Staff was amazing - nothing was too much trouble. So many lovely areas to sit and relax. Hotel was in great condition. Left with a feeling of total well being .

We were met by friendly faces. Everyone extended themselves to ensure our stay was as comfortable as one would expect. It was homely and luxurious. Absolutely loved everything.

This is one of the most thoughtful and caring hotels I have ever stayed in. They even put a hot water bottle into our beds at night to make the stay even more comfortable and all members of staff were beyond helpful

Everything was excellent. The room was big with a fireplace and they put hot water bottles in the blankets and we slept so well in a quiet place.

The food could use some updating - soups were fabulous, chicken too overcooked, salmon delivered perfectly!!

Penthouse was amazing, the photos does not do it justice, pity the weather was not great on the 2nd day since most of what makes this room special is outside. Service (especially Brian) and spa were 5 star and the food is some of the best ever.

We love the beautiful decor and fire place to sit and have afternoon sundowners. Rooms are beautiful and spacious.

Wir kamen spät an. wurden aber super freundlich empfangen (ein wundervolles Upgrade auf eine Suite) und eine complementary Fußmassage den nächsten Tag. Das Hotel ist im Kolonialstil mit liebevollen Details, einfach das Hotel genießen, tolle Gartenanlage mit 2 Pools (einer beheizt). Das Frühstück ist außergewöhnlich (Sonntags Austern), das Beste, was wir in Südafrika erlebt haben. Alle Mitarbeiter sind von einer ausgesprochenen Herzlichkeit. Das Abendessen ist ebenfalls zu empfehlen, der Drink an der Bar (Kamin) mit Pianospieler ein Muß. Wir haben einen Fahrer gebucht, um die Sehenswürdigkeiten von JoBo zu sehen, alles lief perfekt. Wenn JoBo, dann nur im Residence, es war traumhaft

Concierge team was welcoming and helpful. The hotel is located in the lush green, quiet and serene Houghton Estates Neighbourhood. The rooms are spacious. Only addition necessary at least for my room would be a bedroom workstation. The one by the outside section in my room was fine but meant i had to ensure i carried a power pack and also not quiet ideal as it also then rained in the evening and morning and exposes one to weather elements. Adequately stocked mini bar and whiskey decanter available with ice in the room. Beautiful views outside and gymnasium and spas to take care of fitness and relaxation needs. Great food choice overall. Enjoyed chicken makhaya while my colleagues had salmon and Ostrich nicely done accompanied by white wine from a wide selection. The only downside on bar side was absence of my preferred beer but barman still availed a decent alternative. Rosebank Mall under 3km by Uber or Hotel shuttle if in need. Houghton Golf Course close by All in all i got value for my money and would still want to go there when in JHB. Rooms were clean and comfortable

The breakfast was super good. The best I’ve ever had. So many options to choose from. The Spa’s ambience is top notch and the ladies were very friendly. One thing that stole my heart was the Dinner. Enjoyed the finest dishes whilst watching Live music performance.😍

Access at the gate on arrival was slow and we were unable to contact reception via telephone (not sure if we happened to arrive at a busy time). As this is the first impression it should be assessed.

The hotel is an old favourite that we’ve been going to for about 5 years. The food, the staff, location and ambience are great.

Having been coming here for as long as we have, we were mortified at the room we stayed at this time. While the bedroom was lovely and comfortable, the shower - you can’t even turn it’s so ridiculously small. Unacceptably small for such an establishment. This room ( room 2)was really not the best as it’s located just above the kitchen and the spa so it’s very noisy. We could hear music in the early hours of the morning. And voices throughout the early evening. Not good if you’re here for a getaway.

The location is conveniently located however you feel as if you are not in the city. It has a resort feel with very attentive staff

Personally I think hotels should offer terrestrial/local channels or cable. Expecting customers to only use own login details for a hotel of this standard was disappointing.

Unser Aufenthalt war leider zu kurz. Das Hotel ist einfach super, kommt allerdings langsam in die Jahre.

Zumindest unser (großes und sehr schönes) Bad ist etwas sanierungsbedürftig. Ansonsten alles top, wir werden dort wieder übernachten.

Truly amazing… felt as if I was in Bali somewhere remote and quite. The heated pool was the highlight including breakfast

Wunderschönes Hotel mit großem tropischen Garten und zwei schönen Pools. Eine richtige Oase Mitten in der Stadt. Tolles Frühstück und gutes Restaurant.

For a Joburg place this hotel offers privacy and safety. The room was very spacious, service was top notch and we enjoy the breakfast everyday. The Spa was also good. The decor is interesting and it manages to hold its authenticity. Dinner was worth it. A great stay.

Lovely hotel - I felt really looked after especially with their driving service.

Arrived at the hotel early morning after a long trip from Austin, TX and were pleasantly surprised that the hotel had a room ready for us and we were offered a wonderful breakfast with both made to order and buffet options, mimosas and coffee. Wonderful way to start our trip. The room was huge, well appointed, and very comfortable with a beautiful deck overlooking the garden. The hotel was quiet, beautiful, and very clean. Drinks in the piano bar were great and the dinner was amazing. I had a carpaccio trio of warthog, ostrich, and springbok that was stellar with the warthog exceeding expectations. The service was outstanding, location perfect for the start of our trip, and all of the staff were very kind, helpful, and a pleasure.

A lovely hotel, and welcoming and helpful staff. Our room was spacious and nicely-designed with our own indoor and outdoor shower, and a soothing spa-like feel. Dinners and breakfasts at the restaurant were excellent and a personal tour around town was everything we’d hoped for. It’s a wonderful oasis in the city.

Overnight stay between the Blue Train and an up country safari. Comfortable rooms with a pleasant garden view. Steak for dinner was a joy and the breakfast before heading to the airport was delicious. Very good staff.

Our second time here and the Residence never disappoint us. we love the elegant style of the hotel and the rooms are big and well appointed. The staff is Kind and professional. The food is amazing we appreciate our dinner with the pianist , so special !

Everything was absolutely perfect - the staff were really helpful, food was great, the room was one of the best we stayed in during our trip to South Africa and the hotel has a great vibe.

Die Erklärung von alle Hotel Services war nicht so gut erklärt am Anfang...

Hotellet ligger i det mest mondæne og sikre del af Joburg. Vi boede på en suite med sauna og vores børn blev upgraded fra dobbelt værelse til suiten lige ved siden af. Der er to udendørs pools, omend de var ret kolde i forhold til at der var vintertid. Servicen og personalet var helt op i toppen. Haveanlægget var virkelig smagsfuldt, lush og fredfyldt. Der er vandinstallationen over det hele. Hotellets stretched Rolls Royce kørte os til den nærmeste shopping mall. Virkelig godt hotel, absolut i toppen og perfekt til afslapning.

Eneste to ting man kunne måske forbedre er at gøre værelserne en anelse lysere og den ene opvarmede plunge pool, der tilhører suiten kunne havet været lidt mere rent. Men det er absolut i småtingsafdelingen og jeg vil gerne give hotellet mine bedste anbefalinger.

Beautiful place to relax. The stuff are very polite and on point. The rooms are excellent. The room we stayed in had a jacozzi and the bed was nice and big. Very clean place.

Breakfast was great. Our pool villa was amazing. Standalone and very private with fireplace, ideal for winter. Staff is very friendly. When we arrived we were met at our vehicle and escorted straight to our room. No wait time at check in.

Lovely property and very friendly/helpful staff. I would definitely recommend this hotel, we just wish we had had a few extra nights there.

The rooms were very comfortable and the staff was warm & friendly. Since it is made up of several connected residences, the hallways/walkways could be quite cold in the winter, but the hot water in the bed helped (and the temperature in the rooms was fine).

Quiet leafy suburb in Johannesburg and close to all amenities. Very helpful and friendly staff that are willing to go out their way for you.

We specifically booked a suite with a hot tub and confirmed its operation ahead of arriving. On arrival we discovered we had been moved to a completely different suit since the hot tub was out of order (the new room had a tub at least but wasn’t as nice). In the end we opted to go with the room with no tub. Matters were made worse by no hot water in our room. These are easy fixes, we would still go back.

something small. we have a guesthouse, know the problem with make up on linen. our fitted sheet had some mascara marks on. The towels should either be kept same "time used" and not mixed. white often shows different stages when linen was rotated to replace.

Lovely property. Located in very good and safe area. The property looks amazing, if you love photos this is your place. Nice warm pool villa, we visited during winter but the villa had very good heating, this really helped. Great food and Very friendly staff as well.

It was an amazing experience at the residence. We would recommend it as a five star hotel, and would go back again. We hope to go back again. The staff were so friendly. The food was excellent, and our accommodations were just beautiful. The tropical nature of the resort was amazing as well.
