В целом, кроме персонала и кухни все было очень плохо. 1. В отеле везде ужасный запах. Плесень, гниение, грязная старая ткань. Запах не связан с онсенами, отель просто ужасно старый и требует реновации. 2. В номере за 700 евро в сутки вместо душа тебя встречает лейка со шлангом. 3. В номере было грязно, пыль на шкафу. Два раза мы встречали пауков. 4. Было жутко шумно, ты буквально слышишь каждый шаг проживающих сверху, спать тяжело. 5. Ощущение, что отель и мебель разваливаются. 6. В номере была плесень. 7. Туалет вонял и запах не исчезал. 8. Очень низкие потолки и дверные проемы. Как итог - отель абсолютно непригоден для проживания и не стоит своих денег. Не верьте высокому рейтингу. Пожалуйста, не говорите, что это исторический антикварный отель. Мы были в Негреско в Ницце - он исторический. А этот - пора закрыть и переделать, проживать людям в таких условиях нельзя. Мы были счастливы, когда уехали.

Stunning Ryokan, we stayed in a room with a private onsen and it was incredible with woodland views and a cosy comfortable room. The highlight was the food and the service, the staff were incredible

Det lugtede på hele stedet som vi havde svært ved at være i. Derudover kunne vi ikke lide maden og sengen var hård og der manglede generelt komfort når man betaler så meget pr overnatning.

Tutto veramente perfetto. Personale gentilissimo, ottima conoscenza dell’inglese. Cena super con una grande varietà di piatti tipici giapponesi e cucina di altissima qualità. La colazione che propongono è tipica giapponese e le onsen private sono stupende! Un’esperienza unica che ripeterei e consiglierei a chiunque.

Staff were very helpful and always smiling. They helped to carry our luggages . Chef was very accommodating to our diet constraint and even made a last minute change upon request; very talented. Different kaiseki menus for dinner . Spacious room . Complimentary drinks , beers and very light snacks . Very peaceful and quiet stay .

To have small bottles of shampoos, shower gels and conditioners in the room. Doesn’t do justice to the ryokan hotel status . The good thing is that they replenished these bottles every day .

Truly the most exceptional hotel we have ever stayed in, perfect for ending our two week holiday to Japan. We were greeted with tea and light snacks by the friendliest staff, and were show to our room (which was really four connected rooms included a geothermally heated onsen in our bathroom). We helped ourselves to complimentary snacks and drinks in our room and changed into our Yukatas. Downstairs, we made use of the complimentary alcoholic drinks bar and sat on comfy sofas listening to soft jazz watching the trees in the garden. We then made use of the private outdoor onsen and headed for our included 8 course meal which was totally stunning, allowing us the opportunity to try a whole array of different Japanese cuisines. After sleeping well on our enormous bed we had a traditional multi-component breakfast and bade farewell to the loveliest hotel.

Das Hotel wer so schön! Es hatte unglaublichen Charme. Es war ein total neues Erlebnis für uns. Das Hotelpersonal hat uns alles wunderbar erklärt und war wiederum extrem zuvorkommen und höflich. Das Essen war super lecker und auch da war das Erlebnis und unsere Bedienung im Mittelpunkt. Unser "Zimmer" war eher eine kleinere Wohnung! Unglaublich wie gross und schön es war. Es war für uns so, als wären wir im alten traditionellem Japan zuhause. Zusätzlich hatten wir einen privaten Onsen. Auch dieser war echt toll!

Da es wirklich ans traditionellem Japan angelegt ist, sind die Wände relativ dünn. Wir hatten das Pech, dass kleine Kinder bei uns in der Nähe waren. Jedes Getrampel hat man gehört. Wir machen weder den Kindern noch dem Hotel einen Vorwurf. Wir können das gut ignorieren aber für andere könnte dies evt. störend sein. Der Preis ist stolz aber es war es uns definitiv wert!

Staff was very nice, the room are great and we had a great massage in a reasonable price.

Every bit of this onsen / ryokan was intentionally crafted. We loved our stay here! We booked a private ryokan room which was well worth it with the private backyard views, even with rain (which added a subtle vibrancy and ASMR to the experience). Rooms were large and well maintained, especially since this property has been around since the 1600’s and the imperial family used to stay here! Another huge plus was the location - secluded and quiet enough to relax away from the busy tourist spots, but close enough to navigate to Gora and the other Hakone attractions easily. The staff and service were notably impressive, well organized, and exceptionally friendly. The property helped us grab a taxi to head back to Yumoto, and the food was both delicious and a form of art with all the plating. My favorite room was a curated, relaxation room with a traditional heater stove and a retro style speaker system that played jazz and classical music. Note that there’s a chance you might see beetles (which are harmless) and part of the onsen ecosystem. Just call the front desk and they’ll catch them for you!

This hotel had amazing staff and amenities, everything was incredibly clean and cared for. Staff spoke very good English and were so kind. Loved the onsen space and lounge areas. I truly have never felt more like a welcomed guest at any other lodging.

Of my entire 3 week trip in Japan, this was the best hotel I stayed at. The staff was 10/10, the sauna and the pool were incredible, and the room was beautiful,everything was perfect. I would come back without thinking twice. It’s absolutely worth it. Thank you for everything.

The only thing I would recommend is to keep a eye on the products offered in the sauna. For two nights, they were always empty and weren’t refilled. Otherwise, everything was amazing.

Es war von Anfang bis zum Schluss einfach nur perfekt. Die Akebono Suite mit privatem Onsen auf der Terrasse war ein grosses Highlight. Das Personal war stets aufmerksam und sehr freundlich. Gegessen haben wir jeweils fantastisch. Wir werden diesen Ort sehr vermissen!

Beautiful ryokan but the food situation made it a bit hard. The fact that we had to upgrade and pay so so much turned our stay sour

I told them that one of us cannot have fish and they told us that instead of replacing one ingredient we need to upgrade the meal. We said ok. But then they said that the whole table needs to upgrade. So all three of us even though not all of us wanted to. We also had a child (under 12) in our party and we were charged full price for the upgrade we didn’t want. A total of 39600 yen extra for a little meal upgrade. Really disappointing. We would not recommend this hotel.

Very quiet and clean facilities. The meals were exceptionally tasty and carefully prepared, it felt like a luxurious meal. The public bath was relaxing and calm, the room was very big and comfortable we appreciated the free drinks in our room. It is a good idea to have a small shop and offer local souvenirs to be able to support local businesses in the area.

We were not able to get massages, but it was our mistake for not booking in advance prior our stay.

The property is unique and the history is fantastic to learn about. The fact you have an onsen in your room is great.

I don’t think there is much value for money at this hotel unfortunately. The food definitely helps justify the cost but if you do not like fish, you will not enjoy dinner or breakfast. I also didn’t like the nickel and diming that they do. For example, they charged extra for juice at breakfast and the waiter said we should try it but never said it was an extra charge. For the price you’re paying, these things should be included. It’s difficult to get to but it’s a great experience, just not the best bang for buck.

The breakfast. It will be nice to have other food. I didn’t want the Japanese breakfast, I opted for a coffee and a juice… I had to pay for the juice which I thought was a bit much considering how expensive the night was.

Everything! From our warm welcome and introduction to the hotel and property with Leela, our amazing meals (served by the lovely and hilarious Yoshida), to the comfort and coziness of our room. Additional perks included an impressive collection of toiletries in the bathroom, access to both private and public onsens, and free wine, beer, and sake served in the late afternoon/early evening. I had read the hotel was difficult to access, but they pre-arranged a taxi to pick us up and drop us off at the train station for a very reasonable rate (considering how much an Uber costs to go a few blocks in Los Angeles). Due to the location, I wasn't sure how many attractions we'd get to see, but there is a bus stop less than a 10 minute walk from the hotel with buses that took us to the lake (with views of Mt. Fuji) in one direction and the outdoor sculpture museum in another (both approximately 15-20 minute rides). Everyone who works here is so nice and friendly and made our stay very special!

Our room had an enclosed outdoor onsen. I'm sure there is a reason it's enclosed, but as the view is very peaceful, it would have been nice to look.

The hotel and facilities are beautiful. The staff will make you feel like Japanese royalty here. We had a room with a private onsen which was awesome.

It was an expensive experience but worth it.

We loved the bath in the big private onsen as well as the one in our room. Our room was spacious and beautiful keeping the traditional look with tatami floor mats. The be was comfortable and there was a samurai sword in our room. WE loved that the kitchen took trouble to present special vegan kaiseki meals. They were a visual treat and tasted great.

The one challenge was the we had two floors in our room and had to go up a flight of stairs at night to use the toilet. I also did not know that they charge for an extra glass of juice for breakfast.

The stay was excellent, the staff was extremely helpful and kind. They helped curate a vegetarian meal for two of our party, which was phenomenal. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time here, and highly recommend this stay.
