Cross Keys Hotel, Kelso

The overall condition of the hotel was excellent. We had a lovely evening meal and excellent breakfast. The hotel was in a very good position. All the staff were brilliant.

The only downfall was the bedroom that we were given. It was very dated and cramped. Approx six inches at the bottom of the bed to get round to the bathroom. The television was also in the six inch at the bottom of the bed. We were concerned of that we may damage the television when going past it.

The breakfast was excellent.

bathroom looked tired ,poor lighting. Needed a mirror in bedroom for ladies to do hair and makeup.

Very interesting area and the hotel is in a good central position

Room was fine although the lighting was poor. The bathroom needs updating. Very small cubicle shower and it was dark inside. No proper shelving area.

Excellent last minute choice of hotel. Staff were all friendly and helpful, we were able to sort a problem with them. Food Excellent. Lovely, quaint features, lift, set in an amazing location. Definitely would return here. Local micro pub next door is a bonus.

De kamer was zeer klein. Het bed was erg klein voor 2 personen. Hotel is gedateerd en mag nodig opgeknapt worden. Badkamer was wel schoon maar ook hier alles erg verouderd. Ontbijt doordeweeks was op zich prima omdat je een bestelling kon plaatsen. In het weekend alleen een buffet.

Being charged for 4 more rooms after initial 6 i had booked and paid for. Also still waiting on re fund for that 😡

Staff very helpful and friendly. Room was very clean and beds very comfortable. Ideal position in town. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice.

Lovely hotel in the centre of Kelso, pleasant and helpful staff, excellent breakfast. Rooms were a good size and were clean and comfortable.

A nice stay, rooms very tired and needing refreshed, great staff and amazing cooked breakfast with haggis! Rutherfords micropub next door is great!

Rooms need updated

The entrance was tidy.

The check in was slow and you requested to leave the keys at reception when you go out. Shabby paintwork around skirting boards. Disgusting state of window frames which were black and rotting. Restaurant toilets had corroded taps, and tables had heat proof clothes on top of white table clothes and plastic flowers!

The shower could have been flatter rather a large step getting in and out it was described as walk in shower this was needed due to back and leg problems and could have done with it being bigger

There was no shelf in the bathroom so no where to put your toiletries also having an evening meal I asked for no potatoes but extra seasonal vegetables which turned out to be peas and carrots not my idea of seasonal

The beds need either mattress toppers or new mattresses they can be a bit firm for my liking, the bathrooms although spotless could do with modernising

LITTLE SOUND PROOFING BETWEEN ROKM COULD HEAR THEM TALKING . ROOM COULD DO WITH UPDATING QUITE TIRED AND DATED . BATHROOM NEEDING CLEANED BETTER PREVIOUS OCCUPENTS HAIRS IN BATH ECT. WE WISHED TO PAY CASH BUT THE HOTEL TOOK PAYMENT OF MY CARD WITHOUT ASKING. A FEW MINUTES AFTER ARRIVING.

Excellent location just what we wanted

We liked the location in the square and the wider area. the staff were friendly and helpful. the room was a good size. THe evening was good and the breakfast had good choice.

The room was unbearably warm during the night and the small fan cooler was inadequate and noisy. The bathroom had a shower over the bath which is not so good nowadays or for older people. Could have been told about the extra pillows at the reception.

The food at breakfast & dinner was excellent & the lounge & dining area was tastefully decorated. Staff were very warm & attentive. Perfect location in the centre of a lovely town.

Bedroom was a little tired in comparison to the lounge & dining areas, it was functional but could do with a refresh. WiFi was intermittent.

- The staff (receptionists, bar staff, breakfast staff) were all exceptionally exemplary; welcoming, fun, helpful, and professional. - Room is spacious, with great views of the beautiful town square. - Good Wifi Connection. - Bed linen, towels and bathroom soaps and shower gels were all as one would expect. - Fabulous breakfast, and they catered for Vegetarians and Vegans too! Lovely coffee!

- Shower was very hard to switch off; it took over ten attempts on several occasions - reported to receptionist, who said they would get it investigated, and thanked me for the information. - The shower cubicle is small; not good if you are of a bigger build! - The toilet roll holder bar kept dislodging from the unit; frustrating as it occurred on almost every occasion, and the toilet roll would fall to the floor and roll away from you! Also reported to the receptionist, who was courteous and again said they would investigate. - There was no bath; for the cost of the room, very disappointing. - Outdated decor, with old redundant pipe(s) painted over. - For such a beautiful looking hotel and wonderful staff, these findings were really disappointing. - Hotel has the potential to out of this world, and I hope if I visit again, that it will be so.

Location - very central. Free parking - easy walk to hotel Good restaurant and bar. Lift to upper floors. My room overlooked square so plenty to see. Fan provided which was essential due to unusually (very) hot weather fo r Scotland!

Met the needs for our stay. I liked that we had a fan and a tv along with a decent sized bathroom. Location to the town centre was excellent. Staff were super friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was also very good

Bed was a little springy and not too comfortable. Room was a little dated, but for the price i cant really complain. The shower space was tiny given hoe big the bathroom was. I was able to get showered okay, but i felt constricted in the shower constantly being up against the walls.

Unfortunately was a bit warm during night an didn’t sleep much , down to extreme weather tho , a small fan may have helped but I didn’t enquire so that’s on me .

Great location in the square, room 202 was large and looked over the square. They stored our cycles securely inside.

The shower room was very tired and shabby. Very small shower cubicle. Noise from the bar next door was significant.

The hotel is excellent and so are all the staff. The room we had is dated and could do with an upgrade. Overall it's fair value for money when considering the minimal local options

Rather liked the old decor. It was very nostalgic! Very nice breakfast and friendly staff. Good that a fan was provided without having to request one.

Good access from road into hotel, but then a wait to get into lift to go up to 2nd floor with mobility scooter (if there had been a fire, I'd not have been able to get out) Shower was a at least 1foot off the ground, so not a Disability walk in shower. The room was big enough but very shabby looking, as was the bathroom.

The meal was really lovely good portion and very tasty. Great value for money. The breakfast was standout as well, a pot of tea and toast all served at the table. You don’t get that at a premier inn !!!

For our party nothing, however we’d been at a caravan park with children for a week so this felt like adult luxury.

Unfortunately, the room was very hot and stuffy - could not open the windows enough to allow fresh air in. A fan was supplied, however this was very old and noisy.

The location was the best ever. Literally in the centre and everything within a very short walk.

Room was small and needing a facelift. The level of noise from drunks on the Square on the Saturday night was ludicrous and went on until well after 2am.. no sign of the Police to try and quieten things down... We didn't sleep till after 2.30am

Staff were very accommodating and provided us with our room before the stated check in time to all us to change.

The rooms are very dated, worn and it really shows around the hotel. The floors squeak and are uneven, the mattress was very old and un comfy, the bathroom was very worn with out dated equipment.
