Comfortable room. Great breakfast and friendly and helpful staff. This hotel is in an excellent central location. I recommend highly.
Nothing!
Lovely pub and rooms with great decor and facilities. Location brilliant. Breakfast was fantastic, brilliant produce cooked well. Staff were friendly and helpful, a nice vibe
Room little small but clean and tidy
Staff were friendly and was good overall
The hotel looks really good after the renovation. The newly installed aircon is a bonus too. The beds are very comfortable and the location is perfect, right in the centre of Keswick.
The TVs in 2 of our rooms didn’t work very well, seemed to be bad reception and were unwatchable. One room was charged the same as the others but didn’t have a view, only looked out to pipes and had a strong smell from the kitchen so couldn’t be opened. Dinner in the restaurant took over an hour and appeared to be far too busy for what they could manage but breakfast was very good and the morning staff were very friendly.
Excellent location. Excellent food and drink, good service and friendly staff.
Could hear noise from street outside our room but that can't be helped. Noise from people going on and out of their rooms in the same corridor but again that's not really the fault of the hotel.
Great sleep - very comfortable
Nothing really
Great location, staff super friendly, lovely breakfast and even got a free upgrade.
Nothing
Location was fantastic...and that's where it stopped.
The bed was lumpy, small room, slow breakfast service, staff not very helpful or friendly, no parking.
The food was good and the room was cosy the location was perfect
Good central location very comfortable rooms with air conditioning and excellent freshly cooked breakfast
Dog friendly was amazing, treats on arrival for the dogs, sausages in the morning for the dogs and great space in the room to accommodate 2 dogs and 2 adults. Great shower and great bathroom and great location. Staff were excellent on our arrival and even went above and beyond by taking our cases into the room and letting us in early.
Nothing
LOCATION AND GOOD FOOD
VERY EXPENSIVE FOR DRINKS AND PROBABLY I WOULD SAY HEAVY ON COST FOR TINY ROOMS
Locasion good
Could have had a easy chair in room
Food and service were Excelent
Noise in early morning but nothing the hotel could do
Absolutely everything and amazing staff who were so helpful. Food was delicious and the Sunday roast with cauliflower cheese was to die for!
Nothing !
Loved the family room set up, the space created perfectly for adults to see the children but still have some space.

Great breakfast and wonderful service. Great location!
Meat pie. It took 3 times to get the right pie for dinner.
Great location. Friendly staff, aircon and good breakfast
Nothing springs to mind
We loved the location
We were in room 2 it was dark very small just like a prison cell very clostrophobic couldn’t open window as there was a big noisy extractor outside window on a scruffy flat room we could smell cooking.
The property was in an excellent location. Long stay carpark a very short walk away. Great staff, lovely comfortable, clean rooms. Will definitely stay again.
Nothing
Clean, close to everything, lovely staff, good value for money.
The bathroom is a little small and so there’s not much room to manoeuvre.
Environment of hotel. Very good breakfast. Location.
Can't think of anything .
Great location and lovely people
We loved everything about Royal Oak Keswick, Clean rooms ,very attentive staff, nothing too much trouble, great food. Amazing all round and dog friendly.
Nothing
This hotel was right on the corner in the downtown shopping area and made it really easy to go explore. We parked in the local neighborhood and walked everywhere. Great breakfasts every morning as well!
Lovely location, staff was accommodating and friendly. Rooms small but very comfortable and well stocked for our stay.
Nothing
Brilliant location, amazing breakfast, clean room
No parking
The Royal Oak was spot on in the middle of Keswick town . Yet you didn’t get any noise because of the great double glazing, the air con was a bonus too. Comfortable bed and a superb breakfast , just what you need.
If I was being picky, the hand wash basin was small and rather cramped, but really the best was made from the given area
Loved the staff, all very kind and helpful. Loved how cosy the room was, and was very clean.
Found that you could hear everything going on in the other rooms and hallway pretty loud, it was unfortunate for us that the room opposite had a dog that was barking for hours none stop late into the night, which made it very difficult to wind down and then the dog started again at 6am. This is in no way the hotels fault with the dog being so loud, but I feel like it also shouldn’t be so easy to hear the other rooms and activity outside of your own room. Maybe doors without a gap at the bottom may help with sound proofing more.
clean, great location and friendly staff
nothing, my only criticism would be make the breakfast options clearer
Excellent location. Very tasty breakfast. Very clean rooms.
Central position
No parking.
Location
The room was small and tv not working properly
Good hotel. Good location
Emplacement parfait, belle et grande chambre, très confortable. On n’y a pas dîné mais le petit dej était très bien aussi.
The staff and the location
Rooms on the small side
Everything was fabulous, the bed was really comfortable, shower great, breakfast great
There wasn't anything not to like
The location. quality of the room fixtures and fittings . superb breakfast, dog friendly, great bar and restaurant.
Nothing.
It is located in the town centre so made it easy to get around, very clean room and comfortable bed, there is a mini fridge in your room and also air conditioning which was great 😃
It is a shame there is no car park at the hotel, saying that we managed to get a space at the rugby club which is about a 10 min walk from hotel, it was £6 a night and we left the car there until we went home as was very busy but it was there busiest time of year early August.
Great hotel, fabulous location and really good breakfast
Good breakfast. Friendly staff and a very clean and comfortable room
Good decor in rooms and public areas
Bathroom was very small
Nice and central location
Staff were a little rude when not eating
Location, the stuff, the decore the food
The room smelled like dog a lot and the bed was very big but a bit uncomfortable
We walked around town and just couldn’t decide where we wanted to eat and landed at The Royal Oak. We were greeted by Lucy as we entered. Deciding to eat outside initially where you have to order through the app. As it was extremely busy on the street we decided to go in. Again Lucy met us and wasn’t phased by our indecisiveness 🤣 She found us a table inside and I can t even begin to describe what a delight the lovely Lucy is. She was relaxed and friendly with us, she was attentive, happy and so smiley. We had a gorgeous meal. We shared the bread and oils. I had the Caesar salad with king prawns and it was beautiful. My fiancé the fish and chips which looked incredible and he said it tasted that way too. The food arrived quickly but I still had time to enjoy my Sarti Spritz. Lucy took an interest in our day and I could see she was attentive to all of her tables in the meantime too. What a treasure she is. Thank you Lucy and The Royal Oak for a lovely last meal before we headed to the theatre on the lake to see Nell Gwynn then home the next morning. A delightful experience all round with a lovely atmosphere and decor.
Stayed here before, great hotel, fab staff, rooms are lovely and clean, central location, excellent breakfast
A nice hotel in a great location. Our booking was for a large group. The rooms were clean and spacious. The bathrooms were a bit cramped, but how long do you spend in there? Staff were great and accommodating - e.g. we needed an early breakfast one morning and they went out of their way to arrange this for us for the next day. Thanks!
Hotel was right in the centre so convenient for shops, bar, the lake and the public car park was only a few minutes walk away. Staff were very friendly and although we hadn’t booked a table for dinner they found us a table. Service for dinner was good, we only had main courses and food was nice. We booked a cosy room which we expected to be small but we were upgraded to a slightly bigger cosy room, still on the small side but it was perfect for us as we were only staying one night. Room was quiet and bed very comfy.
The poached eggs in the morning were more like hard boiled eggs but other than that breakfast was good.
Clean, newly furnished hotel with exceptional staff
Our shower room had a dreadful smell
Excellent location Great service
An extremely relaxing break in the lakes. This hotel has the perfect balance of friendly and attentive staff in a central location. Claire was extremely welcoming, hands on and passionate. The rooms were modern and aesthetically pleasing and the breakfast was superb. Would 100% recommend to friends and family alike.
Wonderful stay right in the centre of Keswick. Very efficient check-in and check-out. Spotlessly clean room, fantastic breakfast each morning and the staff are super friendly and helpful. Definitely staying again soon. Thank you
Great location and comfy beds. Clean and good facilities in the room
Room was quite small for the price
Great location, nice staff. Had AC and refrigirator which was perfect during my summer stay
My room faced the stone alley and got quite loud in the morning (4-6am). Breakfast was also a bit average, not terrible but not great either, although overall I enjoyed my stay and I recommend the place.
The room was lovely, very clean, and air conditioned, the bathroom was great. The room was serviced every day and tea and coffee supplies restocked and complimentary. The staff are lovely and attentive, the breakfast has a great choice, with everything you could need. The location is excellent, right in the centre of beautiful Keswick.
The bed is a little firm for me but I agree that is personal taste. There is no lift in the property, and its quite a few steps to carry your luggage to your room, no help was offered. Not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.
Charming pub, comfortable clean well appointed room, delicious breakfast, and extremely friendly staff.
I liked it all.
Very nice location centrally in the city. Super breakfast and very nice and helpful staff. Enjoyed our stay very much.
Lovely old pub restaurant below rooms fantastic helpful staff
Staff Sevice, food quality and location
Room 5 size was very small, zero privacy when curtains are open, the layout of cloths storage and coffee making facilties was badly configerated and only three items of clothing could be hung up. There was toilet brush in bathroom
All good, breakfast was excellent.
Wifi kept dropping out.
Great location, amazing breakfast, lovely facilitirs
No car parking
Great location. Clean. Great breakfast.
The staff were all very attentive, perfect spot right in the centre of town. We ate our evening meal which was delicious then breakfast the next morning was also great. Loads of variety. The room was spotless, bed super comfy and i would definitely stay again
Nothing
Very cute, quaint hotel with great service and bar!
Food was fabulous, staff were excellent attentive and took lots of care related to my allergies fantastic evening we will be back thank you
Lovely air conditioned room Central location but still quiet enough and sound dampened so you could sleep Good selection for breakfast Nice clean rooms
Old building meant creaking floorboards and doors disturbed sleep Softer closing doors may help Restaurant service good but took up to an hour for food to be served from ordering Flies in the restaurant a constant nuisance. Better insect control needed downstairs as it did ruin the eating experience
A touch of quality Very good staff attitude throughout
Nothing
Rooms are comfy. It is an historic property.
No lift. The price. The TVs state “ Welcome and then the name of the guest “. For our rooms the name welcomes was not ours. A small point, but irritating. Car park is a little walk away, although we later discovered there is a drop off space at the side of the hotel. We wish we’d known this whilst carrying our bags from the car park in high heat.
Excellent customer service. Despite of the peak season, a manager checked us very quickly and reserved a table for the dinner. The restaurant is great- hearty local food with cooked breakfast. Historical exterior and modern interior with cozy design and fuctional family rooms.
Very Central location great for the Saturday market set up and only a small walk away from the lake where you have the opportunity to take a boat trip The staff were lovely such a nice friendly welcome offering a welcome gift of chocolate truffles and lovely relaxation pillow spray really nice touch Breakfast did not disappoint lots of nice choices on their Menu and lovey staff to help It has a cosy bar too we would certainly consider another visit We really did welcome Air Con InThe room during the hot spell .All in All we enjoyed our Hotel visit and the Beauty of Keswick town centre the hotel being so near no need for Taxis the bus station a 10 minute walk plenty restaurants and The Royal Oak had a very reasonable 2 course 3 course available too .
Id need to be knit picking here I would say the colour of the room and the carpet could do with a wee bit of change room is small but cosy for a short visit the small fridge came in handy
Food very good. Staff friendly and professional. Room was very comfortable. A/C was great to have.
We visited during a heatwave and the bar/food area was overrun with flies. Not something staff could easily rectify but it did put us off a little.
We had a fantastic visit to the Royal Oak in Keswick and couldn’t have asked for a warmer welcome. Rob and Lucy were absolutely brilliant from start to finish. They were genuinely friendly, took the time to chat, and made us feel like valued guests rather than just another table. The service was excellent throughout – attentive without being over the top – and nothing seemed too much trouble. It’s people like Rob and Lucy who make a place stand out and leave a lasting impression. If you’re visiting Keswick, I’d highly recommend the Royal Oak. Great atmosphere, great service, and we’ll definitely be back. Thanks again, Rob and Lucy, for making our visit so enjoyable. Oh and it’s air conditioned! Thanks Julie and Gary
Property was in a central location Dog friendly Very clean Food and staff were lovely
Only disadvantage was no parking but there’s a car park less than five minutes away
Very friendly and helpful staff
Nice staff, good location, comfortable room
Toilet was squeezed between the wall and shower so was a bit uncomfortable, and could have used an iron and ironing board in the room, but to be fair I didn't ask for one.
We loved our stay here!! Location is perfect to explore Keswick. Our room was so spacious and had everything that you would need - so clean, lovely shower, great shower products, smart tv, water for arrival and a very comfortable bed. All staff were lovely. The breakfast was great, choosing from the menu and also having a continental selection on the table. We would 100% come back to stay here.
The room was lovely, and comfortable. The staff were the stars of the show. They could not have made our dog feel more welcome. Definitely recommend.
Bathroom was small but wouldn’t stop me booking again
Staff was very kind and helpful. Room was clean and cozy with complimentary water, tea, and chocolates. Location was perfectly in the heart of town, and a short walk to restaurants, shops, and trails. Included breakfast was delicious, as well as their lunch and dinner options.
Love this hotel. The staff are super friendly & cater well for dogs. In the 30 degree heat the air conditioned rooms were heaven. Great off menu breakfast & is a lovely Central location in Keswick.
No parking provision
Staff are all helpful, friendly and smiley. Loved the interior. Location is superb! Would recommend and will come back again!
Nothing. It's the best hotel I stayed in the UK!
Arrived on a very hot evening to swiftly get checked in and find our lovely cool air-conditioned room waiting for us. We had a very tasty meal in the restaurant with the specials menu being pointed out to us. Our waiter for the evening was very helpful and knowledgeable as we're all the other staff we interacted with. Definitely recommend a visit.
Customer service was amazing The staff could not do enough to please We were upgraded to room no 1 Beautiful comfortable room Breakfast excellent Definitely come back again Thank you
Fantastic hotel, with very friendly and helpful staff! They couldn’t do enough for us. The room was immaculate and well presented and the food was spot on! Cracking place to stay in a location that can’t be topped for all amenities and excursions.
Schönes Zimmer, sauberes Bad, tolle Lage, tolles Frühstück
The location to the main street was fantastic. The breakfast was very good with a lot of choice.
The room we were allocated was very small. If you are a light sleeper (like me) early morning noise from the main street may wake you up. The main issue was the entry and exit to the room (door frame) was very low. I understand this cannot be made higher but please remove the door closing mechanism. I struck my head twice on this (im 6 foot tall) and on the last occasion so forcibly I had swelling to my head and an throbbing head ache. I raised this with the manager (who created an accident report) and was told the health and safety company lead had be informed and would be in touch. Nearly 3 weeks later... i have haven't had any follow up.
Great location and lovely pub and rooms. Staff were friendly and lovely.
Could be a little noisy with people leaving the pub but wasn’t too bad.
We enjoyed our one night stay at The Royal Oak in Keswick. Room was lovely and very clean. Air conditioning was a bonus in this heatwave. Goody Bag for the dog was a nice touch and complimentary truffles were delicious. Breakfast was really nice, staff were very attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend and look forward to staying here again on our next visit to Keswick.
Freundliches Personal! Fabelhaftes Frühstück! Gutes Essen!
Zimmer Nr. 2 hatte ein Fenster zum Hof, welches man nachts nicht öffnen konnte, weil ständig Geräusche vernehmbar waren. Die Klimaanlage war für den kleinen Raum überdimensioniert.
Pre ordered food should not take an hour to come! Service was terrible, food was well below average and there were flies everywhere. I cannot recommend this restaurant-the staff are rude, the food is shoddy, the restaurant is dirty/full of flies and the attitude towards customers is horrendous.
Great choice.quick service of food and friendly staff .Perfect location in Keswick Town.
We had room 6 and across the narrow st was a cafe with upstairs .when we opened curtains in the mornings they all could see us and we could them quite plainly looking at us.needs a one way blind.we wouldn't stay in that room next time.
We’re currently staying in this lovely part of the country so tonight we decided to have a tour of the town for just drinks as we had already eaten. There weren’t many pubs open which is why we ended up here. Two drinks for £18 it’s no wonder there weren’t many people in there.
Stayed at The Royal Oak - great location, friendly staff, good food- fantastic breakfast in comfortable surroundings. Spotlessly clean bedrooms which had daily attention. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and if returning to Keswick will definitely return to same hotel.
Great location, friendly and helpful staff, clean and cosy.
I love this place! A real cosy vibe with the lighting and refurb furniture, and the staff are all amazing! They are very dog friendly with their own dog menu and water bowls, and its nice to see dog owners being respectful of people eating, however there is space enough between tables for a dog next door not to be an issue. Rooms are so nicely done up, and they have air conditioning to keep us cool, as well as the windows being double glazed so we can have a restful nights sleep. Thank you to all the team.
Me and my partner stayed here for a few nights. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the restaurant had a very nice atmosphere, we enjoyed playing g board games before having some of their food. Lots of options food wise and even some specials, everything was reasonably priced considering it’s in the centre of town. Housekeeping did a fantastic job keeping the room nice and clean. It was a little bit noisy in the morning with the bins being emptied but that’s to be expected with the location. Overall a fab stay and the staff were absolutely amazing. Shout out to Keris for sharing her local knowledge and recommending us a lovely walk. And shout out to Jamie for keeping us well-hydrated from the bar. If you’re in Keswick this is the place to be for sure.
Lovely location
No parking
The food was lovely. Great selection at breakfast.ensuite and all the complementary products were of a good quality
Parking a bit difficult. Had to park a few roads away. Carpets look a bit tired on stairs and in our room.
Loved that this hotel was so dog inclusive. I was very nervous taking my rescue dog away for the first time but the staff we interated with made myself, my dog Lil and my sister feel very welcome. If you have a dog I totally reccomend staying here. Do remember though you are on top of a pub, but it does close at 11pm on Friday nights. If you are an early riser to take in the lakes people do come and go from rooms between 11pm and 2pm so getting up at 6am I was a bit tired due to those people coming back to their room late and being a bit noisy. Also just to add the room we were in room 2 was very hot at night and we couldn't have the air con on due to my sisters allergies. We did open the window but the air con units were outside our window and there was a constant hum from them. I would definitely stay again though but maybe in a different toom square facing. The room was lovely, the staff very welcoming. Great place to test my dog out staying in a hotel. Thank you for having dogs a welcome stay.
Comfy bed, great staff, superb breakfast.
