The room was perfect for me as a solo traveller, the pub had a beautifully authentic feel to it, the breakfast was lovely and all the staff I dealt with were excellent.

No parking. Room very tired, paintwork dirty and stained. Room very dark and dingy. Very noisy as directly above tunnel. No view from room. No shower just deep tin bath which took ages to fill. Carpet very stained and dirty. Stairs extremely steep narrow and windy. Charged an extra £20 for dogs. No dedicated check in desk, just bar. Very overpriced for offering.

I like the hotel it’s very convenient. We stayed in room 1 which is stylish, large and comfortable. The staff were efficient and friendly. Breakfast was good and tasty.

The main areas and the bedroom were looking a little scruffy and would benefit re painting.

Séjour de 4 nuits dans cette auberge de centre ville, modernisée (avec goût). Chambre et salle de bain propres et confortables, bien équipées (A noter que la chambre qui nous a été attribuée, à l'étage, donnait directement sur la terrasse extérieure du pub, mais nous n'avons pas eu de nuisance sonore en soirée) Bon petit déjeuner (mais on ne sait pas trop ce que la formule comprend !?) et bon restaurant sur place.

Stationnement payant dans parking public non loin (mais nous sommes en plein centre ville) .

Easy to get to as central location, parking close by. Easy system with getting into the hotel via fob as after hours. Super friendly, helpful staff and excellent breakfast

No shower in our room

The lady who checked us in and served breakfast was an absolute highlight. She was very attentive, helpful., knowledgeable and a real credit to this pub. Interesting old building. Fresh milk brought to our room. Breakfast was very good.

The room was a bit gloomy. One light didn't work. We did not know that the bar would close at 7pm and no food available. Maybe our fault??

Firstly, the staff here are excellent without exception (that we met) - friendly and professional. The place itself has a lot of character, has been imaginatively designed but is also very welcoming. If I lived locally I think I’d be a very regular visitor. Our room was huge and also full of character with an amazing bathroom. I’d definitely stay again if visiting Frome.

The lighting in our room was a little odd - very dim, which wad a bit of an issue as you have to keep the main curtain closed as it looks straight out at an uphill passageway so people could look right in. And there are some very strange connections to the switches - we never worked out how to keep just the lights on that we wanted. The other downside is the parking. It was no surprise, the issue was made very clear. But there’s no parking at the hotel, you have to park a couple of minutes away. Which is ok during the day but is a nuisance when arriving and departing and have a few bags.

The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. The food was also very good especially the breakfast with lots of choice. The room was comfortable and quirky and can imagine it being very cosy in the winter months.

The weather is nobody's fault as it was well in the 30's and a fan was provided. But there was only a small window. A/C would be a plus but I guess it's an old building so not much can be done. That said I'm sat here sweating so probably not the best time to write a review

Location. Style of building and interior

Room was next to garden and was told it would get quiet at 11 but was gone midnight because people drinking outside room door. Also the walls were wafer this and could hear chap next door talking to his partner on loudspeaker till 3am! 3 light bulbs not working and cobwebs by heated towel rail

La stanza corrispondeva alle nostre aspettative (per accedervi, però, si tenga conto che bisogna salire una scala a chiocciola strettissima). Ottima la colazione, un po’ meno l’esperienza serale al ristorante.

In camera non funziona il wifi. Tempi di attesa della colazione (pur ottima) eccessivi.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Location was good but instructions on where to park were not.

The breakfast was fairly awful. Whoever does the cooking needs to taste what they are sending out.

Staff were friendly and the main building is quint and stylish. Breakfast was quite nice too.

We were in the room on the first floor in the courtyard. I understand we were staying there during a heat wave, but the temperature in the room was overwhelming. We hardly slept. Just having a fan in the room is nowhere near sufficient. All it did was circulate already hot air around the room, especially as the windows wouldn’t open.

Beautiful setting, the bar and garden area was really lovely and location perfect. The bed was comfy and the room was clean.

Our sink was blocked and you couldn’t even brush your teeth without it filling up. You couldn’t open the curtains as the view was a brick wall. The emergency light was bright green and right above the bed. The noise from the bar was very loud until after 11. Eye masks and earplugs were provided and we realise why, but sadly it wasn’t enough. Definitely not good value for money sadly.

Friendly staff - novity bathtub

I thought I had booked an upmarket boutique hotel to celebrate my wife’s birthday and our anniversary. This was not our experience. On arrival at approximately 3.00pm we were greeted by friendly helpful staff and shown to our room. Our first impressions of the room, that it was a quaint spacious large room with a novity bathtub. However, on closer inspection we initially found the following: The room was sparsely furnished with no chairs or sofa – just the bed to sit on. One of the bulbs in the bathroom mirror was not working. The Kettle had a short lead, and the only accessible plug socket was the TV socket. So to boil the kettle I move a small cabinet so I could access the socket only to find excessive dust behind the cabinet – clearly the room had not been clean thoroughly. Later, we had pre-booked a table at the restaurant for 6.30pm but on arrival we were told that the restaurant was closed due to the chef had gone home sick, there was only a limited menu available at the bar. The staff said they had been trying to contact me, however there was no evidence of this, no missed call, no email, no notification from booking.com- so I don’t think this was not true. We then had to make other arrangement after being inconvenienced. On Sunday morning we ordered a full English breakfast, expecting this to be of high standard – it was not. The food had been clearly precooked; it was dry and not enjoyable. We complained to the staff but were just offered an apology. We ventured out for the day and returned back to our room at approximately 3.30pm only to find the room had not been cleaned, made up or refreshed in any way. I then went down and spoke to the on shift manager, Saffron? This is what we discussed. She initially apologised for the poor service, she explained that they had lost their sous chef on Friday night, who walked out apparently, and that their regular chef was on annual leave until Tuesday. As it was clear that any food including breakfast was not going to

Such a lovely place to stay. Everyone was friendly and accommodating, allowing us early access to change clothes to attend a wedding. Great breakfast too. 😁

In hindsight, booking a room in the roof was not so smart on our part, given the UK's current heatwave. Despite this, there was a powerful fan in our room which helped cool us down and the team did everything they could to keep us cool.

The ice machine didn't work behind the bar but due to the intense heat we've had, not really something they can control.

Everything was great, the hotel is really lovely and the roll top bath in the room was beautiful. Bed really comfy, staff so attentive and friendly. Floorboards quite noisy and was a power cut around 4.30am which set an alarm off that didn't go off for over an hour. But regardless of that, would definitely stay again

I stayed in room 6 which was up a tiny spiral staircase which opened into the most amazing room with split levels, beams and a huge metal bathtub. It was beautifully decorated and had some lovely little touches. I really liked the handwritten welcome note from the housekeeping team. I also loved being given a nice room as a single traveller. So often we get a grotty little room in a forgotten corner. I so appreciated this. Oat milk was provided for my room, and th3 veggie breakfast options were fabulous. Thank you team, what a wonderful stay. You certainly exceeded my expectations.

A mirror near a plug socket would have been good for hair drying. I didn't manage to pick up the free WiFi in the room, although I could get it in the bar. I did leave a note for the housekeeping team. It's still a 10 from me though. Fabulous room and stay. Thank you!

Needed refurbishing. Bathroom had peeling paint, dirty walls. No mat at room entrance and a muddy footprint. Dead plant outside, overgrown plants.

Okay this is where it's difficult as I don't want to put people off as genuinely this is a hotel I'd stay at again however there were some things that need fixing and all related to the lighting. The bathroom lights weren't working at all which we had a go around by using a lamp and extension but the bedroom lights were intermittently working on the switch and then at 2am they randomly came on and wouldn't shut off. Also no milk in the room to make tea The restaurant and the food I ate was fantastic and all freshly made my disappointment was I first wanted the pie, it was out of stock, then the pork burger again out of stock then for desert I asked for the crumble but again no luck. This is disappointing especially as dinner started at 5 and I was there at 5:30.

Breakfast selection and quality of the food was excellent. Location was great being directly in the town centre.

The staff were lovely, really helpful. The breakfast was excellent and the place was dog friendly and very accommodating.

It was very warm and the room I was staying in was stiflingly hot, it needs aircon, I struggled to sleep at night. The decoration was well thought out but needed paint touching up- some stains and splashes on the walls.

Lovely old pub and rooms. Beautiful metal freestanding bath and lovely beams. Very nice garden and the breakfast was tasty.

Very hot in the room and a super creaky bed. Although the bath was stunning if we’d stayed more than one night, not having a shower would have been annoying. Drinks in the bar were extremely expensive.

The building is characterful and all the right ways. We liked it so much we had our evening food ‘in house’ and were pleased to know a band would be playing. Staff are friendly. Breakfast was tasty. Our room was spotless and also generous in size (Room 1).

There was nothing I didn’t like about it.

We absolutely loved staying at The Archangel. We’ve stayed before and once again the service and staff were absolutely excellent. We loved our room, especially the larger bed, and the bath tub was divine after a stressful few days waiting to move into our new house. The breakfast was amazing, and the staff were so warm, helpful, and accommodating throughout our stay. We also really appreciated that during our previous stay we mentioned the herbal tea selection and asked whether peppermint tea could be included. This time there was peppermint tea available, which was such a thoughtful touch and really showed that guest feedback is listened to. It was exactly the relaxing experience we needed.

The lighting felt a little unusual, with lots of large lamps and spotlights, and there weren’t many plug sockets for charging phones and laptops. We also couldn’t turn off the heated towel rail.

It’s clean and well located!

There is no shower in the room, only a bath. Our room was super hot, as they gave us the one in the attic, the windows barely open and it was a very hot day! We could not really sleep that night. Breakfast was nice, the only thing to flag is avocado on toast is not fresh avocado, but an industrial avo spread!

The room was absolutely not what is shown in the pictures. It is misleading during the booking process because we expected a much more spacious room in the attic and were put in a small room that is not present on any pictures of the property. It is misleading marketing and we wouldn’t have stayed in this room if we saw it beforehand

Great location, lovely old building with lots of character and charm. Fantastic bath with very hot water and great pressure.

Our attic room had one very tiny window that could barely be opened and so with no possibility for proper air circulation it was too warm…we’d refuse the room if the temperature had been any warmer (summer)…we’d refuse were there in May. Also, very poor internet connection and tv didn’t work.

Lovely period features to the room, exposed beams, nice bath, lovely breakfast and building.

The bathroom was a bit pokey, small, as the room was in the loft a sloped pitched roof meant limited headroom, very small door to the room. Quite hot as in the loft.

Would like to see some of the furniture replaced, in this building , even thou comfortable sofas in these little areas to socialise, think they have seen better days, and do need replacing, also welcoming dogs, wouldn’t really say they cater much, did expect a dog bowl in the room , good that we bought our own,

Very noisy, you couldn’t make the room dark as the curtains were thin and the blind didn’t cover the window. You could barely get the main door open. Our view was a brick wall and barbed wire.

It’s quite quirky, unusual. Loved the bath in the room. Bedroom felt luxurious and spacious. People were so friendly , a little welcoming note for the staff in our room. Breakfast included so good value for money Lovely s all living rooms( little nooks) where you could sit with coffee or a drink. Had outside area. Fairy lights as you walk in. Parking was easy in the car park 2 minute walk to hotel. Only £7 for 24 hour stay

If I have to say, I would have like a little fridge in our room and it was hit in the attic room. However that is being picky and they provided a good fan.

I had a wonderful overnight stay. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the room was beautiful, spotless, and filled with a lovely spa-like scent as soon as you walked in. The roll-top bath was stunning and perfect for relaxing after a long day, and the whole place was wonderfully quiet. Fresh coffee,cookies and milk was a bonus! The building itself is a stunning old property that has been tastefully refurbished, blending character with comfort. The food was cooked to perfection, and the poached eggs at breakfast were absolutely divine. To top it all off, the staff were friendly, warm, and very welcoming throughout our stay.
