Excellent location within walking distance of the old town, shopping and restaurants. Spiros was an outstanding host. So friendly and welcoming. Excellent breakfast. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Shower was extremely bad (difficult to operate, long to heat up, extremely low pressure), breakfast time very restricted (45 minute slot only), beds not very comfortable.

The owner is so lovely and helpful, excellent location. The rooms are old but have evey thing you need and are absolutely spotlessly clean.

Really lovely Host, nothing is to much trouble, excellent location, only 10mins walk through a very pretty park to the town. Nice breakfast. Altogether a very lovely personal experience. Definitely recommend.

We enjoyed our 4 night stay at Sycamore guest house, very friendly owner, clean and homely accommodation, breakfasts were exceptional, probably the best we've ever had! Quiet area but not too far from the city centre.

The room was small but cosy, the bed mattress was a little hard for me, but I always have problems with beds wherever I stay. Other than that no complaints at all.

Owner was lovely and helpful. He and his wife made a fabulous full English breakfast every morning. We had had an issue with the shower's hot water, but the owner came and sorted it as soon as he could. Very responsive. Room was adorable and suited a couple nights away perfectly.

Wir wurden sehr freundlich und unkompliziert empfangen und haben uns sofort wohlgefühlt. Die Zimmer sind sehr "englisch" und liebevoll eingerichtet. Das Frühstück im kleinen aber schön eingerichteten Salon reichhaltig und fein. Die Unterkunft ist sehr ruhig und trotzdem recht zentral (nahe bei Bahnhof und Altstadt).

Die Treppen im älteren, authentischen Haus sind steil und eng - für uns aber kein Problem. Etwas schade, dass es im Normalfall erst ab 08.30 Uhr ein warmes Frühstück gibt - aber wir konnten uns auch vorher mit Tee, Müesli und Früchten bedienen.

Very convenient location close to the city centre and the train station. Host was wonderful and always asked us if there was anything else we needed. Big breakfast served promptly. We had a parcel shipped to the accommodation that had to be signed for. The host kindly agreed to make sure to be there for its arrival so that we could spend our day visiting the sites of York

We drove down from Glasgow to visit York and it was so convenient to be able to park our car outside the hotel and then walk the short distance to the old centre after check in. Spiros, the owner of the Sycamore Hotel, is absolutely charming. He was extremely helpful and friendly. Our room was spotless and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

Le bed and breakfast est situé à 7 mn du canal, belle balade et à 10 mn du centre. La gare est à 10mn et il est possible de déposer ses bagages avant de prendre la chambre. L'hôte est très accueillant et bienveillant. Décoré dans le style anglais et le petit-déjeuner est très copieux et très bon. Nous avons marché sur les remparts où il y a une belle vue. L'architecture de York est magnifique, les shambles, les pubs

Ein sehr netter Herr beim Frühstücksservice, hat uns beim Empfang gleich den Parkplatz gezeigt und alles veranlasst, damit wir auch dort bleiben können. Er hat uns auch die verschiedenen Wege ins Zentrum gleich auf einer Karte eingezeichnet. Zimmer ruhig und ins Stadtzentrum waren es zu Fuß wirklich nur 10min.

Characterful B&B in a great location in York. Friendly and considerate owners. Lovely breakfast served in the mornings.

The bed was comfy and it wasn't far from the city centre.

On arrival the sign outside was obscured by overgrown trees. The breakfast was good apart from the hard bacon and undercooked toast. Unfortunately Spiros takes every question as a criticism which spoilt our stay at Sycamore House. We will not return..

Sängen var stenhård. Rummet va otroligt varmt och det fanns ingen AC eller fläkt. Rummet va generellt slitet och det va stora gropar i golvet under heltäckningsmattan. Frukosten serverades enbart mellan 8:30-9:15. Detta borde stått i informationen. Då kan man välja att avstå den och köpa frukost ute. Vi missade den två dagar du vi hade bokat buss-och tågbiljetter innan. Vi blev erbjudna att ta med något från "buffen". Det va frukt som gick att ta med.

Upon arrival we were welcomed by the host Spiros, who carefully explained everything regarding the parking, room location, breakfast and Wi-Fi. The room was a fair size, not huge but not as small as some guest houses. It had an en-suite which was also compact but full functional with a very efficient shower. It was clean and tidy, with some useful amenities such as tea and coffee making facilities in the room, a small TV, hairdryer and shower gel etc. The breakfast was very good and was fresh with a good selection. Spiros even went above and beyond to provide me with a Greek Coffee on our final morning.

Very difficult for the host to manage the weather, as it was exceptionally hot during our stay and whilst we had a fan and left the windows open there was very little airflow at all. The decoration looked a little dated and tired but as I said previously, it was clean.

É un ottimo punto per visitare York. Il centro si raggiunge a piedi passando per lo York Garden Museum. La colazione é buona, varia e abbondante.

La struttura è un po’ datata così come l’arredamento.

Our room was very small, which we were expecting but it still had a really thick duvet cover even though it was a heatwave which was difficult to accommodate in the space as we definitely did not want it on the bed. I appreciate that the weather is unexpected but it would have been good if adjustments had been made accordingly.

Die Lage der Unterkunft war sehr praktisch, weil man gut zu Fuss ins Zentrum gelangt und gleichzeitig mit dem Auto rasch zur Stadt hinaus kommt. Die Parkmöglichkeiten sind sehr praktisch. Spiros, der Gastgeber ist sehr freundlich und serviert in einem sehr schönen Frühstücksraum ein ausgewachsenes English Breakfast, wenn man das mag. Das Zimmer war ausgesprochen old shool english, authentisch, aber nicht gross und - wie wohl die meisten Zimmer während einer Hitzewelle - schwer zu klimatisieren.

Es war alles in Ordnung. Wenn es einen Garten oder Aussenbereich hätte, würde man wohl noch mehr Zeit in der Unterkunft verbringen.

The location was very convenient, near enough to the city centre, but in a quiet cul-de-sac. We liked our cosy twin-bedded room.

The cooked breakfast was ok, but could definitely have been hotter - as all the guests had breakfast at the same time, we think the breakfasts were plated up, supposedly kept warm & then adapted to individual requirements. Even my tea on the last morning was tepid, not hot!

The staff were very nice and accommodating, the breakfast was ok , it was an ideal location to walk to the centre alonh the River .

The room we were given, really needed updating and extremely small ,we felt very claustrophobic, the en-suite was very small and the shower pressure was extremely poor , the wash basin was in the room not in the en-suite which was very difficult to do personal care in one place , when you have 2 people sharing . For the cost of the room / breakfast we expected more , than being put up 4 flights of stairs in an Attic,,we booked well in advance of our stay to be put in the Attic exhausting. The host was really lovely but our stay very disappointing

Das Frühstück war sehr gut und der Gastgeber sehr freundlich. Er hat uns noch Tipps für den Weg in die Innenstadt gegeben. DIese ist in wenigen Minuten zu Fuß gut zu erreichen. Das Auto konnte man vor der Tür an der Straßen abstellen, es wurden dafür allerdings noch 3 GBP pro Tag zusätzlich berechnet.

Unser Zimmer lag direkt unterm Dach mit einem separaten, aber privaten winzigen Bad auf dem Flur. Wir wussten, dass wir ein kleines Zimmer mit externem Bad gebucht hatten, aber beides war wirklich winzig. Das Zimmer hatte ein sehr schmales Doppelbett und man konnte eigentlich den Koffer nirgendwo aufmachen, ohne darüber zu fallen. Man hätte sich auch, außer zum Schlafen, in dem Zimmer nicht länger aufhalten können (z. B. bei Regen). Für das Bad musste man jedesmal einen Schlüssel benutzen und das Waschbecken war so klein, mit Ablage darüber, dass man sich nicht richtig waschen konnte. York ist insgesamt wahrscheinlich nicht billig, aber ich fand das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis nicht gut. Wenn man dort übernachtet, dann am besten ein Zimmer mit eigenem Bad buchen.

Great location, short walk through the York Museum Gardens to the city centre. Breakfast was lovely, choice of continental or full English. Host Spiros was pleasant.

Our room was on the top floor, up 4 flights of steep stairs. There was only winter donnas which was uncomfortable during warmer nights.

Amazing english breakfast, Spyros is very kind and helpful. The room was comfortable and very quiet.

Nothing, the structure is perfect. Obviously if you have movement limitation could be an issue, but this point is clear and you have one or two floor to reach your bedrooms.

El lugar es precioso, como quedado en el tiempo. El barrio lindísimo y está super bien ubicado. La atención es muy cordial, el dueño muy amoroso.

The location is excellent – – we were able to walk to the Yorkminster and the meeting point for the Mountain goat Tours. The dining room has a designated table for each room, and the tables are very nicely set with quality tableware. Breakfast is from 8:30–9:30, and choices are continental breakfast or a full English breakfast. The full English breakfast includes very generous portions of bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, and toast.

The rooms and bathrooms are very small. There is a dresser with the drawers that can be used to unload your suitcase – – otherwise it is difficult to find room to open the suitcase.

The hosts were lovely and very attentive. Room was clean and tidy. Facilities were as expected.

We liked the location and the owners were very friendly.

Die Matratzen waren komplett durchgelegen, wir konnten die ganze Nacht kein Auge zumachen. Zudem war das Zimmer sehr schmutzig. Die Toilette war dreckig, es lagen im Bad überall Haare, das Waschbecken und die Armaturen waren alle dreckig. Die Tapeten haben sich schon von den Wänden gelöst und die Fenster wurden auch schon lange nicht mehr geputzt. Wir waren auf einem 10-tägigen Trip durch England und diese Unterkunft war leider mit Abstand die schlimmste!

Owners were lovely, very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was exceptional, the property needed some upgrading as was very dated.

Rooms made bigger. Bathroom very tiny so couldn't sit on toilet properly. Shower very small and dated. Window didn't shut properly. If anyone moved about in their room on top floor all the boards creaked. The whole attic level needed totally re decorating.
