us. When she was eventually ready we had to suffer her sarcasm of asking “ who is next”. The food in the restaurant is not scratch made. The fresh ceviche seafood was a spoonful of mix from a pot on a plate. This had not been freshly cut in the kitchen. The waiting time between starter and main was a very long time. The trout dish arrived in a very pretty sauce. The sauce had no flavour at all.
Good location. Always nice rooms and comfy beds
Staff the only rude people we met the whole weekend.
Fantastic service from checking in, to checking out. All staff we engaged with were professional, courteous and nothing was too much trouble. The choices at breakfast were amazing and we enjoyed being able to walk into town easily.
Nothing to add.
Lovely hotel excellent room facilities. Beautiful view over river and bridge. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast both days was amazing and breakfast staff were so lovely and friendly.
Nothing
Good room, comfortable bed, nice bathroom . Fridge and a bottle of water
Lighting was a little dark in the room
Tessie was really welcoming at breakfast and their parking was really good - available until midnight in the day of departure
Good breakfast very good eggs Benedict
Prices in hotel high
Lovely breakfast cooked to order.Lots of variety and choice. The location is perfect and the Malmaison building is elegant with lovely views of the Tyne.
Liked everything
Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely rooms which were made better by the provision of a dog bed for our dog who accompanied us on our stay.
Parking was in multi-storey over the road, but frankly that was a minor inconvenience.
Location, staff, comfortable bedrooms, great breakfast.
Nothing.
Excellent location, modern, clean, great breakfast
Superb view from my bedroom. Extremely helpful staff in reception, Stephanie, Honey-Summer and in the breakfast room Teezie.
The stairs to the back entrance and car park would be better as a ramp. At 81 years old I found them a bit difficult with luggage.
Fantastic hotel. Fantastic location. Fantastic breakfast. Highly recommend this hotel stopped hear for anniversary

As youd expect from the Malmaison. And the location, right on the Quayside, is just perfect.
The Location is first class the hotel is one of my favorites in Newcastle
Amazing hotel amazing staff great location
Great location, friendly and helpful staff, lovely room, clean and comfortable
Very nice hotel in a great location. All staff we encountered were excellent. The room was large and had a nice view. Breakfast is cooked to order, and we had amazing service from Tirso. Will definitely stay there again next time we are in Newcastle.
Great location some excellent pubs on quayside we love the head of steam the lemon cello spritzers are lovely
Location Spa Room decor
Location and charm. Staff were super and bar an nice place to hang out
Couldn’t eat food in the bar space
Great location right on key side walking distance to all the bars parking only £6 for 24 hrs we used to stay at the Vermont but they introduced a £20 per night parking charge so now stay at the Malmaison great hotel
Nil
Staff lovely and helpful as always Location of hotel is great Everywhere clean and tidy
The only one thing was the room was slightly dusty which we noticed because comparing to previous trips it’s never ever been noticeable but this didn’t ruin the stay
